    Amsterdam

In the bottle: That's tulip. On the skin: Water and tulips. Reminds me of th tulip fields in Washinton state. We'd always end up there when it was raining. I smell fresh cut grass in there too... Not for me.

    Lilith

In the bottle: ripe berries in the summer sun On the skin: Myrrh and musk for sure, mixed with wine. The berries are very strong with a smokey tint from the myrrh. It's like some twisted Catholic incense for a Black mass... I did catch almost what's akin to tea rose. I like this, which surprised me. Yay!

    Crossroads

In the bottle: overpowering flower incense. On the skin: It's like the incense child of Bayou and New Orleans. Heavy florals for me that just... my sinuses are punishing me.

    Lampades

In the bottle: cranberry juice? On the skin: Cranberry incense musk. That's a combo. I can detect a hint of ginger... and it's thankfully not a heavy musk. The tart sweetness of the cranberries is way at the forefront and actually really good smelling. Another keeper! Wow... I'm winning with this batch of imps.

    Brisingamen

In the bottle: Amber, myrtle and carnation! Plus minty! On the skin: Smells like the myrtle wood trees of the Oregon coast -- there's tons of shops that sell everything myrtle wood and this smells like you've walked into the shop. The carnations offset with their sharp sour tang, and the ambers are faint but present. Also the apple blossom is soft, like the flowers on the apple trees before they turn into apples. A keeper!

    Bayou

In the bottle: Wow, that's evergreen! On my skin: It's like honeysuckle and jasmine meet evergreen trees and moss. It's sharp watery floral combo. As it dried down, the flowers still overpowered everything else for me. There's almost a bitter rum smell to it, too. Extremely a flora and fauna blend.

    Eden

In zee bottle: holy figness. It's like bottle fig newton, minus the cake! On zee skin: It's ultra fig'n'honey. As it dried down, the almond popped, followed by the cocount. I barely noticed the sandalwood. It's a very nature-y scent, kind of like an earth meets food, to me. I could see this have been hugely popular with the hippy chicks back in high school. Bottom line: this is a fig-lovers dream!

    New Orleans

In the bottle: Holy Honeysuckle! On my skin: Still massive honeysuckle... and I can make out the jasmine. My sinuses are punishing me, though. As it dried, I could make out the spices, very subtle. The throw of the scent was huge, which impressed me. It's certainly a strong floral scent.

    Casanova

First smell in the bottle: Did this come out of a magazine sample?! On skin: Ok I can smell the leather for sure, anise/lavender/bergamot are all present, and the patchouli is strong in this one. It's very male, very warm and certainly lusty if that's your bag. As it dried down it was almost sour to me and the amber popped out. Would probably be a loved item by anyone who loves heady romantic scents. Sadly, not my thing. Pity it was my first frimp from the lab and didn't work out.

    Dublin

It smells just like the description says: woods with soft rose and a morning mist. Reminds me of walking through the woods on the beaches of the Oregon coast in the late morning after a night of stormy weather. Earthy, like damp trees drying out in the weak sunlight. The white rose is sweet, off-setting the dampness of the alder. Almost like wet meets warm. It's a soft scent, very feminine to me. A keeper!

    Languor

Extreme lily. Lordy! And paperwhites. I can't make out any of the "opium den haze" or the poppy, but I can't escape the overpowering lilly and paperwhites. Dang.

    Vice

It's one of those chocolate oranges bottled! Argh! The cherry subscent is just... too strong. I can't even smell the chocolate over the orange and cherry! Drat. I love orange, but the cherry kills me.

    Absinthe

It's funny how I know a lot about absinthe and its history, but never have been in a place where I could smell the actual stuff. In the bottle it's very wet and you can smell the burn of fresh mint in the back of your throat, mixed with the herbs, wormwood and a dash of sugar. As it dried down, the herbs and wormwood popped, along with the cardamom. The lemon was barely noticeable, but it's there. The mint is pretty strong, but not in an overpowering way. Almost a sophisticated scent, suitable for evening dinners/social occasions.

