    Kyoto

Gorgeous light creamy cherry blossoms. It's a little acrid in the bottle, sharp and clean. On my skin this mellows into a beautiful pale floral scent, very cherry blossom and sweet. The anise and sandalwood are giving this a very faint woodsy tone, but it's clean and clear. All I am reminded of is standing in Washington and smelling the rows and rows of blooming cherry trees. Beautiful scent, light and a good everyday wear. A keeper!

    Djinn

Fantastically complex. Smokey in the bottle, so much so that I was hesitant putting this on this morning. On my skin it stayed smokey, sharp and crackling. It's the smell of ashes and wood and the sting of smoke the second after you douse a fire. It's almost angry at that point, but soon drifted off into something more wispy and sweet. The ash smell is still there, but it's a cooler ash now, a little less biting, very herbal and masculine though. Sadly after a few hours this rather soaped out on me so I'll add it to the pile i"m sending to my beloved to test

    Kali

I'm going to save this one to try a second time as I think my chemistry is just wierd today. A rich, fruity scent. I'm getting a lot of wine in this but the chocolate and honey are there on the dry down, making this sweet but still somehow punchy. I'd like to give it a second try and see if my skin works more on it so more in a few hours.

    Gift Certificates?

:grins: and here I was thinking Tygher's would be good too (and vixens, and dolphins, and evil st's..and... damn I know a lot of people who use this stuff!)

    Penitence

Pretty but not me. It's a very resin/incense scent, very dry, very pretty, and very catholic church. This is neither over-powering or too sweet, but definitly an incense smell. This is gorgeous to smell but while I enjoy the smell of an old church, I don't really want to smell like one and all this is making me think of is confessional. Eep! Into the swap it goes, lovely as it is, very much not me.

    Gift Certificates?

Don't worry If an option's not available, I'll put a nice little card in the box - they'll get the hint. It's not like they need encouragement to come running here

    Queen of Sheba

A definite richness to this scent. It was very anise-smelling on me for a few minutes but that seems to have mellowed into the honey and spice combination that many have mentioned. There is a definite underlying current of strong, heady spices here, but the predominant scent on me is almost sickeningly sweet almonds. I love almond smells but this is almost too much. The longer I wear this the more it tends toward an incensey smell. Lovely but not for me, I'll stick with my old morocco and my dana o'shee

    Mystery

In the bottle, a light incensy/lemonish smell. uh oh...lemon. On Application - as others have noted this went very soapy on me, a light lemony smokey soap that, after drying sort of faded away.. if there was such a thing as lemon cigarettes, I imagine this is what it would smell like. I'm not getting any of the anise which is dissapointing as I like anise. Oh well, of to the swaps with ye!

    Blood Lotus

Rich and fruity in the bottle. This remains a dark, fruity floral on me, rich and gorgeous but wierdly it's just not doing much for me mentally. It's not that it's not a lovely scent - it strikes a very nice balance between sweetness, floral, and something richer and emphatically red, but I prefer the more winey dry down of blood rose on me. Into the swaps so someone who adores it can find it.

    The Hesperides

In the bottle, clear clean crisp apples. It sweetens when I first put it on, giving the caramel apple smell others have talked about. After a half hour or so that sugary sweetness had dissapeared leaving a ripe, golden, apple smell. It's gorgeous. This is the smell of walking into the local orchard store, Mack's Apples, and just standing there surrounded by apples and spices and glorious fall scents. I'm worshiping this scent, a straight dose of part of new England's fall (the only season I WILL miss when I move) love love love love it. Huge bottle.

    Inferno

Ow. In the bottle, wet spicey almonds. On me: Whoa, smell the cinnamon. Gorgeous scent! Hot and spicey and... ow... ow...hey OW! Conflagrant wasn't an idle warning. Unfortunately I forgot as the red welts in my cleavage, behind each ear and on my wrists can attest. I now know what a chemical burn feels like - which is truely sad as I adored this scent. Ah well, swapping it goes as I'm just not willing to go through that much pain for perfume - even one of Beths

    Lucy's Kiss

I wasn't sure what this one was going to come out like, but as I'm a major Dracula fan I was all bouncey. In the bottle: Roses roses more roses. The dry dusty kind. On me: The first hour was a very strong straight rose scent. However, as the scent mellows it's definitly got a hint of warm spices in there. Nothing too overwhelming, and the main scent is predominantly rose. Actually, this smells almost exactly like what my Arabian Rose oil smells like - which is nice but as I still have an entire bottle of that left, I'll be adding this to the swap pile despite my longing for the spiffy name.

    Muse

In the bottle: Jasmine, strong and floral. On me: ka-pow, lime layered over Jasmine really makes for a crisp, tart floral. I can't decide if this is reminding me of somethinig else so I'll use it a few more times to be certain it's a keeper but I really adore the splash of lime in this.

    Hurricane

I'm an air and fire person so I was interested in this and Inferno in big ways. There's a definite aquatic, dark, dank, deep note to this. It's the scent of going out on the back porch in the woods when there's a big storm roiling through. It's also the scent I get when I'm driving pell mell through a thunderstorm with my windows down, getting soaked and loving every minute of it. There's nothing nice about this, it's just tangy, fresh, and merciless. Very sharp at first, a stronger darker version of some of Beth's lighter aquatics that I just swooned over. It's a lovely scent, strong and fresh and yet somehow menacing. However, it dried down sweet, fast and slid right into soapy baby powder on me. Bad chemistry. no biscuit. Sadly this goes into the swap due to my silly skin.

