Enraged Bunny Musk!!!!

Morocco Bath Oil matches the perfume perfectly, and when applied as a moisturizer, it extends the wear-length of the perfume dramatically. But the bath oil scent is also gentle enough that it layers beautifully with many other scents without overpowering them or changing them. I can't really pick out the separate notes in the bath oil because they are so well-blended into a smooth, softly spicy scent. And there isn't enough spice or cassia to burn the skin when applying right after a shower, which can happen with some of the other bath oils (I'm talkin' about you, Pumpkin Pie Bath Oil
)
This isn't an "in your face" spicy scent either, and it stays close to the skin. I have a meeting one morning each week in which several of us have to squeeze around a conference table, and I'm not afraid to wear it to work on those days.
Just a lovely scent, and so happy to have it added to the GC! Thanks, Puddin!

TMI alert: I rarely sleep well- if it's not thoughts of my highly stressful job waking me up in the middle of the night, it's the hot flashes coupled with having to get up to pee every 2 hours.
I have tried some other kinds of lavendar-scented products in the past, but they didn't really help me sleep. But so many people rave about it that I decided it was time I tried TKO. I smoothed the massage oil into my arms and hands, and it soaked into the skin very nicely, without leaving a greasy residue. The lavendar was pretty strong at first, but it quickly faded into a soft, sweet blend. I just got this two days ago, and for the past two nights, I have slept straight through the night until 5:30 AM- unbelievable! This can't be a coincidence.
I only wish my husband would learn to give a massage so I could really get the full benefit... he's the world's worst. So I'm going to take this along the next time I can splurge on a professional massage.

Disclaimer: I use my bath oils as an after-shower moisturizer for my dry, parched skin. The texture of the oil is smooth enough to apply easily, but it soaks right into the skin without making me feel greasy. I can get dressed shortly after applying and smoothing in the oil without staining or ruining my clothing.
When applied, Anthesteria is very much a strong grape/wine scent, but not in a boozy way. For example, I'm not afraid to apply it and get behind the wheel and have to worry about being pulled over if a police officer smelled me.
I don't really detect the thyme and oregano, or even the honey, but I think they all blend in to keep the grape from being too sugar-sweet grape Kool-Aid scented.
Wine perfume lovers take note:
This is the same grape/wine note that is found in three of my favorite perfumes: Urd, Centzon Totochtin, and Makhanitis, so I am a very happy camper!
I will have to order a 2nd bottle as a backup before this leaves.
Editing on 8/6/11 to add to my original review: Whenever I wear this, I get a ton of compliments. Men and women have literally stopped me in the grocery store aisles to ask about my wonderful scent! So now I'm really regretting that I didn't buy a backup bottle.

I've never tried Glowing Vulva perfume, so I can't make a comparison. However, when I first sniffed this from the bottle, I was afraid that I had made a mistake in ordering it, because the cream was very prominent in a slightly soured way. I detest the taste and smell of actual milk and cream, and they always smell sour to me.

I adore the Post's bath oils and also know that you can't assume that Beth's scents will be exactly what your nose detects in the bottle. I applied some oil to my arm to test it further, and the sour cream note quickly faded. So I I took a leap of faith and did what I always do: hopped into the shower, then toweled off and applied this all over as an after-shower moisturizer. The cream note softens and the teak comes out very strongly on my skin, followed by a slight spice, which is how amber often turns on my skin. I don't get the lotus itself, but the overall effect of this is absolutely beautiful and I am very pleased with it.
It's also wonderful layered with Man With Phallus Head. But of course, why wouldn't it be?!

I wore this for the first time yesterday. I don't know why I didn't try it last year, because I adore Snake Oil, and the other honey blends I've tried so far have been good. This is the perfect blend of the two, mostly a sweetened version of Snake Oil, and it lasts and lasts. It was still going strong when I went to bed. I love it so much that I ordered a backup bottle right away.

