lemon. lemon. and lemon. i know there are other notes hiding beneath it, but that's all i can register. and... i don't like lemon.

smells like a cross between those orange-chocolate candy oranges and 13. neither of which am i a big fan of.

i opened this to sniff it before reviewing it, and it had that Nearly Headless problem so many of my imps from the lab have had lately. so i spent awhile peeling the cap off, and taking the oil from that imp to another and forgot to re-read what it was i was working with... and of course got a little on my hands from the faulty vial. and, oh gods. poo. civet. i dunno what else is in this, but i know this one note... which i can't take. off off off, get it off meeee.

the lab's obsession with Apricots does not go over well with my skin. in the imp it smells like dried apricots. and i imagine on someone with friendly chemistry it might smell lovely on. for me, however... no.

impsniff: wet pressure-treated wood skinsniff, wet: wintergreen rubbing alcohol and toothpicks skinsniff, dry: wintergreen rubbing alcohol, pinestraw and dirt. ADDED 1/3/08: i was so thrilled to get this frimped to me in a forum purchase!! sniffed from the imp: rainstorm in the woods. (wet dirt, moist air, tree bark and the smell of rain) it was hard to stop sniffing this long enough to put it on! so nice. on skin: dirt and dry, fallen leaves & crisp, fresh from the spring, earth-chilled water. there's a faint creamy-white almost-sweet scent that might be lilies. this is so beautiful! you wouldn't think it from my review, but this ends up being extremely wearable, i think, even for those who might not enjoy the idea of smelling like dirt and rain (which i do enjoy, very much) i also think this would smell delicious on the right guy.

*siGh* i so wanted to love this... i need to just learn that BPAL Dragon's Blood and i... don't go. i don't get any patchouli or pomegranate out of this, but i do get some myrrh and lots of cassia (in all its faux cinnamon glory) with a note of smoke wafting around. grateful to've gotten to try this, but it is for someone else.

i don't much like coconut, but i don't hate this. it isn't the black coconut i've decided i kinda like, nor is it the dreaded "pina colada" kind, either. this is more the idea of coconut and shea butter smoothed onto tanned skin on an island somewhere someplace lost in time that doesn't know about skin cancer and UVA/UVB rays yet. and then a nice cool drink of fresh flowing water to cool down. i'm not much one for scents evoking images, but this one there isn't any other way for me to describe it. all that being said, it seems lovely and all, but so far from my cuppa i can't even begin to describe (sunlight = bad for my eyes, gives me headaches and i don't like drinking cold water)

we is "meh" about myrrh and vanilla we hateses the vetiver, pine and almond we loveses the patchouli, lime and clove this had so much potential to be so good. but the pine and vetiver just were too much, and the almond made me gaggy. let someone else use the power of voodoo (who do? you do! do what?)... this one's not for me. besides, i've got swishy hips anyway my boi prolly couldn't take it if i used the mojo.

this is more of an impression than an exact review. this is the bastard chid of Alice and Two Five and Seven. Rose and rose and rose and rose and a little milk and grass.

impsniff: leather, dragon's blood and pine skinsniff, wet: dragon's blood, bayberry and juniper skinsniff, dry: dragon's bloody christmas. a lovely blend, yummy and gorgeous. but nothing i'd wear for personal fragrance and not something i see myself needing as a room scent or tart-oil.

this was frimped to me in a swap, and on my wishlist. awwww. impsniff: patchouli and cedar skinsniff, wet: patchouli, oakmoss and copal skinsniff, dry: patchouli, oakmoss and old money. as in very old, tattered low-value bills. bizarre but true. now i need something coppery-blood-smelling to be the coins smell.......... maybe Blood Kiss?

sniffed from the bottle: i get something somewhere between Graveyard Dirt (the LE version) and Destroying Angel both of which i love. a little more complex than the Dirt and not quite as perfumey as the Angel. wet on skin, there's a brief, terrifying, bout of dark coconut (like from Black Pearl, as opposed to pina colada) that quickly fades into the freshly-rained-on dirt smell, with a hint of the rain still in the air (something reminds me of June Gloom or Thunderbird, but only just the teensiest bit) very little throw and really doesn't change all that much, but i do loveses this scent. also to note: the person i bought this from says it is one of the prototype bottles, so i don't know if the formula is changed now or not.

hm... when i tried this a few weeks ago, i LOVED it. it was the Body Shop's Juba and some Sunny Delight and a healthy heaping spoonful of yum. now... i've tested from a different imp and.... there's a wierd baby powdery note coming in... and the Juba-y-ness is much fainter. (if i still had the other imp i'd test it out on my other arm and compare to see if it is just a batch difference) now: something reminds me of the old "Sunflowers" perfume (eww) with some daffodils/jonquils and syrupy-sweet lemon-scented washing up liquid soap. i've already ordered a bottle... i don't *dislike* this by any means, but i can't quite decide how i feel about it.

