Oils with the strongest throw or sillage - the most noticeable scents
marzstar replied to lunalight7's topic in Recommendations
i know it is either how far a scent wafts off of the wearer like how far away you can be to smell it or how long it lasts i think it's the 1st one, yes? and if so what is the term for how long a smell lasts? (so far a favorite of mine, dee, lasted the shortest. like as in less than one hour 'till you couldn't smell it on me at all... sad.) -
(my 2nd review ever) i like this a lot . . . in the bottle. a really simple and balanced blend of pomegranate and rose, just as the description says. i wish it stayed that way on my skin the moment i put it on all the pomegranate disappeared and all i was left with was rose a nice rose, mind you; great great for rose lovers; (though my fav rose so far is blood rose) though not what i want to be wearing i think rose is a just note that totally punctuates with my chemistry and i don't like smelling all flowery so no thank you to this one though i do wonder what will smell on me as this smelled to me in the bottle . . . a fruitier thicker smell with only the faiiinnnttest hint of rose . . . i'll have to let y'all know if i find that blend. xo m*

this is my first review from the description i thought i would like this and i love the iconography of alice so i wanted to like this one, too i love milk and honey and am an earl grey tea drinker (bergamot) and though i wasn't sure about the carnation or not, i thought i'd give it a try from the bottle, this smelled way more milky than i expected really sweet and warm yet light not heavy so i put it on second i did every bit of warmth i liked about it disappeared oh no, i thought but i thought i should let it settle so i did but as it settled and dried it shifted more and more away from what i liked about how it smelled in the bottle and continued on this way until i had to go scrub it off there's other smells i've put on that i was not super fond of but i could tolerate wearing... this one i couldn't even let stay on my skin for a mere 15 minutes i just couldn't handle it. feared a headache. . . is this what carnation does on me? guess as i try more oils i will learn what notes work and don't work on me. strange that i really liked it in the bottle but yeah i HATE the way it smells on me synthetic cheap powdery medicinal and really strong a reviewer above me said bug spray. good analogy :\ smelled as if it was wearing me rather than me wearing it so much that it was still present even after i washed it off as much as i could gross.

Love an Aveda scent or shampoo, looking for a BPAL that's similar?
marzstar replied to Fishwomon's topic in Recommendations
first off i am a girl and i don't like too many perfumes i prefer oils though over the years i've gotten into just a few commercial scents the latest being Aveda MEN and i get so many compliments when i wear it (even from my mom haha) they call their perfumes 'pure-fumes' for they're not as chemically as many other commercially bottled smells so if anyone happens to know what this smells like and can recommend a bpal oil to use in place of it (even a mixture of more than one) i will be very very happy aveda wears off too fast anyway i like a lot of their smells though and will probably be posting more in the forum asking if anyone's discovered other similar oils to aveda smells... like shampure. and chakra V: creativity. cheers marzstar
