    Golden Priapus

On me, all I can think is "I smell like Christmas!" It's pine and juniper, with a whiff of incense underneath, along with the foody vanilla. I could also swear I smell berries or some sort of dark, ripe scent, but I must be mistaken. It's a great scent, but I think I'll save it for the holidays.

    Whip

Roses, roses, SOAP, SOAP, SOAP. No leather. That's twice I've had a rose blend turn to soap. Why do they hate my chemistry?

    Harlot

This started with a burst of cinnnamon, then it went to soap and has remained there.

    Baghdad

It reminds me of spiced Middle Eastern food. It's a very sharp blend of spices. I can't distinguish any individual notes, it just smells like a bunch of spices and sandalwood. I can't really smell any roses, but I suspect the musk is lurking in there and I just can't pick it out. (I'm not good at notes!)

    Blood Rose

I really like this. I'm not getting as much wine as some of the other reviewers have, I can mostly smell just dragon's blood and rose ... and yet I can tell that the wine is giving it an added complexity and depth. Really nice and very sexy!

    Scherezade

This is incense, incense, incense, like a little New Age store hidden away in a basement, and anything you buy from the store will smell like that magical incense for years. It's nice. The scent isn't at all like a perfume, which could be a plus or a minus.

    O

I was very disappointed when I put this one on. At first all I got was a cloying, sickly sweetness with a hint of sweat in the background. But as it dried, I liked it more and more and now I love it! It's definitely amber, honey, and vanilla, but the cloying sweetness of the wet oil has vanished. Really nice! It might smell like sex, I wouldn't know.

    Sea of Glass

Hmmm. From reading the reviews I imagined Sea of Glass as very high and light. On my skin, it's like it's the same kind of scent as I imagined, but an octave lower. It's a very aquatic, sharp, dark teal scent. I like it as a work of art, but I don't know about wearing it.

    Two, Five & Seven

Rose, rose, rose! Right out of the bottle, this smelled a little fake, a little 'perfume-y'. But as it dried it got a lot more natural and now smells just like the big peachy-pink roses on the bush my neighbours have. Ah, heaven... *sigh* I couldn't pick up the green note at all, though.

    Kathmandu

On me it's mostly ceder, but the ceder is softened by a sweet floral - the lotus, I guess - and the overall effect is very nice! I really like this one. I didn't seem to get much of the incense/spicy notes, or any wintergreen. The ceder is definitely dominant, but I don't mind. (Am I the only person who really likes wood notes?) I might just have to buy a bottle, and this was a frimp! Thank you Beth!

    Versailles

Hmmm... I like it, and I agree with what the other's have said: it's mature, womanly, and very floral. It has a 'perfume-y' edge that I don't like, but overall it's quite nice. I'm having a lot of trouble identifying notes in this one, it's very well blended. Edit: I was much too quick with this review! It hadn't dried down fully. Sinced then, it's lost the 'perfumey' edge and is now softer, very pretty. I like it a lot!

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

I know that 'bh' is pronounced like a 'v' in Celtic names, so I'm fairly certain it's a 'v' sound. Beyond that, I don't know.
  13. When looking for a scent for a teenaged girl, I wouldn't automatically go for light, innocent oils unless the personality, not age, of the recipient suggests lightness and innocence. I'm fifteen, but I don't often like 'teen' styles in clothing, accessories, or anything, really. My list of perfumes to try (I don't actually have any yet – one teen thing about me is how broke I am!) includes Harlot, Lust, O, Whip, and Rapture, and I don't see any reason why these 'dark' and 'sexual' scents wouldn't suit me fine. All anyone will notice is that I smell good, not that I'm wearing a 'sexy' scent. Of course, it would probably be weird and awkward to get a scent with a name like Harlot from one's mother. So I understand your request. But my point, anyway, is that personality and not age is the biggest consideration. From what you've said about your daughter's personality, I'd recommend something with both floral and spice notes, to both reassure her and give her confidence, but I can't recommend anything specific because, as I said, I haven't actually smelled them. (And because I know someone will wonder, yes I am fifteen, yes I do have O on my list as I mentioned above, and yes I have read the book. )

    How is 'Sudha Segara' pronounced?
