    Ashlultum

In the vial: um, dryer sheets. wet on skin: very strong lilac. Dry: I was really tempted to wash this off, but I'm glad I didn't. The dry-down is really lovely. The tea is subduing the lilac, and the hint of musk in the background makes for a subtly sexay scent.

    L'Estate Atmospheric Spray

I was worried that this scent might be a bit heavy for summer, but I was wrong. It is gorgeous! All of the elements blend together really well. When I first spray the mist, vanilla is the top note with amber a bit of gentle spiciness in the background. After a few minutes the frankincense is detectable. The orange rind, ginger and cardamom are the lovely lingering notes. My DH likes this scent, too!

    Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener

I've been sitting around huffing my imp of SSS for a few days now. In the imp: herbal and spicy. Wet on skin: sassafras and vanilla, but not foody. Dry: Everyone will think I am mad to say this, but this scent reminds me of Laudanum's younger cheerful cousin. Where Laudanum is a dark, brooding scent (which I ), this scent is lighter and suitable for wearing in warmer weather.

    Rangoon Riptide

In the vial: this scent smells like a Scorpion Bowl; one of those giant lethal cocktails for two that is served a Chinese restaurants. Boozy, with tropical fruit punch. Wet on skin: mainly pineapple with a swirl of other fruits in the background. Not as boozy as I expected. Dry: surprisingly, the raspberry is the dominant note. This is a very sweet fruity scent.

    Beaver Moon 2007

In the vial: super sweet cherries, like cherry pie filling. On skin: this scent smells exactly like cherry cheesecake minus the crust. Those who like sweet foody scents will adore The Beave 2007.

    Worm Moon 2008

In the vial: rich soil with a whisper of spring flowers. On skin: freshly amended soil and a crush of fresh spring blossoms. A perfect balance of earthiness and floral.

    Nanny Ashtoreth

"she was such a naughty nanny..." as the Queen song goes. That is the lyric that popped into my head when I first sniffed Nanny A; I wonder if that is what Neil and Terry intended? In the bottle: this smells like a tack room in a posh barn. Expensive, polished leather with a hint of earthiness. Wet on skin: leathery goodness with a hint of sweetness that prevents it from turning into total dude-fume. Dry: a marvelous close to the skin, gender neutral leather scent.

    Aelopile

In the vial: verbena and cedar. Wet on skin: very cedar-y. I tend to amp cedar like crazy, so YMMV. Dry: The amber and laudanum really round out the scent and take the edge off the cedar and citrus. This scent did not have much throw and stayed close to the skin. A lovely scent that can even be worn in the most conservative office.

    The Coil

The Coil is a really interesting blend. In the vial it was mint, with something deeper, possibly the orchid, a a marvelously electrical charge of ozone. Wet on Skin: this blend is quite minty. Spearmint or cornmint, not peppermint. Dry: A wonderful refreshing blend, great for warm weather.

    Tiki Queen

In the bottle and on my skin this scent was a tropical uber floral. It is Tahiti in a bottle. This is a must have for those who enjoy long lasting floral scents.

    Opuhi

In the bottle: sweet spicy vanilla. This reminds me of the type of vanilla used in the signature dessert at my favorite restaurant in Key West. Wet: O_o. This is much sweeter than I expected. A bit cloying. Dry: The scent becomes much more mellow on the dry down and the ginger prevents the blend from becoming too sweet. Really Lovely.

    Boo Bam

In the bottle: I really didn't like this because there was a top note that reminded me of over-ripe fruit. However, I forged ahead and tried it on. I'm so happy that I did! Once it dries down it is soft and green with just the tiniest hint of tropical floral. This is a perfect warm weather scent!

    Lunar Eclipse

In the vial: dusty red musk. Wet on skin: suddenly this becomes unexpectedly sweet. Dry: sweet red musk. Boo.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

I would recommend L'Ecole de Filles. It is an innocent floral for those who don't "do" florals. It has herbal and forest-y notes in it, so it strikes me as happening upon an exquisitely blooming shrub whilst on a ride through the forest. I favor dude-fume, resins, and green/clean notes generally, but I'm ordering L'Ecole b/c the imp was so fabulous.

