When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I'm running low on my bottle! Could anyone tell me if there is a similar scent to The Witch's Repast that's GC? I've been trying to use it as few times as possible, but I would like to find something to replace it that I can still order more bottles of. It's all dark hops, night-like warmth, and grains on me.

    BPTP & BPAL Layering Combos!

Got compliments from this one. Implacable Beautiful Tyrant + Devil's Claw. It was a creamy, spicy, warm mix that people actually stopped to compliment about. Here are my favorite Juniper Mint combos: Juniper Mint + Manhattan Juniper Mint + Ded Moroz Juniper Mint + Arachnina Juniper Mint + Shanghai Bath Oil + Shanghai perfume Juniper Mint + Jabberwocky Juniper Mint + any of the Lick It's I already have
  3. OK, I'll give a completely different anise recommendation. Baku. It is all anise and lavender on me. So, unless you don't like lavender, it may work. At least on me, the anise hangs around long after the lavender fades away. I know my aged bottle has softened the anise, but it's still very noticeable to me. (My bottle is almost two years old now.) There are no scent notes on that one.

    'Pink' scents

Normally, I avoid most scents that make me think of pink. They have a very rare moment in my wardrobe. But, here are some that make me think of pink and what shade, if that could help. Eden- Light Rose pink Pink Moon- Barely there pink, almost a variant of white L'Essence de l'Engouement- Bright pink Eve- Barbie Pink Love- Cotton Candy pink Croquet- Neon pink Pele- Same as Pink Moon Fae- Light pink Diable en Boite- Hot Pink Yeah, theses are the ones I keep for that RARE case where I feel like I need something pink or I wear something with a pink on it.

    Copper v1

This review is from what I wrote down in my notebook, though I have to admit that it still smells the same on me. This perfume doesn't hit me well in the bottle. As soon as it comes on wet, it has a very metallic, smoky scent with what my brain keeps screaming is lime. I do like it a lot. As it dries, it smooths out and keeps with the wet stage, but a little smokier and less lime. It stays for about four hours on my skin, which is average length. As a side note, this smells EXACTLY (as in I did a side by side sniff and had a coworker confirm) like freshly bell vacuum annealed copper. Not copper before it's been annealed or copper vacuum annealed, but a bell vacuum anneal. All three have different scents. I'm actually curious if Beth has actually smelled it. But, yeah, this is a work scent that I could wear and nobody would be able to complain because it smells like something that belongs at work. Those were the notes taken from when I was working at a heat treating factory. And it does bring back memories of working there very strongly when I put it on now.

    Cockaigne

This imp is about a year old already, so it may have changed from what it would be fresh. But, it did come as a lab frimp. This was during my "all wine scents will turn to grape chewits on me" phase, so I avoided testing it at all costs. Possibly a bad thing. But, I do like the year aging it has done. So, this one smells like cream and honey straight out on my skin. Behind it are faint spices, that come out more as the honey disappears as it dries. I'm hoping that the wine is what's bringing out the spices, since otherwise, it goes to a light bread-y/cream scent with light spice. It's pretty nice, so I'll keep the frimps that show up occasionally. Not really desiring a bottle since I'm not regularly craving this kind of scent.

    The Jersey Devil

Mine starts off on pine mostly. Plus, I get the blackberry mixing with the cranberry to give a bite to it. As it dries down, it goes to pine and cedar in this very cool, walking by the woods scent. It lasts about four hours on me, which is pretty much an average length. I like it, but just seem to feel as though I have a few others of the similar vibe that I will wear more often. So, this will stick to my many imps.

    Juniper Mint Hair Gloss

I am unsure of this scent. I prefer it for more of a spring scent, I suppose, because it is SO light. Both when I had my longish (down to the bottom of my butt) hair and now the pixie short, this scent does not last in my hair. Mainly, I get the juniper to stick in my hair. The mint seems to dissipate in the time it gets from the nozzle to either my hand or my hair itself. This can be sprayed directly on my hair, unlike some other glosses. The decant is going to last long for me. I don't know if I would buy a bottle or not.

