  1. (2009 Version)

I was honestly expecting something a bit more powerful than this. It's very resiny and incensy, but doesn't really have a throw. As it dries, it ends up being mostly waxy pine and not much else. Sadly, I'm not really a pine sort of girl.

  2. In the bottle, this smells like cakes made with nuts and honey. On me, it smells more like beer. Beer and cakes, yum. I don't really get much incense, but it's there's a slight powdery background that may be the incense talking. Luckily, it doesn't smell too much like I spilled beer on myself.

  3. This smells like cinnamon gum! Thick, slightly sweet and spicy. This is also the first scent that I've ever had any problems with as far as burning is concerned, probably from the combination of cinnamon and cassia. This scent is definitely not for anyone with sensitive skin! I can usually put anything on my skin and this burns a little. It's a pretty delicious smelling scent, though.

  4. In the bottle, I smell almond and sandalwood.

On me, it's super almondy, with jasmine and sandalwood in the background. As it dries, it stays really almondy with a woodsy background. It kinda reminds me of a generic hippie smell. Like a head shop.

  5. (Copy-pasta from a comment on LJ, haha.)

I'm awful with notes, so you'll have to bear with my abstract description.

It's kind of a sweet, smooth, spicy incense kind of smell. It's almost foody, but not quite. Definitely has a resin in it.

It's really dark, really thick, and really sticky!

  6. In the bottle, the scent is candle wax, blackberry, and a chilly wind.

On me, it starts off pretty milky, as it dries, the blackberry and wax come back. It kinda dances between smelling like milk and blackberry, and smelling like a blackberry candle. I think it's leaning more towards blackberry candle, though.

  7. This review might border on TMI.

I didn't really buy Bitch to wear as a nice perfume, I bought it for the aromatherapy aspect of it. Sometimes "that time of the month" is just miserable for me and everyone around me, lol.

It's super herbal when I smell it. Friends with better noses than I said there's definitely geranium, which apparently is used for "woman problems", as I like to call them.

Last month, I had one of the worst periods I'd had in a loooong time. Abysmal cramps, nasty headaches, and horrific mood swings. So I spent the weekend in bed covered in Bitch. And it totally helped me. My headache and cramps became more manageable, and I no longer wanted to throw knives at everyone I saw.

I would never really reach for this as a normal perfume, but when I need it, it really helps.

  8. In the bottle, I get caramel and almonds, with a little fruit.

On me, it smells very much like marzipan. There's also a kinda boozy note in the background... like a fruit liquor of some sort. It's very thick and sweet. When it dries, it just becomes more fruity.

  9. The 13s are never super-awesome-appealing to me for the most part, but I bought this one because it's my birthday month's 13.

In the bottle, it smells like mostly herbs and incense, with a background of chocolate. On me, it's kinda sweet and herbal. As it dries, the vanilla comes out more. I don't really smell the chocolate at all. This is definitely an herbal/incense kinda scent, and not foody on me at all.

  10. (This review is for Beaver'versary)

In the bottle, it's like I'm inhaling the frosting on a red velvet cake! When I put it on, it's more like the entire cake and not just the frosting. And as it dries down, I get more cream cheese again, but less in a frosting sense and more in a cheesecake sense. And I kinda smell what I first thought was a little spice, but now seems to be that dusty note that people are picking up.

    Delicious. :yum:

8/21: I just got a bottle of the original, so of course I have it slathered all over me. And I must say, it smells the same to me. I haven't done a side by side comparison yet, but I don't suspect that doing one will change anything. This scent has some lasting power, though! I'm still getting whiffs of cupcakes from my cleavage, and it's been about 10 hours. Mmm... cupcakes in my cleavage.

  11. This is a super special blend. It's one of my birthday month's Lunacies, it came out on my birthday, and it's the first Lunacy I ever bought. And yet, it took me four years to review it and I'm pretty sure this is my first time looking at the scent notes, too!

This is a bitter scent from the beginning to the end. I smell mostly rose, lavender and blackberry in the bottle. On me, the vetiver and tonka come out, and it sweetens up a little bit, but it still has a bitter herbal tinge to it.

This ends up turning a little metallic on me, but I really don't mind that. I'm glad I finally sat down and sniffed and thought about the specific notes in this.

  12. In the bottle, this kinda smells like generic men's cologne. On me, it gets very light and powdery (actually, more incense than powder, now that I think about it) and not at all what I expected from the notes. It turns from a dark woodsy scent to a light woodsy scent. It's not the sort of thing I usually go for, and yet, it's not powdery enough for me to dislike it completely. I think that aging it a little bit will make it very nice.

ETA 1/28/11: I was right, aging did make it quite nice! It's not quite as powdery as before. It's a bit smoother, and a bit spicier too. It still smells a little masculine to me. Reminds me of a darker Sunbird.

  13. In the bottle, this is definitely wine! The first whiff, I got a dryer Cabernet then I have in subsequent sniffs, but it's definitely a thick, heavy red wine. On me, it definitely stays that same dark, thick, slightly sweet wine. It doesn't morph much on me at all. It makes me smell like I've been boozing it up, and I'm totally fine with that.

  14. I don't know how I feel about this scent. As it dries, there's something in it that just puts me off, probably the licorice. Once it dries, I get a creamy coconut with a warm spicy background. I feel like I should like this. It's got a lot of notes I love in it. But with every wiff, I waffle between wanting to get rid of my decant, to maybe just keeping my decant, to wanting a bottle. I've never really had a scent that's gotten that reaction out of me before.

  15. No official description given

In the imp: spicy, wet fruits. It kinda reminds me of Eris

Wet on skin: Cherry, with some spice, maybe a little medicinal. Kinda cough syrup-y, but not overwhelmingly so.

Drydown: This is getting spicier as it dries, with the fruit in the background. Then as it stays on, the spice fades and I just get the cherry.

Overall: I'm horrible at picking out notes without a scent description. But this is a very nice, warm, fruity scent.

  16. This smelled really great in the decant that I got, but once I put it on, it went to nothing but vetiver. And while I really don't hate vetiver like a lot of people do, I was really hoping to smell the fruits in this one along with the vetiver. It also faded quickly, which was disappointing. :(

  17. In Bottle: Cold. Mostly minty cold.

Wet on skin: I smell mint and eucalyptus.

Drydown (3 minutes): This is sweetening up a bit, like there's some vanilla in the background. But it's mostly minty.

Drydown (5 minutes): Sweet mint. The mint isn't very in your face, which is nice.

Overall Impression: I kind like this! It's not my usual thing, but it seems like a very nice scent to throw on when it's either very hot outside and I want to cool off, or when it's very cold outside and I just want to embrace it.

  18. In Bottle: Sweet pumpkin and almond, with a rich background that I assume is the musk.

Wet on skin: Kind of a spicy-smelling pumpkin.

Drydown (3 minutes): Still pretty spicy. I assume that is the musk. That's pretty much all I smell at this point.

Drydown (5 minutes): For some reason this is turning super spicy on me. I can sorta smell the honey in the background sweetening it up.

Overall Impression: I must seriously amp brown musk, because that is ALL I smell in this scent. At least, I assume it's the musk that is spicing it up. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I kinda wish I could smell the other notes.

Edit: The musk seems to finally be calming down a little bit, but man, what a drydown stage!

  19. In Bottle: Orange and anise, with some clove.

Wet on skin: Clove and orange.

Drydown (3 minutes): The orange comes out a bit more. It's a sweet kind of citrus smell, not really sharp at all.

Drydown (5 minutes): Sweet, slightly spicy orange.

Overall Impression: I think I've found an orange scent that I don't mind having on me! The spices are enough to quiet down the orange enough that I can wear it. It's mostly the anise and clove dominating. I don't really smell cumin at all.
