    Thank you both very much!

    Summer Streets

Hey all! As always, sorry if this has been asked before but I didn't see any topics like this. I'd really like some recs for a scent that evokes city streets in the summer--asphalt, smoke, garbage (haha), city gardens, etc. I have Streets of Detroit on my list to try, but are there any other suggestions? Thanks so much! Brie

    Liz

I've had my bottle of Liz since 2012, and it has grown on me with age. That being said, I never seem to wear this one because it turns sharp on my skin. I adore the smoke and leather in this blend, but for whatever reason this turns mostly sour and sharp on my skin. I've never had trouble with the Lab's leather note before so who knows why this goes wonky on me. Wah wah I'll wear Haute Macabre instead

    Spanked Revisited

Whip leather, cardamom, patchouli, and bourbon. I was so excited to try this after years of dreaming of a spicy, creamy, leathery blend so I recently bought a bottle on the forum. I love the Lab's leather note and am beyond disappointed that I can't detect any leather in Spanked! Instead, I got dusty cinnamon. So much cinnamon in fact, that it made my skin burn and and after washing it off my skin is all dried out and irritated on the place where I put the oil. I thought about keeping this and seeing if maybe I like it after it ages, but Spanked is likely headed off to swaps...

    Haute Macabre

Unf. This is amazing. I bought this from the forum so I'm not exactly sure how aged it is, but it's sooo beautiful! In the bottle and on my skin, all the notes are so well-blended they just mesh into this glorious, creamy, sweet, leathery scent. If I concentrate, I can pick out some cherry-ish marzipan while the leather (creamy, rounded and not sharp) remains the most dominant and recognizable note. I luh this so much.

    Tombstone

This was one of the first imps I ordered. Fresh from the lab, it smelled like fresh cedar with rootbeer and not much else. It wasn't really my thing. HOWever, after taking a bit of a BPAL hiatus of about 7 months, I dug out some imps and gave Tombstone another chance. WOW! It had changed so much. In the imp and on my skin, it smells very well-blended but I can pick out some balsam and a wonderful spiced vanilla. It dries down to just the spiced vanilla smell, and it's so good. The throw's really good too! I also like that this "safe" enough for me to wear to work but fun enough to keep me interested.