Death of Autumn has always been my most fall-like scent, but it's gotten even smokier as it has aged.
-
I can't believe that I never reviewed this scent. I know that I commented about it in the "I Love This Scent" and the "Receiving Compliments" threads! I love every single note in this scent, and together they are blended into the best pumpkin scent ever! Yes, it's a dark, spicy pumpkin scent, and I get tons of compliments whenever I wear it. So happy I ordered two bottles when it was live.
-
I bought a bottle of this right away when it went live because I adore red musk blends, so when I first wore it, I was disappointed that I was not as in love with Mircalla as I thought I would be. So I set her aside, but recently decided to give her another try. I've been on a red musk kick lately and alternating all of my various red musk scents. OMG after aging, this has shot up to become one of my favorite red musk blends! The clove is just beautiful and the red musk has deepened, as has the vanilla. All together, Mircalla is fabulous, and now I'm sorry that I didn't buy a backup bottle to age at the same time.
edited for spelling
Edited years later because I ended up buying 4 bottles of Mircalla when she went up on Etsy. It's become one of my very favorite scents!

At first, I get a "hit" of vetiver but it is so fleeting that it immediately fades into the dirt scent. It is quickly followed by a spicy chocolate wine scent, almost the notes in my beloved Centzon Totochtin. In fact another one of my favorites is The Premature Burial.
Aha! If Centzon Totochtin and The Premature Burial got married, their daughter would be named Penny Dreadful.

This was a lab frimp. I really don't care for many floral scents at all and rose really hates me. However, frangipani is another name for plumeria, and plumeria is the one floral that I adore. It reminds me of my trip to Hawaii many years ago. So despite all of the other floral notes listed, I took a chance and tried it on just because of the frangipani. Fortunately, it comes out strongly on my skin, and isn't drowned out by the rose or tuberose, and even the jasmine is somewhat complimentary on me. Bottom line, it's decent enough that I will wear this imp in the summer and use it up, but won't order more.
-
Unfortunately, this has an initial burst of leather followed by sweet sweet floral. Leather hates me, and I don't get any of the wine. This isn't for me.
-
Initially, I could detect the mint, but only as a mild menthol note, and it quickly faded.
What I really get from this is Snake Oil with a strong shot of champaca. I love this and am ordering a backup bottle right away!

I'm just not sure what else will go with Red Lantern. Anyone?
I think that The Death of Sardanapal and The Arrival at the Sabbath and Homage to the Devil (Salon blends) are both a bit similar in feel to Red Lantern.
Snake Charmer layered with Red Lantern is gorgeous.
And I've never personally tried it, but I could see Goblin's sweet coconut and darker tones working well with RL.
Milk Chocolate, Raw Ginger, and Butterscotch would add more of the spiced caramel scent...
Thanks! You've given me some good ideas, and I have Snake Charmer and Goblin. Now I just have to place an order for the Red Lantern spray, along with a few othe Post goodies.

I'm really excited to see how Red Lantern atmo spray compares to the Red Lantern perfume, but I would also love to get some recs for other perfumes that it will compliment. I like to spray my atmo sprays on a neck scarf or just a spritz above the top of my head so it barely drifts onto my hair. I'm just not sure what else will go with Red Lantern. Anyone?

Staying home tonight with hubby and watching Jim Carrey/Disney 's "A Christmas Carol", after I slathered Snake Oil bath oil as an after-shower moisturizer followed by aged Snake Oil from 2006. Snake Oil smells like warm spicy vanilla and is perfect for the end to the holidays (as well as any other days
.)

hackess, I love your spreadsheet and use it to keep my own updated. I just noticed something while making notes on my sheet- I can't find the last Dark Del Four Horrid Novels series: Horrid Mysteries, Clermont, Mysterious Warning, and Midnight Bell on it. I don't see it on your spreadsheet either, but my computer is acting up and my Excel search isn't working properly.
(edited because I'll PM hackess about this in case she doesn't see it here, but if anyone else wants to manually add those scents to their own sheet in the meantime, they can)

I'm not a particularly huge vetiver fan... but I've been to Madagascar recently and smelled some vetiver soap that just made me lose my mind...
I think it can be a very nice thing... then again, most scents that have vetiver in them, seem to have patchouli in them too... and... I don't like patchouli... nor amber.. two scents that I seem to amp like crazy, and finally I can smell only that.
I'm looking for GC here tho, impable GC...
I'm already ordering Serpent's Kiss, since I know I love dragon's blood, and know that it's kinda of a salvage note for me... anything with it works for me...
But I'd like some more recommendations, if someone has any...
Since you like dragon's blood I would definitely recommend Bloodlust. Yes, it also lists patchouli, and I do love patchouli, but on me it's all dragon's blood and vetiver. Very dark scent, though.

