    Sudha Segara

This is like the amazing unscented perfume, to my nose. I sniff and sniff, and get a bare hint of something. It smells a wee bit like Snow White to me. It's definitely not creamy- milk is the word. The ginger is barely noticeable to me. I'd give this a 2 out of 5, as it's almost not there on me.

    Kunstkammer

Of the scents with a noticeable hit of orange, I like this one a bit less than Haunted Palace, which I absolutely looooove, but much, much more than 13, which was no good on me. I don't get any pepper in this at all, but mostly a sweet orange backed by some spiciness. Very nice. I still keep wondering what the heck a Kunstkammer is, yet clearly not enough to Google it I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

    Bearded Lady

At first I didn't love this much. It grew on me though. While it's still more "generic perfume" smelling than most BPAL fragrances, the vanilla finally won me over. It's only faintly rosy on me. Mostly it's a well blended grown-up smelling perfume. It's one I'd feel comfortable wearing at work, for sure, which is one reason I decided I liked it more than I initially thought. It's sweet, girly-but-not-too-young, and flowery. The vanilla and amber make it better too. Nice but not an enormous favorite. For me, it's a 4 out of 5.

    Gypsy Queen

This one is major smokey on me, and thickly sweet. Very incensy indeed. I don't get much floral out of this, just sweet resins, and smokiness. I do like, but it's so very potent I don't reach for it a lot. It lasts a very, very long time, and it pretty much occupies a room. It is one that is best in smaller doses. Fun, though, and exactly like the description would lead you to expect. I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

    Languor

This was a scent that as soon as I tried it I realized I HAD TO HAVE MORE. OMG NOW. It smells soooo fabulous. I'm not sure exactly what it is that creates that effect- there's nothing I can nail down as a single note in this. It just smells spicy, soft and amazing. Definitely getting a full size with my Sleepy Moon in a few days. Definitely! It lasts a good long time, which is nice- my skin usually makes things go *poof*. It doesn't change much over the course of it's life on my wrist either- I guess it gets maybe a hair spicier but generally speaking it's just a well blended perfect BPAL scent. And I'm thrilled it's general catalogue. 5 out of 5, for sure.

    Queen of Clubs

This is one I think I like. Maybe. It might be Too Much though- myrrh might be the culprit. And the fruitiness can be a difficult thing for me. But I like some of the notes... it just seems like it may be one I won't be able to cope with for a long period of time, and that I'll find myself washing off quickly. I'll give it a few more tries though. It sure is complex- just maybe too cloying. For now, I'm giving it a 3 out of 5.

    Sed Non Satiata

Mrrr, I love Sed! I had expected to; but this surpassed my expectations. The honey was the first thing I smelled- I'd forgotten the notes when I tested it, but I was positive it had honey just sniffing it. The honey is the strongest note, with the patchouli ( !) as a noticeable backup note, and the musk too. I don't pin the myrrh down specifically- perchance because I'm not sure what it smells like. I don't notice a boozyness, but I often either don't notice booze notes or hate them if I do, so I'm glad. I really love the deeper, spicier BPAL scents, and this is definitely one. Anyway, the gestalt of these scents all together is just delightful. They become more than a sum of their parts, like the best BPALs. I will absolutely, totally need a full size of this. I'll have a hard time choosing between this and O some days! The honey of this one does fade a bit, though, allowing the spicier notes out to play. Full on 5 out of 5, one of the best catalogue scents I've tried by far (and I dunno how many I've tried so far, but dozens).

    Wolf Moon 2004

Ooh. I likey. This is what I'd hoped Buck Moon would smell like- kind of wild, slightly good musky, and all yummy. It's cool, clean and night-smelling. There's also some spiciness hiding in there. I don't get berries, but that's not unusual- fruit usually either disappears or turns sour on me. No pine either, or maybe just a bare hint... hmmm, no, I don't think so. I am really glad I have a 5mL on the way. The lunar oils are way in the background in this blend, thank goodness. I like a hint of them, but too much and they overwhelm everything (I'm looking at *you*, Pink Moon!) I'd give this a 5 out of 5.

    Strawberry Moon 2005

I didn't have high hopes for Strawberry Moon. In fact, it languished amid the rest of the more loved Lunacy imps I have, untested for probably two weeks or so. Finally I got around to realizing I'd ignored it and decided to rectify that. It was that good. Damn! Who'd have thunk something strawberry scented would be that amazing? It's just a bare hint of strawberry- a delicious, lovely strawberry- a swirl of creaminess, and then some indefinable wonderfulness. Sage? Lunar oils? Green tea? I dunno, but I like this immensely. It's like a more wearable Pink Moon for me (Pink Moon goes deadly strong, and though I like the scent, it is just overwhelming and I don't wear it much- I can't put on a small enough amount)! I let the boy smell me and he didn't get strawberries at all, which is nice. I wasn't really looking forward to smelling like one. This is a great, girly sweet pink blend. EDIT: I think it's the ylang ylang that I'm loving in this. It does lovely things on me in general, and I think the ylang ylang ovewhelms the strawberry (a GOOD think in my opinion!) I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5.

