  1. This was actually my first BPAL that I tried, and the first bottle ordered!

in the bottle, there is a sweet floral, yet a little fruity smell. On my wrist? it is sweet... i smell mostly the pear and magnolia. Delicious!!

My boyfriend loved this one, too, so much he is paying for the bottle ordered. That gives it extra bonus points!

Also: Made a great candle, too! :P My apartment smelled FAB!

  2. Oops! I tested this weeks ago, and forgot to review it *duh*

Thanks to HennaFairy, I was able to test this lovely scent on my wrist. I LOVE this one!

In bottle, it was MELON. Yummy sweet melon! On my wrist? more melon :P I didn't really smell much else out of the description...

an hour later, I could still smell the melon on my wrist. Note to self: Get your own bottle of this!

  3. This is definitely a deliciously CHRISTMAS scent. Weird to be sniffing it in May, but it made me happy nonetheless. It smelled similar to a Christmas Tree scented candle I had once… sort of spicy? But there is something a little sweet in the background, too.

I LOVED this, but not for May. Will wear all December long!

    4 out of 5 :P

  4. Smells like a citrus-y candy! Sweet, but not too strong. My boyfriend kept trying to eat my arm where I had put it on. LOL. I really liked this one!

I’ll give it a four out of 5!

  5. Very strong fruity smell out of the vial… Wet on my wrist, it was a bit strong. After about 5 mins, though, it mellowed into a lovely sweet fruity smell!

All in all, I like it… but not one of my ultimate favorites 

    I give it a 3 out of 5 :-D

  6. Electrifying, mechanized and chilly -- the scent of crushed blooms strewn on cold metal. Lush violet and neroli spiked hard with eucalyptus and a sliver of mint.

Umm… wow. This is going to sound harsh: I opened the bottle and smelled mint. VERY strong mint. Which I love, so I put it on my wrist. I sniffed, and… omg. I was hit with something ELSE, very pungent, with the mint. I immediately had visions of that smell you get when you first open one of those things you drop into the back of your toilet? :-X Then I started to gag (I swear! I’m ridiculous), and thought about how I smelled like a urinal cake, and I HAD to get rid of the smell FAST. As a human being, though, I couldn’t possibly believe that it could smell like that… and kept sniffing it a few times after, just to be sure. Each time gagging. LOL. I’m an idiot.

Rushed to the bathroom and scrubbed my wrist… then covered it up with some Dirty (my favorite). Ultraviolet is pure evil on me!!

Can I give this one a negative numbered review? LOL. -100 out of 5 :P

  7. Ok, when I was a kid I used to go outside when my mom was doing laundry, and sit under the dryer exhaust thinger forever. Then, as I got older, I just used to grab a box of Bounce dryer sheets and sniff it all day. I even laid them around my room.

Dirty is like liquid Bounce dryer sheets. It is the scent I have been searching for since childhood!

    *douses self in it*

Bonus points for my boyfriend walking into the house and saying “mmm… it smells really good in here!” :-D

6 out of 5 stars! LOL.

  8. Non compos mentis, indeed! A contrary, conflicted scent, bubbling with merry madness. Contains apple, rose, and lemon.

love this!! at first, in the bottle, it was a little sharper than I would normally like, but on my wrist it was lovely. Smelled better on my friend HennaFairy, too!

I mostly smelled the apple, not much rose. The sweet smell toned down a bit over time, and it smelled like a soap I would probably buy in somewhere like Bath & Body Works. Fruity soap! yum!

    give this one a 4 out of 5! :P

  9. when I opened the bottle and sniffed, I immediately moved my head back on this one. "P.U.", I think. As always, I give BPALs the benefit of one testing, so on with it:

on my wrist? foresty... almost medicinal in the potency. Too strong for me. And it didn't change much as I had it on for a bit...

It ALSO made my nose tickle, suggesting a bit of an allergy to something in it?

