Oooooh I love this!! Very soft, airy, somewhat floral (but the sandalwood keeps it from screaming floral) and a hint of clean.
The jasmine behaves in this scent and is in the background. Of the flowers listed the black orchid and paperwhites stand out. So glad to have this in my collection ... thanks cmjames!!

This reminds me of a cherry cough drop I used to use as a kid (wish I could remember which ones ... maybe sucrets). Anyway I loved them so it's no surprise I love Gothabilly!

In the bottle this smells so good but Like Ravenclaw79 I had this eew getitoff moment as well! I didn't get stinky feet though ... it was much worse! I got VOMIT!! (stinky feet would be bad too)
However as soon as it dried that went away which took like 1 minute ... thank god. Once dried it transformed into this lovely light creamy grassy smell. I think what I'm picking up most is the tobacco flower, bergamot & white tea. I really like this stage a lot but the whole vomit thing in the opening bothers me. *shivers*

Many thanks to my pick-up angel
Smut mixed with a few carny treats. Salted Popcorn and a lil funnel cake.
I do not get any Snake Oil from this what-so-ever and I'm a huge Snake Oil fan.
Me likes a whole bunch! May try to track down another bottle.

FAB pic Ravenclaw79!

This smells just like Grog does on me. It smells like I've been hitting the bars and drinkin just a little tooooo much! Damn rum. Who took my cheesecake and crust?!?!
-
I took a chance on this (I was worried about "the one-thousand imaginary flowers"). It's not bad by any means but it's just so so on me. It actually smells a lot like Bread and Butterfly (on my skin) when it dries. When wet I can smell some kind of cake and tea but nothing else really stands out. I think I will let this sit awhile. Maybe a little aging will help it.

I bought several roll on bottles of the 2009 Asphalt Flower, but I was so disappointed. It's watered down and not an oil. It smells nothing like the original from 1999. I hardly recognized the notes from the original. I wore it once and the smell faded quickly. I store it under my sink in a basket. I paid $20.00 for each bottle and I bought four. What a disappointmnet. I read on some other blogs that others were disappointed as well.
Oh that's sad. I've read the same things. I used to wear a lovely perfume from France called Gilda and I was so disappointed when they quit selling it in the US and then the company quit making it. I see it on ebay now for 75 and up but who wants to take a chance on a perfume that's over 20 years old. I mean that's pushing it a bit considering you have no idea how it's been stored all these years. lol.
As with Asphalt I haven't found anything that smells like Nirvana or Hypersouk. I've only tested about 3/4ths of the GC's and maybe close to the same on LE's so there is still a chance. Hopefully someone here can give you some ideas of things to try.
For ref. here are the notes to all three scents ...
THE ESSENCES
MAC worked with the most creative noses to craft this expressive project.
HYPER SOUK – the balmy ambiance of a room filled with mouthwatering aroma of fruit compote cooked with spicy touches of cinnamon and bay rum. A delicious fruit medley, rich in chimeric quinces and plums, is wrapped by the fumes of Armenian paper, an old fashioned air purifier from the Middle East, revealing the images of red roses, wild vanilla pods, cistus resin from Malta and teardrops of styrax and fossil amber.
SYNTHETIC NIRVANA – The souls of red poppies long dead, mixed into an obscure philter of unknown aphrodisiacs. The strangely attractive fragrance of cannabis flower joins the crispness of an herbal harmony of clary sage, brown oregano and Spanish thyme. Padook wood, eaglewood an Sumatran patchouli dive inside the fluid sensuality of Arabian myrrh and sweet incense before drowning into oblivion.
ASPHALT FLOWER – A retro-type harmony of dark blossoms perversely empowered by dense woody notes and sultry fruit accents. It’s protective petals bloom into a cloud of black violets, tinted by powdery orris from Florence and Australian boronia. The ever-pulsating floral heart reveals the headiness of queen-of-the-night and night blooming jasmine. Deep purple lilacs rhythmically embrace deep vetivert nuances, while coy raspberry taints a dark surface of wengue wood from Africa, falling into purple perdition.
NOTE: The notes you have listed in your original post are for the NEW Asphalt (the one you don't like). I listed the original above and you can see the difference. Hope that helps.
ETA: Welcome to the forum!