    Haitian Lover

Received as a freebie and as the boyfriend is currently fifteen hundred miles away, gave it a go. Very almondy in the bottle, but like rotting almonds, dark and sweet and a bit "off." On my skin, insta-marschino cherries that slid into something darker as the scent mellowed. It smelled like marschino cherries gone corrupted and slightly smokey. There's a faint herbal underneath, something sassafras like. In the end, this just ended up very sweet in a not-innocent sort of way. Decadant and sinful and very come hither. I've added this to my swap pile but if none of the friends pick it up, I'll try it on Jake when I see him.

    Port-Au-Prince

Mmm intoxication in a perfume bottle. A rich, boozey, warm scent. It's very strong in the bottle but mellowed nicely into this gorgeous rum-filled, clove hinted concoction. A definite keeper -though whether my boyfriend or I will end up wearing it more remains to be seen. I didn't find it overly masculine on me, just rich and warm and spicey. I'm sorely tempted to go pull out the Anne Bonnie and see what these two will do with one another as this is very much reminding me of an island port filled with heat, rum, and pirates.

    Shattered

Crisp and minty in the bottle and just as sharp, clear, and cold on my skin. I loved this one from first sniff. Yesterday the dry down on this was pure grapefruit and mint, a strong cooling scent. Today, I can get a little more of the champagne and fruit smells, but it's still lovely even with todays apparantly odd body chemistry. A definite keeper.

    Scarecrow

This one is in my swap box. Not because I hate it - but because I adore it. But moreover I would like to adore it on the little spot where my beloved's neck meets his shoulder. I'm sending it to him to see what he thinks. Put this on this morning and immediately scrubbed some off because it was so intense. THe sharp, almost acrid smell in the bottle eased out into exactly what the description says. This is a scorched, hot, heat baked hay field - the sort you and your horse get lost in on long trail rides. This is possibly why I like it so damn much. Hot winds, dry grasses, and a good gallop. Dry, tinder-box ready grasses and strong spiced earth. It's definitly too much of a masculine scent for everyday use but I'm seriously contemplating ordering a second imp so me and the beloved can both play with this one. Purr. Also wondering, on that horse theme, if adding De Sade to this would be good or just too positively sinful for words.

    Blue Moon 2004

I never thought I'd want a 10ml of something. Wow there goes that thought. This just came in the mail today and I broke me "one scent at a time" rule, scrubbed the scarecrow off most of my body and found a free elbow crook to apply. I cannot seem to peg this scent in the bottle. As others have noted it's juxtaposing so many scents at once that it makes me nose tingle and spin. Putting it on, it's very berry-ish at first, a lot of bay and Juniper dancing about with one another but as it dries there's a definite scent of the moonflower and cucumber cooling things down. This is bringing an image to mind of moonlit nights dancing and then relaxing in cool evening grass. I adore this scent. Worship it even. It's going to be torture decanting the imp I promised to Selena, but with a name like that, she's getting one anyway on sheer principle. I'm in love and ooo is it wonderful.

    Veil

Floral and green in the bottle, lots of violet here. On me, it mellowed quickly, leaving a faint waxy, buttery scent which quickly smoothes out with the lilac. Pretty, soft feminine... and where'd it go? Like it's namesake it nearly dissapeared against my skin. A lovely scent but I'm going to re-swap this swap because it's just not me.

    Allegory

Received this through a swap and didn't know what to expect as it smelled very strong and earthy in the bottle. Upon application, it was very strong in the musky juniper department but mellowed quickly. If there's anything musky in here it's not finding me, which is fine. This didn't go strong or masculine as it seems to have on others. This has distilled into crystaline, sugar coated juniper. It's the scent of waking up in the tent on a chilly spring SCA morning in the middle of the woods. Sweet and refreshing and herbal all at once. I adore this one, it's utterly brightened my mood. A definite buy-a-big-one

    Hunger

The vanilla and orange blossom reminded me very much of a foody baking smell in the bottle. On the skin this has mellowed into an undercurrent of vanilla and creamy orange cut by a light floral. It's a lovely smell but ultimately very similar to what Snake Oil does on me so I'll probably put this in the swap pile. Edit: After some more smelling I've decided to lotionize this one too and see how that comes out.

    Pele

Hellooooo? Pele where are you? ::peers at wrist and bottle:: I'm perplexed. I can barely smell this. I'm wondering if I have a dud or if my nose is drastically off today, but even in the bottle it's barely there. But what is there... creamy tropical honeyed floral...GORGEOUS. It smells very beach-like to me, like the scent you get after being lathered in sun lotion all day and walking along a bahama's beach (I say this because this is exactly what it smelled like, if much lighter.) The good thing is - it _is_ like on me, which I adore as I wanted something not too perfumey to just add a little scent to my life on the hottest of days. Definite keeper (and maybe it'll smell more later)

    Glasya

Holy smokes this lady's got a temper. Strongly, strongly floral on the dry down for me but it's not an old lady floral. No, this floral is rooted in those deep musky scents, spicey and past warm right into burning hot. It's feminine, but with a huge kick to it. This one is too strong to wear on a regular basis but I think I'll keep the imp so I can put it on for nights I want to kick some tail and still feel like a girl doing it.
  25. Northernminx

    Ouija

A dry, dusty scent that leans more toward floral in the end. I can very much smell the rosewood and teak as this starts out, dust filled and warmed and perhaps draped with some velvet. It's a good smell but mellows quickly into something more floral. I get strong hints of rose and lilac after the drydown which, unfortunately, fade quickly on me. Pretty and nice but off to the swap pile.
