in search of cherry slushie perfume...

Did you get an aged imp? Perfume samples tend to age differently than bottles, and there are also batch variations, so it is possible that the imp had more cherry but the bottle happened to be stronger on the woods. On me, The Red Queen starts off as heavily cherry but ends up being pretty strong on the woods. I don't think the Lab has a cherry slushie perfume. There are several past cherry LEs, but nothing that's specifically cherry slushie to my knowledge. Some people got cherry slushie from Chattering Teeth, though.

    Alviss

I am not familiar with the scent of ash or elm, but I definitely get a ton of chewy oak when this is first applied, along with some pine. Those two notes remain the stars of the show throughout wear, although the other tree notes do get stronger over time. Unisex to masculine, but I agree with bellumed that it doesn't smell like a cologne. I didn't get any smoke or dirt. I'll be hanging onto my decant to see if I reach for it... I'm thinking it would go great with Rocky Mountain Goats Hair Gloss.

    Becoming Thunder

The first note that leaps out to me in this is the asphodel. At first, I'm reminded of The Silver Stream from the Coraline line, but then the asphodel quickly takes on a honeysuckle vibe and I just smell honeysuckle for hours on end, with touches of ozone and frankincense (but mostly... honeysuckle). It reminded me of the honeysuckle that I used to pick in my grandmother's backyard, although there was one point that it veered into a super heady phase before calming back down. But then! By the end of the day, I get some creamy orange with it, before it becomes all about that creamy orange. It made me think of the orange in the Florida Water note in Meditation Buddy. I'm thinking the orange must be from the ambrosia? Anyway, it was an unexpected, but pleasant surprise! This is not a storm scent (at least on me) and is much sweeter (and floral!) than I expected. But I like it! I think I'll hang onto my decant and see if I reach for it during the warmer months.
  4. 8/8/21 Would you be interested in a cross stitched Halloween ornament? That would be awesome! I have a Halloween tree (I'll take a photo when I put it up this year!). I love bats, cats, corvids, woodland creatures, pumpkins, and ghosts! But no spiders, please! 8/11/21 Are there any collage artists in the mix? I would LOVE to curate one of spooky autumn goodness if my person were to be interested! I am not really a very crafty person -- decorated altoid tins are about the extent of my craftiness -- but I always love artisjok's collaged bubble mailers and wouldn't mind giving it a try if I could use it for that sort of swap purpose. Have you seen the Dragon con list? & would any of them appeal to you? I've already got a fairy for the 3 scents that interest me. Which Harry Potter house are you? Ravenclaw, but I echo Em-'s sentiments on this one. At the moment, I cannot bring myself to wear any of my Harry Potter clothes or display any of my Potter things. I don't even want non-licensed stuff. I just don't want to have anything to do with anything Harry Potter-related right now because JKR's transphobia infuriates me. 8/12/21 Do you like any art from these two sellers? They are local artists and I will probably pick up some stuff for myself soon! https://www.etsy.com/shop/CaitlinMcCarthyArt https://www.etsy.com/shop/BatinYourBelfry The pumpkin sticker from the second shop is cute! I make beautiful and very lightweight yarn-and-ribbon hairfalls - would you like a set in the colors and length of your choice? If yes, name up to four colors and length in inches! Remember- this can be part of your Halloween costume! I don't really do much with my hair, but I'd be down to try them out! Would you appreciate a skein of handspun yarn? If yes, what weight? What colors? How do you feel about beads? Any allergies to typical fibers? No, thank you! Do you like stickers? Patches? Buttons? Yes to all! Do you spend time in the outdoors? Not really. I go for walks in the park once the sun has set, and that's about it. Do you enjoy cooking and/or baking? Yes, but baking (from scratch! no pre-made baking mixes, please!) more than cooking, even though I tend to do more of the latter. It's about to the perfect time of year for baking, though! The Paintbox Soapworks Weenie collection went live today! Would you like anything? I love Fairytale and am also interested in Guy Fawkes, Hiraeth, Once For Yes, Twice For No in mini scrubs or wax. The Pickety Witch is taking pre-orders for their new Halloween pins (estimated ship date: early September). Have any caught your eye? I'm going to order the goat holding the candy and the pumpkin teapot with the ghost. I already have one similar to the cat one (but cuter). Zeep's Spooky Collection drops some time next week. Here's the scent list. Would you like any wax melts, candles, whipped soaps, sugar whips (whipped soap/scrub hybrid), body butter sugar scrubs (moisturizing scrub), meringues (lotion), bath bombs, or bath rocks from Zeep? I will be placing by biggest Zeep order ever, as there's tons I'm interested in and several things I'm ordering as gifts. So Zeep is best avoided in my case, because I won't be showing any restraint! Does anyone here like vintage halloween? Vintage Halloween is awesome! It seems like a lot of shops’ Halloween lines have items related to the same standard fandoms, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, Disney’s Haunted Mansion, Beetlejuice, Addams Family, etc. Do any of those (or other ones) particularly resonate with you? I love The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, the Addams Family, and The Munsters. I like Beetlejuice, but probably wouldn't want any Beetlejuice-related things. I have mini ornaments of Jack and Zero, Sally, Lock, Shock, and Barrel on my Halloween tree, as well as a huge bulb-like Jack Skellington ornament. I would love an individual Zero ornament! I also have a pumpkin Nightmare Before Christmas tree topper. I'm going to