    Lotus Moon 2006

I am definetely not a Lotus hater, although it is not one of my favorite notes, so I didn't really have any reservations about this. But WOW it is nothing like I expected! On my skin, it starts out wet smelling of lotus and roses, with some slight resin in the background. As it dries, it smells like Sleepy Moon + Lotus. This is mostly how the scent stays on my skin, until it fades. I don't know how long this scent lasts yet because I wore it to bed last night and it certainly relaxed me to sleep. I am defintely happy with this blend, it is very relaxing and sweet. I think that it will do perfectly for me as a blend to use before sleep, or whenever else I need to feel calm and very feminine.

    Eat Me

I have to admit that I usually don't like foody scents, but I felt compelled to order these since I am so Lewis Carrol obsessed (oh the wonders of marketing). Anyway, I must say, I am loving this scent! In the bottle it was actually hard for me to smell anything (but perhaps that is because I have been testing scents all day!). Perhaps a hint of currant and vanilla. On my skin wet, it was quite sickenly sweet. Like a huge vanilla sundae with berries on top. Thankfully, as it dried, it mellowed into a nice angel food cake with currant, like others have said. The vanilla is defientely well blended and mellow. I love this! The lasting power on this isn't the longest for me, but that's OK because I definetely don't mind reapplying This seems, especially compared to Drink Me, like a light foody scent, perfect for people like me who are a bit skeptical of wearing foody scents.

    Athens

Yet another imp that I had put off trying....I don't know why I did that, since this is such a warm, amazing scent. In the vial, it smelled mainly to my nose of wine and light florals. however, as soon as it hits my skin, the honey and myrrh come straight to the forefront. All of the notes seem to blend well together for quite some time. This scent lasts forever on me, meaning, at least hours. As it becomes "faded" it smells a lot like anubis- a honeyed myrrh scent, which I love. Eventually, I plan to own a big bottle of this.

    Dragon Moon 2006

In the bottle, Dragon Moon smells very scary, to me; very overpowering. Wet on my skin, it was almost pure Dragon's Blood with a hint of tea and bamboo. However, as it dried, the Dragon's Blood disappeared (almost, there is still a hint of it there) and I smelled more of a white tea/lemongrass/bamboo smell. I can't really detect the sandalwood at all, nor the cherry blossom. Perhaps that is because I am a bit unsure of what cherry blossom smells like. I did not expect to like this blend, and mainly bought it out of complusion to buy the lunacies, but I must say, I really love it. it is very fresh and clean, perfect for doing outdoor gardening or other work. Fabulous scent!!
  5. I always use Euterpe for important performances (I'm a classical/ avant garde musician). Euterpe is my muse and this blend always does wonders to give me confidence and focus. Perhaps it is the mental association, but nevertheless, it works great for me. Also, this fragrance is much much better with age, so I recommend letting ti sit a few weeks before you use it. (I also get tons of compliments backstage...i.e. "what's that great smell!?" which is always nice)

    Jabberwocky

I got this in my second BPAL order a while ago (I ordered a 5ml unsniffed...I think mostly based on my love of Through the Looking Glass ). When I wore it, like many others, I was surprised at how little lasting power this had. On me it smelled like a lovely pine forest, once the drydown happened and the eucalyptus went to the background. I love the scent, but couldn't justify wearing it as I'd have to reapply every hour or so. So, Jabberwocky sat on my shelf and was highly neglected for months...until I found it's ultimate use- bath products. I have so far used the Jabberwocky to make a sugar scrub, and it is perfect- very invigorating and lovely in the shower. I think the rest of my 5ml will be devoted to putting it in bath products and craft endeavors in the future.

The most hippie / hippy scent you have tried?

