  1. I am so happy that I brought a bottle of Lady in Speckled Pink Kimono unsniffed :wub2:

I love the vanilla orchid in this, it adds a soft vanilla undertone to the scent. For some reason, I could swear this had a hint of strawberry somewhere in it, but that could just be the sweetness of the peony. Overall, its pretty and understated ... very soft and pink. A perfect springtime scent, but I know that I'll be wearing it year round. I might even need a 2nd bottle.

  2. I have tested this twice and it has smelt quite different each time. The first time it was very sweet honey & hazlenut, quite foody and not really my type of scent. Someone told me I smelt like maple syrup ... :umm:

The second time I tested this, the scent was much more well rounded - I could actually smell a hint of pine and leaves, perhaps some berries there in the background. The hazlenut and honey are still there, but they are not stealing the show this time. Although hazlenut is still the most dominant note, the honey has settled down. I only get what I think must be fur from the very final dry down of this. Blackbear Moon is a very interesting scent, I can imagine wearing it winter. The hazlenut and honey are a little too foody on my skin, but they had settled alot the second time I tried it. It was much better the second time.

  3. Glasgow is a soft, pretty floral. It goes on a little tart at first, but that soon fades. I don't get much blackberry from this, but I'm sure it's in there somewhere and my untrained nose can't smell it. I mostly get a soft, simple, floral which I think must be the rosy heather. Glasgow is a light, natural scent on me, and not perfumey ... it blends into my skin really well. The only drawback that I have about this is that it fades within half an hour, perhaps because it is such a light scent.

Edited to Add: Glasgow has really grown on me and I ended up ordering a bottle :wub2:

  4. I was very plesantly suprised by Sybaris, I like it so much more than I expected. I wasn't really sure if violets agreed with me but in Sybaris, they do!

It starts out as warm, spicy, violets ... it stays pretty much this way but as it begins to fade, the violets take a back seat to some of the spices. The clove and tonka make this is a very warm, luxurious scent. Overall, I like it alot :wub2: it has quickly made its way to the top of my bottle list

  5. I should have learnt my lesson that food scents don't work on me, especially ones containing honey. But, Cockaigne sounded so good ... and I like milky scents so I had to try it. On my skin its all cakes and wine - very sweet, sugary cakes. At first I got something a bit almondy from it, but that soon faded. Cockainge is a little too sweet for my taste, it would smell great on someone who suits sweet, foody scents. The wine definately gives it an edge.

  6. Like someone else has said, Eve reminds me alot of Persephone. At first it is all rose ... a sweet, juicy kind of rose which must be from the honey. After about 10 minutes or so the apple blossom comes out and it is about half rose, half blossoms. It's quite pretty, not sure whether I prefer this to Persephone, but Eve is much lighter and softer I suspect due to the blossoms in it. It's like Persephone's little sister. I can't detect any ylang ylang at all. I got a compliment that I smelt nice while wearing this so I will definately be keeping the imp and wear it when the mood strikes  Nice for spring and summer. If you like rosy scents like Persephone and Delerium then you will probably like Eve too.

  7. Zephyr is all lemon, musk and sandalwood on my skin. The sandalwood comes through the strongest. At first this smells a little harsh and dry ... and it does soften over time but it stays pretty sharp and white. I don't get any vanilla in this. I love musks, but the sandalwood and lemon dominate it in this scent. Overall, I can't imagine myself wearing Zephyr - it's a bit too sharp for my taste. It might be refreshing on a hot summers day though. I'll keep the imp in case I feel like wearing it, but I wont be getting a big bottle.

  8. Delerium is mostly rose on me. It's the same kind of rose that's in Perspehone - very bright and fresh. The lemon in this scent stops it from becoming as sweet as Persephone, the apple is there and adds some juiciness, but its mostly dominated my rose. I actually like the combination of these three notes, they make quite a fresh, vibrant combination. It's not a big bottle purchase for me, but it is nice.

  9. When first applied Blood Countess is all plums & berries on me - sweet plums with some gardenia and lilac in the background. It changes though, the sweetness subsides a little bit and I think that the opium comes out more. I can't smell any rose in this at all. On me this doesn't smell corrupted or smoky! It's actually pretty sweet and feminine. I would almost consider it an upbeat, spring scent. I really like the dry down of this scent, when I can detect the opium and lilac more, it smells more sophisticated than its burst of plum and berry sweetness when first applied. I would consider getting a bottle of this especially for when it settles and drys down. This is a scent that changes and smells alot better after 20 minutes or so.

  10. I'm not sure what it is in Juliet that smells so horrible on me. When I read all the notes I thought that I would love it and that it may turn out to be similar to Fae (which I love - a white musk, fruity/floral), but this just smells like a really bad sour, air freshner - its almost headache inducing. I couldn't detect any of the white musk or pear that I was looking for. I think that it might be the honeysuckle which turns bad on me because normally I am ok with lillies. I am going to remember to stay away from honeysuckle in the future. Juliet is not a scent for me, even though on paper it sounds as though it would smell great. I'm sure that it would smell beautiful on someone else.

