    Mother Shub's Stygian Nougat

it's all sweet rich honey & almond nougat up front, with just a slight hint of something slightly lavender underneath, once it dries, a lot of the sweetness recedes and goes a lot more obviously herbal. Right now I smell a ghost of sweetness behind the lavender and the dry thyme is just a slight thread behind that. It's really almondy and foody when wet but on drydown it's nicely balanced between honey sweetness and herbal. Not cloying or medicine-y. I got only a 1/2 decant of this and i'm not sure if i need it, but it's one of the yule scents I enjoyed as an experience - just maybe not something i would really feel like wearing much.

The Smilin' Servitors' Hyperdimensional Holiday Hits

I wanted to highlight this in case any of you are, like me, hating jasmine. Night blooming jasmine really *IS* a totally different floral, thank all that is unholy. In other news, this is a fresh, citrus scent with just a sheer veil or floral - very fresh and bright and sharp but not really "juicy". Amazing pick-me-up scent for the winter and a big winner for me

    Lil' Menes' Feline Entertainments

Civet, red musk and something herbal up front ... goes VERY sweet on me, not quite foody sweet but the way red musk can sometimes sweeten up. The herbal aspect does down quickly. FYI I also got a slight allergic reaction to this on my skin so watch out if you are prone to that! Anyway, very interesting scent, I think I could do with a partial bottle.

    Madagascan Vanilla Rum

Who are you people that smell rum??? I smell SPICES like you get in spiced rum and i smell vanilla but i don't get any rum. It figures, i would have been fine w/ rum ... but quite frankly i think this is lovely, very exotic and spicy, deep rich vanilla. No rum though.

    King Mandarin

Lots of mandarin w/ a lot of rind. juicy and slitly bitter, it really wakes you up - i love it!

    Mrs. Grose

Got a 1/2 imp of Grose because rose tends not to work on me, I was hoping the tea and spice would somehow save it ... but no dice. the rose went soapy. The cinnamon is nice but I don't get much tea at all, mostly that bedamned soapy rose. It was worth a shot!

    Thrive

So, does anybody else smell Oregano?? I get ginger predominantly and something spicy or peppery, and something herbal that i suppose is the hay note but i'll be damned if the hay doesn't smell just like mexican oregano to me

    The Trackless Erg

For some reason I get a spicy floral. the floral is perfume-y and very strong ... it doesn't smell anything like I expected

    Mahogany Hall Atmosphere Spray

for those that love Mrs. Palmer's Establishment but are looking for more sweetness and don't love that much leather, this might be for you! Sweet patchouli with an undercurrent of subtle woods and spices. somehow much better than the listed notes suggest

    Mrs. Palmer's Establishment Atmosphere Spray

This is a very long-lasting scent, once you spray it will be around for a while (like the next day and you may catch a wiff of it the day after that!), I get very soft leather with a blended symphony of sweet patchouli underneath. My husband adores this one <3

    The Inn Atmosphere Spray

nutty? porridge-y? Not an overwhelming scent, complex but mostly nuts. Sorry i couldn't pick much out, but i did not get beer but here might be some some very light pale wood in there.

    Druid

Sweet green scent, slightly pleasantly herbal but mostly green forest smell and upturned earth. Must have cypress in there since that goes sweet on me, but I don't get much wood at all, mostly greenery and loamy earth. there might also be a hint of loral in there somwhere rounding it out. Not a morpher, very fresh and clean, would love this as a room-spray!

    Iranian Galbanum

Whoah! Strong green pine, woody and almost piquant ... kind of wonderful for Christmas actually this might be a good oil to dilute and burn as a room scent or to wear VERY SPARINGLY as it has incredible throw.

    Rum-Soaked French Tonka

yep, vanilla and slightly boozy resin - less vanilla on drydown but still absolutely gorgeous.

    The Appalling Abattoir

very faint, reminds me of "decadence" and soap.

    Haitian Vetiver

smells like dry twigs and smoke. I'm so pleased i got this, so THIS is what i liked so much in "The Hag"!

    Pumpkin V

Spicy pumpkin vanilla. Really straight-forward on me, nice and i'm thinking it will age well too. More spicy than i expected given all of the vanilla notes in the description.

    Chaotic

I'm going to have a really hard describing why i LOVE LOVE LOVE this scent. I did not expect to like it since i don't like florals and had no idea what heliotrope was like ... but apparently i love it? This blend is musky and smells failtly of fresh wild blueberries to me (i know, crazy right? I have no idea). There is something spicy in there, and something warm. I INSTANTLY fell in love with it when i smelled it, no strange "off" notes, no crazy morphing into weird stuff, just pure heaven. This is pure heaven, exotic, spicy, slightly musky sweet heaven.

Halloween In The Miskatonic University Library

Lots of pumpkin spiced latte and not a lot of library actually, the woody note sort of comes out later and thankfully the cologne is very faint and only apparent when wet (even then, it's more salty than cologne-y, kind of reminds me of salted carmels). There is a lot going on here and i find it to be a lot more coffee-heavy than Miskatonic. EDIT: ok, about an hour and a half later this is all salty aftershave and wood. All of the pumpkin-y coffe is GONE. WTF salty aftershave??

    Halloween In Innsmouth

This is a weird one. Really ... odd. It does smell kelpy, salty, incense-y/resiny and dark. the aquatic is not the high piercing aquatic note we usually get but very ... funky? Definately more atmospheric rather than something i want to smell like, though dry-down is a lot better and leaning more towards a spicy sort of incense. Well, at least it isn't FISHY

    The Black Temple Burlesque Troupe

cocoa, incense and ... carmine lipstick?? Something in there reminds me of the smell of the lipstick my Grandma used to use (by Coty) ... strange.

    Badgers

izile isn't the only one that thought she smelled coconut somewhere in there during drydown! On me, it is soft, sweet and amazingly well blended. the leather note is really not at all sharp (I am generally ambivalent about leather) and honeysuckle smells like a very fresh vase-flower to me, freshly sweet but not cloying. The patchouli, vanilla and sassperilla are what make it awesome though, it is the perfect sweetness held JUST barely in check w/ that subtle leather. I love it, it was the only NYCC oil i got and it makes me SWOON with delight <3

    Bakunawa

Very heavy up front, slightly aquatic and tropical, heavy on the orchid. Not my thing but a very sophisticated blend.

    Apple Orchard Atmosphere Spray

definately tons of red apples, but also just a bit of almost floral sweetness like in Annurca Apple Blossom SN, not just pure plain apples, it's a more complex scent than that though it is hard to say how. It is very fresh with just a hint of sweet floral underneath and a shot of juicy apple peels. GORGEOUS!

    Champagne And Absinthe

mostly citrus and gingerale w/ a bit of licorice! soft sort of scent, not a ton of throw and doesn't last as long as some of the other chanmpagne scents i've tried. really pretty and wearable (oddly, it gets ever so slightly wintergreen-smelling on drydown - probably it's the licorice though since those two scents are similar to me).