    Budding Moon

Another that I can't define the notes of. It's very sweet, but a clear uncloying sweetness. I suppose it's a floral, but it's not one that is overly flowery or perfumy on me. I definitely smell the lunar oils in there- they get pretty strong on me usually- but this blend has them fainter than some lunar oils, yet not as faintly as, say, Holiday Moon did. It does remind me a bit of Kitsune-Tsuki, which also works well on my skin. All in all, I definitely need more than the imp I received today I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5, just because there are others I like more.

    Harvest Moon 2005

This is one of the blends I have no flipping clue what I'm smelling. With a huge stretch of the imagination I can almost get apples. I do get a hint of spice. Whatever else there is is a gorgeous amalgamation of yum. One that everthing is balanced perfectly in. Light, yet has a good throw. Lasts well. I don't really get anything um, very autumny out of it. Nor do the lunar oils go nutso like they sometimes do on me. Just a really nice fragrance. I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5.

    The Unicorn

OMFG. Yes. Unicorn me! I tried this in a mad BPAL multi-testing evening, when I had like eleventy billion scents all over my arms (and one knee!) I kept smelling something wonderful. Sniff here, nope, sniff there, nope. Finally found it was indeed The Unicorn smelling amazing. Linden blossoms? Maybe. I dunno. I don't get so very much a floral from this as simply a gut reaction of YUM. I must admit I don't love the name, I'll feel a little dorky admitting to people that I'm wearing The Unicorn if anyone asks, but I can live with that for the divine scent. It smells clear sparkling white to me. Quite sweet. Not ethereal really or wispy, it's reasonably assertive on my skin. I will definitely need a full size of this, stat! Full on 5 out of 5, plus it's much different than my other faves, which generally seem to be foody, ambery, or seriously exotic.

    Kurukulla

Wow, this one has some power. I can smell the tiny dab on my forearm from here as I type. The lotuses and roses are amazingly good together. I've struck out on several other BPAL rose blends, but Kurukulla is actually not turning weird. It's piercingly sweet, though, for sure. I may not wear it a ton but I like it. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5.

    Val Sans Retour

Definitely a cleaning product scent happening here. I honestly didn't leave it on long enough to see if it lasted well- I simply didn't enjoy the PINELEMONPINEPINELEMONPINEPINE thing going on. Sharp and astringent. Anyway, perhaps this won't be the final release version. I'd give it a 1 out of 5.

    Antique Lace

Antique Lace is a delicate, ethereal scent on me. It's softly sweet with a vanilla like base, no florals, and some powderiness. I truly am enamoured of it. I will probably make it a priority to order a full size when I do another order. It doesn't change at all on me from bottle to skin, though unfortunately it is a quick fader on me. Oh well. I don't get linen either, which from other linen based BPAL blends, is a good thing- White Rabbit and I hated each other. I'd give a 4.5 out of 5, for lack of lasting power.

    The Sun

The Sun is lovely. I wasn't thinking I would like it at all- heliotrope? Cinnamon? Both usually are Teh Suck on me. Instead, I get a wonderful bright, honey-amber-barelycitrus scent. It's phenomenal, and is extremely sunny, yet not overwhelming. I love it. I'd get a 10mL, and probably will eventually. This is very, very similar to Haunted Palace from the Demon in my View series. Like REALLY similar. Not identical, but if I ever use my Haunted Palace 5mL up The Sun will definitely be a great substitute, enough that I really won't have to hunt up a new bottle. I'd give it a 5 out of 5.

    Hellion

Dagnabbit! I did not need to love Hellion. I'd already fallen hard for La Fee Verte. I like the scents but frankly I really don't dig that they're inseparable from the statues. I know, I know, everybody loves the statues, but I just don't. I suppose I won't have a hard time getting rid of them but still, I'd have preferred to choose to just get the scent. Anyhoo, enough ranting, but the point is Hellion ROCKS. I got thoroughly addicted to Hellion. I realized I'd like used a third of an imp in a week or something retarded like that. I broke down! Seamus is on his way... with his gorgeous scent! I'm not sure what it is that reminds me of Snake Charmer within Hellion, but it smells in some weird way related. It's much sweeter and fruitier, but the deep under-scents are amazing. I think both Hellion and Fee Verte are just remarkable. I think Beth pulled out all the stops and used some truly top notch, incredibly wonderful ingredients (for example, the honey absolute in La Fee Verte has to be a really freaking expensive and quality ingredient, it lasts and lasts and smells so amazing). The one thing I don't mind about the packaging is the 10mL only. Otherwise I would have had to buy two anyway!

    Miskatonic University

I likee. It is primarily coffee at first, with some cream and whiskey. Then as it dries, the wood and dust emerge. It gets darker, deeper, and so, so good. I do truly love this scent. Oddly I don't wear it a lot- it's too fun to cherish it, and look forward to using it on rare occasions. This is absolutely unique. I love having a delectable coffee scent. Plus the wood notes are something I really enjoy, especially when they're barely there, like in this one. I'd give it a 5 out of 5.

    Queen of Spades

The Queen smells rich, exotic and spicy to me. Sweet, strong, I can't pinpoint any notes I have to admit. I like it very much though. It's heady, it has staying power, and it is pretty potent too. I WISH this wasn't so ungodly expensive on Teh EBay though. I lucked into an imp in a giant set (and Skadi too) and I'll have to pet and cherish said imp, since it's not likely I'll break down and get full size. If I was head over heels for it, like Snake Charmer, I might. Maybe. I'd give this a 4.5 out of 5. Lovely exotic scent. Not too fruity. I picture it as a deep gold color.

    Skadi

Skadi is a lovely scent. I have to say that it is quite similar to Snow Bunny and Snow Moon too. Skadi is the piney-est of the three, and it has the heaviest mint, which Snow Bunny also has. Snow Moon is the sweetest of the three, and Skadi is the tartest. Snow Bunny and Skadi are alllllmost indistinguishable compared one on each wrist. Snow Bunny is a bit more complex, a hair sweeter, and a little less harshly pine scented. They all three have slush/snow scents too. Skadi is nice, but I certainly don't cry that I can't get a bottle with the other two similar scents stocked up. I'd give Skadi a 4.5 out of 5. It was a great scent, but I think Beth refined the idea a bit in '05. I like the less-aggressive pine in Snow Moon & Snow Bunny.
  21. LittleGreyKitten

    Cold Moon

Wow, I love Cold Moon. It has the famous slushy/snowy note Beth does so well. It lacks the fir/pine scent that others with the slush scent have (Skadi, Snow Moon, Snow Bunny, etc) and basically just smells wonderfully delicate and chilly. It's not floral either. It doesn't last enormously well- possibly 2 hours- though I admit I was being very stingy, just having a pitiful little lonely imp. I do like this Lunar blend a lot. I'd give it a 5 out of 5. Edit: Raised rating- this one really, really grew on me and I neeeed more! It smells so subtle and icy, I love it!

    Spanked

Wow. I really didn't like Spanked (frankly I'm grateful at this point, since I have been in the habit of falling hard for impossible to aquire scents). Spanked was straight cinnamon (which I don't like), leather (also, not a fave) and dust. Not for me. I don't know why cardamom read as cinnamon for me. I'm not a fan of Blood Moon, either. I think it might be that I don't like the patchouli in some BPAL mixes, which is funny, since I have long been a fan of it, since I didn't like Alone either. Anyway, clearly my imp needs a better home since others loved this. I'd give this a 1.5 out of 5 for me.

    La Fée Verte

Oh man. I LOVE the Green Fairy. The smell is just divine, and I'm pretty sure it's the honey absolute and the vanilla scents that are so divine in there. There's just a hint of herbal greenness to make a perfect background for the superb honey and vanilla notes. I accidentally put on A CRAPLOAD of this- exploding imp!- and man, it smelled good. Everyone who came near me loved it too, which is nice, since sometimes I've been known to like things which others find annoying smelling. I especially like the lengthy drydown period where the herbs and citrus fade and the honey absolute and vanilla come out to play even more- delicious sweet soft creaminess ensues. So anyway, drat it, but I had to order a Balthazar. No Seamus so far. No. Seamus smells nice, but not divinely delicious like Balthazar. (Can you tell I'm trying to convince myself? ) Defintely a 5 out of 5; this may very well be a top ten.

    Sugar Cookie

The Cookie is absolutely delicious. I traded some Brains (the Mi-Go variety) for it, and the Cookie is infinitely superior on me. I wore it at work and one of my co-workers was positive I was hoarding freshly-baked something in the back office. Nope! Just the Cookie. Anyway, it is very buttery, sweetly sugared, and only a hint of cinnamon (thank goodness). I'm not sure I get boozy, but anyway, the mix is just about perfection. The boy loved it too. It's massively strong though, but at least it's not one that will likely annoy other people. I wanted to add that I tried Egg Nog finally, recently. I no likee the Nog. It has the unfortunate distinction to be the only scent to become the dreaded Play Doh/plastic. However, in the imp it reminded me of an inferior, watered down Sugar Cookie. The more I wear Sugar Cookie, the less it reminds me of cookies, and the more it just smells like divine, spiced vanilla. It's truly a favorite. Anyway definitely a 5 out of 5 for me.

    Al-Araaf

I've really liked a lot of the DiMV oils. This one is also nice, but it's not absolutely bowl-me-over yummy like some. It smells kind of non-specifically sweet. I can smell the honey after I re-read the description, but it's more muted than other BPALs with honey. I don't know what lotus root really smells like, so I'm not sure if it's coming out or not. Some soft, soft floral is there too, but quietly. I happen to very much like the honey that Beth uses, and indeed I like Al-Araaf. It just doesn't knock the socks off, that's all. It has some stiff competition, though. I'd give it a 4 out of 5. Quite wearable, not too strong, but not totally amazing on me. I wouldn't fear wearing it to work and bugging people with over-potent perfume, though.
