1. I have dies and gone to Hippie/vanilla Heaven! This is so unbelievable awesome...I think this just sky rocketed into my top 3 of all time!

The vanilla is SOOO smooth...like just perfect. It doesn't go plasticky, it's not foody, but it is sweet and creamy. The patch is mellow, gritty, and woodsy, and just stunning mingled with the vanilla. So glad I got my hands on this!

  2. Ü Mütter Museum - Seriously? People love this shizzle? Really? Honestly, I'm shocked. To me, this smells ghastly. It smells like someone made a reduction of dead people and poured it in a bottle. I washed it off, smothered my arm in deodorant, and the foul odor still worked its way through.

So everyone else loves it. I guess that means I need to give it another try in a few days in case there's something hormonally wonky going on with me.

I am with you on this one! To my nose, it smells like old formaldehyde - I brings me right back to being a lab assistant in the science building in College, and having to refil the specimen jars *barf*

I also couldn't wash it off fast enough.

Though it's funny, if I put that thought out of my mind, I cna definitely smell the green grass scent, and the other notes...it's just how they mesh, it smells to close to formaldehyde for my liking. Pretty appropriate for the Mutter museum though!

  3. This smells like the beach! It's a mix of Gardenia and that old school hawaiian tropic suntain oil I used to use back in the day (now I'm all about sunblock SPF 50! )

anyway, the vanilla bean sort of just softens the coconut and the tiare...I don't pick it up as a sweet creamy note at all. But it's a fantastic summer scent! These glosses work awesome in my hair too - I spritz it on my hands and run my hands through my damp hair, staying a bit away from my roots, and close to my scalp. My hair dries with a wonderful scent, and it keeps my hair sleek rather than frizzing out!

I used this, and then wore Elegba as my perfume oil of choice to pair it with - it was SCRUMPTIOUS! I imagine Obatala would also be a good match!

  4. In bottle: oooo! I wish this were a real beverage! It does indeed smell like ginger cider. It’s fizzy real ginger beer scent about coequal with a hard cider scent. Wet: The ginger is now stronger and the cider less alcoholic. There is still fizz, but it’s more understated. Let’s call this mildly carbonated ginger beer with a touch of apple. This is the best the fizz note has ever done on my skin and paring it with ginger is pure genius. The ginger and apple play really well together. Omnomnom. Dry: mostly ginger with hints of apple and fizz.

It almost is a real beverage! In the fall, if they sell it near where you live, look into Angry orchard Hard Cider in the apple ginger flavor!

    SO YUM!

  5. This is gorgeous, though it is a bit baby-powderish on me, at first, then I get a *hint* of lemon peaking out and then it sort of morphs into this darker version of snake Oil...except it doesn't have the red musk, it's like it's definitely one of the compnents of SO, with a vanilla-ish softness (coming from the amber). I really like this! I am testing this lab fresh by the way, I am thinking this will age Beautifully!

  6. I got married last September (2011) and wore snow white!!!

Everytime I smell it, it brings me right back to my wedding day.

OMG, sharkdiver!! You were the most beautiful bride ever!! :wub2: (And hubby's quite a looker too!) I wish I had known about BPAL before my wedding, as it would have been amazing to select the perfect oil. And Snow White was a great choice for you...your picture actually reminded me of Snow White!

Aww! Thank you sweetie!! Snow white is definitely my most favorite BPAL scent! :wub2:

  7. A dark, earthy ginger cider.

This was the other blend I was most leery about trying, since I really didn't care for punkie night or Lamb's wool (I never tried the autumn cider blend from this last round of weenies, so I can't compare it to that) - that being said, I LOVE this! The ginger and the spices are an amazing combination, and it has that zesty zing! that just makes this so refreshing, yet it really seems like it will be something I will definitely want to wear all the time in the fall. It has a great throw too.

    Out of 5 stars: 4 :wub2:

  8. "You have 13 hours in which to solve the Labyrinth…before your baby brother becomes one of us…forever."

A scent of profound foreboding: dusty black stone, dried rosehips, black moss, and creeping ivy.

Out of the 5 Labyrinth scents, this was my least favorite, though I still liked it quite a bit, so that is really saying something of how amazing these blends are!

