Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

I have to learn not to try anything marked "spicy" until it's been a few hours post shower. Today, Tintagel, which smelled so delicious, was the culprit. Every spot the oil touched is red. The patterns it has made are kind of amusing...*sigh* I'll try this again later in the day, because I really did like it.

    Vice

In the imp, and wet on my skin, I thought "Christmas!" [and I'm Jewish!] "Those awesome chocolate oranges combined with something else...the mall at Christmastime!" But as it dried it did funny things and took a metallic turn and was somewhat unpleasant up close - though if I didn't sniff directly on my arm, it wasn't THAT bad. Hours later, it has mellowed into a nice chocolate - but I would probably use this in my oil burner or in a scent locket rather than on my skin.

    Gluttony

I really really wanted to like this one and I was so excited to try it, but all I got was rancid nuts that smelled REALLY strong. I couldn't wash it off fast enough.

    Tempest

This one makes me so sad. I love aquatics and citrus scents, and the description seemed perfect. In the imp: Oh! I love this! Maybe I'll buy a bottle! Wet: Yes. Lovely. So nice. Fresh, wet, a bit of citrus, the beach... As it's drying down: Um...what is it doing? Where is it going? Dry: I don't know how to describe what it smells like, just that I do not like it. Kind of...burny...heavy...odd. Maybe it's salty? I used rubbing alcohol on it to minimize/remove it and it's *slightly* better but still strange. I may try this in my oil burner because it started out so nicely...or swap it and stick with Embalming Fluid and F5, which smell similar to me but stay the way I want them to.

I was given an imp by a friend - 99% sure it's a decant from the LE series. I didn't look up the description before I dabbed it on, just vaguely remembered that it was something collegiate scented (ha). Wet: Caramel popcorn! Honey and vanilla and caramel and POPCORN! A few minutes later: Someone turn off the stove, the popcorn is burning... *I look up the official notes* Drydown: OK. Irish coffee and then something sharp - wood and dusty books coming to the forefront. My husband says "coconut" as well. A few hours later: The wood/books has faded into the background, as I'd really hoped it would, and it's back to Irish coffee/caramel popcorn, which I adore. I think I may be buying a bottle of this. I'm so glad it's GC now!

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

I was actually thinking the same thing - I put the oil on this morning right after a shower (with a new soap, too).

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Last night I put a bit of Pumpkin Patch #1 on my inner arm. No problem, smelled delicious. This morning I put on my arms, neck, and cleavage. About 5 minutes later, every spot where the wand had touched was bright red. It didn't really itch or hurt, it just looked awful. I washed and used hydrocortisone cream and within about 45 minutes, it all faded. Kabuki did the same thing to me - a friend suggested that it is the anise. Thoughts? I love PP1 and plan on getting a scent locket or buring it in my oil burner...and even trying a bit of it again on my skin in a few days...

    Eden

My second review ever: In the imp: Oh, this is really strong. VERY strong. Overpowering. I don't think I'm going to like this one... Wet on me: Yummy! Very sweet, I almost want to lick it. Very coconut (my husband and I agreed it smelled like the beach - tropical, sunscreeny) Dry: Now I can smell the flowers, the fig, and still the coconut. It's still strong several hours later and I could see myself bathing in this one (for today I just have a drop on the crook of my elbow, but that seems to be plenty to start with). It's all sweetness and deliciousness. I like it a lot.

    Blood Lotus

Hi *waves* I'm new. And after lusting after descriptions and waiting on a few swaps, I finally got to try my first imp last night. My friend didn't like Blood Lotus so I figured I'd give it a try (knowing absolutely nothing about the scent before I dabbed it in the crook of my elbow)... Wet: Bubblegum! Fresh and fruity and springy but just too sweet for me. Drying: Something muskier. Something more hippy-ish. Long hair and long printed skirts. Dry: Head shop, as someone else said. Old candles that were just snuffed out, and incense wafting through. Pleasant to visit, but not something I'd want to wear regularly. There you have it.