    L'Ecole des Filles

I was afraid this scent might be too floral for me with the white rose and jonquil. but I was intriqued by the ingredients. What does carrot seed smell like? In the imp: Green and slightly sweet. Wet: wow, the orange blossom really jumps to the forefront. Dry: this scent is a bit too sweet for me, but it is a lovely scent that is perfect for Spring. I think this would be a wonderful scent for a bride.

    Golden Priapus

As a dude-fume enthusiast I can't believe I haven't tried this scent before! In the imp: creamy and golden with a hint of pine in the background. Wet on skin: delicious amber and vanilla. Dry: Uh, oh. The pine started to amp. This is a wonderful scent for anyone who enjoys vanilla and pine. IMHO it is gender neutral and not strictly for gents.

    Peacocks

In the vial: very sweet floral. Wet on skin: This scent smells like it has lotus flower in it, although I don't recall lotus as an ingredient. This is a very sweet tropical floral scent. Where is the moss? Dry: This scent is not what I expected, but it is a great scent for those who enjoy sweet floral scents.

    Vampire Tears

In the imp: sour fruity candy and buttered popcorn Wet on skin: lemon pledge dry: this smells like the concession area of a movie theatre.
  19. Alchemy21599

    The Clod and the Pebble

In the bottle: this scent reminded me of a private study with sunlight streaming through the windows and a cup of hot sugared tea on the owners desk with exquisite writing implements at the ready. Wet on skin: this is like an incredibly personal bespoke blend, suitable for men or women. Dry: Distinctive, but not overpowering. This will be my second multiple bottle purchase from the Lupercalia update!

    Valentine of Rome

In the bottle this was spicy and fruity to me. It reminded me of my Mom's fruitcake and let me tell you, my mom makes le ne plus ultra fruitcake! However, once I applied this scent it morphed from foody to otherworldly. Wet it is gorgeous spices and incense and it just got better as it dried. I can't stop huffing my arm, but the scent is subtle enough that it is not overpowering and I willl wear it to work. This is a multiple bottle purchase for me for sure!

    Love's Philosophy

In the bottle: bourbon vanilla in skim milk. Wet on skin: wintergreen?!? Dry: The cream note must be doing Very Bad Things on my skin because the lovely vanilla goodness for which I hoped did not appear.
  22. Alchemy21599

    Greed

Patchouli and Oakmoss! Yes, please! In the vial: sweetly woodsy Wet on skin: the scent of old law books, which is a good thing IMHO. Dry: Delicious and elegant dude-fume. A bit too masculine pour moi, but I'm sure this scent would be amazingly delicous on a man. It is sophisticated enough to wear out, but subtle enough for every day wear.

    Hony Mone

I did not order a bottle of this scent because honeysuckle, jasmine, and almond are usually deal breakers for me. I cautiously tried a decant that was gifted to me in a recent Forum purchase. In the vial: spicy and rich, but not cloyingly sweet. Wet on skin: I was expecting cloying floral doom, but this is lovely. Sweet and spicy, not not cloyingly sweet, or the "dirty honey" smell. Dry: I don't know whether to be happy or sad! I was not expecting to like this scent and I love it! Now I have to try to hunt down a bottle...

    Bayou

I was reading through the GC catalog and I was delighted to find a moss scent that I hadn't tried! In the vial: yes, there is moss, an aquatic note, and a heaping helping of floral notes. Wet: I was not expecting this to be so floral, but I tend to amp jasmine and honeysuckle, so I suspect that one, or both, are part of this blend. Dry: Soapy doom. Not the scent of a languid Lousiana summer afternoon as I had hoped.

    Fruitcake

I luvs fruitcake IRL, so I was delighted to receive a frimp of Fruitcake from the Lab! In the vial: almonds, candied cherries and pineapple, a hint of buttery brown sugary batter, and a splash o' brandy. Wet: Oh noes! Lots of cherries... Dry: Thank goodness the scary cherries went away. Once dry this smells exactly like a freshly baked fruitcake! Maybe this will appear for Yule 2008?
