  1. WHITE CHOCOLATE WITH LEMONGRASS, CORIANDER, AND ALMOND CREAM

This smells SO GOOD! I love the white chocolate note, the lemongrass is also really nice when mixed in with this. To be honest, I am not sure what coriander smells like, but I don't detect anything (on my skin) other than the white chocolate and lemongrass - I can't pick out the almond cream Either, but as someone else mentioned, it may be just lending a bit more creaminess to the white chocolate. Either way, it's really well blended, and a super comforting scent. So glad I caved! :wub2:

(It also does NOT go plastic on me!)

ETA: apparently Coriander are the seeds from the sample plant which is Cilantro - some people think the seeds (coriander) smells similar to cilantro (the leaves) but a bit more citrusy. I personally didn't smell anything close to cilantro in this, but it may have just been so subtle that it blended in with the lemongrass. The lemongrass is a very refreshing lemon, and has that "green" quality to it, it does not Smell like Lemon pledge. (at least, not in my opinion!)

Id rate this one: 4/5 (I personally love foodie scents, and the white chocolate note is good enough to EAT!)

  2. Oh my god, this smells so realistic, I wanted to eat it!!! Also, this did not go plastic on me! The throw was also really nice, and it lasted quite a while on my skin...a few hours, anyway.

In the bottle: this smells like white chocolate with a hint of strawberry

Wet on skin: this is fantastic! This smells EXACTLY like those huge strawberries that have been dipped in white chocolate with the dark chocolate drizzles on them...so delicious

Dry: this for about 30 seconds in the wet stage, went a little dusty on me, but maybe because I slathered it on...but immediately bounced back to that realistic chocolate covered strawberry scent, and remained very true! At times, this almost smells like Strawberry Ice cream to me!

I adore this, so glad I managed to snag a bottle on EBay!

ETA: I also JUST figured out what this smells like! If you've ever used the Strawberry Feels Massage bar from Lush, it smells just like this!!! :wub2:

  3. I managed to swap for a bottle of this, and I am so happy with it!

I'll preface this review, by saying I've never tried/sniffed Holiday moon, which some have compared this to.

In the bottle: I'm smelling the greenish bamboo notes with a bit of resin behind it (SO).

Wet on skin: the greeness of the bamboo mingled with a bit of an aquatic note mostly present - this has a very "clean" and "zen-like" feel to it, I love the description I read in this thread earlier, that it was reminiscent of being in a bamboo tree house in the middle of the jungle, while it was raining - that is a great way to describe this scent!

drying on the skin - as it starts to dry, and sink in, the SO starts to peek out a bit - after a little while, I can almost pick out the teak as well as the Bamboo, and the headyiness of the snake oil.

after about 1 hour: this is straight up Snake Oil on me at this point - the bamboo, and teak have faded, and now glorious, rich vanilla snake oil is here in it's place.

I love how this scent changes over time, it starts out completely one way, which is lovely, and then over the course of an hour, has pulled a complete 180, and is a totally different scent which I also adore! :wub2:

    this is a total Keeper!

  4. I also have a question - I've emailed the lab about this, but haven't gotten a reply, so not sure what's happeneing just yet.

I placed an order on 2/28/12 for1 bottle each of: the white chocolate lemongrass one(V-Day Chocolates), The Black Tower (GC), and also Blossoms in Springtime (Shungas)

I surprisingly FAST received a CnS on 3/1/12 - My order arrived on Saturday 3/3/12, only it was just the 1 bottle of white chocolate Lemongrass, coriander, and almond cream...the other two bottles were not with it, and There was no note, or email saying if anything was on back order.

anyway, I had sent a payment of 68.00, which included the $7.50 shipping, so I would think they would have noticed that was a lot of dinero for 1 bottle...and my order was clearly laid out in the comments section of my paypal payment, which is how I always order.

    anyway...Hoping someone can help?

