Dark Chocolate, Vanilla Absolute, Black Pepper, and Bulgarian Rose
becca_s replied to Jenjin's topic in Lupercalia
This is a gorgeous dark chocolate and rose scent on me, with a hint of pepper to give it some complexity. I'm not getting alot of vanilla, but my guess is that its melting into the chocolate note. The chocolate is not the sweet, milky kind, this is definitely a dark chocolate. I agree that this is a classy and romantic scent.- 5 replies

I don't normally go for scents with dry and dusty in the description but I had read some positive reviews of Coyote so wanted to try it. This does start out quite cologney but it dries down to be a sweet, grassy scent mixed with soft fur. It dries to be more of a skin hugging scent. It's not the dry, dusty scent I imagined. It's more furry and warm.

I received Haunted as a frimp and I think I may have found a new GC love. I get a sweet, clean amber with a hint of black musk. For some reason I expected this to be quite sharp but it is softer and sweeter than I was expecting.

This a creamy, cookie/baked scent on me with hints of something berryish which must be the cloud berry. I had to Google what fattigman is and it's a deep fried cookie. This one is a creamy gourmand. As someone who loves milky and creamy notes, I am loving the clotted multikrem (dessert with whipped cream, sugar and cloudberry) note here. The fattigman fits the description and are just like crumbs sprinkled over whipped cream. I find the cloudberry hard to describe but it's somewhere between smelling like a berry while also having a hint of citrus. I'm really loving this one ❤ Both of the scents I've tried from the New years release have been wins for me.

On my skin, Traum is all about the lavender. I've brought a few lavender blends recently and to me this is the most lavender forward of them all. After it has settled into my skin I get a hint of frankincense and cacao but they are background notes to the lavender. This strikes me as a scent I'd wear on quiet evenings when perhaps I was feeling stressed. Its quite a calming scent. On me it has alot of throw and staying power

I feel like this scent is really atmospheric. It reminds me of going to vintage bookstores and opening up old leather bound books. The leather smells very realistic and is probably the strongest note on me, followed by the aged paper and lamp oil. To me this is a pretty realistic smell of vintage books and leather chairs. The lavender and rose water are completely drowned out by the other notes here on me. For people who enjoy leather or bookish scents, this might be one to try.

On my skin I get rich toffee and bourbon vanilla layered over white rose petals. My experience is a bit different to other reviewers because I can smell the rose and I get alot of bourbon vanilla as well. The toffee is also definitely present here. The honey dust is just a light dusting. I would describe this as being a decadent, gourmand with a white rose background.

On me this starts our with a strong lavender note. It's a similar lavender to TKO. Over time, as it settles into my skin I can smell the coconut cream and pie crust. The coconut cream to me is more cream and not very much coconut. The pie crust is quite subtle and I think adds a hint of vanilla. This settles into a beautiful, creamy lavender.

I find this to be a sweeter, gourmand Dorian. The sufganiyot really brings out the vanilla and sugar notes from the original blend. It is still distinctly Dorian on me, but it is sweeter and I think it's softer as other reviewers have mentioned. I don't get the fried aspect in this blend either. It's really quite lovely. Eta - I've been wearing this regularly over the last few days and it's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. It's my favorite out of the Yules.

I get a combination of the gingerbread spices and a sweet, milky note. I can pick out the nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger and freshly baked gingerbread. The milk is sweet and frothy and kind of reminds me of a chai latte with a large piece of gingerbread on the side. I can pick out both the gingerbread and the milk but I think the gingerbread and the spices might be slightly more prominent on me here.

Wow, this is gorgeous. It does start out as a sweet, purple floral scent and it dries down to the most dreamy vanilla, mallow and Orris scent with just a hint of lavender and osmathus. This one I may need a back up bottle of.

This is a sweet, creamy amber scent on me. At first I get a hint of plastic but once it settles into my skin it becomes more of a warm, milky scent that is sweet but not in a super sweet, candy way. I agree with other reviewers that the amber here leans towards the impression of smelling quite clean. As in a clean skin scent, not laundry, but almost as though you've just stepped out of the bath. This scent does having a golden, glowing quality to it, kind of a your skin but better scent. It's one of those scents that I'd just want to keep on wearing.

