    Erato

Possibly the light sweet floral I was looking for. A definite soft rose scent, but there's a sweetness. The ylang ylang is ther at the beginning but fades quickly and leaves something soft and dusky, like soft petals on your skin. This is reminiscent of Juliet but with far more backbone and experiance which I really really adore. Another test will prove whether or not I'm getting a big one of this

    La Petite Mort

In the bottle I feared this had been swapped for O without my knowing it and indeed the first minutes of wearing it were very O-ish, that sweet musky almost chocolatey sex scent. This never really picked up any other notes on me, sadly, though it has softned into something a bit more softly powdery than O does. I may let this linger around for a week when hormones are not quite so insane and try again but at the moment I'm swapping this one

    Juliet

Sweet pea and honeysuckle and lily come out as predominant on me, the pear never really makes an appearance. A light, pretty floral but it's not doing much for me in way of actual staying power or noticability. It's very very sweet and delicate, very much like Juliet I suppose. Just like I wish many of Shakespeare's heroines had a little more oomph, I wish this scent did as well. It's an innocent, charming smell, but not me. Off to swaps.

Inferno bit me too but I haven't had problems with other cinnamon scents as of yet. I think it's a matter of degree (and I can deal with one or two issues in the huge pile I've tried as my skin is VERY sensitive and used to break out at the vaguest provocation of something unnatural.)

    New Orleans

It took two tries for this to do anything other than be VERY VERY Jasmine on me. A second wearing, however, dried this down to a spicey, sweet floral, some citrus and spice definite beneath the jasmine. Heavy and very very present, this isn't a floral for the weak of heart because it pretty much knocks your socks off. A keeper for me at least in imp form for the nights I feel like being so decadant I just can't help myself.

    Zombi

I was a bit frightened this would turn too earthy, or too rose scented as it was in the bottle. However, previous reviews and the description hit this right on the head. A dry, brittle rose with the oakmoss adding some earthiness, this is a dry, decayed rose blend, gorgeous and reminiscent of the bunch of roses i have dried on my dresser. I am not yet certain I'm keeping this one for extended use but another test or two will tell.

    Desdemona

A lighter scented floral, pink blossoms and wetness. Light perhaps, but still strong and a lot of staying power. There's something very refreshing and pretty about this but I don't see myself wearing it often because it REALLY hangs in there so off to the swaps

    Greed

Patchouli and I think maybe the moss are predominant in the bottle, something a little but earthy but still sweet. Wearing this however did not work overly well, as I was left with a faint, sticky, herbal sweetness so overpowering it turned my stomch. I guess I'm not greedy Swaps!

    Tears

This was beautiful for the first few minutes, a salty, watery, clean scent that was at once wistful but ever-present. I hate my chemistry however. As this dried down, it softened and soaped out and I am now left smelling a bit like a downy dryer sheet. A true pity as this initial phase of this was gorgeous.

    Dissipation

Dissipate this one did... It's light and fresh and green in the bottle, very very subtle. Sadly it stayed a little too subtle on application (for shame as I did want to love this one) The scent has since faded into a vague soapy scent. The ivy held on the longest, and then just...slipped away. Into swaps.

    Bon Vivant

Very sticky sweet in the bottle, I really wish my skin hadn't morphed out the champagne note so quickly on this as it really brightened and lightened the strawberry. In the end this was really a little too sweet for me, very berry but too reminiscent of the strawberry perfume I wore as a child. Off to swaps.

    Looking for a Gardenia scent

Right I'll be adding Sacred whore of babylon and a single gardenia note to my next imp order. My mother LOVES gardenias. I wonder if I can get the label past her or if I'll have to trim it off. Then again she's shown a wild streak far more than I would ever anticipate previously so who knows... Hmm christmas/yule gifts....

    Bayou

In the bottle green and aquatic (I can rarely pick out much in the bottle. Upon application this is a strong, wet, green aquatic scent. Just a touch of something sweet and mossy and maybe a little floral in there but it's rather androgynous and definitly wet and cool, evocative of shadowed waters and overhung trees that provide small moments of relief from the blistering heat. The scent smells humid, if that makes sense. That was all she wrote.... but I've spent two hours trying to figure out why this scent is making me all mellow and happy. It struck me, as my phone rang, that this is really a high class version of Jake's Cologne. Needless to say I'm packing it up for him because while it's nice on me, nothing makes me quite so happy as planting my nose on my beloved neck. Purr

    Ave Maria Gratia Plena

In the bottle, sandalwood and a sort of incensy floral. On me this never really picked up and remained very subdued and light and mostly, sadly, sandalwood. I am not a huge fan of sandalwood and while I don't mind it when it blends properly with other notes, when it overpowers a scent I'm outta there. This never got that knock down sweetness of a white floral scent for me but rather remained wispy and wistful and while pretty, not overly impressive for me. Into the swaps with ye!