    Shoggoth

In the bottle, I'm getting woods and a tanning leather. Maybe not a good idea. Here goes nothing. Putting it on, I get tea with foresty and a dash of citrus. As it stays on, it goes all furniture polish. From a distance, I get more of an orange type scent. Really, I'm wondering if my nose is off or my skin is morphing this weirdly. This definitely needs to be reviewed again. I do think my nose is off on this one. ETA- This is definitely the play on my skin. It is how the florals mix with the lime for the furniture polish. The woodsy is just the coconut husk with the lime. Yeah, I wish I got what everyone else did.

    Manhattan

This is my first love and a favorite scent. I can not believe I have not posted a review this beauty yet. I am now rectifying that gross infraction. Sniffing this from the bottle I bought off the forum two years ago, i get a wonderful blend of grapefruit, musk, teakwood, and a faint rind of lemon. This alone provides memories of sitting out with citrus fruits. So, I am more than happy to put it on my skin. Once on my skin, this puts a tea with citrus now. In the background is some pretty orchid. As it dries, it brings out the leather and the teakwood from the bottle. The orchid hangs out quite lightly. I love how it slowly slides between stages. It ends up taking me to a memory from high school of walking in the fall in my leather jacket and skirt while wearing some perfume. This is the perfume I was looking for growing up. Yes, I truly love this scent and would cry if it were ever discontinued.

    J-Horror

I don't know how often I would wear this. Seriously, I can only see wearing this in an office job, which I have not done in over ten years. Smelling this in the bottle, I smell flowers, licorice, and then orange mint. This really is worrying me, since I don't really like licorice. So, putting it on, it first shines of eucalyptus and mint. This is much nicer. But, the mint mellows to licorice. But, from a distance comes more of the orange. By the time it fades, less than a couple hours, all I smell is lily. I still am not impressed by the scent, especially the licorice phase. Plus, if it is not rolled enough, the scent is much more bland.

    Thirteen (13): April 2012

First, I have to admit that this is from my notes from a year ago. So, I will add to this next time I wear it. So, on with the history review. When it is in the bottle, I smell chocolate with flowers in full bloom. Actually it reminds me a lot of Pink Moon 2012. Since I like the scent, this is a very good thing. As soon as it hits my skin, the morphing begins. I'm still getting the flowers from the bottle. There's a minty background with a hint of woodsy feel. But, the flowers slowly fade til only rose and heather remain. When that happens, a faint hint of the chocolate, mint, and honey finally show. It is a nice scent that lasts quite a long time. This perfume is one that does not become too heavy, yet are not too faint that I don't notice it. It is mostly a spring scent to me. It seems like something pastel in scent. I can see this being worn when I want to smell of flowers.

    Queen of Sheba

For me, this scent is purely almond and spices from first application to finish. I want to say this is like Silk Road and Athens mixed together. I know that the honey stays in the background but lends a sweetness to the creamy spice.

    Tanuki No Amiuchi

This is from my decant from last year. I never did a review of it fresh, but I remember being impressed with it. But, my nose is a little less impressed now. When wet, it is all wood with a background of VERY faint incense. I also get some of the gardenia. As it dries, there is a hint of cumin and, if I fight hard, a whisper of vetiver. Otherwise, it is the same as when wet. In a way, it feels like I'm eating gardenia flowers. It lasts a while, but it is more of a office scent for me. Or an evening scent for a dinner date. I'm going to finish the decant someday and have no regrets.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

So, the new guy for me bought me a roller bottle of a knock off of Estee Lauder Pleasures. It's ok, but I'd rather find a BPAL to wear of it. And one without Jasmine, since we don't like each other. It seems like there's also amber, patchouli, and some other white flowers after cat pee smell goes away. Any help?

