Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

My first thought was Iole - A serious, studious scent: fig, night-blooming jasmine, red sandalwood, bourbon vanilla, oak bark, leather accord, and black amber. and then for someone unconventional who sees things differently: Agnes Nutter - The mind of Agnes Nutter was so far adrift in Time that she was considered pretty mad even by the standards of seventeenth-century Lancashire, where mad prophetesses were a growth industry. Gunpowder, charred wood, smoke, and rusty nails. or maybe War, also from the Good Omens series and probably a bit more wearable - Red ginger, black spices, patchouli, honeysuckle, and three blood-soaked red musks.

Halp! Recommendations for an absolute Newbie

Lamia comes to mind - Deadly elegance: pale orchid, vanilla amber, black currant, white peach, champaca, coconut, Arabian myrrh, Burmese vetiver, and oude or Lawn Gnome - Red currant, molasses, vanilla cream, moss, and patchouli. Shame you didn't mention this yesterday before I posted!

Halp! Recommendations for an absolute Newbie

Dorian, without a doubt - I'll leave you to read the review for that one For fruity, lighter blends you might want to try Gnome, Vial of Holy Water, Shoggoth or Embalming Fluid ... and maybe Goblin for the darker side of coconut! But 6 will never be enough imps, you should check out the sales threads for bargains if you want to maximise your budget.

There's a vast range of leather - so, what sort of memory? My favourite leathers are:- White Rider - white leather and sandalwood Rogue - Soft, well-worn black leather, hemp, and rosin Whip - black leather & damp red rose As you also mentioned lilac, Bensiabel is plum juice, lilac, leather, and a smattering of herbs

    Nabby Gardner's Holiday Globules

Clean and fruity, but with a floral in the background. I'm useless at detecting specific florals other than the obvious ones but some sort of white tropical/southern bloom. It would be a nice summer scent for someone but is has too much of the wrong sort of floral for me and it turns to laundry scent.

    Eldrich Dark Bath Oil

In the bath I get leather and roses and sweet musky goodness. Now that it's dry I smell of black leather and sex and rawr. Not at all suitable for my planned evening of tabletop roleplay with the lads, I need a night out at a good BDSM club. I got a decant but I'm going to have to get a bottle.

    Mother Shub's Cthulhustollen

When it's wet I get lovely strong marzipan but it dries really quickly to faintly plasticky holiday candles on me

    Bly

Wet on my skin it is rain drenched flowers, drying down to the smell of wet stone with a very faint floral, like sniffing a small pool of water left by the damp flowers when they were placed on the stone. I'm not sure that makes any sense, but it's beautiful and I need a bottle.

    C8H10N4O2 Soap

Wonderful lather ... like cappuccino foam This gives me far more nut than coffee, with a hint of spice, and its a lovely comforting scent.

    Blue Snowballs

In the bottle I get a beautiful limey berry mix and if I was very stupid I might just drink it! It stays like this while wet but almost the moment it dries, all that juicyness vanishes and I get a fresh, slightly citrusy snow note. While I might well love it in a bath oil or shower gel and it's nice enough, it's not what I want as a perfume

powerful, dangerous scents for a young lady

Seconding Tombeur and Perversion, also Mme Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (if you can find any or when the Carnaval returns next year) and maybe Obsidian Widow.

    Semiramis

This is lovely - for me it is almost identical to my bottle of Misfortune Teller V3, and that is a very good thing indeed. Lovely sweet, fruity incense = the other thing it reminds me of is All Souls but this is definitely fruitier than that. Win.

I find the Trading Post's atmo spray The Queens Croquet Ground sprayed on my pillow does the trick

