  1. I'm not a big dragon's blood fan so I'd been avoiding this one and it turns out my instinct was right. Dragon's blood just smells fake and sickly sweet on my skin. I can smell the rose over it and it is a pretty rose, but the dragon's blood kills it for me. :P

  2. Ooh, why did I wait so long to try this? It is fantastic! I put it on this afternoon after my shower and it's another WOW scent for me.

    Overall I too get a ton of clove and leather with a hint of ginger and a little smokey sweetness and it is GORGEOUS! I thought about clove cigarettes all day though and was tempted to go buy a pack!

    This scent definitely would work well on a man but I LOVE it on me so I'll be wearing it frequently.

    ETA: I forgot to mention the patchouli. It's subtle and really smooth. A gorgeous patchouli with no dirtiness.

  3. SAMHAIN 2006

    This morning I decided that even though I hadn't tested this out yet I would give it a whirl as my scent for today and it hasn't disapointed me. When it was wet I smelled a lot of apple and little pine (fir needle) with a hint of the darkness of wood and patchouli. As it dried the softer spices became more prominent and something very sweet, almost sugary is present. I can't quite figure out what it is but I like it. The apple faded into the background and I began to smell a smokier scent with a little bit of sweet spice.

    I'm afraid I never tried 2004 and I only briefly sniffed someone elses 2005 so I can't compare but this is a very nice blend.

    I'm such a fall scent lover and this certainly fits the bill. Thank goodness that fall is here!

  4. LUCY WESTENRA

    When Lucy, I call the thing that was before us Lucy because it bore her shape, saw us she drew back with an angry snarl, such as a cat gives when taken unawares, then her eyes ranged over us. Lucy's eyes in form and color, but Lucy's eyes unclean and full of hell fire, instead of the pure, gentle orbs we knew. At that moment the remnant of my love passed into hate and loathing. Had she then to be killed, I could have done it with savage delight. As she looked, her eyes blazed with unholy light, and the face became wreathed with a voluptuous smile. Oh, God, how it made me shudder to see it! With a careless motion, she flung to the ground, callous as a devil, the child that up to now she had clutched strenuously to her breast, growling over it as a dog growls over a bone. The child gave a sharp cry, and lay there moaning. There was a cold-bloodedness in the act which wrung a groan from Arthur. When she advanced to him with outstretched arms and a wanton smile he fell back and hid his face in his hands.

    She still advanced, however, and with a languorous, voluptuous grace, said, "Come to me, Arthur. Leave these others and come to me. My arms are hungry for you. Come, and we can rest together. Come, my husband, come!"

    A wanton beauty, corrupt, hypnotic, seductive, and feral: magnolia, iris, Moroccan rose, frankincense, crushed jasmine blossom, blood orange, tobacco flower and white musk.

    So this is my fourth scent review today...yes I just got my order and I figured I could try on four...both hands and upper arms. All have been gorgeous so far and L.W. is no exception.

    Wet this was a sharp floral. My skin always amplifies orange and the blood orange in this holds true to form. It gives the floral a really nice citrus bite. As it dries down the orange softened up a bit and the frankincense made itself known which gave this a lovely exotic feel. As far as the flowers go, it's a very nice blend and I am struggling to pick the notes apart. I get a little jasmine and a touch of rose.

    This scent stays pretty close to my skin but it is one I'd love to have somebody discover close to my skin ;) . This is a very sexy scent.

  5. LOL, I was just about to post this as a new topic when I noticed that Requieminblack beat me to it! We must have both been drenching ourselves in our new scents tonight. It's so interesting how people can have such a different review of a scent!

    So on to my review...

    For me this is very floral both in the bottle and on my skin. It's another scent that I have to use the word lovely to describe. I don't get any of the honey or amber at this point but I do get the skin musk, lillies, and just a hint of spice.

    I REALLY like this. It's a grown-up scent that would be great for a fancy dressed up night or a date.

    ETA: March 5th 2009, this has aged beautifully. It is a soft musky floral with just a hint of honey now and a deep undertone of spicy goodness. It's one of my go-to date scents and always gets me compliments and neck huffing.

  6. PUNKIE NIGHT
    Once upon a time, on a wild October night many years ago, a fair took place at Chiselborough. The men of the village of Hinton St. George made their way to the fair, and spent the night in revelry, drinking and carrying on, far into the darkest hours. Their wives grew concerned, and went looking for their unruly husbands. In order to see their way through the autumn gloom, they hollowed out mangel-wurzels and crafted them into makeshift lanterns. The drunken men, in their sloshy haze, saw the ghostly lights approaching, and believed them to be goolies -- the furious spirits of unbaptized children. In terror, they fled in panic from their bemused, bewildered wives.

    To this day, that night of foolishness is still celebrated! This is a light-hearted scent: apple orchards, bright cranberries, and a touch of warm cider.

    APPLES APPLES APPLES! This is such a yummy scent...I want to take a bite out of my arm!

    When this was wet it was all apple on my skin. As it dried I got a little bit of fruit, cherries? (Nope once I looked it up I realized it was cranberries) and just the tiniest hint of spice. When dry it smells just like my house when I put a pot of cider on to simmer. Yummy, yummy, yummy!!!!

    I'm so happy with my choices for the Haloweenie scents! Thanks Beth for such great fall scents...it's my favorite time of year and now I can smell like it!

