It actually comes off as smelling a bit....dusty? Also has the metallic tinge others have mentioned. The vetiver was strongest in the beginning but fades a little bit. Otherwise it's mostly lavender. When I hold my arm close to my nose I can get the violet, but it doesn't waft like the other notes. A very unique blend but not for me.

Very powdery. The orchid is a bit heavy, and overall the scent is on the sweet side. It's a darker side of sweet vanilla. Not me at all but I can see this working on certain people.

    Lolita

This completely doesn't work on me. It comes off as citrus chemicals. I was hoping for a bice youthful springy type of scent. Some minimal floral in the background...after a while the citrus chemical fades a little and a bubblegum scent comes out. Still doesn't work on me.

    The Hesperides

Mmmmm! I was worried that I wouldn't actually want to smell like this but in the end I really like it! I think I'm going to have to get a bottle. Crisp apple with some spices...apple crisp perhaps? A fresh scent for fall. Now I'm going to have to track down a bottle!

    Lady MacBeth

Wet: Berries and wine. Smells a bit like red kool-aid actually. Dry: For some reason I thought this was going to be a lot darker than it turned out. Mostly a light fruity berry scent. Still a bit too much like kool-aid, but it's actually an enjoyable scent. On my like but not love list.

Figs and Fig Scents - alone and in combos

*smacks self* Yes strangler fig would probably be a smart thing to try. And thanks for mergin the threads! How foolish of me not to think of "figgiest"! I just went back and read everything. I actually have Eden on my desk waiting to be tried so i'll have to test that one next! Also I know I've tried Gomorrah but wasn't a fan. Can't remember why at the moment..and I dont' even remember the fig in it! Also, here's hoping for more fig scents in the future!

Figs and Fig Scents - alone and in combos

I tried to search the thread for anyone who had asked about fig notes before...but, of course, it's a three letter word and doesn't show up. Anyway, I'm completely enamored of Carnal, and I think the Fig in it is delicious. Does anyone have any other suggestions based on this? Other similar scents? Other scents containing fig?

There is definitely a citrus note, but which one I can't tell. At times it does seem like the grapefruit others have mentioned but at others it's a bit more lemony. I actually get hints of moss? And definitely an overall salty aquatic feel. It seems slightly masculine to me but not so much so that a female couldn't wear it. Going to have to give this a second shot before I decide whether or not I like it on me. However, I do have to say that it's a nice scent and not what I was expecting.

    Lucretia

The kashmir wood is acting a lot like cedar on me, although there is a slight difference in smell. However, it's definitley the dominant note on me and...I'm not a woodsy type of girl. I can feel more than smell the musk and amber in the background. It's just not the complex scent that it seems to be on others. Happy that I simply got a decant

*sigh* The rose is pretty much drowning out all the lotus. I can feel that the rose has been softened a bit but it comes of as a rose scent. It's alright but nothing extraordinary.

    Thaleia

At first very fruity, and a dash of honey. Unfortunately my skin amps and morphs gardenia so this ended up smelling rather unpleasant. However, I think this would be a fantastic scent for those that can wear gardenia. It's fruity but on the mature side...playful and sunny.

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

Thank you so much guys! I guess they must be the same scent then Red musk, who knew? Definitely adding that in my notes. Thanks again!

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

I was given two imps of Spellbound but the two are entirely different in color! I was wondering if someone could help me know which one is the most accurate? One is a yellowish amber color and the other is a dark reddish brown? I mean maybe it's the same scent but that seems unlikely...

    Magdalene

At first it smelled like roses...and something bitter? Not sure where that's coming from. The bitter edge faded quickly but the roses still overpowered everything else. A faint hint of orchid, but mostly rose. This might not apply to all people though because I'm starting to think my skin chemistry may simply amp rose.

Smells liek slighty dry (but warm) pumpkin bread. I was hoping for a little more pumpkin and a little less bread because I didn't want to feel like I should eat myself. It's a nice scent but I think it would give me cravings all day. I must continue on my hunt for the perfect fall scent...

