    Candy Corn Coated Candy Apple

Crisp apple dipped in melting sugar. This reminds me a bit of the candy apple scent from the Trick or Treat Inquisition a few years ago. That one was caramel apple, I think. This one is just a different coating. Apple lovers will enjoy this because it's clearly apple with a fun twist. Not a huge amount of throw or lasting power, but it'll make do. Still love Creepy and Lambs Wool for apple scents, but I think this one is a keeper.

    Ghoul Hooligan

I received this as a frimp and didn't even know it was BPAL until I Googled it. This actually reminds me of a spicy version of Arcana's Little Ghoulie. Like pumpkin muffins with dark chocolate chips spiked with a blast of cinnamon. Maybe I was originally put off the idea of this scent because saw the word "tar" and my brain went "I don't want a rubber tire..." But everyone here knows that I'm a total foodie, and this was right up my alley. I love spicy, baked scents and this was quite nice and lasted a few hours.

    Lambs-Wool

I was quite happy about Lamb's Wool. I was a little worried that it wouldn't smell as nice as I hoped. Fortunately, it's great. Definitely a comfort scent. Like others said, it's like a hard apple cider with spices. What I really like about it is that the apple note smells like juice rather than skin. There is a difference people! It's not too sharp and has just a hint of spice to make it complex. It reminds me of Samhain 05 without the "rubber tire" smell I get when I huff it directly.

    Pumpkin V (2009)

Pumpkin V 09 has been the most amazingly wonderful new BPAL scent I've tried all year! It's perfectly balanced between sweetness and spice. The coffee and spice (wherever the heck it comes from) are a bit potent to start, but very quickly dry down into that smooth "pumpkin spice latte" everyone keeps talking about. Not too bitter. Not too sweet. Great throw and amazing lasting power. I've had mine on for 9 hours now and I can still smell it. Even if you're not a foodie, if you want something warm and spicy for fall, give it a try. It's rare that I ever want to get a second bottle of a scent...but this one just might be worth it!

    Soothing System

I really wanted to love this one because I've been dying for a killer red wine scent. Sadly, it ended up smelling like Extra Bubblegum...you know, the pink one that's kinda fruity. Sad face.

The Phantom Cow of Yerba Buena Island

I have to agree that it's the Milk Moon milk note and herbs. The herbs actually remind me a little bit of Harikata. Simply put, if you like that milk note, you'll probably like this. If you're on the fence about it, the herbs do mellow out the milk note that may feel too warn or sour for some.

    Scurvy v1

To me, it smells like Skittles! Like a lemon/lime Skittle. It's a little too candy-like for my taste as a perfume. I would have preferred something a little more realistic.

    Detestable Putrescence

I tried this on at Convergence, but that's because Beth told me that it's supposed to smell like melted ice cream. Melted, specifically. To me, it was pretty spot on. Not too creamy like some vanillas. Much more foody. I didn't get any butterscotch from it at all. I think it's going to be quite popular.

    Strawberry Moon 2009

Once again, I was seduced by a lab prototype and stabbed in the heart by the final version....okay maybe not the heart, but at least the spleen. The final version is a nice strawberry with a hint of creaminess and green. What I loved about the lab's bottle was that it was very green and fresh. The strawberry and dandelion smelled real. This one...yes more like strawberry preserves.

    Velvet Dogs Playing Poker

Bottle 1) Wet: Wood and tonka. The wood reminds me the one used in Arcana's Burlesque. Where's my pipesmoke? That was my selling point. Drydown...still the same...no smoke. Not happy. Bottle 2) Wet: Irish cream, a little wood. Where's my pipesmoke? That was my selling point. Drydown...still the same...no smoke. Not happy. ETA: Oddly enough, these bottles each smell differently to me. After a while, I get kind of a wet, pipe tobacco. I was hoping it would be more smoky, but it's not.

    White Chocolate, Marshmallow, and Coconut

For some odd reason, I don't actually get coconut from this. Kind of disappointing because I love coconut notes. On me, this is definitely white chocolate warmed by marshmellow. I have problems wearing some chocolate notes (like Milk Chocolate Buttercream, Bliss, and Candy Butcher), but this white chocolate wear beautifully on me. I think it's going to be one of my comfort scents.

    Dark Chocolate and Pepper-Smoked Caramel

In the bottle and upon first application I got BOOZE! Like boozy cola. That went away quickly and dried into sweetned pepper smoke on my skin. It's really neato. I wish it was a little more caramelly, but that's fine. Sadly, it vanished about 3-4 hours later.