empty white musk and mint seeped with solemn lavender, doleful patchouli and vetiver, scythe-sharp yuzu and lime, with geranium bourbon, white sandalwood and calla lily. we loveses the lily and patchouli we likeses the lime, geranium and yuzu we tolerateses the white musk, lavender and sandalwood we hateses the vetiver and mint impsniff: mint and vetiver skinsniff, wet: vetiver, sandalwood, patchouli, mint, lavender skinsniff, dry: lovely blend of patchouli-lavender-geranium-lily with an overbearing hint of vetiver. were it not for the vetiver, this would be another bottle-hoarding scent. but as it is, this imp will go live with someone else for awhile.

i confess, this one never made it to my skin... i sniffed the imp and got the sweetness of sugar cane, fresh cut apples, a hint of banana and a whole lot of the sinus-burn i get from pepper. and i haaaaaaate pepper. so this one's gonna go live with someone else.

impsniff: sandalwood skinsniff, wet: sandalwood and cedar skinsniff, dry: cedar, a touch of cedar, olibanum and a touch of myrrh.

we loveses the Teak. we hateses the Cedar. we go either way with Roses and Labdanum. even just from sniffing the outside of this bottle, i knew it was gonna be AWFUL... cedar mixed with cedar with a little cedar and a bit of Labdanum, a rose petal (one, yes) and a few Teak shavings. and some cedar oil, and the dust from a hamster. i got some on my fingers, accidentally, from handling the bottle and it stayed and stayed and stayed for at least eight hours, and i smelled like rotting wood. puppets are scary anyway.

this smells so familiar but i can't quite place it! something from 89-93 ... and i can see the bottle, but i can't remember the name. i remember buying it at Maurice's... gah! i'll remember later. this is like F5's Mom or something... clean and happy. white tea, asian pear, bamboo, ozone, Cave Springs water (its a North Georgia thing, just imagine the purest, most perfect ice-cold water flowing forth from a gorgeous, lush area), green tea, and some sort of green flower-- maybe a calla lily? ever watch Lily Munster when she was getting ready to go to sleep, and she holds this big flower on her chest and lays down? i rather imagine this is how that flower smelled. (and her, i guess, in her pink dress -- cuz pink films better than white ) a Mom-safe scent, gramma-safe, gift-friendly scent. enablers-r-us.

Millions of Peaches, Peaches for Meeeeee i hate that song, but i'm from Georgia, so i'm already a Georgia Peach. so NYAH. anyway, Peach Schnapps and Peach Incense and peach hard candy (the kind with the fruit jelly filling in the middle)... and everything in the world peach *scented* or *flavoured* but no real peaches. and also no amber, for which i'm grateful. all in all, this is really very good.. surprisingly because i tend to haaaaaaate all the lab's fruit-based blends (pumpkin is a veggie, right?) especially apricot, which is sooo similar to peach. overall: and it sortof reminds me of the Body Shop's "fuzzy peach" from years ago. but better.

impsniff: a freshly opened pack of Marlboro Golds. (don't ask me, i don't understand it, either) skinsniff, wet: sweet sweet orange slices (almost like the candy ones rolled in sugar), with a bit of the almost-black-coconut that is figgy goodness. skinsniff, dry: figgy mandarin oranges. yum. doesn't sound like it would be, but it is SO good. it reminds me of something, though, but i can't quite place it!

wow, this is so not what i was expecting! this is candy, just pure candy. somewhere between juicy fruit gum and Razzles (Remember them?)

i don't like almonds. that being said: skinsniff, wet: cherryalmond skinsniff, dry: almost cinnamon and almonds. i feel the dark musk but i can't smell it. skinsniff, an hour later: baby powder and almost-spice. like the lost Spice Girl -- "Almost Spice"

i think narcissus winds up smelling almost like jasmine on me... and i don't care for jasmine. the myrrh is lovely, and the opium adds intrigue and depth.... but i just can't get past the almost-jasmine. byebye bottle, hopefully you'll find a better home!

hmmm... so far the Carnival is turning out to be verrrry different from what i had expected. i thought this would be THE bottle but... nope. not so far. sniffed from the bottle: commercial air freshener skinsniff, wet: traditional floral blend skinsniff, dry: very expensive triple-milled soap and very expensive hand-rolled incense. so i guess this is what a rich hippie smells like? i really like it, don't get me wrong, but it isn't anything at all like what i expected... i think i'll put some more of this on right before i go to sleep and see what happens