Could anyone recommend some BPAL scents that would smell close to the discontinued MAC perfume oil called "Asphalt Flower?" It was discontinued in the early 2000's and was sold in a small vial along with two other scents. The notes in Asphalt Flower were: violet, patchouli, vanilla, ylang ylang, and heliotrope. I'd also appreciate any recommendations for any BPAL scents that are long lasting with these notes. Thank you.
I have this (thanks to a fab forum member here) along with the other two. I haven't run across anything from BPAL that smells like it. MAC released it again last year (I haven't tried the new one) BUT I have read it doesn't smell as good as the original.
Which note stood out for you? I think on me it's the violet.
ETA: There is a bottle of the new version on eBay and it looks like it's a roll-on.

My BPTP Order with Inquisition arrived today.
I love the label art for Candy Corn Coated Candy Apple.
Lovely!!!
-
Thanks Stellans & mxtine!! Those are great. I really love the BPTP labels. What is the orange thing on the Wildfire label? It looks like a skull necklace (but hey I just woke up and my eyes and brain are still in sleep mode lol). Most people drink coffee in the morning to wake up. I drink Tea ... so better go get some.
-
bumping in hopes of new pictures of the new stuff (BPTP etc).
-
Anyone have pics of Wildfire, Mabon, Harvest Moon .... oh heck any of the new stuff??
-
I have the BPF LE on the left wrist and BPF Proto on the right. They smell the same to me, however the LE version lasts much longer on my skin than the proto. No need to hunt down a full bottle of the Proto now. I'm very happy with the LE.

Jelly Donut!!!

Whoa Nelly!!! That last image was way to large. Sorry about that.
-
Red Musk & Dragon's Blood. Very nice. If you like "The Cracked Bell" you may like this. It also reminds me of another LE but would have to go through my collection to figure out which one it is.

Look! New Thirteen! (please excuse the crappy iPhone camera pic. ^-^;; )
oOH pretty! Thanks for sharing.
Did you order any weenies? Can't wait to see all the new pretty artwork esp New Orleans, San Fran, LA and Brooklyn.

Huge blast of mint and it sticks around while wet. On dry down this smells just like a bag of Licorice Allsorts.

And also (this is a new request, as far as the search engine tells me): horchata. That lovely iced rice-milky, cinnamony-but-not-too-sweet drink of the gods that they serve in Mexican restaurants. That stuff is divine. Are there any BPALs which capture that flavor?

Oh man. I haven't ever come across a horchata scent but.... mmmmmmm.... that would be fantastic. What a great idea!
I have some Horchata in my pantry and your right that would make a lovely scent!
Bumping this thread out of the depths. . .
Here are the foodie blends I have and love: Midway, Cake Smash, Love's Philosophy (not really that foodie IMO), Velvet Unicorn (more candy), Chimera
Foodie blends I've tried and think. . 'meh': MB's, Spooky, PO13, PX117, Drink Me, Dana O'Shee, Gingerbread Poppet. . that's some of them.
I'm looking for a blend that is similar or as close to lemon cookies or lemon pound cake? I'm not fond of the tea note in Dorian. . I want something more bakery. Any suggestions? Any proto's or LE's are fine. I also love coconut. .
Also. . what is the 'best' Sugar Cookie year? I'm looking for one that isn't too heavy on the spice. . more buttery cookie.
Thanks!
05 for me. I do not get any spice at all.

I just bought a bottle of Hearth 2004. When it arrived it was in a cobalt bottle with a picture of a log blazing in a fireplace. It smells quite sweet and nutty, no cherry pipe tobacco at all. I've got the 2005 version haven't I?
That happened to me too. I heartily dislike Hearth 2005.
Same here. Someone listed a bottle as Hearth 04 and when it arrived it was 05. I already had a bottle of 05 and was wanting the 04 version so I was really bummed when I un-wrapped it. Good thing I love Hearth 05.
Yes the 05 version has a pic of a fireplace witha log burning.

I received a partial decant of this and it's very sweet. My 11 year old 3rd cousin spent part of her summer vacation with me and when she smelled this she said "Red KoolAid Powder!" Yep, I have to agree with her.

If you're a member of sinandsalvation on LJ, someone posted a LOVELY picture: http://community.livejournal.com/sinandsal...html?style=mine(I will ask the OP if I can hotlink the image, or if she can post it over here)
Thank you. I was thinking the Tiki label art would look like the picture on the site where you order.

I see reviews. New moon & Tiki pictures???
