    Jailbait

In the bottle, this smelled like...bubble gum. Well, that's truth in advertising. On the skin, wet, this smelled like...bubble gum. Enough so that I was cracking jokes about Candyland hookers and what sort of girls in Strawberry Shortcake land would smell like this. Still no other notes in the perfume, just gum gum gum. As it started to dry down, a few hints of cinnamon and cherry came out, enough that it became a much more interesting sort of sticky-sweetness, although it was still relatively cloying, and perhaps a bit too young for anyone who isn't the age described by the title. A little goes a very, very long way, and it took a long time to fade, even when I washed the application sites with vodka, soap and water.

    Pumpkin Patch III (2005, 2006)

In the bottle, all of the BPAL pumpkin scents smell like popcorn to me. I've learned to ignore this, as it doesn't give me a fair impression. Wet, the pumpkin overpowers the pomegranate, until it's almost purely the rich, earthy smell of squash sitting against my skin. I love the smell of pumpkin, so I would have been happy if it had stayed there. But it didn't... Dry, the sharp, fruity notes of the pomegrante come out, along with what may be a psychosomatic hint of mulling spices, as the brain goes 'it's pumpkin, must be spiced'. This smells like Persephone at the harvest fair, just before she goes back to her husband, and has become my all-time favourite BPAL pumpkin perfume. This wears a really, really long time, and a little goes a long, long way, at least for me.

    Snow White

In the bottle, this smelled wet, almost forest-y to me -- all winter woods and sugar candy. I was a little worried that it would be nothing but apples, and I wouldn't get the snow note at all, but put it on anyway, because in theory, it was going to rock my world. Wet, the apple was very, very strong, to the point that it overwhelmed everything else. This faded quickly as the drydown began, and then... Dry, it's snow, and roses, and apples, like Snow White dancing in the December woods just before the Queen takes her. The apples add a crisp, almost brittle note to the overall mixture of scents, and help to elevate it to one of my favourite perfumes yet! On me at least, the lasting power is astonishing, and I've found that mixing an imp's worth with five imp's worth of perfumer's base gives me a lot of very strong, very long-lasting perfume.

How long do bottles & imps last?

I'm a slather girl -- I hit all my pulse points, because I can't re-apply during the day, and I find that if I get my wrists, neck, and the insides of my elbows early, the only 'IIEEEE TOO MUCH' moments pass during my morning walk, leaving me pleasant all day long. I went through an imp's worth of March Hare in about a month, so I'm scrambling for more of my favourite Pumpkin Patch scent before it becomes completely unobtainable, as right now, I anticipate running out around Christmas.

    London

First, tea roses. Flowery and frothy, and very strong. Then, as the dry-down began, the scent of black tea and moss began to emerge from under the rose, making it seem aged and somehow mysterious; every time it started to fade back to simple, the other scents would rise up again. Finally, in full dry-down, I got an under-note very much like what I got off Zombi -- clean, loamy earth. Yes, it's yet another perfume that wants to smell like dirt and flowers on me. This was a fantastically complex perfume, and one of the best rose mixes I've encountered yet.

    Trick or Treat

Wet, it's all honey and wax -- strong, but not subtle, and not exactly candy corn. Once it dries, however, it becomes a dusty sweetness directly on the skin, which somehow translates into a tromp l'eye for the nose -- 'out of the corner of the nose', it smells exactly like good candy corn, all wax and honey and sticky sweetness. I could not love this more.

    Van Van

On me, this goes straight to baby powder with a veeeery faint undertone of vanilla. The general concensus has been 'nice but bland'. As for wear length, well...I've been wearing a smaaaaall amount for about eight hours now, and it just is the fragrance that Will Not Die. I can see where this would be nice for some people, but I think once was enough for me.

    Where is this scent?

I got an imp of something called 'Van Van'. Can anyone tell me what this is??? So curious!

    March Hare

On me, this smells like pepper and pears -- I adore it, and bought a 5ml bottle based on my imp (which went far, far too fast).
