    The Peacock Queen

2013 version: This one doesn't morph at all. Its a lush, heady, fresh rose. A deep red, haughty rose. It starts out that way in the decant and stays that way through to the dry down. Nice throw too. I'm very pleased.

    Gingerbread Zombi

In the decant: Dirt and Gingerbread Wet stage: The zombie part is stronger than the gingerbread. Like zombie with some spicy sweetness Dry stage: Zombie dies down a little; just enough so that gingerbread can poke its head out. They play rather nicely with each other. From a distance this smells like fresh gingerbread. Its oddly moist. Its only when sniffing close up that I get the moss and dirt. This is an odd combination but one that works! I'm really happy with this.

    Le Père Fouettard

2013 version: Decant: Licorice Wet: Wet stage is not that great. Coal dust takes over and buries everything else. Dry: Thankfully, the dry stage doesn't last long. Leather and Licorice make their way to the top until they dominate. If I sniff really close to my wrist I can still smell the Coal Dust that's settled at the bottom. There is also a faint sweetness and spiciness wafting around. I love this.

    Picture Books in Winter

This is more of an evocative scent for me. When I sniff I get the image of an antique, leather bound book with dried flowers pressed into the pages. There is also a sweetness swirling around that I attribute to the scottish block. It's really very lovely.

    Go to Sleep, Darlings

I have to agree with the comparison to Snow White. Smells almost exactly the same but a tad lighter on the Almond/Coconut thing I get from Snow White. Plus, Go To Sleep, Darlings is a bit sweeter. I was going to get a bottle of Snow White. Now I'll just keep both the decants.

    dark/thick/sludge-like?

My Great Sword of War is about a year old now and it's as thick a molasses. Plus, it's a beautiful dark, blood red.

    Time Does Not Bring Relief

2011 Version: A decant from a friend. This has aged to where none of the notes overpower. They all swirl around together into a beautiful powdery, resiny musk. I get hints of lavender and orange blossom. Even though I describe this scent as powdery there is a creamy quality there too. It's quite unusual and quite lovely. A light scent that's perfect for a summer day. If this comes out in a future Luper update I'm definitely snagging a bottle.
  8. Last summer I was really digging Mouse's Long and Sad Tale. So nice! Also, Bon Vivant...Strawberries and effervescent bubbly.

The Boundless Vista of an Inner World

In the decant: Salty, dark aquatic Wet stage: As soon as this hits my skin it's salty coconut. Boy, is it powerful! Dry stage: Salty coconut stays on top with something sickly and overly-sweet in the background. The fungal moss and flora smell like they've been rotting for a while. Verdict: This is one of the very few Lab scents that I have found truly vile. It made me feel nauseous. I'd rate this 0/5. Apologies to the Lab but it's really that bad.

    The Memory of Primal Secrets

The only way I know to describe the smell of this is Rotting Incense - if that makes sense? There is something aquatic underneath but it's dark, stagnant aquatic. The combo of notes is literally making me sick to my stomach and I have to scrub it off.

    Snow White

2013 Version: I've heard alot of good things about prior versions of Snow White so I thought I'd take a chance even though the notes were not appealing (florals often react badly with my skin chemistry). Well, the Lab knows how to throw a curve ball because this is my very favorite of the Yule scents. Its more surprising still because I'm not into super feminine scents - this one is all girl. Its snow, light florals, with an almond-coconut something going on. Superb!

    Whispers of Monstrous Things

This one's not good. It doesn't morph at all. Just stays the same throughout. It smells sickly, salty, rotten. There's a Fishiness about this blend but not fresh fish. More like it's been laying around for awhile.

    Village Legend Lives Long

The Frankincense is strong in this blend. It dries down to a super dark, murky incense. I like it but not enough for a bottle. The decant will do.

    Gingerbread Satyr

The GC scent Satyre goes really masculine on me but the Gingerbread in this scent adds something that rounds it out and makes it more unisex. In the decant: Sexy Red Musk Wet Stage: Very strong Musk and Pine Dry Stage: Musks take center stage blending nicely with Ginger and Cinnamon. Underneath that is an earthy pine. This is absolutely sexy. I will have to get a bottle.

