    O

First impression, in bottle: Sweetness! Golden! HONEY! Delicious, lip-licking honey. But NOT foody. I don't want to eat it. I just want to keep smelling it. I'm not sure how well I identify 'amber' notes; I just know that there's something dark cutting the sweetness a tiny bit and I think that's the amber. (Amber is used to this effect in a much less subtle way in Stella McCartney's dark rose perfume.) The vanilla is there but has a light touch and the honey remains center stage. This scent is warm and sensual, and I keep marveling at this scent that is honey but not foody. I hate perfume that just makes me hungry. More than food, this scent makes me think of girl-juice. It is called O, after all. This makes me want to beat up pretty girls. In a good way. I got this as a freebie sniffy when I bought some imps through a BPAL comm. Would like a small bottle, though I fear I might get tired of it. Must be in a particular mood to want to wear something this sweet all day, though would be very nice to wear to bed.

    Whitechapel

A description like that, of course, made me think immediately of Dorian Gray, and if there is one fictional gentleman I wouldn't mind sniffing, it's Dorian Gray. In the bottle this doesn't smell anything like most men's cologne, so I discounted that right away. After several hours I remain committed that this scent is thoroughly unisex and indeed rather dignified and un-ostentatious. In the bottle and fresh on skin, the lime leaps forward, mingling with a grapefruity citron scent, tart enough to pucker the lips of passersby. I've often been attracted to citrus scents and it seemed very strong even to me. However, it mellowed out quite quickly as it dried, and a nice, faintly lilac/floral musk balanced out the tartness. Eventually this pleasant white musk odor dominates, though the lime still lingers in the background. Unlike many women's fragrances, this does not turn too powdery or soapy-smelling after a few hours of wear. Unlike many men's fragrances, this is not too sharp (initial lime shock notwithstanding). This thankfully does not make me reek of too many flowers. Whitechapel is a wonderful, wearable, elegant and all-occasion unisex scent. Considering buying a small bottle. Dorian Gray would likely approve.

    Succubus

Dark headshop with dried orange peel. Gothpalooza. To be worn with black velvet and long drapey black dresses. Add heaps of black eyeliner and serve hot. I don't smell much bergamot here. A dark, smoky neroli is very strong and blots out most anything else. Come near me and be knocked over by a cloud of it. Come closer so I can stuff cloves up your nose. This is not a subtle scent. I have a 5ml bottle, which I will keep, though from which I might be happy to decant an imp or two... I don't wear it often but when I want it, I want it. Very powerful and sexy.

    Tweedledum

Bright, sweet, tart! Either not very complex or I just wasn't paying much attention. Should give it another serious try. Didn't get much of the green tea or any of the patchouli. I wanted it for the gree tea and in spite of the patchouli. Mostly I get "green and tart fruits" from this summery blend. Not terribly juicy or foody, and a little soapy. Nice. But....eh. I'll keep the imp but will pass on a bottle.

    Tenochtitlan

I loved the description so much I bought a 5 ml bottle unsniffed. (Quite some time ago, I might add, and I've been in denial trying to make it work for me ever since.) Unfortunately, while I was looking for spicy herbs and a desert feel, I got bubblegum. The oil is juicy, almost mouthwateringly so, in the bottle and juicy-fruity when wet, but after a moment it turns to bubblegum on me. It was supposed to be so exotic! But...bubblegum. I'll be swapping it methinks.