This one is definitely "airy" and the "stone" is definitely present - The ivy and stone are the strongest notes, though every now and then I was catching a whiff of roses - which must be coming from the rosehips. It's extremely well blended, and a really great representation of the stone Labyrinth. This actually evokes a scent memory for me, of it being wet and rainy outside while sitting on a stone wall waiting for the bus to school when I was a kid! crazy!

this will probably be my rainy day scent - since it captured that SO well!

out of 5 stars: 3 (but that's mostly just personal preference)

ETA: I've been wearing this 2 days in a row, to really get a deeper feel for it, since my initial test was done while watching Labyrinth and testing the other 4 blends as well - I actually DO really like this blend a lot more than I originally thought; this one was an herbal almost masculine, but still unisex feel to it, that is softened by the rosehips - It warms up a lot the longer it's been on my skin, and doesn't have heavy throw, but just enough - someone would have to come close like for a hug or something to get a whiff of it, rather than it filling my office with it's scent. I think I'd bump this one up to a 3.5 - 4 out of 5

  9. "It bit me!"

"What did you expect fairies to do?"

"I thought they did nice things.

    Like — like granting wishes."

"Shows what you know, don't it?"

Osmanthus and raw honey with lavender, chamomile, white peppermint, raspberry, honeysuckle, thyme, bergamot, and Dracula orchid.

This is stunning! It has a very ethereal feel, as you would expect - I think this is acheived through the balance of floral, fruit, and white mint. The mint isn't strong, but it's there just enough to pick up on, and to take the "bite" off of the floral and fruit. The florals that are in this, as just downright gorgeous - not cloying funereal flowers by any stretch! I also can pick up on the sweetness of the raspberry. This will be an awesome springtime scent!

    out of 5 stars: 4

  10. "I ain't never been no one's friend before."

Fermented pumpkin, brown leather, dust, tobacco leaf, and dark woods.

I thought for sure that Hoggle was not going to work on me, since 99% of the time, pumpkin in any form is a death note for me - BUT, this is amazing! the pumpkin is definitely a main player, but mixed with the combination of the tobacco leaf, brown leather, and a woodsiness, it's PERFECT! This actually reminds a little of Jack, but just so much better! This is definitely an awesome scent for the fall, especially around Halloween!

out of 5 stars: 4 (for when you want a good Halloween scent) otherwise, a 3.5

  11. "I ask for so little.
    Just let me rule you…
and you can have everything that you want.

    Just fear me…
    …love me…
…do as I say and I will be your slave."

Ethereal lilac fougere and gleaming leather with ti leaf, tonka absolute, white musk, and oudh.

Jareth is definitely an older delinquint brother of Dorian's...they have that same smooth vanilla-musky swagger, but there is a subtle leather note layered in there, that definitely makes Jareth the bad boy of the bunch - You know, that vibe that says, "While my brother is sipping tea with the ladies, I'm stealing their children!" This, like Dorian, is very unisex I feel, though maybe bordering on the masculine side - though not so much that it's out of place for a woman to wear it. This for sure, is an amazing scent!

    out of 5 stars: 4.5

    :wub2:

"I wish the Goblin King would come take ME away...Right now!"

  12. I would suggest:

The gladdener of all hearts (baby powder, milk and honey are actually notes in this blend!)

Antique lace (if you can get your hands on some!) if very sofft, creamy, and smells a little bit like a feminine sort of powder.

Blossoms in Springtime also had a similar effect as AL, but with a tad more floral blended in.

  13. re-testing this one...and I really like it! I liked it initially too, but now, It seems like the type of scent that just wraps around you, and melds nicely - it's not all up in your face, but it's there, and it's...inviting.

To me, THIS is what I hoped Perversion would smell like :thud:

  14. Two of my favorites are Tokyo Stomp: A sweet and crisp vanilla mint!

    and

    Snowblind: The perfect vanilla mint.

I second both of these, and will also add, for a non-foody muskier mint:

Colder & Colder from the little Match Girl Yules - may be harder to track down, but I am sure you can at least score a decant.

Peppermint, spearmint, white musk, and elemi settling into a deepening darkness.

  15. This is GORGEOUS! :wub2:

It actually reminds me of Antique Lace a bit, with a little less vanilla -

with Antique lace, I got a stronger vanilla cotton, and a softer musky floral - with this, it's sort of in the reverse. I get a stronger musky floral that smells very similar to the musky floral in AL, and then there is this light vanilla-ish edge to it that's really pretty. This is a really good substitute for AL for me, since that one is so hard to come by without selling a kidney!

also, I've seen people mention that it has the same muskiness that O has...O was AWFUL on me, this is stunning. So those of you who had problems with O, don't fear this!

  16. This smells like gigantic burnt awful FAIL on me...I have a decant from a lovely forumite, and It's gonna go straight to the swap pile, without passing go! I actually had to go wash it off, and then try to mask the awfulness with the Malignant dreams of Cthulu in love...but I can still smell it :cry2:
