    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

I haven't tried a lot of the crazy favorites, O, Snake Oil to name a few that haven't really crossed my wrists. I was a bit weary of patchouli, I don't know of it too well and only can really associate it with deep incensed vibe. I was hoping more of the fruit to amp because fruit scents tend to go very well with my skin. Well the fruit doesn't amp, but it turns into a very mellow red musk vibe. I normally can't wear red musk because it'll turn to powder or amp something crazy on my skin. Madame turns that note, and twists it into a very subtle. It doesn't turn outright sexy on me, in fact it just seems like part of my everyday smell. Nothing too pronounced but nothing really different. Just a deep red musk that had a spark of plum and a bit more patchouli.

    Faith

I got the Bottle about 6 months ago, and with all the tempting reports from the other reviewers I thought I'd splurge and try it out. Faith didn't get very far, it just turned into powered soap on me. No sugar, no violets just soapy baby powder. boo. Hope was the exactly same way and usually the Roses get a better response.

    Dragon's Musk

I've always deeply enjoyed most of the dragon blood that I've encountered that bpal makes. It's a clear cherryish floral that seems to work so well with my chemistry. I was hesitant when I first got the imp of Dragon's musk abit a year ago. So take this review as an aged version of the blend: Both the Dragon's blood and the musk have mellowed out considerably, as I can barely smell the sparkling tendency of the white musk but the bellowing warmth of the red musk is there. The dragon's blood is strong but acts as a player backing up the musks. It's soft and sexy when it's aged. Not a scent that I'd wear often enough so I'm glad to have this imp with me.

    Darkness

I smell both of them together in this darkness, the Myrrh and the Opium. But every-time I do sniff, I get more dizzy. I guess this means it's a no go huh? If you really like a resinous feel to your opium blends, then try this one blend out.

    Kathmandu

Kathmandu is an imp I've hung onto a while so I don't know how long it's been aged. With that being said, it's got a very strong cedar undertone to the blend. There is some incense but it's being overthrown by the cedar. I think my skin just amps the cedar, but that's just me.

    Yemaya

Sweet delicious melons starting off. Have you ever tried Melon Soda? It's a brand of soda in Japan that well smells almost like this. Kind of effervescent and light. I love the beginning stages of this perfume, so sweet and light. I want to gnaw my arm off, but the mosses I think turn the perfume a bit sour for me. It's kind of making me sick unfortunately, and this one needs to be washed off. I'm disappointed that this one isn't for me, but in the future I hope that someone will appreciate this more.

    Persephone

This is a Classic Perfume by any standards that any bpaler new to the fandom should try, or at least experience in one form or another. I myself, am one of the few that hasn't even though I've been into bpal for about a year! Blapshemy you say. Well imagine my surprise when I actually put this one on after wafting about trying it. (I'm bad about trying samples.) Glorious Glorious rose wafting with the simple dripping juiciness of poms. Rose perfume doesn't always go well with me. Either it turns very old ladyish upon me, or just disappears. A few perfumes have been slowing turning my perception of them elsewhere and this perfume is no exception. I feel very pretty and understated in this. Persephone is the perfect springtime perfume. It has a good amount of throw as that I can smell upon me the small spot where I put it. It reminds me of rose jelly that I got once in France when I went there with my school. So juicy with a perfumey undertone. Excellent Perfume, very reccomended.

    Fairy Market

The first sniff from the bottle is a rich grassy like candle scent, almost etheral. The florals and incense mix together with the slightly wiff of candy. As soon as it hits my skin, it's almost a heady incensy floral but thankfully it calms down into a lilting airy candied floral. For those of you that liked Midight on Midway, this is definately a cousin.

    Mania

This is deep sparkling fruity love. This is predominately grapefruit and strawberry leaf and very very apprpo for spring. I think this may be a bottle for this coming spring to keep me occupied. Very well done.

    Pink Moon 2007

I wish this and I could get along more appropiately but sadly this turns into a wonky celery sugar spicy carnation soap. I think this smells alright after it dries down, but it's not me as much as I appreciate the simpliness of the design. This is giving me pause to buying hope and faith as well if this goes just as wonky.

    Ostara

This definately reminds me of spring. Spring, spring spring spring leaps to mind. Sweet delicious blooms with a faint undertone of citrus. The citrus tends to overplay everything upon my skin but that's alright because some flowers don't like me. Thankfully after awhile all of them temper out and it's just a glorious spring time fragrence. Beth, how did you do that?

    Eat Me

MmmmMm this is so delicious. cakey without the strong buttery note that gives other blends pause by me of this nature but with a strong vanilla base with just a hint of fruit to wash it down. All in all, a comforting blend that has a stronger foodier base then say to Antique Lace.

    The Knave of Hearts

This is definately a very overall foody blend, so as the CapricornSister said above all of those fearing roses shouldn't worry. It's very cakey wet and has a strong butterish note. The current and roses come up a bit later on dry down tempering the buttery sweetness but doesn't quite cut it too much. It's just an overally buttery cakey rosey blend. Not much for me, but I can understand some that may enjoy it.

    Annabel Lee

My body picks up more of the moss and the sweet pea before anything else. It makes me sad because I was hoping for more peony but it's there. It gives a grounding effect which keeps the sweet pea from becoming too floral death as well as the moss from becoming too salty. Just a pretty light floral aquatic. A good representation of the melancholy feelings that stem from poe in his poem of the same name.

    Usher

My fiancee has claimed this as his own and I don't blame him. It smells absolutely divine upon him. It's all dusty tea, in my own opinon. None of the trademark haughtiness of the citrus makes any kind of appearance, it is clearly trade marked by the tea and the dust that usher invokes. It lasts for a long time, but sticks close to the skin.

    Snow-Flakes

I love beth's aquatic/ozone's and this is just so pretty. I've confessed that I've been wearly almost nightly to bed because the combination of the pastel dollness of the flower, with the faint mint and the snow resonates a calm serenity. It makes me imagine myself in a wide meadow surrounded by the calm silence of falling snow.

    Lick It Again

The perfect candy cane smell from wet to dry down. Amazing and will be absolutely perfect come the winter month. The tingling sensation from the mint is just amazing.

    Zarita, the Doll Girl (2006)

All the elements of Zarita merge upon my skin into a soft boquet of powdery flowers. It makes me feel like a woman, a very pretty woman. And that's kind of hard to do. Soft, gentle, lasts for a long time and sticks close to skin. Gorgeous.

    Green Tree Viper

er, wow. When the CD installment first hit, I knew for sure that this little winner would be mine! But there was the little underlying fact that I had never tried Snake Oil. I know, blasphmey blah de blah..anyways: Imagine the creamiest mint that you've ever encountered. Not strong, but sexy in a sense. Add in a dash of spice, and a undercurrent of vanilla and you have Green Tree Viper. It's the calm one of the snake oil family, and it's perfection. I will definatley have to buy another bottle before it goes down. I find myself having snake oil cravings.

    Gennivre, L’Artiste du Diable

Hyson tea leaf, pale mint, sugar cane, orange blossom, lemongrass, and honey. This smells to my nose of orange blossoms, the sharp smell of tea leaf and the overall undertone with mint and tea. It never really changes but it's a nice floral tea upon me, very nice for spring time when in the mood for something calming but not sweet, kind of reminds me of CD's version of Liltha. ADDED 2/18/10: I have Genevieve, this bottle is almost 3 years old so the review might be a bit screwed from when it was first opened. Why I'm reviewing it now? Well, better late then never! I have to say, the mint has died down a lot more then when it was fresh but now what lies is a soft sparkling orange blossom. A very creamy sparkling orange blossom. I have to say I'm liking it more aged then fresh.

    Monster Bait: Closet

The blackberry note tends to overpower everything and turn it almost into a blackberry single note with the slightest hint of buttercream and booze. Thankfully it fades but not after a half an hour so expect to have a lot of throw when you first apply. The cake seems to add a spicy element to the blend making it almost a berry incense. Definately delish, I'll be coveting my bottle.

    Parlement of Foules

Roses and Resins? Two categories that always seem to go either hit or miss with me. But this? Sweet, sensual, fleeting and romantic. There is white rose, not soapy but just enough to give the blend a lilting feeling. The resins sweeten and make the rose behave if roses tend to go soapy with your skin as well. After having the bottle for almost a year now, it has gotten better. The resins are syrupy thick and the rose while still not as pronounced is a bit stronger with a bit of a green edge. If you didn't like Parlement before, try it again. You'll be surprised.

    Tempest

I love this Scent! May I repeat how much I love this scent? This scent for me is the ozone that happens just right before a rain, the electric sense with a general dousage of lemon. There is a low salty tang that mingles with the rest of the scent that stays pretty much the same from contact to drydown. This scent comforts me enough that I use it almost every time before I go to sleep. A really good scent when it's hot too because the ozone tingles with wet skin. One of my top scents.

    Bess

When I tried Bess at the Meet n Sniff, I have never heard of it before and I was surprised. Then I took a better look at the notes, and I nearly bowled myself over. 5 roses? Roses? Roses normally go ultra soapy upon me and I was left with a fresh, dignified herbal citrus scent. It kind of reminds me of Litha in a way with less of a honey overtone that is matched with the citrus. If when, I run out of Litha I will be definately replacing it with a bottle of Bess.

    Chimera

I heard so many good reviews about this when I tried it, I yelped happily. Will this scent be my one true love in the absence of cinnamony goodness? Exciteingly I tried it on, but sadness overtakes my heart. My skin eats up all the complex parts and simply spews out a scent of really cheap cinnamon candles. *sigh* Maybe a cinnamon scent will love me, one day.