go buy this some time within the next few days as I have a Hallmark store close by, but their other Halloween ornaments this year are disappointing. I think the only other Peanuts Halloween ornament I have features Snoopy wearing a pumpkin costume. My boyfriend and I always try to switch up with movies and shows we watch every year, but The Great Pumpkin is a Halloween tradition for me. How do you feel about atmospheric/novelty scents and novelty food items? Things like "new car candle" or "eyeball jawbreaker" or whatever. No, thank you! If you like tea, how do you want it delivered? Loose? Bags? Tiny little messenger pigeons (subject to availability)? I prefer loose leaf tea, but I still will drink bagged tea when it gets sent my way. Pigeon delivery, pls. Would you prefer to receive ONE HUGE (more expensive) GIFT and 12 inexpensive ones, a few more expensive, or all about the same price? I would like whoever is putting together my package to do what is easiest on them, but I know I like to try to make a more varied package myself -- a few more expensive things interspersed with several less expensive ones. What are your fandoms, if any? I have many fandoms! I'm a Whovian, although I haven't been happy with the last several seasons of Doctor Who due to the writing (even pre-Chibnall). iZombie and Orphan Black are done, but I loved those shows. I love The Great British Baking Show. I'm a big fan of Studio Ghibli, and some of my favorites are My Neighbor Totoro, Whisper of the Heart, Grave of the Fireflies (10/10 but would not see again because it is the most depressing movie ever -- we went in knowing nothing beforehand during Fathom Events' Ghibli Fest one year, and everyone in the theater was sobbing afterwards), and Howl's Moving Castle. I've been super into anime over the past year, and some of my favorites include xxxHolic (I'm now reading the manga), Fruits Basket (2019), Fairy Tail (it's a comfort shonen that may not have the best writing, but I love many of the characters -- I'm reading the sequel manga, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest), YuYu Hakusho, Azumanga Daioh... I could go on! I recently watched Shojo Revolutionary Girl Utena, and I still can't get over how amazing the music from that anime is! I'm currently watching and enjoying Bleach and Ruroni Kenshin. Do you collect things like tarot decks? If so do you have a wish list or a list of ones you already have? Would you like a silk tarot bag? I have The Nightmare Before Christmas tarot deck and The Shadowspaces tarot deck. I'm content with the decks I have for now, but I wouldn't say no to a silk tarot bag! Do you like rocks/crystals? What colors / kinds? Would you like them with holes drilled (either as a pendant - you'd need to stick a bale in, or a bead?) No, thank you! I don't dislike them, but wearable would be preferred, and I just received a really lovely amethyst bracelet from the amazing HerbGirl and do not wear jewelry often enough to warrant another item like this. My mom has an etsy store - she makes bags. Do you love anything from it? We can also do box bags, draw string bags, dice bags, etc. and if you want a different type of material or a different fabric pattern, I'm open to links to specific things. (yes, we have harry potter things. We bought most of it before JKR showed herself to be a twat since we buy lots of bolts at the same time - yes, we have a whole room stuffed full of fabric.) THE YIP YIP MARTIANS. OMGGGGG ? *adds to Etsy wishlist* A dice bag would be useful. I like the NBC and black kitty pumpkin designs. Let's say you want something knitted. What are you most interested in? (hat, fingerless mitts, scarf, shawl, cowl, infinity scarf, shawlette, gnome, doily, coffee mug cozy, talisman bag, dice bag, soap sack, washcloth (I have a pattern with the leviathan cross for bpal), amigurumi / toy, bracelet, cuff, necklace, other?) (Can you link to a photo of what you envision or a pattern on ravelry? Or put it on pinterest or something if you have that.) Fingerliss mitts, arm warmers, and amigurumi in a character from one of my fandoms would be lovely. * What colors would you prefer said knitted object in? If it is fingerless mitts or armwarmers, either something purple, black, grey, green, or Halloween-y or in BPAL colors! * Stripes, gradient, semi solid, variegated? No preference! * What type of yarn would you prefer? ("wool", BFL, merino, merino/silk, merino/silk/cashmere, merino/cashmere, just silk, just cashmere, tencel (non-animal, plant based), other? I also have non-dyed organic wool (mill spun) from our own sheep - finnsheep and shetland. The finnsheep is dark brown (sun bleached black sheep from Sarge and our two black ewes we can't tell apart so they're ewe 1 and ewe 2) or a lighter silvery beige (from freckles) and the shetland is white. (we just call her shetland. They're mom's sheep, she should have named them, lol.) Most of my stripy yarn is either merino or merino cashmere.) No preference! You can check out some of my finished projects on Ravelry if you like (click on the project for more photos) (I'll have to make a list of which items are available because I knit a lot of things and then just put them in a cabinet and gift or sell them.) Are you interested in receiving any of the following homemade / home dried / home canned goodies? (just erase the ones you don't want when you answer to make it easy?) (see list in this post under spoiler because long) Reveal hidden contents 8/16/21 How do you feel about oracle decks? No, thank you! Would you like witchy/ritual oils/sundries? Any limitations (e.g. deities you won't work with)? Aside from any TAL decants on my wishlist, no thank you! Is there anything you would like to try from the UK specifically? (e.g. Lush exclusives) Cadbury Crunchie or Double Decker bars. Oh, and are you into astrology? Not really, I'm more into astrology memes. This one was my favorite that I've come across. I'm a Taurus sun, Taurus moon, Leo rising. What size shoe do you wear (inc wide/narrow, etc)? It varies. I'd say 5.5, but it depends on the width of the shoe... sometimes I have to size up even if the shoe is too big for me because 5 or 5.5 is not wide enough. I dread going shoe shopping and would not like to receive shoes, but socks, even if they are technically too big for my shoe size, are appreciated. My grandmother was Okinawan, and I inherited small feet and a shuffle walk from her. Do you like/would you want to receive comic books? Any favorite genres or characters? Not comic books, but manga! I have a few manga on my Amazon wishlist. I like more character-driven stuff. Would you like a palm stone, or anything else, from Haute Macabre? No, thank you! What's your favorite flower(s)? I really like yellow flowers like daffodils. What's you favorite woodland creature? It's too hard to say! I love owls, foxes, squirrels, hedehogs, raccoons, rabbits, tweeting birds... DO NOT MAKE ME CHOOSE. If it is cute, I will love it. Do you prefer receiving a big box with all of your goodies, or is it okay if one or two things are shipped directly to you separately (with notice!!) for customs/shipping cost purposes (i.e. if there's something customs might not allow in from the States that can be shipped from within your country)? Shipping directly from a vendor to me is fine, but you may want to ask someone to poke me to check the mail. I do not check it every day. Would you like a fabric face mask? If so, do you prefer a dome shape or a pleated shape? Face masks are appreciated! I prefer a pleated shape. I have a small nose, so the other shape doesn't have a good fit and falls off easily unless there is a wire in the nose part to make it fit better. (Note: I already have all of the face mask and glove sets from Voltaire's webshop and one from his society6 store.) I have a literal stockpile of skincare products. Can I interest you in cleanser, sheet masks, moisturizer, sample things etc etc.? Or a general pampering package? What is your skin type? I'd be potentially interested in some moisturizer samples, provided they are from cruelty-free companies. I have combination skin but it leans more towards dry than oily because I do not sweat on my face. Anything from here? ChocolateStorybook on Etsy No, thank you! I like smelling like cotton candy more than I like eating it. I have been enjoying the incense from here hand-dipped incense sticks | Hexennacht and here Hand-dipped incense sticks | Mr. Hex (mr-hex.com) Any thing interesting from either site? No, thank you! I am more into candles and wax melts. However, I am curious about the new Hexennacht scent Dreamweaver as a perfume oil. I am sure it would work for me with those notes, but I won't be placing any Hexennacht orders for the foreseeable future, unless the atmo options change, because I don't want to just place an order for one thing. 8/16/21 Would you like some delicious coffee? If so, do you prefer whole bean or ground? If ground, what grind? Also, light or dark roast? Flavor preferences? No, thank you! I like coffee, but it hates me. 8/17/21 I may be going to the Renaissance Fair this weekend (if not this weekend then soon and multiple times), any Ren Faire goodies you may like? Ah, I miss going to those! I can't think of anything in particular, but if you see something you think I'd like, I am sure I will! I always go to my town's local Farmer's Market and they have booths selling things like candles, Gourmet Pickles, Flavored Oils and Vinegars, dog treats (like bones and animal feet), honey, and bath products. Would you like any of these things? Honey. ? Do you have a preference for numbered packages for each night of the swap vs randomly selecting from unlabeled goodies? No preference! Do whatever you'd like to do! If you didn't say much about your reading preferences in your survey but would be interested in receiving books, can you elaborate a bit? I enjoy fiction, sci-fi, manga, and cookbooks, but I'm mostly just into manga right now and haven't been able to finish other books I've started. I am currently reading xxxHolic (I received the complete set for my birthday back in May) and Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest (the chapters release bi-weekly, but I do not own the volumes on my Amazon wishlist and would like to own physical copies of them). After watching Fruits Basket (2019), Fruits Basket (2001), and the 2019 version again, I'd really love to start reading the manga, but the first volume of the collector's edition is out of stock on Amazon. I think Barnes and Noble has it, but it is more expensive than some of the other books on my wishlist. Favorite authors: Lewis Carroll, A. A. Milne, and Douglas Adams. Are you interested in cocktails, be it recipes, infusion kits, tools, supplies, specialty bitters? No, thank you! Is there something that you definitely prefer to not receive in any category (anything to avoid if you hadn't/forgotten to mention)? I do not have any more room in my cupboards for mugs, so please do not send any. ? Are there patterns/prints (more guidance than general Halloween/Autumn) you like for things or are you open to whatever I may find that speaks to me? I like Beetlejuice-like stripes. Any significant other or other special person? Like if I wanted to send you specialty cocoa for a date night, would that be OK? I am making up the cocoa part, but you get my drift. That would be fine! My boyfriend and I will be celebrating five years together this weekend. I would love to request folks to to put their wish list in this thread and link in their signature. I would love to decant from my oils if I have any my person is looking for! My wishlist is up to date and in my signature! If you happened to list some favorite fandoms earlier, would you also name your favorite character(s) from those fandoms? Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) is my favorite Doctor, but I also love the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker), the Third Doctor (John Pertwee), and the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy). iZombie: Ravi Orphan Black: Helena Fairy Tail: Erza, Natsu, and Frosch. Honorable mention to Gray. xxxHolic: Everyone, but especially Mokona Modoki and the Pipe Fox. Fruits Basket: DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE. Kyo, Hanajima, Haru, and Momiji are up there, though. YuYu Hakusho: Kurama/Yoko Kurama and Hiei Ghibli: Totoro, soot sprites, cute animals/mascots Azumanga Daioh: Sakaki 8/19/21 Do you have an Amazon link? Can you post it?? Here it is! if you are a knitter/crocheter, are you over on Ravelry? If so, what’s your user name there?? I am not a knitter/crocheter! 8/20/21 I make homemade fire ciders, would that be of interest? Non-alcoholic and they are quite fiery. No, thank you! My body can't handle super acidic/spicy things. Are you interested in getting other BPAL items besides perfume, like hair gloss, bath oils or T-shirts? I would be, buuuut I have a lot of all of those things, so it would probably be difficult to get me something that I don't already have in these categories. So partner, would you be interested in a Frankenbag done in Halloween prints? I would be down for this! Y'all with furbabies... Are there any food allergies/sensitivities or quirks to know about? My cat is a very picky eater and has to have his treats and food changed up every month because he gets tired of eating the same things. He does not like salmon or shrimp treats and seems to do well with Orijen and Purebites. One quirk he has is that, after his brother passed away, he became a social eater and likes to be petted while he is eating. He will wake me up in the middle of the night to do this. how do you feel about (ethically sourced) butterfly / moth art (in a jar or shadowbox) No, thank you! I may have preemptively picked out 2 Halloween-themed mugs with cute matching spoons, before I knew who my match was going to be! So I leave it to you: Bat, or Cat? I love both cats and bats, but I seriously have no more room in my cupboard for any more mugs. 8/22/21 If you mentioned aversions to any common Halloween decor items (skeletons, witches, spiders, etc.), how encompassing is that? Specifically, is a "kid friendly" drawing of that same item on a piece of decor (like, a book cover or wrapping paper) still a preferred pass? If it's something like a kid-friendly spider on a window cling, I'll allow it, but for the most part, I veto every Halloween thing I see online or at the store with a spider on it. Would you be interested in receiving a never-used eyeshadow palette from Nororiously Morbid (gothy colors) and/or a never-used eyeshadow palette from Pretty Vulgar (romantic neutrals)? No, thank you! I rarely wear make-up (I didn't even wear it to the Voltaire show because I couldn't find my main make-up bag since I haven't worn any since February 2020 ), so while I would be okay with a standalone shadow, a palette would not get much use by me and would be better suited for another person. 8/23/21 I live in Japan. Are you interested in anything specifically Japanese I could get for you here (doesn't necessarily have to be Halloween themed)? For example, are you a fan of the anime Demon Slayer and want merch? Are you interested in trying some fun kit-kat flavors? Do you need a new set of pretty chopsticks? I would love merch from any of my favorite anime, I'm always down for Japanese snacks -- I know I listed a ton either on my questionnaire or in my answers, but in addition to trying to try as many Pocky, Pejoy, and Pretz flavors as possible, I also really love Okinawan matcha Chinsuko. I always enjoy trying the different Kit Kat flavors. Some of the Kit Kat flavors I already have or have tried are: Cherry Blossom, Cherry Blossom Sake, Hojicha, Matcha, Yuzu Matcha, Strawberry Tiramisu, Red Bean Bun, and the White Chocolate ones. We have a lot of chopsticks, but I wouldn't say no to another cute pair. In the meantime- there is an excellent chance teeturtle will have a sale in time for this swap: anything (particularly tshirts or socks) that appeal? Sizes? I like the Spellbound socks, Boba Fox socks, Spooky Kitty socks, and Don't Make Me Hex You socks. Also, the Haus of Gloi Fall Part 1 drops soon, anything here you like? Not from Fall Part 1 (I still have a ton of Ghost Puffs pumpkin butter), but I would be down for an unscented pumpkin butter. 8/24/21 Could you use a journal or sketchbook? No, thank you! Do you need BPAL storage? Imps? Bottles? I'm always down for BPAL bottle storage and recently picked up a faux book box at Homegoods to store bottles in (I posted it in the Every Day is Halloween thread). Do you wear socks? What kind? No show, ankle, knee high, over the knee? Fibers? I love all socks! Knee-high are my favorite, but I also appreciate ankle socks, crew socks, thigh-highs, fuzzy socks, slipper socks... no preference on fibers. Do you have a favorite candy(ies) [or prepacked individual snacks] that you wouldn't mind filling up your box as packing material? Or teas/coffee blends you'd enjoy? If you prefer none of this, that's fine too! I love candy, but any of the candy I would enjoy for this purpose would either be cost-prohibitive (comes in small packages, like cola and ramune Hi-Chews) or would melt (fun-size candy bars). I'm going down the Shore for a few days! Any treats you'd like from a cute beach town- salt water taffy? Fudge? Wrist fans? Tie-dye beach dress...? I wouldn't say no to salt water taffy. How do you feel about fancy marshmallows? They're delicious! 8/25/21 We've asked about candy, but let's talk specifically about gummies. Do you like crazy shapes, sweet/sour? I'm not a big fan of gummies. Anything from these Etsy shops? Kodiak Sea Charms, Halloween Hill Studio, Grave Markings No, thank you (although I technically should want the Black No. 1 pin as Type O fan, it's not really calling to me. What about the Mutter Museum's gift shop? No, thank you! 8/27/21 I grow mugwort and it's harvest season. Would you like dried leaves for bathing or tea? Or a bound bundle for smoke cleansing? (Its said to be excellent for divination or lucid dreaming, but do not use if pregnant.) its also a digestive bitter and tastes great on chicken. I enjoy mugwort in perfume, like in BPAL's Hypnotize Me, but I haven't experienced it in another way! I would be down to try mugwort tea or maybe a sachet of mugwort. I grow loads of other herbs and I'm drying them now. Any favorites you might like? Mint, basil, oregano, chives, lemon balm or others? Mint, basil, oregano, or chives all sound wonderful! I grew a huge load of onions and garlic. Any interest? No, thank you! Feathers? I have geese, ducks, peafowl, chickens and quail. So I collect their shed feathers and share them with people I like. No, thank you! I love birds, but I don't think I need any feathers. I grew a boatload of Green Shiso this year and plan to make a shiso pesto with it. Would you like some? (Nut wise it has pistachios) I've never tried it, but shiso pesto sounds delicious! I also plan to experiment with infusing it in vodka. I'm planning a plain shiso infusion and a shiso citrus infusion. If they turn out would you like some? No, thank you! 8/28/21 Would you be interested in this hand sanitizer dispenser/keychain that doubles as a light (its eyes light up when you press between its eyes!)? I already own one of these, but I bought an extra at the Voltaire show just in case my match would like one. If not, I will either PIF it or include it in another swap. If you're into tabletop games, what games do you already own, and/or what type are you interested in? I think I went into detail about this in my questionnaire. *checks* I did, but I forgot to mention I own Gloom and several Gloom variants as well! If you're worried about whether or not I already own something, have Twi message me! 8/29/21 DO YOU LIKE TRUE CRIME STORIES? No, that's not my thing. DO YOU LIKE SEASONAL MAGAZINES ON BAKING AND DECORATING? No, thank you! I'm not really a magazine person. The only exception I make is when one of the obscure German bands/musical artists I listen to releases an exclusive song on a CD included in issues of the German music magazine Sonic Seducer. 8/30/21 Would you be interested in some very size-inclusive tights? There are Halloween patterns, but also most colours under the sun, and are very comfy. Sure! What about indie chilli sauces/chutneys/jams? What type of chilli/spice level? Mango or mint chutney! Medium spice is the highest I go. In case anyone else shares a love for adorable tiny plushies, any interest in v soft and cute vegetable/fruit plushies? There are also small animals. I'd be down for small animals, as long as they aren't too big as I already own several stuffed animals. The Polish Pickup/Indie Pickup is live for wishlisting, and will ship in time for this swap (this year). Anything strike your fancy? (It's not just nail polish...there's jewelry and bath scrubs and wax tarts and all manner of things. It's fun!) https://polishpickup.com/ The pumpkin and cardamom soap sounds nice, but I'd be worried about it being too spice-heavy for my sensitive skin. 8/31/21 Anything here sound good to you? https://gryffonridge.com/ Asafoetida Powder could be useful. I've been wanting to buy it to make the dal tadka from an Indian Instant Pot cookbook that I have. Hayden Evens Art has released some new Halloween and Disney-themed prints and stickers. Do any spark your interest? No, thank you! So would you hate or be into more miscreant Halloween vibe decor - like wholesome figurines repainted, creepy dolls, goats with horns, (fake) animal skeletons, things in jars? Is anything too dark, morbid, or recoil worthy? I'm not into horror or gore. Of those things, I like goats, buuuuuut I really dislike creepy dolls. do you use any sorts of semipermanent dyes or do anything fun/wild to your hair? are there any hair products you like? I have been meaning to dye my hair red, but I already have the dye for that. I would appreciate a deep conditioning hair treatment, though! what about skincare? i am pretty into k beauty and am curious if others are interested in any aspects of this. Not really, although I wouldn't say no to a face mask or something moisturizing. 9/2/21 Regarding tea, what type of tea do you prefer? Black tea, green tea, herbal tea? Any type of tea you really don’t enjoy? White, green, and herbal teas. I don't like smoky teas, anything like licorice (anise, licorice root, fennel), or teas that are heavy on the rooibos or hibiscus. Cellar Door Bath Supply Co.'s Halloween & Fall collection is out (https://cellardoorbathsupply.com/collections/halloween-fall-collection) anything you might be interested in? Lavender Pumpkin soap or candle, Once Bitten soap or candle 9/4/21 are you interested in eco-friendly menstrual products? There are some beautiful gothic print reuseable pads I'm looking at specifically. No, thank you. I'm on continuous birth control because I'm anemic and can't afford to be having periods right now. (Although my body seems to be trying to have one anyways ) 9/6/21 Bath and Body Works? I know this is a bit of a love em or hate em company, but I really love their foaming hand soaps and scented hand sanitizers and my kids like their body wash, so I'll be placing an order with the next good sale. Anything that catches your eye? I'm normally indies only, I could use pocketbac hand sanitizer for my Globlin hand sanitizer dispenser, and I keep hearing good things about the Pumpkin Carving candle and have never had a three-wick candle and would like to give one a try. 9/14/21 I'm making homemade applesauce this weekend with apples I picked last weekend. I'm going to try my hand at canning for the first time (got my mom, the experienced canner, on speed dial lol) If I succeed would you like a jar? Yes, I'd be interested in one! 9/22/21 How do you feel about sniffies? (Empty bottles or imps you can sniff but not enough to apply) If they're wishlist items, I'd be happy to have them, but otherwise, I don't have the space for them! (I just gave away a bunch of OCYL bottles, partials, and decants because I had run out of space in my swap box.)

    Chad

I tested this while deathmatching it with The Other Hot Chocolate and Muddy Puddles. Although I always thought of The Other Hot Chocolate as a creamy, frothy hot chocolate, but it is quite different from this scent, which I would also describe as a creamy, frothy hot chocolate. I'm not sure if my skin chemistry is just wonky lately or what, but I detected a cherry-like fruit during the wet stage of The Other Hot Chocolate, which I had never gotten before, while deathmatching it with these other hot cocoa scents. Not sure if it is a fluke or not, but I can say Chad is more like Muddy Puddles than The Other Hot Chocolate. By the end of the day, I get lots of cream from The Other Hot Chocolate and it's not as strong as Chad or Muddy Puddles. Both Chad and Muddy Puddles are like Swiss Miss hot cocoa, but Muddy Puddles is the kind with the little marshmallows, so it's sweeter than Chad. Somehow, Chad ends up smelling less like cocoa made with a powder and ends up being more like hot cocoa made with a bar of chocolate by the end of the day. It's also the strongest of the three (Muddy Puddles is second as far as throw goes, and The Other Hot Chocolate is last in that department). I don't feel the need to upgrade Chad because it is pretty similar to Muddy Puddles, buuuut if I didn't already have two bottles of hot chocolate scents, I would be debating it! I'll be hanging on to my decant, though.

    The Jeweled Spider

This one starts off like a combination of a toostie roll and tobacco on me. I think it's the chocolate syrup of the ice cream sundae combining with the cigarillo smoke and perhaps the coffee. The tobacco note becomes tobacco smoke, which mingles with that chocolate syrup from the ice cream sundae for a while, and there's the light coffee note lingering in the background. I never got any curry or prominent fruit from this (the fruit is super light on me and blends into the cigarillo smoke in a cherry tobacco kind of way), but maybe the curry added to the rich feel that I got from this early on in wear. By the end of the day, it's a creamy, light smoke scent on me. I was wary of the curry in this, but it wasn't a main player on me, so don't let that scare you away from trying this! I'm not sure if it's something I'd reach for, but I do think it is nice.

Dead Words on a Dead Frequency

This one is actually rather light and refreshing. The cool eucalyptus dominates on me throughout wear, backed by the somewhat lemon-y, pine-tinged elemi. I can detect some of the opoponax in the background by the end of the day, but it is not a main player on me. I'm not sure I need a bottle of it, but I'll definitely be hanging on to my decant to wear when I'm not feeling well or need that refreshing eucalyptus.

    Thirteen (13): August 2021

I am not familiar with most of the notes in this, and since my reviews tend to focus on picking out notes, this is going to be a very vague one. This 13 starts off with a burst of chocolate, sugar, and herbs. I definitely get some strong fennel during the wet phase, which had me worried for a while. Then it ends up settling into a predominantly green herbal scent swirled with chocolate and sugar -- as if you had a pot full of herbs, chocolate, and sugar, and stirred them together. But by the end of the day, the chocolate and sugar have managed to overtake the herbs, and it's almost a floofy, mallow-like sugary chocolate with some herbs thrown in on me? I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet, although I really enjoyed the final morph of this scent. I will set it aside and allow it to age some before retesting.