I'll give this one a 1 out of 5. I totally disliked it, and extra minus points for the allergic reaction. hehe. :P

  10. i'm obsessed with this. I totally doused myself in it yesterday! Green tea and lemon are what I smell... very crisp and fresh. This is like Calliope, minus the lavendar that I didn't like. PERFECT!

    *must buy 5ml*

This scent also lasts FOREVER. Which is very very cool, especially for me as my skin soaks in stuff SO fast usually... woohoo!

Oh, and the best thing is I am just WAITING for the uptights at work to say "ooh, what is that lovely smell you have on?" so I can say "Embalming Fluid!" :D

5 out of 5 hands up and a spin around! :P

  11. opening this up I had great expectations! Unfortunately, I randomly could only smell a 'peppery" type of smell? As I re-read the actual ingredients, I'm totally confused... as pepper was all I could smell. Like black pepper, not the vegetable.

Oh well, I put it on my wrist anyway... LOL. Still peppery. I smell NO lemon. My nose must be broken. haha.

After about 20 mins, the pepper calms down a bit to smell like grass. Peppery grass. I was NOT digging this one. LOL. Such a sin, too, as honeysuckle and lemon are 2 of my all time top smells! :P

    I'll give it a 2 out of 5. I didn't like it, but I have smelled worse (why it isn't a 1)

  12. Undertow... when I first opened the bottle, I thought it would be AWFUL. it seemed so strong! But I have learned that smelling BPAL out of the bottle means nothing, so I put it on my wrist...

LOVE this! The mint was was I mainly smelled at first (even cleared out my sinuses a bit! YES!). As it was on for a little while, the mint calmed down a bit and I was left with a very pleasant flowery mint. Not so strong, and a lovely smell!

    I give it a 4 out of 5!!

  13. I loved this scent as soon as I opened the bottle... it is VERY sweet. The pear smell very strong... almost candy-like? I put it on my wrist, and didn't have to stick my nose onto it to smell it, that is for sure. I love it!! It also smelled great burned on my oil burner with wax... aka: it would make a great candle!

downside? My boyfriend scrunched up his nose to this one. LOL.

I give it a 4 out of 5 (but still plan on buying a bottle! even if the BF doesn't really like it. hehe) :P

  14. Ok, so I was a bit scared to smell this when I realized it was another jasmine smell... but it was GORGEOUS! Very flowery, and the other scents balanced out the jasmine so that it wasn't too much to handle. It even made me question the thought that I don't like jasmine, actually. Must be something ELSE I didn't like in a few other scents.

This scent was pretty strong in that it lasted a while (yay!). I loved it to much I rushed to BPAL and ordered me a full bottle in it's last few hours of it's lifespan. hehe. *phew* at the timing!

    5 out of 5! LOVE THIS! :P

  15. :P wet on my skin, the berries smelled yuuummmmmy. Unfortunately, there was something a bit sour in the background? Can't really figure out what it was, but after it was dry for a bit that is all I could smell. No more yummy berries :D Definitely not a scent for me!

    2 out of 5

  16. Mmm.... cherry! Thanks to HennaFairy, I played with this one over the weekend... On my wrist, I smell cherries.... I loved it!

too bad the cherry is overpowered by... i don't know, wood? musk? by the time it was dry I didn't like it at ALL. Maybe it is me... maybe it doesn't mix with my skin well. I guess I should try to search for a more pure cherry scent, though! that part was devine!

    2 out of 5 for me :P

  17. Opened the bottle, and was hit with a GORGEOUS green grassy smell! Love this SO much. I got a little fearful that I may end up allergic (i sneeze when people are cutting the grass). Ah well, I put it on my wrist anyway...

This smell of flowers and grass is SO perfect for me. Very fresh... the only problem I had with it was that, with working at a computer for work, it wore off my wrist (from the mousepad, wrist pad thing) pretty quick. I should've brought it with me to re-apply!!

