    Mother Ginger

Remember when Shub was the most sought after scent in the world (slight exaggeration, but still). Then it went GC. LOL This is what I imagined Shub to be like. It's lighter and sweeter and spicier than the original and I seem to amp that lemon in a big way. Lots of throw, lasts a long time and I have to decide if I need a bottle of that, too. Beth, you're killing me here.

    The Waltz of the Snowflakes

When I put this one, I thought it was disgusting. I am not a big Snow White or Snowblind fan, but this was far worse....pine and mint tar yuck. And then it settled onto my skin. The pine disappeared, as did the mint. And all that was left was the most perfect sweet fresh soft new fallen snow. Not like Snow White or Snowblind. Just. Like. Sweet. Snow. Almost like vanilla ice cream, if it were made of snow. I freaking love it.

    Valse Finale et Apotheose

I don't get much apple blossom at all. Okay, I don't get any apple blossom. And I'm not crazy about mint. But I do love honey. And this scent is one. A honey, I mean. It's honey that isn't too cloying because the mint, while minty, is a mellow mint. The honey sweetens the mint and the mint mellows the honey. It's exquisite. It lasts throughout the day, and while sillage is light-to-medium, it's like a sweet and steady candle that won't go out, giving light whenever it catches your (my) attention. Bottleworthy.

    The Torture Queen

This starts out as soapy and stops being so after it dries. It's a little cool and yes, industrial for my tastes. It smells like a martini. Very sophisticated and perfect for a cool, thin blonde. I am none of those three things.

    Love's Torments

Smoky pork. Like a burning heart? No, that's not what it is...It's Bac-O's. You know, the fake bacon pieces you find in bad salads. Well, that's what is on my wrist. Hopefully, I can remove it.

    Beaver Moon 2010

Peach or Apricot Cordial, straight up. Lots of throw. Lasts for hours and hours. No cheesecake.

    Buck Moon

Buck Moon is not a scent I should like--I am not a musk fan and words like thunder, herbs, and animalistic make me cringe separately, let alone together. But this has been one of my favorite scents for a long time. It is skin-close and reminds me of soft doe skin and a crystalline (that word I like!) night with a full moon. I usually like more feminine scents but this isn't masculine at all to me. It's not sexual at all, and yet it is primal and mysterious, too. I noticed a lot of people had trouble describing Buck Moon--it is ineffable and ineffably beautiful.

    Bedbug

I second Aldercy. Very Gingerbread Poppety these bedbugs are! The 2004 Gingerbread Poppet that I think is the most perfect version. The long term drydown of Bedbug is even more delicious, as if the gingerbread poppet had caramelized. It is, in a word, yum.

    Sibyl

This reminds me of Jingo-Kogo with the lightest hint of rose. It's creamy, sexy, and incredibly well blended--I get mostly vanilla and mandarin but I know the musk tea, rose, and some very well-behaved honey undergird the mix, as well. No hint of the cognac has entered my nostrils. At first I thought I'd have to slather this (it's very light in the bottle), but it blossoms on the skin in a way that just melts me. The rose blooms as time goes by. Fortunately, I like rose, but I liked Sibyl better in her earlier, creamy mandarin incarnation. Not sure if my wonderful Sibyl angel wants to be named, but I thank her with great sincerity and gratitude, whenever I can pull myself away from huffing my wrist, that is. Updated to add that I wore this to a wedding last weekend. It was just PERFECT.

    Dawn: Maiden

This is exactly as promised. No surprises. Honey and roses and other flowers. It is the smell of a maiden. Sweet, innocent, gentle and so so pretty. I think I would have loved it a year ago but my tastes must have changed. I like it, but I think it's too young for a crone like moi.

    Ginger Skulls

I was really hoping for a gingery, but sweet scent, but having read the reviews, I was more prepared. On, this is to me the sexiest, most adult fruity scent ever. I get a light spicy plum!!! (Told you my skin was weird.) I think the ginger keeps this from getting too sweet. And spices it up. It's not the scent I was thinking of but it's sure the scent I love. Definite bottle. ETA 2/15/19: This was a long neglected scent on me and I tried it on because I'm planning a major de-stash. This stays. The pear and quince are now an old married couple, and the gingery spice girl but a whispered memory. But this isn't fruity so much as approaching delicate flowery sophistication. My kind of femininity. And sillage for days. LOVE

    Anne Beany

I wasn't expecting to like this, because since I was a child, I didn't like rum in desserts (and haven't changed my stance)...nor do I like liquor notes as a rule. But when I was gifted with a tester, I tried it on and like--woah! Throw and longevity like you wouldn't believe. And most of it smells like sweet nummy butterscotch cheesecake that reminds me oddly of Mitzvah...but there's that sour rum note that makes me say, "Do I need this?" In the 100 hours that this scent lasts, the rum note eventually departs. I am very tempted to take the bottle plunge.

    Lilith's Tea Party

Wet, this comes on as tea with some strawberry. Almost immediately upon drydown, the tea mellows into a strawberry tea. Within the hour, we have strawberry cream tea, mostly strawberry cream but a touch of tea. Throw is strong, so every now and again you are reminded that you are in a garden having a delightful tea party. With no rose water for me, not even of any kind. This is very very sweet. Almost too sweet for me, reminding me of the original Strawberry (Shortcake) Moon, but even less tart! I have to determine whether the tea saves it for me or not, but this is a most charming scent. Perfect for les jeunes filles.