One to Tie, Two to Win

I now understand what all the fuss is about. At first huff and application, I totally got the green grass and dandelion. Better than Blade of Grass. Better than Down the Rabbit Hole. This is just perfectly balanced between sharp grass and slight sweetness of dandelion. Sadly, once it dries down, it pretty much vanishes. I would love to have this in a room spray! I live in Los Angeles and we don't have trees and grass here like my home Chicago. But for now, I'll have to treat it like Rose Red and dab it in my hair and on light bulbs.

    Tissue

Tissue is definitely rice paper and honey to me. I'm not really sure how gardenia is supposed to smell, but this isn't too floral. It actually reminds me a lot of Harikata, but a bit more subdued. Kind of like clean skin. Almost soapy, but not. This would make for a nice, fresh-out-of-the-shower kind of scent.

    Lovers with Rutting Cats

First impression: Sugar & Smoke. Yeah, go figure. I don't know where I was getting the smoke from, but I liked it. Sadly, it seemed to fade away a few minutes later and just smells like sweet vanilla. Eh, I think just an imp is enough.

    Samhain

Band-Aids? Yeah, maybe that describes it. Samhain 04: Okay this is one of the strangest experiences that I've ever had with a perfume. It smells different when I just randomly get a whiff versus when I huff my wrists directly. When I sniff directly, I get that rubber/band-aid smell. At first I was mad thinking, "This doesn't smell like what I got at the trunk show..." But it was the same bottle! What the hell? So I put it on and wear it, and now when I just kind of get a whiff, it smells like lovely apple cider. I think I'll just not wear it on my wrists and only wear it on my neck.

    Pinched With Four Aces

I never thought that I would ever like a tobacco scent...I was wrong. I love "smoky" scents, but tobacco was always a killer note for me. I heard so many dazzling reviews that I finally decided to try it for the heck of it through a swap. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. This reminds me of a sweet cigar. I don't get cinnamon at all. Maybe somewhat coffee? But to me, it's mostly a sweet cigar which reminds me of my favorite anime character, Integra "Teggy" Hellsing. Mmm...sexy.

    Gooey Pillowcase Atmospheric Spray

I feel naughty just sniffing this! Like I'm enjoying a really sinful, high calorie fancy restaurant desert on my birthday. It's heavy, gooey, and loaded with sugar. The pumpkin fudge makes a great base and you can detect all the other notes too. This scent is just WICKED! *sly grin*
  19. Teggy

    Eggnog Latte

I'd have to disagree. It has the same coffee note, but not the Irish creme element. Instead, the sweetness comes from the Egg Nog. For those of you who have tried Egg Nog 07, this is very much the same scent. It balances out the bitterness of the coffee nicely; unfortunately, like its predecessor, it's not nearly as potent as I'd hoped. Still for me, it's a keeper.

    Ho Ho Ho

I can't quite figure this one out. My first impression was some kind of musky Christmas tree. There's something green, yet sweet. It reminds me of a poinsettia.

    MVJBA: Pancake Breakfast

I'm still on the fence with this one. I got it in a swap and don't regret it. The pancake part smells nice and fluffy, but it's overpowered by the boysenberry and well...the berry just isn't doing it for me. Maybe a different kind of syrup would make me happier. Or just none. ETA: I put it on last night and could still smell it the next morning. Dayum. It's not a potent scent, but it sure lasts!

    Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge

Glowing Vulva is very much a creamy amber on me. It reminds me a bit of Black Opal which has the same kind of smooth, powdery-ness to it. I can see why people love it, but I'm happy with just an imp for when the mood strikes. Vanilla fans who like Love's Philosophy will like this. PS: My boy cat seems to really like it. He sniffed my hand for a bit then started licking me.

    Scent for Halloween?

I meant to wear Bed of Nails with my Halloween costume today and I completely forgot. Oh well.

    Pumpkin II (2008)

I tried this one on at willcall and kept sniffing it. To me, it felt like middle ground between last year's P3 and P5, both of which I adore. I bought my bottle, and it smelled completely different than the lab's so I don't know if I mixed it up or if the blend was different. Anyway, the final bottle was definately leather and pumpkin on me. More of a real pumpkin rather than a sweet or spicy one. Sadly, my body really amps leather, so this just didn't do it for me.

    Lilith Victoria

Snake Oil blended with Dorian, plus soft vanilla flower, lily of the valley, lavender, and fennel. To me, I mostly got lavender...then soap...ah well.
