  1. This is definitely a strong one. Good though. And has everyone in the house's show of approval. It starts off very leathery to me. There's a whiff of tobacco in the background. As far as my recovering from a cold nose can tell, there's no booze smell. It completely killed out any other scents in the bathroom. Will be getting more use.

  2. An exercise is unabashed sensuality: cacao absolute and a hint of oude.

Mmmmm. This smells the same as the bath oil to my nose. Reminds me of the boxed brownie batter out of the bottle. I rubbed it into my skin on my hand and want to lick my hand so badly. It smells like just baked brownies when it went on my skin. Yes, there's a bit of a difference between batter and baked to me. Already think I need MORE! It's making me want to make brownies.

  3. I seem to get spotty with both wine and dragon's blood, both go super sweet on me, so I try not to expect much overly pretty from anything that has them. Most roses do well on me, but occasionally I get soapy rose. This was actually fun to wear.

I couldn't smell much from the imp when I sniffed it because I didn't first apply it where I normally do (work instead of at home). But, when I put it on, my first thought was candied sugared roses. I kept walking around with that thought in my head as it dried a bit. Then, I got a little soapy on the rose for a few minutes with a background of cherries. Finally it faded to a soft rose, soapless again, scent. Very nice to keep in the imp, but not sure of bottle. I'll have to see how much and often I use it.

  4. This is making me think of nothing but oatmeal raisin cookies. Though I couldn't smell the raisin part in the bottle, it added itself in when it went on my skin. I kind of curious to see how it would blend with chaotic. Too bad I didn't play halflings much when I did gaming. *pouts over not getting to be rogue when I did*

  5. Sticky-sweet iced lemon sugar!

This is a very simple on me scent. But, it's so much fun to have on. Already find myself wearing it all over. But, it lasts so long on me too. Put it on right after a shower and it lasted for close to twelve hours on me! The whole time, it was on me, like posted higher up, the girl scout lemonade cookies. Very nice simple scent for the days where I don't want to worry about having to reapply something or have a morphing scent. And it's all lemony goodness!
Eta: it's been over a year since I started wearing this. The sugar in it has gone down, making it more of a lemon scent. The cookie feel is pretty much gone and I've been left with lemon juice that is needing to be added to a mix. It still also has a long wear and lasts through a couple times in the wash water.

  6. This is a review for a decant of the 2011 version. Wasn't certain, but hoped it would smell nice. And it does.

In my decant, all I can smell is cookies! I mean, not baking cookies cookies, but they are now getting stored and just opened the tins cookies. Butter cookies to be exact. I'm worried that I'll smell like that myself. I want the other scents too!

When I put it on, it first still is screaming cookies. But, very quickly, the pine scent beats it down along with the snow scent. I think that's the snow scent since it just smells fresh and cold and not the pine. The cookie scent isn't going away per say, just getting knocked down to a more manageable smell. It's also letting everything else come out. Woo hoo, I found some orchid too! I love orchid. It goes nicely with the pine. I think I can find the dirt, since it has this fresh pulled feel too. Though I smell them, they all blend together very nicely.

Let my one friend smell it and she goes, "I can't place the rest, but I do smell cookies".

  7. OK, I've been waiting the past few weeks for this scent. At first wasn't overly sure, but thought it would sound good, so I got a decant. As I kept reading it, it kept saying more and more to me of yes, perfect scent. And I am so glad I picked it up. Bottle is getting ordered with my paycheck.

When I get a sniff in the decant, I get a smell of clove that seems lightened by tobacco and must be the tonka because of the sweetness. This is pretty good and doesn't make me cringe or worry when I smell the clove like I normally do. It actually brings back memories of sitting at a friend's house and her boyfriend and other friends of hers smoking vanilla and clove cigarettes.

When I put it on, mainly I get the clove blending in with wood and the black currant. Within minutes, the clove is fading away and I'm getting peach and grassy. There's a faint bit of the black currant still, but more and more peach. There's a faint smoky in the very background I'm assuming is my body trying to bring out the tobacco.

In the end, it faded after five or six hours. Well, I'm not certain of it fading then, since I washed my arms and then there was nothing left. But, as it wore on, there were moments where peach and clove blended in together. Otherwise, it faded to woods and the hemp. As it did that, it lowered in intensity to the point where I had to sniff my wrist to get any scent. Of course, it never did get very strong to me to begin with. It was a nice quiet peach scent. It took me most of the time wearing it to realise that what it reminded me of was stewed spiced peaches. Very good thing to smell.

  8. I read the previous lick it reviews and was curious about how this one would come out. Got a bottle while blatantly ignoring the vanilla. (Well, I did that on reading all the yule descriptions, but hey) I have been wearing it for a few hours most days now. I'll explain why it hasn't gotten a full day wear. I've even made a dent in the bottle!

In the bottle, I swear it smells completely like peppermint puffs. The first day I tried it, all I could think of was peppermint candies to suck on, but not candy canes. It felt like they would turn to powder if you crush them, which I don't picture with candy canes. It was my friend hiding a bag and then thinking I found them and was already eating them that figured that out.

