    Dia de los Muertos

2005 I am with Sookster on this one, floral floral FLORAL! In the bottle: Florals, with a plastic tone??? Wet: FLORALS Dry Down: Florals with a hard candy type sweetness. It has gotten really sweet and really really strong on my skin. Stoopid chemistry!!!! Husband (who hates perfume and thinks my BPAL obsession is silly) started to sniffle and sneeze and have watery eyes. It has a very strong throw. 30 minutes: hard candy sweetness is more prominant now. It reminds me of another scent...I know! It smells like my mom's White Shoulders with hard candy. Not a bad smell but not me. I got no smoke, no chocolate, no pastries, tobacco. One hour: florals and candy, still going strong. Conclusion: I don't agree that this one is like Samhain, at least not for me. I have Dia on one wrist and Sam on the other. They are worlds apart. From the reviews of '04 Dia, I think that version might have worked better on me. I not a floral person, my chemistry just amps them to the point I stink. Don't get me wrong, this is a beautiful blend, I just can't wear it. I don't think aging it would help either. This is my first BPAL disappointmet, ordered on the description. I should have ordered Devil's Night instead. So this one is a swap for me, hopefully for someone's DN? Rating 1-5 on my skin, 2.

    Spanked

I have been deemed naughty by the BPAL imps, and I have been Spanked! This is actually the scent I was hoping to get! Thanks BPAL imps, you rock! In the bottle: Cinnamon? That isn't listed on the ingredients...hmmm. Not the CINNAMON of Poppet, but a subtler cinnamon. Like a craft store cinnamon??? I am undaunted as I know how BPAL blends are superb, and morph. Wet: Leather, LEATHER, and cinnamon. Dry down: Leather, cinnamon, cardamon. One hour later: vanilla bourbon, leather, cardamon Two hours or more: vanilla bourbon, leather middle, cardamon last. Lost the cinnamon smell. Never got patchouli, and I usually amp that up. It stays nicely blended and grounds it. Conclusion: OMFG! I am so hording this ! It should be a BPAL regular! They should start an S & M BPAL scent section, or maybe a "little shop o' horrors" section! I want to shag myself! Edited: because I forgot to mention that this oil is a rosey red color of a well spanked bum!

    Nuclear Winter

In the bottle: Mint with something sweet like faded bubblegum Wet: Berry gum or candy and mint Dry down: The sweetness goes way to the background. It smells like mint gum, but in a good way. I am not getting cold desolation, just a sophisticated mint gum. So far, not what I want to smell like. Stupid chemistry! Conclusion: I smelled like bubblegum and Wrigley's mint gum smeared on my skin. I like the scent, and the "idea" of it even more. My body didn't want to cooperate. :sigh: Ihoped to get frostbite from this scent. On to swaps it goes. Rating 1-5 on my skin, 2.5-3.

    Snow Bunny

In the bottle: berry Jolly Ranchers Wet: berry Jolly Ranchers, with a bitter stinky undertone! Whhaaa? Yuck! Almost washed it off at this point. Dry down: berry Jolly Ranchers, bitter stinky, no pine. 30 minutes: berry Jolly Rancher, bubble gum, and baby powder. At least the bitter stank is gone. Conclusion: Not for me. I wish it was, but noooo. I got no pine, not even a pine tree hung with berry Jolly Ranchers. And I wanted to see the label. Too sweet, when it hasn't got the stank. I am a more "masculine" perfume girl, I prefer Tavlikuu for my snow scent. Ahh my chemistry does not like florals or some fruits. This would be great if you can wear them! Rating 1-5, on my skin 2.

    Talvikuu

In the bottle: pine and a berry of some sort? I didn't really get snow, but "clean." Wet: more pine, more berry, still clean. Dry down: Pine, the sweetness of the berry has gone to the background. Something very cleansing to the nasal passages? Must be the eucalyptus. In fact I am now getting the snowy aspect as the eucalyptus amps up. But that is only on my right wrist. On the left it is sweet berry with pine and eucalyptus in the background. My left wrist smells like potpourri! DOH! I want it to smell like my right wrist! It is sooooo clean, and snowy! 30 minutes: Ok, the left is behaving! The berry is just there, peeking out from behind snowy pines. This isn't pine with a captial P, like Black Forest, which I didn't like on me. Conclusion: I don't find this dark or foreboding at all. In fact, it sparkles on me. It is clean fresh, and lovely. I must confess that this was the second time I tried this one. The first time I didn't get any berries. I did however get a scent I wasn't expecting, a subtle hint of ode d' dog. Not wet dog, or sweaty dog, but a dog that is slightly damp from snow. I am glad I am trying it again. I need a bottle of this. After a couple of hours, the doggie smell came back, stronger than before. I think it is the eucalyptus . So, no bottle of this for me, unless I want to reapply often so I don't smell like dog. OK again, I can't help it, this one intrigues me. On the right wrist this time I get doggie smell (it was left the last time) and on the left this has faded into a very nice smelling scent. I am going to have to try this again! Ok, ok, ok, ok, ok, k, k, k. I promise to quit editing this. But I had to try this one again. I don't know if I am just a stubborn idiot newb BPALer, or if anyone else has had this same thing happen. I just couldn't leave this scent alone. It intrigues me. So, I am trying it, yet again. I love it. I can't help myself. It is cold, crisp, clean, piney with a hint of sweetness. I feel like the Ice Queen in Narnia. Standing, regal, cold, in all white, amongst the pines. I must have a bottle of this before the Yulies are gone. I will order this from the lab. It seems the longer the imp ages, the better it gets. I don't know, it just rocks! So, this goes to prove, sometimes you just have to give a scent and your chemistry a chance to make aquaintances into good, or best friends! On a scale of 1-5, this is a 5

