    The Mock Turtle's Lessons

The Mock Turtle's Lessons has absolutely nothing in it that I have a proclivity towards- I'm not much for fruit, aquatics, mint... But I picked it up from a friend on a whim and I absolutely love it. I definitely get the apple martini smell, but the mint blurs the edge so nicely that it comes out pleasant and subtle and clean. The scent actually reminds me a lot of Holiday Moon (one of my all-time favorites), so it's great to have a GC scent that's comparable for when my bottle finally empties.

    Melisande, The Puppet Mistress

Oooooh, Melisande. I'm one of those people who is always on the lookout for a good jasmine scent that isn't weighed down with something else (the closest I've come is Lush's Alkmaar), and this seems to be it for me. It comes on rather strong for me, but it's not unpleasant, especially when it fades a touch. The vanilla bean and the mimosa cut the potentially migraine-inducing combination of the jasmine and violet for me, and the musk gives it a lovely warm edge that reveals itself after about twenty minutes. Absolutely lovely. I've been looking for something like this.

    Red Phoenix

I'm new to BPAL and Red Phoenix is one of the first LEs I've tried and the verdict is still out on it. I guess my skin chemistry is weird because I didn't see anyone else mention this, but it keeps morphing on my skin about every thirty minutes. Red Phoenix starts as an extremely strong cassia and then it changes to patchouli within a half hour. And within an hour it's the red musk. Then it starts with the cassia again. I'm not sure if I love or hate this effect, but it is really, really interesting. The one thing I can definitely say is that it keeps me awake.