    Tintagel

Dragon's blood resin can be scary for me as it has a tendancy to override any other scent with it and beat me about the head with that rich, fruity spiced scent. This is not neccesarily bad as I like the smell of Dragon's blood but I like the variety of spins Beth adds to it as well. That said...Tintagel in it's redness in the bottle made me eep. Sniffing it from the imp, straight Dragon's blood. Erg...okay... And never have I been quite so glad to persevere through my initial impression. The first few moments of this are decidedly all dragon's blood on me, but the juniper and bayberry kick in and sweeten things up a little. Every so often I get a vague touch of leather and that rich velvet smell of wine. Medieval halls needed this in the rushes to smell better... what a heady, complex, gorgeous, dear god I'm buying another big one, scent!

    Kathmandu

Erg... hmm cedar and something biting in the bottle. On me, this uh..ew. Well it was a nice thought! The cedar was momentarily predominant but then this strong astringent smell took over. Stinging nose, eyes watering, sharp and bitter scent. Went to scrub this one off. Wow that one hated me! The cedar was nice, whatever hit me after was not.

    Hamadryad

I ended up having to try this twice before I got the full effect. In the bottle, nutmeg with a touch of cinnamon, dry and woodsy. On me, the dryness is still present, a mossy woodsy goodness in the middle of a sun drenched, dry connifer forest, like stumbling on a hidden glen. The cinnamon and nutmeg smells sweeten and spice this just enough to make it a really special, dry earthy scent. Gorgeous, I'll be adding this to the big bottle list.

    Neo-Tokyo

Light and crisp in the bottle, rather ozone-ish. This lingered for a few moments with a delicate, light wet scent, cold and crisp. I could pick out the cherry blossom for a moment, and the ozone tang but then it just soaped on me. Sigh. Into the swap pile for someone it works with.

    Kweku Anansi

Ooo a preview scent! Dark and herbal and spicey, but not in an exotic spice sort of way. There's a definite wet, dark earth scent to this and a tang of pepper. Quite a lot of pepper actually, very strong and the vague scent of a burnt offering of something herbal upon first application. This was very strong and masculine when I first put it on but mellowed quickly. Actually it mellowed a little _too_ much. It's now vaguely herbal sweet with that overlay of black pepper. It's a stunning mix that i love but it's a little bit too faint to detect without putting my nose right on my wrist. Sadly, this one didn't want to stick on me. Sad sad sad. May send this one to the boyfriend as well

    Perversion

:flop purrrrr twitch: I want to roll in this scent, like slather it on in lotion and just lay in bed and be enveloped by it. While I am certain that was more imagery than you needed. Wow oh wow. In the bottle I got a lot of smokey vanilla but as soon as I put this on itmorphed into this stunningly complex but not overpowering creature. A spice of rum that fades quickly into a sweet, gorgeous tobacco scent softened faintly by leather and a touch of vanilla. The chardonnay makes fleeting glimpses but it's more like little sips that keep the scent clear and not too cloying. I love this. It's always a good sign when I put an oil on and go "wow I don't think I've tried anything that smells like this yet!" Definite keeper.

    Queen Gertrude

Somehow this has been sitting in my imp box for two orders now...bought time to try it! In the bottle: Violets! On me: I'm finally able to pick out that buttery but floral scent that is violets. (Beths' oils have been an education in defining single notes that I never otherwise would have been able to identify.) Lots and lots of violets, but there's an edge of bitter chrysanthimum and I can detect the delphinium cooling this down a little. It is a very regal scent, and a very haughty one. Pretty but not quite me. I'll probably send this one off to swap as the violet's just a littttle too strong for my tastes.

    Info about combining orders?

Haven't had that happen yet. I thouhgt my red moon order (placed on the first day) and the other july update had somehow gotten combined, but it turned out that it just happend I got extras of some of the imps I'd ordered. I don't think orders really get combined often as she does them in order of being recieved.

    Sin

In the bottle, cinnamon and sandalwood, a very dry scent. On me, the patchouli and cinnamon are battling it out all day, but unfortunately it's the patchouli that seems to win. This ends up smelling like a slightly spicier version of some of BPAL's other scents on me (anne bonnie with more spice perhaps?) It's yummy but not worth buying another bottle for - I was praying for more cinnamon. In the end this is just a little too masculine for wearing on any regular occasion. However.. mwa haha! Anne bonnie is lovely on my boyfriend but I wanted a bit more spice. Guess who's getting an imp in the mail to test A keeper, but for the other half of the brain instead of me.

    Moon Rose

I love rose scents and this one manages to skip being cloying and irritating - Beth does amazing roses! In the bottle, roses, straight and true. On the skin this is strong floral roses at first but after just a few moments it wisps away to almost nothingness. Then comes back. It went through several peek-a-boo stages of floral and not-there, when the rose scent would sort of sneak back into the gorgeous, wet, aquatic scent. Very very fresh and pretty. DEFINITE big bottle

    Red Moon 2004

This is red in the bottle, a vaguely spiced but calming scent with a hint of floral. On me, it mellows into a wispy floral scent. Sadly all the spice has gone away and there's just a touch of marigold and rue left. It's a little wierd and while not displeasing, not making me leap for joy either. Pretty, and while i"ll test it again to see if I like it or my skins being wierd, right now I may offer this one up to the needy masses so someone else can worship it.