Gotta add to the Anne Bonny recommendations. It is my all time favorite scent!! Also.. Malediction (gotta second this one, such an amazing deep scent) Greed Sloth Grandmother of Ghosts (I don't know why, but this smells very headshop on me) Dance of Death Caterpillar (another 2nd on this) gotta love the hippy scents

    Beltane 2005-06

I wasn't quite sure if I'd like this (although my compulsixe ordering complex made me do it anyway) since I am not the biggest green floral lover, but I was quite surprised when I got this. It smells on me like a more floral version of Dorian. I swear I get this this hint of vanilla! I love how fresh and sweet I feel when I wear this!! That being said, Beltane makes a FABULOUS room fragrance. I'm finding it adds some elegance and peacefullness to my domain during these hot early summer days (yay desert living...). Glad I took a chance and ordered this.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

I don't think it is, but that is on my skin. I mainly smell sandlawood and chocolate, with a touch of smokiness. However, I noticed when I read reviews on the board that for some people whose skin amps up myrrh, the myrrh was very noticeable.... I would definetely suggest trying it though, it is one of the most warm and enveloping scents I have ever come across!

    The Best Mint Blends

If I want a really cooling scent in hot weather, I definetely go for Cathode, Embalming Fluid, the Mock Turtle's Lessons (a recent hot weather favorite!) or Asphodel

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

I think out of the ones you listed, Morocco and the Lion seem the most "fall" to me. For some reason, I see O as a great scent for hot weather, it just melds with your skin's natural scent. Anyway, I digress...what about The Great Sword of War? That scent seemed very fall to me...very complex and lovely (although it didn't last too long on me, but maybe for you that won't be the case ) AND...although it has myrrh in it, which I don't smell all that much when I wear it, Velvet, to me, is a great fall/winter scent. Very warm and soothing when it's cold and icky outside.

    Anne Bonny

Named in honor of the most notorious female pirate to ever set sail. Wicked, cruel, beautiful, intelligent, resourceful and dangerous: a true role model. A blend of Indonesian red patchouli, red sandalwood, and frankincense. This came to me in my first ever order of imps from the lab. It was one of the first scents I tried, and is my absolute favorite. On my skin it smells of patchouli and salty wood mixed with frankincense; I think it's the salty wood that makes this scent so unique and delicious. It lasts forever, and I always get compliments on how great I smell when I wear it, even from people who generally don't like "hippy" smelling perfumes (i.e. perfumes wth lots of patchouli). I am getting close to finishing my 5ml of it, and I think it will be my first 10ml purchase. yum yum yum

    Euterpe

I have to agree about the aged factor with Euterpe. I purchased a used bottle from someone that had been around for I'm guessing at least 6 months. Anyway, it smells of well, as everyone says, white musk, lemon and floral, but has excellent lasting power and does not go soapy. Since I'm a flutist and Euterpe is my muse, I wear this when I play most of my concerts, shows, whatever. The scent definetely instills some sort of calm awareness in me, which is perfect, and, I always get tons of compliments from people in dressing rooms or after the concerts. What could be better?

    Sandalwood Scents

For me, ultimate sandalwood scent is definetely Velvet! Actually, at first it smells quite chocolatey and then it is just pure, yummy sandalwood. Mmm Mmm.

    Al-Araaf

I am so happy to have finally got this one (I missed ordering it when DIMV was up). In the bottle, it smells almost exactly like Tiger Lily to me. However, when on my skin, unlike Tiger Lily, Al-Araaf stayed true to the scent of honeyed lilies, and did not go sharp on my skin. Perhaps it's the Lotus keeping things on the sweet side. This is a very gentle spring/summer blend that I am going to wear on those days when I don't want to be overly perfumed but still smell sweet and delectable!

    Czernobog

I got this one as a free imp from the lab a while ago. Today I finally got around to trying it...I guess I'm in the minority, but I really really like it on me. For a large portion of the drydown, it began to smell awfully medicinal, which had me scared, but after 1/2 hour it faded into a less sweet smelling version of Snake Oil. I can definetely see this as being a great scent for guys, but I will totally wear this myself when I want to feel strong and on top of things. This will definetely warrant getting a bigger bottle!

    The Pit & The Pendulum

This has got to be my holy grail "religious incense" scent! Although I am anything but Catholic, I have always adored the scent of the incense that they use during mass at my grandmother's church. This is the exact same scent (oddly more so than Midnight Mass, which I also love), and I am ecstatic to have found it! I am definetely going to use this as a room scent (and perfume of course)for when I'm feeling particularly nostalgic.
