  1. to begin: i hate mint, and i don't especially like chocolate. cedar generally makes me feel like i'm in a hamster cage, and oakmoss tends to overwhelm many things for me....pistachios taste icky but i can't really remember what they smell like.

but, all mixed together, it isn't as awful as i expected. maybe pistachios smell yummy?

the chocolate is more Gelt-y and cocoa-y than Hersheys, and the mint is more sweet than biting. green cedar must smell slightly different from standard because it only slightly smells like the inside of my gramma's cedar chest, but the oakmoss still adds the old bottle of mostly evaporated perfume sort of smell. i'm frimping this along to someone who might enjoy it more... but it certainly was an interesting scent experience!

  2. jasmine and pepper are dealbreaker notes for me, and tea rose doesn't like me, either.

but overall, this strikes me as a very old-fashioned sort of scent. something almost timeless, actually.

all the notes seem pretty well-balanced, even the jasmine doesn't take over!

this isn't something i could ever wear, though.

  3. based on the notes, i thought i'd really like this blend. but somewhere between the "wet fruits" and the tuberose....this goes wrong. and all i can smell is something like apricots or mangoes, or some other fruit i can't stand.

  4. at first, this smelled like metals and lubricating oils, but within minutes it had changed and become something sortof comforting and familiar.

Lycanthrope and Monster both pretty much nailed it, too.

it's all the colours & scents of dish liquid....mixed

(all the American scents... i've found that washing up liquids in different countries have very different scents)

the white, green, pink, yellow, and clear with "bleach alternative"

or maybe it smells of frankincense and geranium. and i know it doesn't seem like those possibilities could smell the least bit alike but really...they do.

  5. this smells...exactly the way my best friend used to when he got out of the shower. a combination of his own natural scent, water, and his soap/shampoo/hair products.

but mostly it smells like Nexxus Humectress -- which, admittedly, he used a ton of on his nearly ass-length long wavy hair.

a dab of this, a dab of Quincey Morris and a dab of Realm for Men (the original, not the blue version) and holy wow, i could close my eyes and have it be 2001 again. (this is a good thing)

but i think i'll just keep myself a decant of this and then let the bottle move on to a better home.

  6. i've had Kvass and i loved it. the idea of honey-drizzled bread is mouthwateringly delicious. the roasted meat, well, i could honestly live without, and wine...can go either way.

but i'd already tried a prototype of this at DSWC and loved it - it was like the missing Eat Me/Drink Me sibling!

and now, being able to try it leisurely, it is even better.

rye bread, maybe? or a very dark wheat. tupelo honey and sweet kosher wine.

    LOVE.

  7. this was one of the very, very first BPAL decants i ever bought.... but i never reviewed it. since it is moving on to a new home, i thought i should jot down my impressions:

sweet tears. not sure why i get something salty out of this, but i do. faintly woody, faintly sweet (like lavender or roses, not like candy) and really.... sad.

had this been available, i'd probably wear it regularly, but since it isn't... i treasured this vial and brought it out to sniff occasionally. but as i said, now it is going off to a new home.

  8. i didn't much care for this when the Aphrodite series was out, but now that this bottle is going to live at a new home, i thought i should do a quick review. but a quick reminder: i hate pepper, it ruins everything (food or perfume).

i think i've mentioned in reviews before, about the rosebush we had growing out by the pool when i was little... it was there when we bought the house, no idea what kind of roses they were, dark dark fuschia pink, beautiful. but they stank, smelled like black pepper.

this blend smells like those roses, but rolled in sugar. not that it is actually sweet, really, because the cognac and pepper temper the caramel and fruit... but overall it is a very interesting blend.

  9. i thought i had reviewed this, as i've had it for ages.

i was placing an order in a bit of a rush - i forget why - but i ordered this instead of Torture Queen which is what i really wanted. but because it came my way, i tried it.

and were it not for the pine and honey, this would be glorious!

also, it smells remarkably similar to a cologne (Realm for men - the original in the red/brown bottle with black cap) that my old BFWB used to wear, and it smelled SO GOOD on him.