    Requesting Recommendations for Newbie

Hi there, Now, I haven't ever smelled the Gonesh stuff - but I noticed it mentioned in a review that I was reading yesterday, so my first recommendation is: Anubis - a blend of holy myrrh, storax, balsam, and embalming herbs. Many people find that something they thought that they hated in a normal perfume ends up working really well on them here, so try to skin test everything and leave it to mellow before dismissing it. Other than that, these are some of my favourites I'd say maybe try: Vixen - The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli Wanton - Palmarosa, red sandalwood, attar of rose, patchouli Tombeur - vanilla-infused sandalwood, blood musk, antique patchouli, vetiver, lavender, bitter almond, amber, and a trickle of Snake Oil. Harlot - [somalian rose, Moroccan rose and Bulgar rose with a sultry dribble of cinnamon. (I can't wear it but I love it ) Two, Five and Seven - A huge bouquet of squished rose petals: Bulgarian rose, Somalian rose, Turkish rose, Damascus rose, red and white rose, tea rose, wine rose, shrub roses, rose, rose, rose… …and just an itty bitty bit of green grass. There's also a thread where people give their suggestions for a couple of imp packs for newbies here.

    Bard

My Bard is the one slumped in a corner after too much bay rum and an excess of Hey Nonny Nonny ... my skin should love this but instead I get stale sour sweat I'm going to hang onto it for a few weeks and see if it starts behaving itself.

    Spicy but not Foody

Mama-Ji if you can find a decant, or Old Demons of the First Class if you get on with the other notes. I'd also suggest maybe Bengal, but I haven't skin tested that one as I can't wear cinnamon - wasn't foody in the imp though.

    Cardamom

Bastet and Crib Girls are both lovely and very sweet. Also Mango-Infused Pumpkin Chai Latte from the current Weenies might be worth considering, but I haven't tried that one.

what is ruining these scents for me?

Maybe search a few sales threads for cheap imps so you're not paying full price for things you might hate? - also many people sell half-full imps even cheaper.

    Lemurian Ghost

This reminds me of Cloister Graveyard in the Snow - not surprising as they share the white musk and the mint. It's a very gentle, light, green scent. There's a vague floral in the background and it's all very nice but it vanishes so quickly on me. If it stuck around a bit longer I'd happily get a bottle - and I'd love to see this as a shower gel from the Trading Post.

Halloween In The Miskatonic University Library

My first thought when wet was hazelnut praline, but I can see where salty would come in, maybe a salted praline. After a few minutes I'm getting what I think is the pumpkin latte, but only slightly spiced, much more gentle than most of the pumpkin things I've tried. It's mellowing out to include wood and making me think of a wooden counter that had spiced pastries on it an hour or so earlier. There's a really tiny hint of cologne. ETA: After an hour or so it does turn to mostly cologne - but an interesting, woody, sexy cologne. I need a man who wears this in my life.

    Fresh Summery Flowery

Some unimpables I'd suggest are Pandy (Fresh white musk, honeycomb, sweet apricot, elemi, orange blossom, and mischievous pink pepper) and Alcie (bright nectarine, honey, sandalwood, green musk, sea buckthorn berry, and oakmoss),from the Pandora section, and also Lady Una (Honey musk, green tea leaf, blackberry leaf, vanilla bean, and fae spices) or The East (bluebonnet, passion flower, freesia, jasmine tea, mint, thyme, and redcurrant) from the Neil Gaiman/Stardust section. The vanilla & spices in Lady Una are very muted I find.

    The Forbidding Foyer

I got the strong almondy Dr Pepper smell while it was wet and then I kind of forgot about it for a little while. Then I put my nose to my wrist and actually jerked back away from myself as it smelled so strongly of the rotten wood and hidden nastiness. This hits the description spot on - but I don't want to scare myself when I sniff it!

    The Heinous Hedge-Maze

When I first apply it I get a blast of wet green loveliness, dark green leaves, much fresher than box normally is. Once it's dry I also get a hint of roses too, white roses rather than red. I can close my eyes and imagine tall hedges studded with white roses. But not a hint of rosemary anywhere. I don't find it claustrophobic at all, but I do have an affinity for hiding in greenery

    Lich's Laboratory Atmosphere Spray

Clove and black pepper and no decaying flesh at all It makes me think of the sort of spicy cologne an extremely sexy dark haired man would wear - a sort of mix of spice and sex and danger. I love it!

Oil Equivalents of the Bath and Massage Oils?

A couple of the reviews for Pandy (in the Pandora line) compare it to the Butterfly Nectar bath oil, so that might be worth looking into EDIT.. oh, I just noticed yours is one of the reviews! Let's just call this a blonde moment for me