    Gingerbread Poppet

In the bottle: Buttery gingerbread dough Wet: Still buttery gingerbread fresh from the oven. Dry down: Cinnamon, cinnamon, CINNAMON! Ok, cinnamon decides to mug me and beat me up with a potpourri ball, leaving me beaten and with a rash on my cleavage. Ok, note to self, no spicey perfumes between the "girls." Wrists were ok, so was the neck. Conclusion: This just turned to cinnamon on me. I lose all the buttery goodness, the ginger, the cloves. On the up side, while I would have been one of the people who would like to have worn this one, I will gladly put it in an oil burner. It made my apartment smell lovely. My only fear is Three Witches will be amped to cinnamon by my chemistry. 12/24/05~ Ok, I had to come back and give more on this. I see others have done so, so I think I am not making a BPAL feaux paux (darn, did I spell that right?) . As I was putting some in the oil burner I got some on my fingers, so I put it on the wrists (not the cleavage, I still have a nasty long welt there from this). This time, the buttery smell did not immediately disappear, and the cinnamon amped up, but toned down and became more blended. So, now I am torn about ordering this, or Hearth. Waiting on an imp I ordered for comparison. I also wanted to edit this and say to anyone interested in this, you should try it, don't let my stupid chemistry turn you off! Rating 1-5 on my skin, a 4.

    The Rat King

This was a imp sent to me by Paperdoll! In the bottle: Dusty books and moss Wet: Dusty books moss, and a nice masculine cologne smell, musk, grass. Dry Down: Dusty books and wooden bookshelves they sit on. Smells like a large old house would smell. Conclusion: The Rat King wearing his dapper velvet frock coat, his golden crown polished to a shine, puts on a little toilet water. He may be a rat, but he is the king of rats. He has a date, with a sweet innocent little virgin standing on the threshold of becoming a woman, one little Clara, whom he share the house with. She has done something very dangerous, she snuck down while everyone was asleep to be with her Nutcracker doll. One lone candle seperates her from the dark. The Nutcracker symbolizes chivalrous, innocent first love, and the Rat King symbolizes that naughty, lusty love. This is a sensous, feral, lovely, sexy scent that on me (my bod loves the musk), stays for hours! I went to sleep and woke up and still smelled it. It might be more masculine to some, my mother would never wear this one (she is a floral girl), but on a woman like myself that smells better in typically "masculine" colognes, this is for you. Oh, yes, this is beautiful. I want to ravage myself! I must have a bottle of this before the Yule scents are gone. Another order for the lab, or someone who doesn't want theirs. My poor bank account! Must work overtime to pay for my BPAL addiction, or maybe a second job... Rating 1-5 on my skin, 5 .

    Devil's Night

In the Bottle: The oil is a beautiful golden yellow, like a yellow candy corn was liquified into the bottle. Sweet orangey, carmel, buttery popcorn, or candy corn. Wet: Candy Caramel, slightly sweet.... Mr. Smoke, oh there you are, yummy! Orange and smoke are dancing while caramel plays the tune in the background. Dry down: Orange, candy corn, smoke has gone to the background, but not in a faded way. It is still very much there. This is very well blended! I think I am in love! 30 minutes: Orange goes to the background and plays the bass, and smoke comes out to do some scat while the carmel sweetness plays the horn. Ohhh yeah baby, sexy sexy, sexy! Over an hour: I smell anise, or licorice! A sophisticated licorice to be sure. She is sitting at the front table watching the band play. But it is not an overpowering scent. It just sits and smoke and caramel are still doing their thing, Orange is apparently on a break. I didn't really get a boozey scent, but this oil is so well blended that I was hard to pick out individual notes. Conclusion, MUST HAVE! Oh yes, you will be mine! I agree with whoever said that it could be worn all fall/winter and not be only an "Autumnal" scent. I wish it lasted longer, but then again maybe not. I love to reapply! Only, I have an imp, and it is going fast! And did I mention this imp was courtesy of DarkMouse? Feel the love DM! Using the Wicked Goddess rating 1-5 ~ this is a 5

    Dragon's Heart

Ok second time doing a review... This is a frimp from Brienze, thanks! In the bottle: Dragon's blood and baby powder Wet: Dragon's Blood and baby powder Dry down: Sophisticated baby powder. Smells like something, perfume/soap, that I have smelled before. I can't place what though. It smells familiar. It is lovely. Over two hours: Still going strong, and I mean STRONG. I didn't slather and it has great throw. It is so well blended I can't pick out the different notes now. It is just a strong perfumey kind of smell. This isn't for me. I think I will put it in the swaps so it can go to someone who loves it, loves it. Smelled later, maybe no swaps. Kind of vanilla-ish and warm. It keeps morphing and I like it more. I did figure out what it reminded me of, but better....Shalimar!

    Mistletoe

Mistletoe 2005 Courtesy of Brienze! You rock! First review ever.... In the bottle: Clean, fresh Mistletoe, very light Wet: Mistletoe amped up, wow! Dry down: Mistletoe, and a subtle sweet berry smell. Like little white berries and mistletoe. BPAL magic, smell just like the bottle says... mistletoe! 30 min: Get's softer and a little soapy, and sort of musty. Still mistletoe. LOL, left arm smells like berry with soft mistletoe underneath, and the right arm smells the opposite. I smell very Christmasy/Yuley. It doesn't have great throw unless slathered on. Though I slathered it on between the "girls" in my cleavage and I did catch whiffs of it. It did fade on me pretty quick. I like this one on me... but I like it better as a room scent. If you want to smell like mistletoe, buy this one! Yes Virginia, there really is truth in advertising! Rating 1-5 on my skin, 4.5, as a room scent 5.