Captain Lilith and Her First Mate Hair Gloss

I didn't buy a bottle of this when it was available, because I told myself I already had Boo HG to pair with my Captain Lilith and Her First Mate perfume and didn't need to have the hair gloss version of every scent I love. Years later, a kind BPALista sent me a decant so that I could try it. It is absolutely as decadent as the perfume and smells just like it to me: rum cupcakes and creamy vanilla ice cream are the main features to my nose, but it is such a delicious, warm, and comforting scent. Captain Lilith and Her First Mate is the only scent with a rum note in it that I have ever loved, and it is so nice to have some of the hair gloss to pair with the perfume! I won't try to hunt down a bottle or swap any of my current hair glosses for this, but if I saw it pop up on Etsy one day, I'd definitely try to snag a bottle! ETA: I did end up snagging a bottle from a lovely forumite.

    Saddypants Lion Alchemy Lab

We simply didn’t have enough cumulative Leo energy to pull this one off. Golden amber and sweet almond with tonka bean, peach juice, and honey musk. In the decant, I can smell the honey musk, golden amber, peach juice, and almond notes. On my skin, the golden amber and peach juice are the first notes to leap out to me, followed by the almond and honey musk, but the almond and honey musk quickly become stronger and make the scent somewhat powdery on me. The powdery honey musk ends up being the dominant note, followed by the almond, amber, and some peach juice. After several hours of wear, the golden amber, tonka bean, and honey musk are the notes that stand out to me. I still get some almond, but there's only a little peach juice by this point. I was worried about this possibly being too sweet for me. It's not as sweet as Tamora, which I am pleasantly surprised about, but I am not a fan of how powdery it ended up being on me for a while. It's very nice after a few hours of wear, though. The golden amber and tonka bean are really lovely together. I think I'll hold on to my decant and test it again before it goes away.

    We Wear The Mask

In the decant, I get strong lavender, some iris, and something that is reminding me of eucalyptus? On my skin, this starts off with the lavender, sandalwood, and iris being the most prominent notes on me, but over time, it gets a lot sharper on me, and I know that's my skin chemistry disagreeing with the wisteria and amping it to high heaven. There's also a bitter greenish aspect to this, and I wonder if it is the carrot seed? This is a melancholy, woody floral scent that would be pretty on someone whose skin chemistry doesn't run away with the wisteria.

    Tonka Bean & Pink Pepper

This one is pretty! It is also pink pepper dominant on me, but the pink pepper is sweet with a slight kick to it. The vanilla-like tonka gains strength with wear and really cozies up to the pink pepper. It has been a long time since I've smelled it, but I do get the Lush Think Pink bath bomb vibe from it by the end of the day, although it is super light on me by then. I'm going to wait until I try Tonka Bean and Saffron to decide which tonka duet I need to upgrade (if not both), but this one is definitely a contender! It's so peppy and happy, and I could see it pairing perfectly with High-Strung Daisies Hair Gloss.

    Pomelo & White Musk

I'm not sure if my nose is drunk, or if it is my skin chemistry, but here's my review: This goes on as sweet, citrusy, and somewhat peppery (????) pomelo, accompanied by the white musk. The pomelo is somewhat similar to, but not as bold as a grapefruit note. Then it morphs and I'm reminded of something like a fir needle note -- like the brightness that can be found in some fir scents, which could be part of a peel note, but it is making me wonder if some component used to create the pomelo note is also used in some fir scents. By the end of the day, it's a very light pomelo and white musk on me with that fir-like note in the background. Curiouser and curiouser! I'm glad I got to try this, but I don't think I need more of it. I think it is nice, but I do not love it nearly as much as Pink Grapefruit and Pomelo or Grapefruit, Yuzu, and White Musk.

    Red Mango & Green Tea

This one starts off with a burst of mango backed by some green tea, but over time, the green tea gains strength, and it ends up being a mango-tinged perfume-y green tea later on in the day. I don't think it's the same mango from Rice Milk and Mango, but it's hard to tell because the mango in that one was not nearly as strong as the rice milk was on me. If you enjoy green tea scents, and happen to like mango, this is worth a try! It's light, refreshing, and would be nice to wear during the warmer months.

    Aradia

A lovely forumite sent me a sniffie of this, which is why I got to smell it! But this should be treated more as an impression than a review since it was a sniffie and never had a wet stage to the scent (I did rub the wand of the decant against the back of my hand, though). I get chewy oak and a smooth black patchouli from this -- the oak reminds me of scents like The Antikythera Mechanism and The Magician's Wand, and I can see the comparisons to Banshee Beat/Revenant Rhythm due to the patchouli in this, although the vanilla in this is not the same as the one in BB/RR and isn't nearly as strong. I didn't get the opoponax, which usually smells like a cola-like resin and tends to dominate in scents on my skin after a while. I wonder if that would be the case if applied in a larger quantity? This is a very smooth patchouli and oak scent with a light veil of bourbon vanilla, and even from this sniffie, I can see why it is so beloved. It's not something I need to hunt down, since I already own Banshee Beat/RR and The Magician's Wand, but I'm thrilled that I got a chance to sniff this one!