    Aizen-Myoo

Such a tricky scent for me to describe since I'm really not familiar with the taste but I think "bittersweet" is perfect for it. The whiffs I keep getting are a lot more fruity and sweet then when my nose is actually near my arm...in which case there's a very bitter edge. So sometimes it smells amazing and other times it's a bit off. I love the whiffs though! Unfortunately I think I'm going to need to swap this. Very unique and pretty though.

    Endymion

A very light and beautiful scent. The pear is strongest at the beginning and I love that note - a ripe, juicy pear. However, the rose begins to dominate only a few minutes into it. I'm not a huge rose fan. I don't mind it but I just can't bring myself to like enough that I'd buy a scent that had it as it's main note. Nice and pretty but going into swaps.

    Black Opal

It smells like a vanilla cave. Yes, I realize no such thing exists but I definitely get the mineral note that others have picked up on, and it mingles with the vanilla on my skin. However, this is mostly when I put my wrist up to my nose. The mineral is a bit less strong when I simply catch whiffs of myself. Definitely some musk in there too. Unique for sure, but not sure I can pull it off. I only got about 1/10th of an imp (as a frimp in a swap) so I will use what's left in an attempt to decide if I want to spring for a bottle.

    Hunger

The black narcissus does have it's moments of coming off a little rubbery. Otherwise it's a nice dark creamy scent. There is definitely something slightly sinister about the scent but in a delicious way. Not my scent but I do keep smelling my arm.

    Marie

A blend of sinuous violet and elegant tea rose: the chosen scent of France’s Demigoddess of Debauch: Marie Antoinette. Pretty much as described: violet and tea rose. The two are pretty evenly matched and don't morph at all. It's a nice, "Aristocratic" scent. For some reason I think it feels more british too me than marie antoinette should be wearing but it's a lovely scent none the less. I'm simply not that kind of girl though. I can see this fitting a lot of people to a T though.

    Delight

In the bottle: I get a faint smell of rose hear, but I mostly get...Frangipani? I have no clue what that smells like so I'm just guessing. It's something I'd normally describe as an incense note. Wet: Rose incense....actually it kind of smells like Anne Bonny with a rose note. I know this is not like any of the other reviews but that's what I get (and I'm usually not so different from everyone else *sigh*) Dry: Still basically the same but all the notes have blended together a little better. Definitely not me, although it's not bad.

    Blood Countess

In the bottle: Cold spiced plum. Wet: I'm liking the plum but the spices are....well, they remind me of the Yankee Christmas cnadle. I've had this reaction to one other scent before and now I'm starting to wonder what that is. It's not a bad smell it's just that it's hard to disassociate with the idea that I smell like a candle. Dry: Smells a bit like mulled wine, but with plum. Interesting, not me though.

    Santa Eularia Des Riu

In the bottle: Smells like those lemon hand-wipes. On: Stays that way for a while but the chemical element fades a bit and the herbs and lavendar start to come out giving it a softer feel. Turns out much better than in the imp but still not my cup of tea.

    Anne Bonny

A generous frimp from the lab... In the bottle: Some patchouli but it actually smells fairly light. Wet: Some patchouli but more sandalwood. Actually just smells like wood. More like a pirate ship that's been sitting in the sun for several days and is longing to feel the salt waves crash over it again (because there's clealry nothing aquatic in this, just dry wood). Dry: I'm honestly getting a slight cedar note which makes no sense. Still smells like wood, the sandalwood is the most dominant note, but the patchouli is still there. A sprinkle of frankinsence but not much. Different from what I was expecting...nice but not me. I feel like this would work well for someone who liked the outdoors a lot.

    The Caterpillar

Generous frimp from the lab... Wet: Moss and incense mostly, rather dry. There is a jasmine backnote that will probably come forward soon... Dry: The Jasmine did come to the forefront for a while but then faded to the back again leaving it just like the wet stage. I honestly was expecting to hate this but in the end it wasn't bad. The mix of floral and earthy is pretty inspired. I still can't pull of any sort of earth scent though so I'll be passing this on.