I am one of those who continues to try the Samhain perfume each year, because it ought to be a holy grail scent for me but somehow comes up short. I never get the pumpkin or apple, just the fir and woods with spices. It's not bad, just not perfect. That's why I passed on getting Samhain Atmo Spray the last time it was offered.
But being an eternal optimist, I decided that this year I would get the Samhain Atmo Spray, because I thought, maybe I will get some pumpkins and apples from the room spray. Well, at first spray "maybe" was all.
That being said, the Samhain room spray is definitely autumn in a bottle, and it's going to work out much better than I thought at first! I have last year's Knock-A-Dolly for sharp fall leaves and spices, and comparing them, Samhain is definitely a sweeter spicy fall scent. Also by comparing them, I finally detect the apple. I am definitely glad I bought a bottle.
edited: now that I've had a chance to use this several times at home, and brought it to work to spray my office, I can definitely detect apple first with all the other spices and notes listed. I sprayed my desk chair, and several days later I can still detect it. Several co-workers who have walked past my office have stopped and said that my office smells wonderful. A little goes a long way, so my bottle should last for many Halloweens to come.
Those who love the perfume are really missing out on something wonderful if you don't snag a bottle of this while it's available!

This is definitely full-on patchouli, but I do not at all get the "head-shop" or "dirty hippie" feeling (not that there's anything wrong with that!
) It's a very woody patchouli, outdoorsy, with almost a pine note at first, but which fades into a smooth patchouli, probably helped by the honey.
This oil is much thicker than my other Trading Post bath oils, but it still spreads easily and smoothly and soaks right into the skin. (I use my bath oils as an after-shower moisturizer.) The ingredients list is in very fine print, and even with my reading glasses I'm having a hard time making it out, but for those who dislike mineral oil I don't see it listed as an ingredient on this one. However, don't hold me to that, because I can haz bad eyesight.
I'm very happy I ordered a backup bottle, as I can see that this will layer perfectly with so many of my perfumes!

Centzon Totochtin! Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood. Even though red musk isn't listed specifically as one of the notes, I think it's part of the blood component. I love Midnight Kiss, and found that Centzon Totochtin has a very similar feeling to that. It's in Excolo, and it ages so beautifully I have a backup bottle stashed away to age. The bottle I'm wearing is from 2006, and the boozy notes from the rum and red wine have smoothed out and it's all very well blended.
Also, it sounds like your tastes have changed, if you now like Smut and Mme. Moriarty, so if you can find Midnight Kiss I'd retry it, too.

In the bottle and at first on my skin, this is overwhelmingly cherry-almond. In fact, sniffing it from the bottle made my nose twitch (not in a good way) but I know that you have to apply the scents to truly experience them. So at first on my skin, there was a strong maraschino cherry mingled with the almond, but I am surprised at how quickly it softens and fades to something wearable.
Then after drydown, all of a sudden there was this beautiful scent that is exactly like a cherry tobacco that my husband used to smoke in a pipe when I first met him! I know there are no tobacco notes listed, and no one else has mentioned this, but I swear it was the perfect cherry pipe tobacco scent. It stayed that way on my skin until the scent completely faded.
The overall scent is not long-lasting, and after the initial burst it doesn't have a strong throw, but it was beautiful while it lasted. I am definitely keeping my bottle.

This is some discussion of this in the Carnival Diabolique thread, but thought I should post here as well. Can anyone comment about similarities between WILF and Temple Viper? The notes for Temple Viper are: Snake Oil with sugar cane, frankincense, champaca, opoponax, labdanum, and hyssop.
WILF is: Warm fur coupled with red and black musk, vanilla bean, patchouli, champaca flower, juniper berry, chocolate peppermint, frangipani, browned sandalwood, ferntop ash resin, and massoia bark.
I love WILF, and on my skin it's primarily Snake Oil and champaca. I'm guessing that is due to the musks, vanilla, patchouli, and sandalwood notes that are likely components in Snake Oil. I really don't get the chocolate-peppermint-juniper notes at all.
I've yet to try Temple Viper, and have been wondering if there is enough similarity between the two that I have enough bottles of WILF to satisfy me, or do I spring for a bottle of Temple Viper too?
Some have posted that they get a similarity between WILF and Boomslang, and I've yet to try Boomslang as well. So... anyone want to chime in here?