    Uncle Brian

Mmmy. Yes, that's how I feel about it. This definitely is going to be one of the summer scents. I bought it more in hopes of it being a scent my boyfriend would like and the image that I got a kick out of telling his nephew I was wearing "Uncle Brian". But, yeah, this is definitely a keeper. Needs more bottles maybe even. In the bottle it reminded me solely of opening the containers from all of you who add candy to it. The rush of sugary candy and bottled goodness. First on I got a big hit of lime. It was a fizzier lime, almost 7-upish. Then it faded into a rainbow sherbet and 7-up drink mix. I love to make that. You know, where you mix 7-up, orange juice, and the add a plop of rainbow sherbet in a big punch bowl. Now I want one. A couple hours later, it's faded to the melted puddle of the sherbet. No more orange or lime. There's a sugary spot that it took me to reading to realize must be the cotton candy. So, it's yummy and gooey, without the sticky mess. This needs to be worn for the boyfriend. He really likes candy and citrus scents on women, so I'll see how he likes this one. But, I'm really liking this one. Though I do think this will just be a summer scent for me.
  17. Ok, so this is the compilation of stuff answered from Swaps from winter 2012 and the start of the Quick and Dirty Lupercalia swap. Hope this helps. And, yes, I'm making this late. I'll add to this with more swaps as I do them. Describe three things decorating your bed room/living space 1. Horner tin boxes: They are mostly floral (one has scenes from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls) and hold my bpal. Each one is a different color, but all a basic same shape (rounded edge octagonal). 2. Popsicle stick painted orange square container that my littlest one made for me. I have my hair oils in that. But, I think it's so cute. 3. Print of The Morrigan by Jessica Galbraith. How do you feel about nail polish? I have a few colors. I like it, even though I cannot find, for the life of me, one that lasts without chipping for more than a day. Closest are the Claw polishes in Malediction and Embalming Fluid. And that starts after sixteen hours. I think I'm too rough on my nails somehow. Do you have any crafty hobbies where you might be able to use little related goodies? (beads, yarn, etc.) I don't bead. Tried to, but it was a complete failure. I do crochet. Currently, my needles have been stolen by my girls since they want to do it from time to time. I really like the rosewood ones since they seem to snag yarn less after I sand them down, but they are something I consider too expensive normally. I also do cross-stitch and would be more than surprised with anything from there. Or any other embroidery, also. Candles! Yea? Nay? Tarts? Candles are nice to have, but I can't burn them I have officially discovered. The cat finds them way too fascinating. I don't have a tart burner, though I have used them in the past as drawer scents. Who's up for baking? Baked goods are more than welcome if they can get here safe. Books! Physical or ebook, and anything in particular that you're looking for? I DO have a nook. I'll read a lot of different things. But, not so much romance novels since there are so many of them here right now. Any small things you could use? Pens and pencils are welcome (not just for usefulness, but because designs on them are so cool). Hair bands with no metal or elastics would always get used. I break them after a few uses. Or some chopsticks, so I can again annoy people I know by eating EVERYTHING I can with them. I promise to not use them again as hair sticks. Though buying me hair sticks or bobby pins would make me sooooo special. Or even a pretty hair comb. Do any of you also have a fondness for vintage bits and bobs? Yeah, I like them. It's fun to have something "old" in with more modern stuff that makes me do a double take. I just discovered a new (to me) candle company, Witch City Wicks. Does anything you see there tempt you? Tobacco & Honey, Midnight Forest, Absinthe and Bondage look cool, and so does the kettlecorn. I have them favorited on my etsy wishlist. But I have more I like from them. I really am curious about the black tea lights. What about desires (limited edition or not) from Black Phoenix Trading Post? Would like to try the Patchouli and Amber hair gloss, all bath and massage oils would go to good use. Absinthe candle!!!! Hair gloss that isn't too strong. Mid-Orgies especially lovely. Do you have an eReader? I have a Nook. Books still are preferred as paperbacks. (I raid library sales too much.) How do you feel about other perfume etailers? I have a custom coffeehouse blend from Moxie Nouveau and an order of nips waiting to come in. Also have a small order waiting from Conjure Oils. Possets