    Dia De Los Natitas

Wet: this reminded me of a beauty salon in the sixties...hair spray, hair dye, and the scent of hair dryers Dry: for a while, the ozone-y scent just overpowered everything else. Then some soapy florals came out a bit, but they were more dead than alive. Not much throw, but the scent on my skin lasted a good six hours or so. Make that a bad six hours or so. Clearly, this didn't work on my skin a little--but remember, my skin is WEIRD.

    Fire for Thy Stepmother's Daughters

Got this as a frimp. In imp: Interesting clovey scent Wet: Clovey bubblegum. WTF? Ick. Drydown: The bubblegum disappears relatively quickly, and a warm, sweet and spicy incense remains. I have nothing like this in my BPAL collection so will keep the imp. If it turns out I like use it more than three times, potentially a bottle. For someone like me, who rarely finds "wins," this is a surprise winner.

    Rosy Maple

I don't like lemonade--it's too tart for me. But if pink lemonade tasted like Rosy Maple smells, I would drink it by the gallon-full. This is THE perfect summer scent--not obnoxiously fruity, neither tart nor too sweet, delicate, feminine. I feel like I should be adorning a verandah, making the summer bearable for others with my gently intoxicating aroma. There is something classic about this smell, too, in the sense that Tracy Lord might wear it in the summertime. It's too sophisticatedly simple for the common folk. If that doesn't make sense, don't blame me. I'm intoxicated by Rosy Maple myself.

    Green Phoenix

We had a St. Patrick's Day dinner to go to at my mother-in-law's, and she wears shamrock stockings and such, so I tried to choose a St. Patty's scent. I chose Green Phoenix because--duh, green--and because it's such a springy scent. I haven't worn it since forever and forgot how much I love this one. It's fruity without being sweet or girlish, and it's citrusy but not remotely bitter. It is immensely calming, subtle, and beautiful. Sophisticated, but natural. It is also very light--not much throw. But that's part of its subtle sophistication.

    Unveiled

Lotus of all manner seems to poison everything on me. Unveiled was no exception. Rancid grapefruit, with nary a dollop of sweetness. Had to wash it off twice, with alcohol.

    Black Heart

Sweet pea, vanilla-infused sandalwood, bourbon vanilla, white honey, carnation, pomegranate, Vitis riparia, plum, and cognac. I must have a Black Heart, because this scent calls to me like few others have. In the imp, I smell cognac and pomegranate with a grape undertone--but this baby morphs like nobody's business. It starts as a deep and lovely fruity-floral when wet--mostly plum and sweet pea. I love this stage. The other fruits emerge and disappear for a while, staying feminine and sophisticated because of the sweet pea. Black Heart does go into a brief Crypt Queen stage, but it's like Crypt Queen's more fun sister. She doesn't wear pastels, but she doesn't wear all black either. In its last and final morph, the sandalwood and honey do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight...sorry, I digress. Never got Sweet Tarts, I am happy to say. This is a beautiful, sophisticated, feminine and unique scent and I love it. Possibly a two bottle purchase.

    Overprotective Possessed Talking Doll

I like this! On me, it's like a much sweeter Bon Vivant. A party smell. Maybe not a grownup party, but I'm going to a 15 year old's birthday party tonight and it will be perfect.

    Playing with Dangerous Toys

Chocolate and something almost tobacco-like. But not in a good way, on me. This is a dark, flat scent and it neither excites nor repels me. Swaps.
  22. tarotgirl99

    Chewing Little Bits of String

In the imp, this is mostly soggy cotton. But on? It's pure, rich, lovely honey...with a little wadded up cotton at first. Then just honeyhoneyhoney. I love this but I have a lot of honey scents...so I can probably get by on my one imp. Maybe. It's really lovely. Decent throw and wear-length.

    XCDL13

When I tried this on, I thought, "This is pretty...but so similar to Antique Lace...I don't need it." But I was impressed with its throw. And the way you could wear it anywhere... As the hours went on (and on and on), I fell more and more in love with this one. The vanilla is just so delicious, with nary a trace of plastic. And thank goodness, whatever liquor I get burns off within seconds. This is just a perfect "wear anywhere and feel damn good while you're wearing it" scent. It lasts forever, too.

    PX117

Never smelled Huesos de Santos...but if it's anything like PX117, I'm ISO. This starts out very buttery on me (sadly, I amp the butter note) and then it reminds me of my beloved CD023...only instead of lemon cake, it's orange. The anise and other spices try to emerge but the orange is the Leader of the Pack (vroom, vroom! I snorted my entire wrist and there was nothing I could do about it...). I like it lots. Fortunately, I like CD023 better. I think. This is very yummy. *** After 14 hours of continuous yumminess, I like this as much as CDO23. That's a high compliment!

    PSX54

Creamy, spicy cocoa with nice throw. Just about as yummy as you can imagine. The spice gives it a perfect kick. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this scent.