When it first gets on my skin, all I get is mint. The oil even makes my skin tingle. Cool. I'd say just peppermint, but I swear I'm getting a hint of spearmint and some other mints. It's like I took the actual herbs and ran them over my skin. But, for the most part it's peppermint. As it dries, there's the sugar blending in. The vanilla seems to try, but easily gets beaten back by the other two. This lasts for about four hours. Then, the vanilla comes out. The other scents seem to fade away at that time, and within an hour, my head starts hurting. So, I alcohol swab and soap scrub it off. Vanilla and I just can't seem to get along. :(

Overall, it's a cool scent. My mom smelled it on me when we were going out and, without me telling her or even offering to let her smell it, mentioned that that was what she thinks of as a "Christmasy" scent. I told her and she said that explains everything.

  9. I got this as a frimp in a package a couple weeks back. I really do wish it lasted longer. Though it does work great at work chasing away the smells in the office there. Maybe I can put a donation box together to get the guys to chip in for a bottle to use there. :ack: Hey, they agreed that it was the best they've smelled the place.

When I smell the imp, it's a completely sharp, in your face, mint smell. Somewhere in the back, I get a whiff of lavender. It's very faint and almost overwhelmed by the mint. Sniffing it helps the caffeine keep me awake at the we hours of work. But, I can only have that from the imp itself.

I put in on my skin and the mint tames itself. I get more of the lavender out moments after it hits my skin. It's very pretty and not very strong on my skin. Very cooling. Though for the first minute, I do get a bit of sting. As it dries, it gets softer and softer, the mint going away more and leaving behind lavender, until that is all I smell. That fades also after it dries.

This lasted only two hours until there was no scent on me at all. Nobody else noticed it after that also, so I know it went away. I had to reapply more than once to get through the day. I loved it while it lasted, but can't see reapplying that often. But, I did cheat and put a couple drops on a sheet of paper and laid it by the filter to the air conditioner at work. It smelled so wonderful and we got both the mint and lavender scent from it. It lasted a long time that way. I see it getting used from time to time there. Like I said, I'd consider a bottle for work, but only if I can get the guys to chip in. Otherwise, I'll just stick to this imp.

  10. I love this scent already. So glad I got a bottle.

On the first sniff of the bottle, all I get is rose. It reminds me so much of when I was younger and the tea roses growing in the backyard that would come though in the evening. That's the same scent I get when I first put it on. I'm wondering when I'll smell leather, if at all. But, it's a pleasant dark, richer smell. For a moment, as it's drying down, I get a quick hit of lemon in the roses, like someone was putting it in a glass, which goes away and doesn't return. But, for the most part, the leather seems to blend in with the smell of the rose. This is all able to be smelled very strongly without it being next to my nose.

When it's completely dried down, I'm still faintly getting the rose and leather mixing together quite nicely. And it's not getting soapy, which I was worried about also. Last time, I tried a rose scent, there ended up being the soap scent in the background.

I keep sniffing my wrist at odd moments to get more of the scent.

  11. This year's Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Halloween scent for Dark Delicacies! Dark and fuzzy, yet also dapper and debonair! If Fred Astaire was a werebat, he'd totally smell like this: dark chocolate, black oudh, tonka absolute, cassia, white oleander, sandalwood, and free-tailed bat musk. Artwork by Manda Lander!

OK bear with me. This is the first time I've done a review and so here goes. I'm also adding how it went on my daughter because I so want her skin chemistry for this scent.

Smelling it from the bottle, I got lots of chocolate first, then it smelled like sticking my nose in the trick or treat bag after the end of trick or treating itself. My daughter swore she smelled chocolate and black licorice. She didn't like that, but I loved the smell.

I put it on both of us, and we both first got the smell of chocolate and black licorice. Maybe someone else can tell me what of those would bring out that scent, but it did go away quickly. From here, I went to chocolate and a bit of floral, while she started smelling all dark chocolate. As it dried down, I went to baby powder and lost all chocolate scent. She started going chocolate and woody.

She went to bed that night and finally said she was getting a faint powder but, it was a pretty flower scent to it with the chocolate. The floral faintly came back to me after that, but I also started getting more of a vanilla scent. I reapplied it a little before I went to work and got lots of compliments. But, I think this is going to my daughter. She likes it and it does smell good on her.

Update 2014- Since doing this post, I've learned a lot more about how things smell on me. I also learned to make sure to wait a little while before testing a new bottle. I am now getting separation from the chocolate, so I have to remember to turn my bottle upside down before I put some on or I won't get any chocolate from it.

This still smells pretty close to what it did when I first got it in the bottle. After that, we have some changes. Once it goes on me, I get a dark chocolate and oudh scent. I am still getting a faint anise scent along with it. But, as it dries, that fades away. Then, it's all chocolate, sandalwood (doing it's baby powder thing on me, boo), oudh and the floral. In the end, it goes to a vanillaish scent that just has to be the tonka. Yes, this scent still lasts a long time on me, moreso now than it did when I first got it. It has grown on me over the years and does get worn from time to time.