didn't work for me, though some of the other e-tailers have done fine. But, I'm not really a fan of alcohol based perfumes. Mostly, I am a BPAL girl though. Other than fragrance oils/perfumes what is your number one (or a tie between 2-3) favorite type of toiletry or scenty item? Love hair oils. I've been growing my hair out for a few years, so it's getting long and this keeps it not scratchy to me. Actually, easier would be to say I have no tub, so please no bubble bath. Also, no body lotion since I use only the prescription stuff (that BURNS in winter) I have for it. (Update to: And no bath salts, for the same reasons.) Pirates or ninjas? Both are cool for different reasons. Zombies – love, hate, obsessed, don't care, think they're coming for us any day now, other immediate/passionate thoughts? They are cool to do the makeup for. Otherwise, I'm like happy scared of them. (My first favorite movie ever was Night of the Living Dead, if that makes sense to the happy scared) Favorite Disney villain? Maleficent and Cruella de Ville. Not so much a favorite but still loved is the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella. Is there any BPAL oil that you are dying to get your hands on? It doesn't have to be a rare, just something you really want to try? Most of it is listed in my wishlist under either decants, imps, or sniffies. But, I keep forgetting to add Jack to it. Do you want to see things in your box for your significant other/spouse/kids/fish/whatever? Or do you want to keep it allll about you? No spouse, so no worries there. My son is completely disinterested in it. My girls will just ooh and ahh over anything that comes in. They are helping me get the stuff for my swappee and they've had some good thoughts too already. But, I already told them not to expect anything and they are very cool with that. The cat is a catnip-freak, sadistic mouser. Seriously. The poor dog stays outside and is so picky. He likes cheese and catnip! We've had a lot of questions about coffee and tea - how do you feel about other things? Cocoa, spicing for ciders, flavoring to add to water is what I mean? I was going to ask that very question too. Thanks for getting it in ahead of me. Really, ooooh, the water flavoring packets?!? Those are wonderful. Unless they are the iced tea ones. I just can't get them to mix in the bottle completely. I do drink Hot Chocolate, but with the girls, I know if that showed up, they would be drinking them as soon as they could. And I'm not big on cider spice, since I think a good cider is spiced enough. Too many apple farms around here that make cider every year has made me bad about that stuff. Do you have a general swap-related help post somewhere? No. I should make one though. (Update to: You are looking at it.) Do you have Etsy/Amazon wishlists linked somewhere? My amazon one, if it's still up, is so outdated it isn't funny. And my etsy one is kind of, hopefully, segregated correctly. Do you have a Tumblr/Pinterest you'd share with everyone (these can be really informative as to style?) I'm afraid to join Pinterest simply because then I know I would NEVER leave the computer. Favorite candles, companies and/or candle scents? I'm starting to really like the ones in jars. For the longest time, I was addicted to tapers. Tea lights too. There's a Yankee Candle outlet store near here, but I don't have a favorite scent. But, I am more than willing to be surprised. Favorite kinds of tea (flavors, companies) Lady Grey tea, or a green tea, or white tea. Love Teavana's Snow Geisha and Lavender Dreams. Want to try some more companies from online or different areas. Would really like to try Adagio, since I got a $5 gift certificate there. Any of the Villainess autumn or winter soaps appeal? Another soap company you'd like more? Also am curious about Frostbite. Downside is that most soaps dry my skin out, which doesn't help things. I do like Sweet Olive Works' soaps. Any of the bpal Halloween scents you wished you'd gotten? Any Yule scents you're hoping to see come back? Kind of waffling on getting Suck It or Fizzy Jack o'Lantern. Really want to see if we get another Rose Red and planning on getting the bottle of this year's Lick it. Even if it makes me smell like a Middle Eastern dinner when I'm at work making the chicken. Do you like knitted items? If so, any fiber sensitivities/allergies? What kinds of items would you like? Love knitted items. I can crochet a bit, but suck at knitting. No sensitivities that I've known of. Scarves and hats are cool. I honestly miss my grandma making knitted slippers for everyone for Christmas. I'm not really a glove or mitten person, even though my skin gets grumpy if I don't wear them. My hands just get too hot and I can't really do as much with them on. Even with the fingerless