  11. At first Desdemona is a very watery floral on me. It kind of reminds me of a bubble bath liquid I used to have when I was a child. After 10 minutes or so, the carnation and sweepea come out alot more and the soapiness fades away. There is spiciness from the Carnation and sweetness from the Sweetpea. The waterlily must fade on me quite quickly even though at first it is dominant. This is really pretty and quite a nostalgic scent. I really like it, my bottle list keeps growing larger and larger ... and I think that I will have to add Desdemona to that list. I think it would make a nice everyday scent, because its light and fresh, and would be good in spring and summer.

  12. At first the citrus and spices come through really strongly, and I thought I wasn't going to like it. Then after about 10 minutes it completely changed into a musky, magnolia with a few spices in the background - and maybe a bit of the Oleander in there too. I wore this to my driving test because it has quite a comforting scent and it helped with my nervousness and to feel more confident too.

Overall, I really like Hells Belle, it will probably end up going on my bottle list. I really like Magnolia :wub2:

  13. This was a frimp from the lab from my last order :wub2:

Dragons Eye is all Lily of the Valley for me - from the moment that I put it on, till it eventually fades away. This is a really strong scent and lasts for ages. I would recommend this scent if you like Lily of the Valley, I'm not really sure its for me though.

  14. I am quite new to BPAL and I have been testing heaps and heaps of imps lately - and out of all the ones I have tested so far Fae would have to be one of my favorites, if not my favorite BPAL GC (I still have a way to go before I test them all!)

Fae is soft, sweet, musky peach with a hint of heliotrope, I'm not getting any oakmoss. I love Fae  and will definately be getting a bigger bottle.

  15. This starts out quite sharp - I can definately smell that icy delphinium. On dry down it's all violets and wisteria, it's a fresh scent and reminds me of a meadow ... it also reminds me of something from my childhood. I like it and will keep the imp, not sure if I would purchase a big bottle though

  16. When first applied this is is sharp, green, watery scent on me. I think that the sharpness comes from the Orris. It's a little bit soapy and very clean, kind of reminds me of an air freshner ...

It dries down to something much nicer, the sharpness fades and I am left with a sweet, floral, earthy scent. Even though it didn't start well it changed into something quite pretty. I would consider wearing this on a trip to the beach because I find it quite aquatic.

  17. I was really curious to see what this smelt like on me. Overall, I can imagine a dry, barren landscape with this scent - but it is too sharp and harsh for me to wear ... kind of gave me a headache and I had to wash it off after about 10 minutes. This strikes me as being quite a masculine scent. It still lingered after I washed it off, so it has good staying power. Scarecrow is not for me.

  18. This smells so nice in the imp - like a smooth body butter. It smells kind of caramel-y

I am quite new to bpal and I am learning that Amber doesn't really agree with me. O turns dry and powdery on me, and very sweet. Nice in the imp and I can imagine it would smell nice on someone else ... but sadly, not on me.

ETA: I have kept my imps for a few months and wow, this is so much nicer after a bit of time. It's no longer dry and powdery its warm and comforting - I will have to get some more just to age it for a while.

  19. In the imp and when I first put this on it smells really good - I love the musks  It's very sweet and almost foody it kind of reminds me of coconut ice and for some reason I get coconut in this scent :umm:

When this drys down the amber starts to come out and amber doesn't really agree with me. If it didn't have the amber then I would like it more. I will be keeping the imp, but wont be getting a big bottle.

  20. I have been searching for a ginger scent that works on me - since all of the others I have tried haven't worked out. Sudha Segara, is more of a light citrus on me though with not much ginger coming through.

When I first put it on, it's a milky and lemony (kind of like a milky citronella) after a while it fades down into something really nice  A soft creamy scent with some citrus in the background. I really like the labs milk note, it normally works well on me and my skin seems to make it the dominant note. Sudha Segara, fades very quickly on me but it is definately soft and comforting scent.

  21. A frimp with my Yule order, thanks lab :wub2: Veil is a scent that does not work on me, even though I like florals. In the imp it smells like very strong lavender. On the skin still lavender, but with something really sharp in the background which I can't put my finger on. On me this is quite a strong and overpowering scent, and I usually prefer soft and subtle. The descripstion of it sounded perfect for me, but it wasn't what I was expecting it to be. There is a note in this that doesn't agree with me at all. After it dries down it smells better the sharpness fades, but overall I probably wouldn't wear this because it is too strong for my taste. I don't know what orris sounds like but I wonder if it smells sour on me?

  22. Vixen is really not a good match for my skin. I already knew that ginger generally doesn't work on me, it turns bitter and sharp. So all I get from this is a strong soapy scent from the orange blossom and then a sharp hit of ginger. The Pathchouli must be in there somewhere but I wouldn't have guessed it was an ingredient if I didn't check what was in it.

  23. This a soft, musky rose on me and reminds of how Morrocan Rose by the Body Shop smells on me. I like Roses, Pearls and Diamonds better though  I am not getting anything creamy from it, the coconut stays in the background and I can hardly smell it, other than an undefined sweetness. When I first put it on it smelt great - I think it must have been rose combined with orris, but after a while the orris fades and I get a musky, rose. It's soft and pretty, I will definately be using up all the imp but I am not sure if I would buy a bottle.