  5. This one was SO interersting.

In the decant, it smells like that lovely Red Musk that I know and love! not getting much of the honey at this point

wet on skin: Same beautiful red musk! Oh wait...what is this? It's a STRONG "gritty" dirty-ish scent starting to amp up, though it remains close to the skin. It's sort of really repulsive...As I lean back I keep cathing these whiffs of GORGEOUS red musk.

Drydown: The honey goes through this dirty pungent phase on my skin for about an hour, and then it FINALLY settles down into a "golden" sort of feel - The Red Musk comes back in all it's glory, surrounded by the golden vibe from the honey. The dry down is Beautiful, and the scent the sort of wafts around me while wearing it is AMAZING...it's just the 1 hour of awful dirty honey close to the skin that I'm not sure I want to deal with.

For now, I'm happy with a decant, but would consider a bottle should it come back...not going to go out of my way to find one now though!

  6. This pretty much smelled EXACTLY as I hoped it would smell. slightly buttery vanilla and cool mint! (mint, like a candy cane).

I had this total moment of "I've smelled this before" when I put it on...it drive me crazy! And then I realized, it smells exactly like one of the Christmas Sugar scrubs I made in my shop at Christmas time! Peppermint Frosting! Though mine was a blend of vanilla Buttercream and Candy canes...so Yes, the scent was almost identical! I was happy to make this connection, because now I don't have to scour Ebay trying to win the elusive bottle!

  7. This one is good, but nowhere near as good as I was hoping for - I think it's the leather that kills it for me. Leather is one of those notes that is VERY hit or miss with me - so far only the black tower and perversion work, where pretty much every other leather scent fails. The redeeming quality with this blend, is the snake oil and the pie - I can pick up on a crust note mixed in with the SO, and since SO works so beautifully on me, it's really trying to salvage this on my skin, but there is just that weirdness that blatantly sticks out from the leather. I'm glad I tried it, so I don[t have to kill myself trying to find a bottle.

  8. This is lovely...I get a pretty balanced blend of Snake Oil and chocolate, though the chocolate fades fairly quickly on my skin, leaving a lush "creamy" snake oil behind. I can't really pick up on the Teakwood or the rice milk (unless that's where the creaminess comes from...)

In any case, if this ever becomes available again, I am 100% buying a bottle...or two..or three.

    :wub2:

  9. Ok, I've tested this several times, and it is another forum favourite that seems not to work for me... It has an emptiness that I felt also in scents like Signor Dildo, like a lacking heart or something... The vanilla/floral vanilla feels a bit too insubstantial to me, while at the same time being muddled by something that I can't quite put my finger on. It might be the saffron. I think I've got a blind spot where the scent receptors for saffron should be working, so I'm not sure it is it what I don't like in here. What I seem to get in Celeste is some kind of liquorice or leather underneath the insubstantial vanilla-cotton.

This morning I put on a sweater that I had worn when testing Celeste a few days back, and it's definitely not a skin chemistry thing, because the scent on the sweater is just as disquieting to me. Disquieting is a good work. It's not actually unpleasant, but I don't feel quite right smelling it on me or my clothes.

THIS. I know this blend is a favorite, and I managed to snag a decant from another lovely forumite - For me, I think the combination of the saffron and the Orris root, kills the blend. Blends with Orris root are generally pretty good on me, and blends with Saffron are pretty good too, though mostly when the saffron behaves. This combination of the two though, kills any loveliness I would get from the vanilla. To be quite honest, I don't like Celeste much...BUT, Love's Philosophy is quite another story!

  10. I managed to snag a bottle on EBay, and I'm so glad I did!! I've been on a vanilla/cream kick lately, and this is so COMFORTING! It's like being wrapped in a big warm fuzzy blanket. This is also awesome for layering!

In the bottle: cream and saffron with an added sweetness

Wet: pretty much the same as in the bottle, but within moments the sweet vanilla starts to emerge, knocking the saffron to the background.

Dry: this smells like everything I had hoped detestable putrescence would be...straight up melty French vanilla ice cream!

This layers Amazingly with Castitas bath oil and bourbon vanilla bath oil... Especially as a bedtime fragrance!