  7. I just got this today and I couldn't wait to try it!

    Wet it was very sweet ginger with a little bit of amber and musk. As it dries I smell a strong sharp orange and it reminds me just a bit of Lush's Karma without the patchouli. 10 minutes later the cardamom comes out to play and I feel like I smell a hint of clove.

    It continues to have a touch of the gentle powdery smell of amber behind the very strong, spicy orange about an hour later.

    This seems to have a stronger throw than many of my other BPAL blends. I think I've found one of my favorite fall scents!

    ETA: I put this one on again this afternoon and I just LOVE it. It seems to have really good staying power and when I wore it to my yoga class tonight I got gorgeous whiffs of it throughout the whole class. It was a tough class and I got pretty sweaty but it's definitely stil present afterward. It's such a great scent!

  8. KINDLY MOON

    Hide this one night thy crescent, kindly Moon;

    So shall Endymion faithful prove, and rest

    Loving and unawakened on the breast;

    So shall no foul enchanter importune

    Thy quiet course; for now the night is boon,

    And through the friendly night unseen I fare,

    Who dread the face of foemen unaware,

    And watch of hostile spies in the bright noon.

    Thou knowest, Moon, the bitter power of Love;

    'Tis told how shepherd Pan found ways to move,

    For little price, thy heart; and of your grace,

    Sweet stars, be kind to this not alien fire,

    Because on earth ye did not scorn desire,

    Bethink ye, now ye hold your heavenly place.

    Utterly ethereal, an exquisite expression of love: moonflower, lotus root, white gardenia, beeswax, peach blossom, blue musk, stargazer lily, golden osmanthus, ti, sandalwood, hyacinth, ylang ylang, and a touch of vanilla bean.

    So I got to smell this one at Will-Call tonight and it is another LOVELY scent. It is very floral and when wet struck me as very "perfumey". It has settled down into a soft complex scent. Dry it has lots of cool floral with just a hint of a muskiness and I can smell a touch of the vanilla beneath it. Overall it's a very cool gentle scent and definitely one I will wear.

  9. Got this one as a frimp at the last will-call. I've hesitated to try this because of the strong minty smell in the bottle and the fact that it was one of the recent batch of decapitating imps I got, but I finally got some new imp caps last night and so pulled this on out to recap. As I opened it back up from it's saran wrap temporary seal I immediately smelled mint and something sweet. I dabbed a little on my cleavage since I've been wanting to try a mint scent when I wasn't going to be going out of the house and OH WOW. Why did I ever doubt this one. It's ocean and beach with just a hint of suntan lotion and something deep and and dark that keeps it so rich. It has great throw on me and lasted for hours. I couldn't wait to put it on after my shower this morning and now I can't stop sniffing my wrists!

  10. The perfect scent to wear to your next bondage ball, dungeon adventure or sojourn to your favorite pleasure dome. Smoky rum and black tobacco with a whisper of steamy leather with a splash of crystalline chardonnay, layered over a sensual, sweet, and deceptively magnetic base of tonka

    Perversion: Wickedgoddess sugested I try this one on my skin at will call and oh am I glad I did! In the bottle it smelled way too boozy for me, but once on it turned smoky and sweet...I too smell coconut and just that hint of leather with a little bit of spice. I wore it out tonight and one of my male friends kept hugging me and sniffing all evening. Yummy!

  11. I agree completely with Gypsy's review. This is an absolutely LOVELY scent. Just enough spice and a gentle creamy note underneath. I too am smelling and smelling and smelling my wrist!

    ~Kim

    Edit: Ah mum moon, why have you betrayed me? I fell so much in love with this one when I first had it and wore 3/4's of a bottle, purchased another bottle and generally felt like I couldn't get enough but as she has aged she's gotten much, much sweeter and the last few times I've worn her I get a nauseated feeling :P I think I'm going to have to swap away my extra bottle.

  12. On the 14th day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, the Gates of Hell burst open, and ghosts pour forth from the Nine Darknesses into the sunlit world. To placate the dead, Hell Money is burned, offerings are made, and paper boats and floating lanterns are set out to give comfort and direction to wayward spirits. Though many spirits simply seek out the comforts of their former homes and the company of their loved ones, rancorous spirits also roam the streets, seeking revenge on those who have wronged them, before and after their deaths. Offerings of ginger candy, sugar cane, smoky vanilla and rice wine mingle with a ghost's perfume of white sandalwood, ho wood, ti, white grapefruit, crystalline musk and aloe. This scent is tapered by the presence of seven herbs, woods and resins used in the purification of the spirit and the purging of earthly concerns from the soul.

    Wow, I think I'm the first to review this...and of course it's my first review at all so I hope I am getting it right!

    My first thought was grapefruit and lime. I got a very strong fruit feeling from this initially. As it settled down into my skin I got more of the sweetness...a little sugar and a hint of sandlewood. The grapefruit is still very present for me though and after a while I got just the tiniest hint of ginger. Later still I got a greener feel to it, a little bit herby and I think I can smell the aloe...but that may be cheating because I looked at the description ;-).

    Overall I am in LOVE with this scent. It's my first Lunacy here at BPAL and I bought it based purely on that...and the T-shirt, but I am certain it is going to be a scent that I will wear again and again.