ones. Words, Numbers or Spatial manipulation? I love playing with words. Spatial is fun too. But numbers I suck at. But, I can do math well. Explain that one. I'm in Japan, anything that would interest you from there? Mochi balls? I'd have to bother a friend of mine who just got back from there, but I think that's what they were. And Kit Kat's from there. Mmmmmm. Your package must contain "-A 'Sugar Plum' (ie a sweet treat)." With that in mind, what are some of your favorite sweet treats? Is there anything you really don't like? Chocolate, lemon stuff, sour sweets, candy canes in peppermint, pocky (I consider that a treat in itself), cookies, brownies. I must admit I have a sweet tooth. Ooooh, horehound! Just no black licorice. Or some pineapple thing I had. It was ewww. (Update of: Please also no banana.) Anything from Paintbox Soaps? Their stuff looks interesting. Haven't tried anything there yet. (Update of: I have a sample of poinsettia in my possession, but I still haven't tried it since I have a bar left to use up.) Does anyone have a strict way that they decorate their trees (like a color scheme)? Or, are you a just put everything random on your tree person? I have two trees actually. The main tree is the "Put everything up and make sure all ornaments can be seen", which is the one that I put the presents and such around. But, it's random and cutesy. I tried to do a color scheme, but well, kids bringing stuff from school totally ended that. Anything you do NOT want? No Santas. Everything else would be really cool. if you are my swappee, would you be pleased if I included ALL THE TIMTAMS with your swap package? I've never had timtams. Would be cool to try. (updated to: I'll eat them if you send them, but you don't have to go out of the way for some. They seem to remind me a lot of what we have locally as Malley-o's) What are some of your favorite Holiday/winter symbols? snowmen, candy canes(I don't know if that's an actual symbol, but it always makes me think of the holidays), red stockings, big bows (and I mean BIG). Do you have a favorite ornament? What's its story? Actually, I have two, for different reasons. The first one is a green glass ball. It was the first present that my littlest girl picked out for me with her brother's help. He told her I liked green and she found the biggest ball she could! Every time I see it, I remember her face when I unwrapped it and how proud she was of it. The other is a glass loon. I got it two years after my grandmother died. I just remember every time we visited seeing this stuffed loon on the ledge going down to the basement where my grandfather kept his trains. It just reminds me of going to Christmas there and how my grandmother loved every year decorating her tree. But, that glass loon looks exactly like the stuffed one he had. Bulk-Foods Section Goodies: Yea or Nay? Let's assume they're all individually packaged, and clearly labeled with what they are. That would be super cool. It could be sweets, or teas, or coffees, or nuts, or... I think you get the picture. I have NO qualms and would enjoy getting them. Would a mixed CD be something you would enjoy? If so, who are some favorite artists, what style of music do you enjoy, and/or would you prefer a valentine/romantic theme or general mix? Mixed cd's are great. You could do either version and I would bounce all over. My tastes are all over. The boy teases me over the fact that the 250gb external is almost completely filled with music. But, a sampling of groups I like are: Emilie Autumn, Vanessa Mae, Alabama, Megadeth, Eric Church, Def Leppard, Rammstein, Carole King, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Brian McKnight, Lords of Acid, Flogging Molly, Paul Simon, Vivaldi. I'm stopping now. I promise. But, other stuff is greatly appreciated as long as it isn't Justin Beiber. Sorry, but I have tried to listen to him and he just makes me think too much of early Justin Timberlake and so I shut it out as "ehhh, been there and wasn't impressed back then". Do you like incense? Yeah. if I were to find a small bottle of alcohol, would you be interested, and if yes, of what? Sure, I like the little bottles for themselves. Plus, I can use them as flavorings for morning coffee. So, Chambord has a super cool bottle or a bailey's. But, any with a fun bottle would be cool. Dear Valentine, I will hopefully be going to Portland this weekend for the Rose Garden Arena Monster Jam (I'm having to work 7 days in a row at 14 hours each in order to get the weekend off specifically to go there) -- is there anything Portland related that you desire? Coffee, if you get a chance. A souvenir pen or mug would be loved. (I think I should just add pens and mugs to collections on future questionnaires since I always enjoy getting them.)

