  1. Imp - Sweet, but darker than I expected.. reminds me of the perfume "obsession".. uh-oh :P

Wet - Spicier than in the imp, but the same basic scent impression..

Drying (5 mins) - spicy and ambery/musk.. not nearly as obsession-like, but far to close for my liking.

Dry (30 mins) - A warm, spicy musk, sweet but not terribly so. Pleasant, but not for me.

If it weren't for the fact that it reminds me of obsession (mens and womens versions), which reminds me (quite unpleasantly) of my ex-husband :D, I would really like this scent.

It is a truly lovely blending of rich, dark amber, and wonderfully spiced fruit, perfect for fall, IMHO.. I also think it would blend beautifully with one of Beth's rose oils. It has a gently lingering character, and lays close to my skin.

Unfortunatly, the scent associations overpower this lovely oil for me.. off to swaps, I'm afraid.

ETA: Layered this with Two, Five, Seven about an hour after applying.. and it is *wonderful*! The rose changes the scent enough to avoid all unpleasant connotations, and the Hymn adds depth and richness to the rose.. it becomes a beautifully rich, musky rose, with a hint of fruit and spice. I will keep Hymn for the time being, and see what DH thinks of my layering combo :D

  2. Candy!!!!! candycandycandycandycandycandy...CANDY!!!! To me, this smells EXACTLY like opening a giant halloween sized bag of Smarties :P . My DH isn't so sure what he thinks of it, but I'm sure I can convince him.. The only problem that I have with it is that it fades off my skin in about an hr, but that it typical of BPAL for me. It is well worth reapplying.

I can definitely see this as a spring/summer scent, but it is one that I will use whenever I need to fill a candy craving, or just a quick pick-me-up. I may try it added to an unscented lotion, as I would like it to last longer, if possible.

I used this for an "Oh my god, do I *have* to get up and go to work" wakeup scent, in place of my usual Aizen-Myoo, and it worked very well. I usually prefer citrus for my early morning scents, and despite my nose thinking "Smarties!", the kumquat worked it's citrusy magic. I have acquired two imps :D, and plan to get a big bottle soon.

  3. So - first review post, so please bear with me. I tried this as soon as I got it, last September, but never quite got around to posting my notes..

In bottle: Green, mostly sweet.. A bit of something bitter, after a second sniff. No distinctive notes.

Wet on skin: More woody than anything. Sweet enough up close to be a bit offputting, while still manageing bitterness - impressive, lol. At arms distance, something reminds me of musk and icy asphalt, with a bit of (can't figure this one) suntan lotion, or something else creamy coconut-ish..?

Dry 30 mins: It has mellowed into an elegant, reserved scent.. mostly woods, dry, yet indefinably creamy. Up close, it is still a little "rough" - On reviewing the notes, I'm guessing that would be the bonfires coming out, along with the "feral" notes. I will have to try this again, as I am facinated by the mental images/memories that the listed notes conjour.

Dry 1hr: Almost gone..*sigh*. Typical of BPAL, but also of all ( and I do mean ALL ) perfumes/oils, regardless of maker.. My skin simply doesn't seem to keep scent. :P It has mellowed to a lovely, if almost undectable, blend of slightly sweet, creamy woods and a hint of bitter - the last gasp of the bonfire. It is an interesting scent, and I plan to try it again at a later date.