  11. From Ysanne's website: Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs have created a perfume inspired by my song, 'The Orchard,' reflecting the lyrics with notes of plum, roses, chocolate and wood. The label painting is by Gail Potocki. (See photo) Perfumes are hand-blended and will be mailed at the end of February, with a gift note from you to your loved one. http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/ http://www.gailpotocki.com/

    Ysanne's Kickstarter website

    This is GORGEOUS!! :wub2:

I can pick out all 4 notes in this blend - when first applied, it's mostly the chocolate and wood with a slight floral undertone that emerges first. As it begins to dry, the rose comes out a bit more, but it's not super strong, or "in your face". It's definitely grounded by the chocolate and the wood. As it continues to settle, the plum begins to emerge, and lend a bit if fruity sweetness. I adore this blend, it's not foody, despite the chocolate. It's really well blended, and it just a great combination!

  12. I need to try this

I am a strange combination of traits.

I'm wise and ultra-mature yet child-like and silly.

    I'm often cold(physically, I mean, not emotionally)

I'm very tactile, I love touching people when I talk to them.

I'm possibly the most genuine and brave person I know.

I'm confident yet I'm also very vulnerable.

I'm gullible, I tend to believe first and then think. I just don't understand why would anyone say something which is not true in order to be amusing.

I struggle with anxiety a lot.

People tend to confide in me.

I get on well with people older than myself.

    Dogs love me.

I could easily have dinner with the Queen, famous people etc; it wouldn't intimidate me at all.

    I love meeting new people.

    I get bored easily.

    I obsess easily.

I feel very strongly about human connection and that we should hug more, talk more, listen more and be real.I hate pretense and fakeness.

I don't understand small talk, one night stands, bullying, football, getting drunk...

I'm ambitious-I actually believe that I'll do something big in life.

I love being with people, but I burn out easily and then need time to recharge, in my own company.

I'm passionate about music, beauty(beautiful faces, objects, words) and Nature.

I love rolling in the grass, jumping and expressing myself through dancing.

I believe in Angels and I believe I'm protected.

    I'm very perceptive and observant.

    I'm witty, bright and creative.

    I'm prone to low moods.

I don't have and never had any proper emotional support from my family.

    I'm easily excitable.

I came to the UK on my own, when I was 26.

I love Lemon Scented Sticky Bat and O. mostly because they make me feel comforted and cozy.

From reading about you, I would suggest:

Dragon's Milk - it's scent is akin to liquid confidence....It sounds like you have a confident and outgoing personality, and this blend I think, would suit you well - it also has honey, and since you like O, I think you would like this a lot!

I also think there may be a lot of scents that will work for you in the Mad Tea Party...I would also suggest White Rabbit specifically from there...your comment about being able to have Tea with the Queen sort of made me think of this blend, which is like a tea party, all wrapped up in a bottle!

If you aren't too afraid to try Aquatics, I also would recommend Y'Ha-Nthlei from the Picnic in Arkham section - it's a beautiful blend, one that evokes a strong feeling "being meant for something greater"...it's almost ethereal.

    Now, for my personality:

I am an Aquarius, very creative, and I like to think outside the box.

I tend to be described as "an old soul"...or that I have wisdom beyond my years.

I am a shark fanatic...I've been in a shark cage, and have photographed sharks freely in the ocean.

This also means, I am a SCUBA diver. I have almost no fear....

...except for spiders. I don't do spiders.

I am a paranormal investigator...Ive been on 100's of investigations, from public venues to private homes. and yes, only once in my life, have i ever fully seen "a ghost". Not sure what a ghost is, but whatever it will eventually become known as, I saw one. It looked like a heat mirage.

I am a cat person, though I really like Dogs to...basically, animals love me.

I am very social, and have no problems traveling alone, or going on crazy adventures.

I followed Nine Inch Nails on tour, back in 2005-2006...from the entore East Coast, all the way to London, UK.

I am very laid back, but I love to make people laugh, and goof off.