Mother Shub's Pumpkin Pecan Treacle Tarts

Like MuskWitch I can smell this one through the bubble wrap. When I unwrap it - Hello, PECAN! In the Bottle: Pecan and sweetness. I'm just gonna barely dab this on. It's strong. Wet Stage: Pecan, pecan, pecan. It smells dark too. Dry Stage: Pecan is definitely the top note in this blend. I get Treacle swirling around, dark and smokey. Sometimes I think I get the tiniest hint of Pumpkin or maybe that's because I want to smell Pumpkin. I can't be sure. After awhile I get the pastry underneath but it is a burnt pastry. Conclusion: This is the first foody scent of the Lab's I've tried that I would put in the Masculine category. I'm betting this would smell heavenly on my BF. Aside from trying this on a male, I'll keep experimenting with this scent. Maybe layering it with something more feminine like O will round it out. I do like this scent; it has potential but It's just too masculine as is.

    The Visionary

In the bottle: Cold and herbal. The faintest trace of musk. Wet Stage: This one's a morpher. As soon as it hits my skin its all heather, peat, and light honey. The coolness of the iced peat starts amping up. Sort of smells like morning frost dusting a meadow. Pretty soon after that the musks are fighting to get noticed. Dry Stage: I don't know if its that the Red Musk is Honeyed or if its the White/Red musk combo but the musks stay in the background. I love musk and I love the way it normally amps on me but I have been searching for a scent where the musk is present but stays in the background. There is something about this blend that prevents the musks from becoming the dominant notes. This scent is soooo wonderful. I smell wood, soil, herbs, heather with just a touch of distant muskiness. This scent is cool and moist. I only have a decant of this and now I'll have to buy a bottle.

    Braving the Ice

I was expecting to love this since foody scents usually work so well on me. Braving the Ice is just not that great. Wet Stage: There is something in this blend that amps like crazy. I can't really pinpoint what it is because there are no spice notes mentioned in the description. This note that amps up smells like a spice of some kind, nutmeg maybe? It's pretty bad though, in a nausea inducing way. Dry Stage: That amped-up note dies down and I can smell the cream and the cookies but it fades to nothing in a few minutes. It's too bad because dry this smells nice while it lasts.

    Horror Unthinkable and Unexpected

I wasn't expecting to be too impressed by this but it's nicer than I thought it would be. This dried down into a dark and sweet smelling incense with lemon and herbs. I'm glad I have a decant.

    Placophobia

This really is wet stone and dirt. It starts off similar to Graveyard Dirt but as it dries down there is less dirt and more stone plus dried out floral. The thing that's odd is I'm getting a boozy note. Not sure what's causing that. It's an odd scent, in a good way. I was afraid that this might end up like Zombi or Graveyard Dirt but this is a scent unlike those two. I'm very happy with this.

    Noctiphobia

This one is so hard for me to pinpoint. I get mint, dark (maybe blue or purple) florals, wood. It's so well blended. Smells sophisticated. I get an image of a cool breeze on a crisp night. That breeze carries the scent of the locale with it...herbs, flowers, leaves, ect... A soft scent. I love it.
  21. This! When I tried Bien Loin D'Ici from a frimp I thought it was just okay and a bit overpowering. But, woohoo, does it get the guys stirred up. I had the menfolk following me around and even getting a bit inappropriate. So, after that reaction I had to buy a bottle Definitely a scent when you want to get noticed!

A Great White Church Atmosphere Spray

This smells identical to the Lab's GC scent Serpent's Kiss which I LOVE. The spices are definitely the same and there's the Dragon's Blood. It's got some nice throw. I gave two spritzes to my bed linens and I can smell it all over the room and a bit down the hall. If you love Serpent's Kiss give this a try.

    September Midnight

The Lab's Pom works beautifully on me and there are no dreaded death notes, so I thought I would love this. I was further convinced because the wet stage is autumn pomegranate. So lovely. But on the dry down there's a floral that I don't care for. And, I'm rather "Meh" about the scent. I will often test a scent in the Morning, on my way to work just to see what a scent does during the course of the day. Even though I'm not personally thrilled with this scent I got a lot of compliments from folks at work. So, do I keep it or not? I'm still on the fence and will test it out a few more times. Also, going to test it out in my oil diffuser since I love the wet stage.

    Eldritch Dark

My, this is a perverse little scent. Yes, that kind of perverse. So, so Sexy! There wasn't a moment's hesitation when I saw the scent description. I bought a bottle right away knowing I would love it. In the bottle: Black leather and a hint of musk. Wet Stage: Whoa, leather and more leather. Dry Stage: Usually I amp red musk like mad. Not this time. Leather and rose co-mingle at the top and the musks just sorta seep through. Rounding out the blend is a light, honey sweetness. The feel of this is intriguing and dark. Me like very much.