    The Lion

Somehow Beth bottled the sunlight warming the tawny coat of a big lion. I'm seriously impressed! There's almost a bitter tang to the amber, probably is ginger or something that is sweet but not overloaded. It's like sun in a bottle and dries sweetly on my wrists. Just a whiff of it is like a pick-me-up mood lifter. It reminds me of how my cat likes to lay in the sun and you smash your face into his fur and it smells of warmth and life and love. I'm in love with this one!

    Beaver Moon 2005

Thickly frosted sugar cake explosion! It's almost over-sweet for me (the first time I tried it I think I got a bit too much on and I got a nasty headache ) but I love it! It's like the thickest sugar frosting multiplied by 20, the thick sweetness of luscious goodie-two shoes in a bottle. You want to eat it, it smells that delicious! I love beavers!

    Kyoto

I don't know if it was the combo of the white sandalwood, star anise, or cherry blossom... I could very much make out the cherry blossom (which, cherries aren't my thing and you think I would have stayed away... )and it smelled like sharp black licorous (which, I also dislike. Argh two strikes!) which literally blew my sinuses out of the water. I managed to wear it two minutes before having to scrub it off. Damn.

    Jazz Funeral

Being one of my first actual chosen imps, I was excited. And I wasn't disappointed! When you first smell it, the hints of rum and bourbon and really light and the smell of flowers isn't overpowering. At first I could only think of candles I've smelled, it was almost sharp. But as it dried down, the flowers kicked in. It's very soft, almost sweet. Partially the magnolias and the rum, I'd suspect -- it does kind of remind me of the casket sprays which is probably morbid but I've been to a lot of funerals. I have to be practically jamming my wrist up my nose if I want to smell it, but I honestly don't mind because it smells so sweet and tasty! Yay, one winner in my first imp pack so far!

    Black Opal

It took me all day (and help from my mom, who was going crazy trying to figure it out too) to place what's in this. At first smell, I kept thinking "buttered rum!?" because I love those Lifesavers. The longer I wore it, I could smell a hint of lemon, licorice, possible anise... and there has got to be vanilla in there. My mom insists it's got gardenia in it as well. I really liked it -- it's a very womanly scent and wears well all day. For some reason, I felt like a girly pirate all the time I wore it.

    Hunger

Oh yes. Yes yes yes! This was one of the first Imps I ever tried, and instantly became my personal favorite. The black narcissus, orange blossom, and vanilla are so well mixed; neither outweighs or overpowers the others. Spicy, warm and sensual -- the longer you wear it, it stays with you. After a day or two of wearing it in a row, you notice the vanilla more, but it's not an over-powering vanilla. Even the orange notes you catch. Simply beautiful!

    Hades

Smokey, spicy. Almost a "hot" scent. Could be very male at times. Literally kept me warm all day. I love black narcissus, so I instantly noted that. Would be a very good scent for the boyfriend/husband to wear!

    London

Reminds me very much of little old ladies in tea houses. Very heavy rose scent, like walking through a garden of tons of blooming roses in mid-summer. Pretty much like I imagined when I was at Hampton Court in the dead of winter... Warm, heady, almost with a tang. A little goes a long way! The longer I wore it, the more it seemed to grow, scent-wise. Kind of got annoying -- tended to stick in the back of my throat. I only put it on my wrists and rubbed it in. It carried through my hooded sweatshirt sleeves. Which is pretty good, since most scents soak into the sleeves and get lost. I'd recommend it if you like strong scents, of roses and tea or like making a bold statement.

    Akuma

A very "bright" scent. You can seriously smell the raspberry and the blood orange, which give it a very citrus-y tone. Honestly, I'm entirely reminded of a freshly opened bag of Gummi Bears, the lemon ones especially. It's kind of a sweet/sour blend to me. Almost too much so to wear. I left it on for an hour and had to wash it off. I like it, but I'd have to blend it with something to wear it all it all day.