I tend to wear headier/spicy/incensy blends....snake Oil is amazing on me, as is most blends with snake oil. I also really like creamy scents.

what would you recommend for me?

  13. from the post, The Bittersweet chocolate bath oil. It smells exactly like brownie batter. it's amazing! :yum: The Bourbon vanilla Bath oil is also awesome, though there is a bit of a sassafrass note in there, which reminds me so much of a VERY vanillary blend of sarsparilla root beer. It does die down a bit, and stay in the background, so it's not "intrusive", but if you like that combo, definitely go for it. I also personally ADORED L'Eau De L'Ardeur bath oil, which is white chocolate, roses, vanilla, and soft resins. It's gorgeous. I bought backups of that one and the bittersweet chocolate, because they are THAT good!

also, if you are a big floral fan, I would say give the Passion set (bath oil & perfume) a try - I was a bit unsure about it after reading reviews, especially since I am really selective when it comes to florals. The bath oil was REALLY strong floral, carnations and to me, lillies (though there are no lillies) but it doesn't stay nearly that strong on the skin, in fact, the scent that lingers on the skin is beautiful! also, my bath towel smelled FANTASTIC after I used it! (that night, I went back to wash my face before bed, and dried my face on the same towel, and fell in love with the scent all over again!) It layers beautifully with the perfume, which also adds a red musk element to it. Lovely!

from the lab, I would say:

    Smut (red musk, amaretto/cherries...TDF!!)

Womb Furie - Snake Oil meets honey

The vine is also a really popular choice, but I thought it was a little on the sweet side. It's pretty, I don't dislike it, but I think it's not something *I* would usually gravitate towards.

  14. This was a really pretty scent! I got an imp from my imp pack order, after i had heard so many good things about this blend. I was not disappointed! I'm not sure If I would go for a bottle, as I have so many really nice blends, that this would be just one more. It's sort of a light clean smelling floral with an underlying sweetness (the vanilla). It's really wearable, and a very "daytime" kind of scent!

  15. Oh Alice, how do I love thee? :wub2:

I had been wanting to try this one for a while, since so many people really like it. When I first got my imp, and sniffed it, I was like, "THIS is what all the hype is about?!" it smelled sort of strange, almost like a slightly toned down version of Dana O'Shee...which I like, but I was not expecting a scent to be similar. So, I applied some on the crook of my elbow, and while wet, it stayed much the same as in the imp. I was pretty unimpressed, and sort of disappointed.

I was sitting watching TV, when I caught this whiff of a powdery (in a good way) sweet, almost fruity smell...and I was looking everywhere for the source. Suddenly, I realized it was Alice! she morphed on my skin, to become this very dainty, soft powdery-creamy fruity light floral. Absolutely gorgeous! This is definitely going on my "Bottle" list!

  16. I REALLY like this - so far, of every single blend I hoped to work well for me containing leather, this is the ONLY one that does! (though to be fair, Narrow opening isn't bad, but I definitely think this one trumps that one!) This one is a cleaner, lighter scent, with the heady background of leather. The tobacco is present, but tamed by the Chardonnay, so it's not as overpowering as it is in the narrow opening, which in that one, the Myhrr exacerbates. I think I am content with my imp for now, but will also like to see how this one ages!

  17. I'm unsure about this one - I can tell it has the POTENTIAL to be gorgeous, but I have a lab fresh imp, so I am going to let it age for a bit - My first impressions of testing it while fresh, is that the honey, is sort of a dirty beeswaxy honey...and the vanilla is not strong enough yet to overtake it. I didn't *hate it* at this stage, I could tell that it'll be a much more well rounded scent after a few months, so I am going to retest a little later on and make a better review -

  18. This is very similar in the imp as it is on my skin - it's a very HEAVY foody blend. I think, this is something I would wear to bed, if at all, since it smells so much like food, that I can't see myself wearing it out.

as for the notes, I can definitely pick out the wine, the honey, and there is definitely that buttery cake note. It's not cloying, but I don't find it "creamy" - mostly, its very sweet, rich, and heavy buttery cake. It kind of makes me hungry