    Eldrich Dark Bath Oil

I have no bath here, so I have to use it as a moisturizer. And now my night gloves smell like leather and musk, instead of cotton and threads. So, it's all good to me. In the bottle, I can see the comparisons to snake oil, since I faintly smell it in the background. Mostly it's musky leather for me. I can't find the rose or honey in this at all. Putting it on, I smell BLACK leather and faint powder. I know the powder smell is the black musk, but this is the first scent where I'm GLAD the powder smell is there. It slides perfectly under the leather. As it dries, the red musk adds a sexy edge to it. This is not a "family friendly" scent in my mind. This is the "friends with benefits" scent to me. I'm seconding thatbrownelf's hope that this becomes permanent. Please, please, pretty please?

    Iago

I have to admit the reason why I got it is twofold. I liked two thirds of the notes and how they go on me and everyone seems to say it's long lasting. I was a little worried though about the black musk because, no matter what, it turns to baby powder on me. Safe to say, this didn't! Too bad it didn't last through the Dawn trial. The first thing that hit me was how thick the oil was. This is coming from a new bottle from the lab too. It definitely clung to the wand and oozed down it more like a gel. In fact, it seemed to slink and caress where I put it on. Yeah, it gave off a vibe just from the texture. At first, the scent was more of the black musk wanting to come out and be powder, but that lasted only seconds. After that, it was all smoky vetiver and the well worn leather I love. It seems to be very similar to the leather note in De Sade, even. It makes me think of a concert after all the pyro is done and wearing an ex's leather trench to. And it lasted the longest time on me. This is one of the few that goes past the 4 hour mark. As it faded, it remained the same vetiver and leather but in lighter throw. I'm glad I got the bottle of this and it's going on the "check to see who's working to see if I can even wear it to work" scent. Well, at least until I stick my arms in the Dawn.

    Scent for Halloween?

Yesterday, during work, I did a mix of Rose Red, Bittersweet Chocolate Bath Oil, and The Lick It's I had. Joys of making Christmas presents at the last minute. That night, for family party, I did Mother Shub's Cthulhustollen. Today, I'm just sticking to Knecht Ruprecht. This should be interesting.

    Pumpkin II

I keep wearing this and each time, it smells different. I think a lot of it has to do with how warm I am at the application time, but at least they all seem to be nice. On wet, mostly I get pumpkin with coffee. I never smelled Pumpkin Latte, so I can't say if it's the same or not for me. Sometimes, there's a cream with it and others more like a black coffee. Like I said, depends on how warm I am at the time. (The warmer, the more likeliness of cream added.) As it dries, the spices come out. If I'm warm, the pumpkin pretty much fades out and I'm slammed with spice and cedar. The cooler I am, the more the pumpkin stays. And it's the pumpkin for me of the lingering smell from pulling out the guts, not pie. But, that's just me. Plus, I get a bit of patchouli in it, which knocks down the cedar. At the end, I get teakwood and coffee. With a hint of pumpkin pie. But, the patchouli goes away too. Unless I'm warm. Then it's all pie spice and not so identifiable woods. Like eating a piece of pie on a deck outside. It's a nice one to have on, no matter what my temperature is. This one is definately something for me to wear often.

    Mango-Infused Pumpkin Chai Latte

This was the one I wasn't too sure of. I never seem to get mango to actually show up, but was hoping the tea and pumpkin would help it out. The bottle definately screamed mango for me. It was beating everything else to a faint backgound. Then, I put it on. From start to finish, it smelled like Tetley's Chai tea on me. No creamy pumpkin, no mango, nothing else. Not that it is a bad thing really. I've been wanting to find a Chai scent lately, since that keeps me from buying chai all the time. So, it ends up a win for me. I just envy everyone who got the pumpkin and mango.

    Torn Candy Bag Bath Oil

On first sniff, I immediately thought Treatsy in Cherry. On wet, it has more of a lemon scent to me. But, that does fade out and then the cherry comes back and more of a candy feel. Occasionally I get a whiff of the plastic already mentioned, but it keeps getting knocked out by the sweetness. I don't get much of the grass or cement. I'm definately glad I got the bottle.

    Pink Moon 2012

My daughter hid this from me the day after it got out of the box because she was CERTAIN it was for her. It said pink and so she had to store it with her stuff. But, she never wore it. Addictions to pink only goes so far I guess. I only found it when we were moving stuff. So, now, I can finally do a review. In the vial and when it first goes on, I get a chocolate and strawberry scent. It's pretty close to my 13 for this April. That's okay, because I like that 13 for summer. It's light enough to keep from bothering certain people when it's on. As it dries, I notice that the chocolate seems to fade, but then it does. I think my body just can't get enough chocolate inside me that it needs to acquire the oil into me and ingest it. The strawberry stays there, but adds a lot more floral feel. It's bot quite to blossom, but close. And no plasticy side smell that I get from strawberry! Yay! Happy dance. I don't smell the vanilla really, but there's the sweetness hanging out in the faint background that seems to play with my nose. It's definately worth wearing again. Though I'm being bad and trying to figure out which flowers are on the label. It's just a pretty label on it. But, it's also so PINK. I must keep the label from being seen since then they'll know I will wear something that color.
