  1. My second LE that I’ve tried and another that makes it into my top 3. Somehow I get a similar undercurrent that I get from Fae (although it doesn’t look like they have any of the same notes), although it is not as fruity and sweet as Fae. It is darker and sexier and spicy. There is a hint of sweetness and fruitiness, but mostly I get spicy clove. It is a great autumn scent. I am totally loving it. I just want to smell my wrists all day.

Now.... this is in the context of aromatherapy. As perfume? It's kind of iffy. You might ask your local aromatherapist (if you have one) and get her opinion.

It might be safest to avoid BPAL blends containing those oils during pregnancy just in case though.

  3. La Petite Mort strikes me as an edgier version of Alice. Sweet and honeylike like Alice, with a bit of a darker and sexier undertone. It’s replaced Alice as my favourite sweet scent, because it is not quite as foody and a little more intense and complex. I just wish I got the ylang ylang notes, they don't come across on me at all.

  4. Usually I like my BPAL too much to want to waste it scenting my car, but I'm all out of my rosewood EO that I used to use for car air freshener and am trying to decide what to replace it with. Snake Oil might be nice, but could I stand to use it up just to make my car smell nice? Hmmm.

Any recommendations? Which scents do you use to burn in an oil burner or scent your car? (And shouldn't we have a FAQ for this? :P)

  5. When I wear this, I get SANDALWOOD!! This is good, because sandalwood is one of my favourite essential oils. After I wear it while, I get a hint of lemon as well, but still a predominantly sandalwood scent. It fades a bit quickly, although I didn’t put it on very heavily either.

  6. This is another lovely scent. On me, it is light and feminine, with a hint of something stronger in the background. I don’t smell any of the individual notes, it just comes across as a sweet blend. The more I smell it, the more I am reminded of powder that my grandmother used to have when I was little. It smells like an old classic scent. It would be a good scent to wear out to dinner or to work. I think it's made it into my current top ten list.

  7. This scent is VERY cherry. Almost smells like cherry cough drops when it first goes on. After it sits for a while, it mellows and gets an almost smoky scent. An intense, rich scent, with still a heavy cherry overtone. I enjoy it quite a bit. It definitely smells RED. I don't think it makes my Top Ten, but that's only because my list of favourites has gotten too long. The longer I wore it, the nicer the smell got. Definitely rich and queenlike, and less cough syrupy.

  8. Ooh I love it. Sensual and sweet describes it quite well. I get a hint of coconut. It’s light and sweet and has no sourness or bitterness to it at all (rum and tobacco made me think it would have a slight acridness, but not a bit). Think I will add this to my must-haves. It’s definitely making it into my Top Ten. After wearing it a while, the tonka beans, leather, and tobacco scents come out and it is just wonderful and sensual and amazing. It’s not masculine at all, but I think it would be very sexy on a man as well.

  9. From the description, I figured I’d like this one. I love woody scents, I used to wear sandalwood all the time, and I use rosewood to scent my car. When it first goes on, it smells very woody, and then as it is drying down it smells more flowery. The name is definitely appropriate, it is definitely the smell of a tree spirit. This one is very feminine on me as well, I’d be interested to hear how it works on a man. I really am liking the flowery, woodiness of it. It’s very light and unobtrusive, a good contrast to the intense scents that I like. After wearing it for a while, I really love it, but I am having a horrible skin reaction to something in it. Maybe I'll try mixing it with lotion or using it to scent my car.

  10. Oooh! Love it love it love it!! This has outstripped Fae and become my #1 favourite BPAL oil. Too bad it’s a limited edition.

It is similar to Fae in its complexity and lightness yet intensity. I can’t really pin down any notes, although I get a faint hint of cherry. I am torn whether to wear it every day because I love it so much or to savour it. Fortunately, I have lots of imps to try, so I can make it last a bit longer.

It didn’t seem to have a lot of staying power, but it was very hot today and I didn’t put a lot on. I’d like to try again and see if it lasts better on a normal day.

Now that I've worn it on three different occasions, I'd like to add that this scent is like the moon in that it is so changeable. Every time I wear it, it smells very different on me. Today, it smells spicy, almost like cinnamon and cloves, and I don't get cherry at all. Still beautiful though. (If it weren't a LE, I think I would have to make it my signature scent, since my personality is so mercurial, it fits me perfectly.)

  11. This one smelled nice and light out of the imp.

It is light and slightly sweet, but sophisticated. It’s how Yves St. Laurent Paris ought to be (like a toned down version of Paris almost). I could see wearing this to a classy dinner or to a job interview. The description says gender neutral, but I don’t think I would like it on a man, I think it is too girly. Maybe on a man the body chemistry would give you a different scent. I like it a lot, I think I will add a bottle to a future order. It still doesn't compete with my top 2 or 3, but it is a nice one.

  12. When I first smelled this in the imp, it almost smelled like booze, like bourbon or Boone’s Farm or something. When I put it on, however, it is nothing but class. I don’t smell any champagne or alcoholic scent to it, just pure strawberry. It’s no Strawberry Shortcake strawberry, it settles to a nice dark, red, juicy strawberry scent. It’s very pretty, but I wouldn’t like it as a daily scent. I like my scents light and summery or sensual and sexy. It’s kind of intense and rich but fruity and light. I’ll enjoy the rest of the imp, but I wouldn’t buy a full bottle. It’s good to wear when going out with a male platonic friend, fun but not sexy.

  13. It's amazing that so many people are calling this one a "soft floral." I don't get soft floral at all, I think "dark floral" that other people are using is more appropriate. I bought a bottle cold because I love sandalwood and jasmine. I like it, but it comes across somewhat heavy on me. So I've decided it's a once-a-week kind of scent for me. I can't wear it every day, even though I do really like it.

The other odd thing is that people have been saying it fades very quickly on them. With me, it's the opposite. I put a little on and it lasts all day. Maybe it's because I'm fair-skinned... takes forever for things like club stamps to come out of my skin too. :P

  14. This one is definitely my current favourite scent (Alice is a close second), especially for this time of year. It's light but not too light, and the slight sweetness is great for spring and summer. I find the peach is just enough to balance out the other scents which tend to be more intense on their own. I like heavy, sensual scents but not when it's hot out.

That said I wore it to work the other day and one of my friends said, "Why do you smell like baby powder?" Oh well. I don't get baby powder from the scent at all. Maybe it was my hair conditioner scent mixing with the Fae scent.

  15. I have to say, this is one of my favourites for this time of year. I got a sample of it and now I'm thinking I need to order a whole bottle. A lot of people were calling it sweet, it is definitely sweet, but not overpoweringly so. At least on me, it's light and springy, but still interesting and complex. I think the bergamot helps balance out the honey.