In the bottle this smells strongly of Jasmine, and when applied to my skin I also find this to be more jasmine forward, with the rose as background note. The jasmine isn't high pitched and is toned down by the cream and vanilla. After about an hour or so into I can smell more of the vanilla and amber peaking out behind the jasmine. I find it prettiest after some wear time, when the jasmine has settled. This is a really vintage scent, it reminds me alot of the vintage perfumes my great Aunt used to wear when I was a kid.

On me this is a soft floral with a base of gingerbread. The gingerbread spices themselves are not very strong on me. It's only when I put my nose to my wrist that I can tell that this is gingerbread. From further away it smells more like non distinct cookies. The floral notes are very pretty, I can pick out the calla lily, iris and omanthus and at times the ivy. The gingerbread adds sweetness but on me it's not overly gingery. The florals dominate the gingerbread for me.

2023 version On me this is a heady, sweet floral with subtle hints of incense and dried leaves. I'm guessing that the floral note standing out the most is the cactus blossom which is quite lush and sweet. I'm also getting another note which I think is Lily from the funeral bouquets. I can smell the sweetness from the candy. The incense and dried leaves are very subtle notes on my skin. I can't smell any chocolate but this is a sweet scent so it must be hiding behind the candy notes.

I can see why To a wreath of snow, is so popular. This is like a comforting lavender scent cloud. I noticed that vanilla isn't in the notes but perhaps the ambergris is reading like a salty vanilla to my nose. There is also the subtle note of the tobacco flower which adds to the soft, ethereal quality of the scent. This is really lovely and could work as a sleep scent as well.

On me I would describe this as a creamy, honeyed Amber scent. The amber is the strongest note on me, followed by the honey and a hint of butter. To me, this is in the same scent family as O, but I find that O has more honey and vanilla and Slug has a stronger Amber note. I really enjoy this one, it's a warm, cozy scent.

This is a very smoky amber scent on me, with some spice from the nutmeg. I brought this for the black rose, but I only get the tiniest hint of it behind the other notes. The smoked amber note is very prominent on me, almost a single note with a little spicy nutmeg. The result is a deep, sultry scent. It kind of reminds me of a darker, and smokier Shalimar. This one has alot of throw on me and lasts a long time.

This starts out very sweet and gourmand with the condensed milk and coconut. I thought it would stay this way but as it settles I can smell the linen and resin notes, the gourmand notes tend to fade a bit. It turns into a sweet, milky linen scent mixed with the embalming resins. I can see the comparison made to White Rabbit - this is kind of like a sweeter, coconut version with resins. I have been wearing this one quite alot it is quite soft and sweetly clean smelling.

On me I can pick out the linen and dusty notes from Antique Lace with cool vanilla and hints of caramel and leather. I mostly get Antique Lace here but the caramel adds a sweetness and warmth which blends in really well. The leather adds some depth and complexity. The caramel and leather make nice additions that compliment the original

I can see why Ghost milk is so popular. I get rich honey dust, cashmere and white chocolate. It's one of those scents where you have to keep sniffing your wrist, because it just smells so good. I initially wasn't sure about the goats milk because sometimes it goes sour on me, but I'm happy I took the chance on this one. No sour milk here. Just lovely honeyed cashmere and marshmallowy white chocolate.

On me, I get a sweet black currant scent that blends with the frankincense. After it has dried down I get a few whiffs of a light jasmine note. It is very light and hides behind the black currant and frankincense. There is definitely something lunar and contemplative about this scent. It's like walking through a night garden. This is a scent I can imagine wearing in the evening. I like it, but after testing it twice it is very light on my skin and has a shorter wear time. I think that this could change with some aging though.

When my weenie order arrived this is the first scent I tried and this one is most definitely a win for me. On me this is creamy, white chocolate and glowing amber. The amber does give this a feel of warmth or being lit from within. I can also smell the green tea, it blends really well into the white chocolate and smells more like a creamy, green tea & white choc latte rather than a more astringent green tea note. I'm relieved I don't get anything plasticky here. I can see myself wearing this one alot.
-
I get a lovely vanilla mint with hints of spun sugar and the white rose. I can smell the red currant when first applied but it seems to fade quite quickly and I don't seem to be able to pick out the frankincense. It's a pretty scent with a twist. I'm loving vanilla mint scents at the moment and finding them quite calming so I think I will wear this one often.

This smells like Yule in a bottle! It starts out with the two berry notes and cotton candy but then dries down into a lovely vanilla mint with a hint of the strawberry cotton candy. Its very festive and smells so much like candy canes. Happy I was able to get a bottle before the yules came down.