    Pumpkin Gazpacho

This definitely smells like a cool soup on me. It goes on really strong on the sage, but then the other notes join in -- the tomato is the main player on me, although I do smell the cucumber and bell pepper. This reminds me of a skin chemistry fail I have with some scents (like Winter Landscape and The Cross of Snow), only, this is supposed to smell like soup. The pumpkin note isn't really noticeable on me, and the cream isn't distinct, either, although I am sure it is helping to tie the other notes together and add to the soupy feel of this scent. I would not wear this as a perfume, but it was fun to try this savory foodie scent.

    The Last Syllable

At first I get a blast of cucumber, and it reminds me of the Lab's Crumbled Wrapping Paper SN and some other book scents that have a fresh paper note instead of a dusty, dry type. Over time, the cucumber fades and it becomes drier and more paper-like, and I swear I also get the cool plaster walls and some magnetic tape? It's not something I'd choose to wear, but it is a pretty neat scent experience.

    'Tis Strange

The leather is the star of the show at first, and I think it is reminding me of the leather in De Sade Resurrected. The moss-covered stone and black incense lurk behind the leather for a while, and then it becomes mostly leather and incense, but by the end of the day, it has morphed again, and it is now moss-dominant on me backed by what is now a musky, funky, farm-y type of leather. I think it might be some black oudh or something mingling with the leather note. I liked how this one started off, but for some reason, it didn't end up smelling good on me in the end... there may be some oudh in the black incense.

    Thunder Moon 2021

I don't get any violet from this (a note I dislike and tend to amp). Instead, I get lychee, plum (like in other stormy scents like Crack of Thunder HG and Stormclouds Over the Midway), ozone, and what may be the black cashmere musk on a bed of resins. Sometimes I amp oakmoss, and although it is present, it's not a main player on me in this scent. The patchouli is also present, but not as strong as the other notes, and the vetiver isn't leaping out at me. It's mostly a fruity, ozonic, resinous incense blend on me. I do not think that this is a scent that I would reach for, but it's made me want to try this white lychee note in another scent with fewer notes.

    Texare

This one starts off with the fruity notes on me. First, I get the cherry, and then the lime becomes the leader in the fruit department. The fruits are backed by the resins, which end up growing stronger over time and eventually overtake them. The frankincense and oudh combo reminds me of Implacable Beautiful Tyrant HG. By the end of the day, I do get a fuzzy quality to the fruit-tinged resins, which I think must be due to the mallow root and vanilla husk, although the vanilla husk isn't distinct on me. The raspberry is more noticeable now than it was during the wet stage of the scent, when the fruits were the most prominent, and the oudh never went into poo-dh territory on me. This smells like fruity candy and resins. Like if you took Implacable Beautiful Tyrant and threw some fruity candy into the mix. I'm not sure how often I'd reach for this, but I'll hang onto the decant for a while to find out.
  21. doomsday_disco

    Juniper Hairstreak

Juniper Hairstreak starts off as mostly brown musk and cucumber on me, tinged with some mint and juniper. Over time, I get more mint, orchid, cypress, and ozone as the brown musk loses some strength. The combination of the warm musk with these cooler, refreshing sort of notes is a bit odd. I prefer the end result (less musk and more mint), but I don't think I'd want to go through the brown musk-heavy phase to get there.
  22. doomsday_disco

    The Thales Eclipse

This is mostly champaca and resins for the longest time on me. I get the leather up close, but the throw is mostly incense. By the end of the day, the castoreum and black musk make it mostly a sweet-tinged musky, dark, resinous incense. I'm glad the oudh wasn't funky on me, but it's not something I could see myself reaching for.
  23. doomsday_disco

    2006: Fruit Phoenix

At first, I get a lot of Schwarzer Mond's terebinth, backed by some of the fruity notes, and a bit of the woodiness from Krampus' switches. As the scent sits on my skin, the terebinth calms down, and the fruit notes (particularly the pomegranate and black currant) and Snake Oil gain strength, making this mostly a fruity pomegranate Snake Oil touched by woods. I think this smells nice and it smells true to its name. I don't think I'd reach for it over other Snake Oil variants (I wish the terebinth had remained a dominant note on me!), but it was nice to get to try it.
  24. doomsday_disco

    Badgers

This one fell flat on me, sadly. The list of notes sounded nice, and it started off as a smooth black patchouli backed by a bit of sassafras, but then it just became a patchouli party on me, with a little honeyed sweetness in the background. I really wish I had gotten more of the notes from this one.

    Treatsy Bath Oil

I received a partial bottle of this in a swap. I'm amazed the scent hasn't dissipated, leaving only the base like most bath oils do after some years, because unless this was from an Etsy release, it looks like it was from 2010. Anyway, Treatsy does smell like apple candy and lemon drops! It's a bright, citrus-tinged, apple candy scent that will pair nicely with something like Rapunzel in Ballpoint. I don't love it as much as Sugared Apple bath oil, but I do think it is nice, and it will help me conserve my Sugared Apple, so I'll be hanging onto the bottle.