I will definitely be buying a bottle of this soon! 5 out of 5 thumbs up for me. LOL. :P

p.s. Oh, and no sneezing! HOORAY!

  18. Myrrh, dark musk, attar of rose and ylang ylang.

Ok, hmm... when I opened this bottle, I was hit with a smell I didn't like at ALL. But, I had a similar experience with Black Cat, so I wanted to give it a chance anyway. I made my boyfriend sniff it, and he didn't like it either (he liked Black Cat).

Anyway, I put it on my wrists this morning anyway. It is definitely too musky for me! I got in my car to go to work, and had to open the window. LOL.

SIx hours later, the smell is still pretty strong if I have my wrist go by my nose at all... but it isn't overpowering. Still not for me, though :P

I will give this a shot in a candle tonight (like I did with Black Cat, which I ended up loving as such). We'll see how that turns out!

so far? I give this one a 2 out of 5 (not a "1" only because it wasn't bad enough to me for me not to give it a chance. if that makes sense!)

    d

  19. let me first point out that I just don't seem to be a "musk" girl... :P

I opened the pack Hennafairy sent me, and this was the smell that hit me in the face. LOL. I wasn't very fond of it, but wanted to give it a fair shot, right?

Sniffing it, I was immediately just overwhelmed with the spicy smell i don't care much for. But, I passed it to my boyfriend to smell, and he LIKED it. Not feeling brave enough to put it on my wrists to try out, I decided to light a tea light and pour a small amount into the melted wax...

OMG. I loved it like that! Very incense-y? Reminded me of the shops in Philly on South Street that sell incense anyway. This burned and smelled strong all night long... probably 4 hours til I blew it out?

So, anyway, for you people that aren't sure if you like musky/spicy smells? Try it as a candle! :D

Because of the cool candle version of it, I'll give this one a 3 out of 5 :D

  20. My three favorite things, almost... green tea, lemon, and honeysuckle. Out of the container, this smells LOVELY. I want to rub it all over me!!

On my wrist? hmmm... smells great at first. Then sort of shifts to something a little old ladyish? HennaFairy had said this in the beginning when she first let me smell it.

after an hour: Subtle... I'm back to liking it. I'll have to wait for my own full imp to come in the mail before I make a total decision on this. I should LOVE this! We'll see...

    I give it a 3 out of 5 for now :P

  21. Thanks to HennaFairy for passing this along to me to try!

Ok, first wiff... I smell MINT. I am a mint lover, so got excited... Then lemony (must be the orange, since there is no lemon in this. LOL). YAY.

Wet on my wrist... slightly off. Not sure exactly what it is yet... i still smell "spicy lemon". Again, no lemon in it so my smell must be a bit off today.

After an hour... I LIKE it, but don't love it. There is something in there... maybe the lavendar, that I don't like.

I also tried dripping some in the candle i was burning, but sort of just made a mess of the label. LOL. :P

    I give it a 3 out of 5!

  22. :P

    I don't think so.

The thing about gift certificates is even though it seems like they should be really super simple, legally, they can be a PITA in terms of record keeping and tracking, and every state and country has their own laws about how and when their citizens GCs expire, revert to the state and the like. So while it seems like it should be really easy to just print up some pretty papers and ship them along, as some small localized business will, for a small but international business like BPAL, CGs could be an absolute nightmare.

awww... boohoo. I have a friend that would be perfect for such a gift... maybe PayPal or Ebay gift certificates would work? Just a suggestion to people not sure what to do, but want to give someone special BPAL fun! I'm not even sure PayPal has GCs... i'll have to double check on that... I know Ebay does, though!

    d

*EDIT* Ok, I looked... and I guess PayPal doesn't do official gift certificates either (they should!). But, I plan on just sending my friend money via PayPal with a makeshift (aka: i'll make something in Photoshop) one from me to her, with instructions as to how to pick what she wants and use that money I sent her in her PayPal account! I like to make things difficult. hehe
