    Switch Witch Fall 2020

Etsy Wishlist (not expecting anything from here, but sharing so you know my aesthetic) 9/19/20 Would anyone be interested in anything from Bucees?! It’s a magical giant beaver gas station/shop! It has spices, fudge, Knick knacks, all things Texas, candy, beef jerky, roasted nuts, and of course beavers! Most things like the fudge and nuts are made in house. I'm not opposed to anything on this list if you think I might like it. 9/18/20 Aaaaaah Lilith are up! Is there anything from the release that you want? Decant or full bottles? So, no one needs to feel compelled to buy me BPAL. I know this is a pricey addiction. Below is just stuff I'm interested in: Decants: #2 Pencil; Etienne De Boray Oak; A little Piece of Eternity; Sentence First, Verdict Afterwards; Shadows and Light; Thunk Bottles: Artist's Entrance; Booboo Eyes; Cannibal Lady Macbeth; Loaf; Peanut; You Are Not Alone New question: Would you be interested in anything from Cellar Door Bath Supply Co.? Yes, these are gorgeous and I've never tried them. The only thing is that hay is a scent that doesn't play well with me, and I'd probably prefer bar soaps over the other kinds items they sell. 9/16/20 Candles! Anything from these places catch your fancy? https://cantripcandles.com/collections (restocks Friday 9/18 at 9:00 PST) Those matchbooks are amazing. The library candle sounds really intriguing. https://miruscandles.com/collections This is a huge catalog and I'm not sure if I have the endurance to go through it. I wouldn't mind an interesting/unique blend. https://briarwickcandles.com/collections Same answer as above. Anything you'd like from Future Primitive: https://futureprimitivesoap.co.uk I don't think I've had the pleasure of trying this company, but have heard of it. I'd be happy to receive anything from here! It all sounds lovely. Would you, my dear Witchee, like anything from April Gloom? https://www.etsy.com/shop/AprilGloom (this is our @spookygrrrly - switch witch code coming soon to a spreadsheet near you.) Adorable, but I think I'm okay without. How about from https://twinklentwilight.etsy.com ? (This shop belongs to @twilighteyes - we can maybe crochet some of the unicorns that are sold out...) (photos in spoilers.) I'm not in need of items like those. Are you a sock person? If so what are your favourite kinds to wear? Do you have a sockdreams wishlist? I like tall, cozy socks, usually knee or thigh high. I've definitely got the thunder variety of thighs, so they would need to accommodate that lol. Would you enjoy anything from my friend Brian's Etsy shop? These are awesome! Heresy, Facesucker Deux, The Dread King, Matriarch, and Exhumed are giving me feels. Idk why but I can't unbold these sentences. 9/15/20 I have a friend who does pet caricatures. He's done ones for all of my pets. Is this something you would be interested of for your pet(s)? No thank you. 1- Would you like anything from House of Gloi, especially from their Autumn Update? (https://www.hausofgloi.com/collections/fall-1) Maybe a scrub, butter bomb, or pumpkin butter. Ghost Puffs sounds good. I try to avoid hay scents, and unfortunately their soap dries my skin out. 2- I know the tea question has been asked, but what, specifically, about Adagio teas? I really like their sample packs, and they've got some *very* compelling new varieties up for Autumn! (https://www.adagio.com) Kentucky Bourbon and Bonfire sound delicious. 3- What about anything tempting from Dandelion Chocolate? (https://store.dandelionchocolate.com/pages/home) I am fan of nougat, but otherwise I'm ok. 9/14/20 Nui Cobalt Designs perfumes...(just got her latest email): How about the scents being discontinued? The Critters? I don't think I can afford to get into another perfume house haha. Do you decorate seasonally/for holidays? Is there anything in particular you would like to that end? I do for Christmas, but not so much for Halloween, even though I love Halloween more. I don't have any particulars for this question right now. 9/13/20 Do you have a favorite art style/movement/artist? I adore Art Deco and Baroque. I'm here for the drama hahaha. I also like folk art in the very witch-y, hag-y vein. Pulp art is great too! Who is your fashion icon(s)? Siouxsie and Wednesday Addams. In general I also like grunge, kinderwhore, and just looking like a low-level dungeon acolyte. What is your favorite mythological creature? Probably the Bannik. I like the liminal kind of things. Fond of gorgons and tsukumogami as well. It's hard to pick a favorite! is there anything you want from Lush (yes, I know they are always breaking people's hearts these days by discontinuing beloved items, but I for one still rely on their skincare, and haven't found other bubble bars that are anywhere near as good)? Any of the Halloween bath bombs or bubble bars (or bath bombs in general). Rose Jam is always a good pick, and Vanillary is one of the only vanillas I really like (the other is NAVA Crystalline). 1) Do you need any astrological work done, since thats one of my professions? Any particular areas you could utilize a consultation? I don't have a particular area because generally all facets of my life are some kind of wreck lol. Really it's a have-at situation from any angle. 2) How do you feel about the homemade fudge I sell in my etsy shop? (See link to my shop in my signature) -particular preferences, flavors (consider I take special flavor requests all the time!)? The Forest Fruit sounds lovely. 3) How do you feel about keto or sugar-free, low carb baked goods or treats?? Its how I live, so Im pretty damn good at it. I don't usually partake but am open-minded. 9/12/20 One of the things I do is make nifty things from sweaters that I cut up & upcycle into things like super warm mittens, arm warmers, striped arm warmers, cowls, teapot cozies, & French press cozies. I don't have a slipper I love yet, but I'm working on it. So, which of these things might you like? Give me some thoughts on colors you like & if for a teapot or press, I need to know a size. I think arm warmers would the best for me out of this list. I usually like earthy and dark colors. After enjoying looking at the links several others have put in the questions, I decided to add some of my own favorite independent artists who I enjoy supporting - so, what do you think of the goodies from these people? And specific items you love? Enjoy! 1) https://www.catcoven.com/ Wow, what a great site! Patches: death and wine, memento mori, All Seeing Death's Head. Pins: Medieval Monsters: Man-Eater Pin, Medieval Monsters: Fire Dragon. 2) https://www.mineralgypsy.com Not my jam right now. 3) https://www.redbubble.com/people/thelatestkate/shop Not my thing. 4) https://www.marikapaz.com/shop/ Wolf Beastie and Badger Faerie Pins are so stinking cute. 5) https://www.faunwood.com This art is so awesome. I love the prints that are mostly black and white with a little bit of red or aqua in them. Reminds me of Princess Mononoke a bit. ❤️ 6) https://www.shannatrumbly.com/ Not my style. 7) https://fiddlersgreenzine.com Not my jam. 8 ) https://www.hedgespokenpress.com Not so much for me. Does anyone like the prints or items from www.ElissaMarieCreative.com? I have a few of her prints and the notebooks and they are quality! I'm ok. What about www.drawingsbynicole.com? Anything specific? These are lovely, but not quite my style. Does anything from www.vapidlacquer.com stick out to you? In general I like cold process and hot process soaps. I do pour painting/acrylic fluid art (with varying degrees of success, haha). Would you like a custom piece in colors of your choice (takes 3-4 weeks with curing, longer if you want it sealed, so it would arrive post-round if custom) or a piece already finished in my collection? I have mostly 12 x 12 and 10 x 10s right now. Pics available upon request! You should definitely post some pics! 9/11/20 Is there anything you'd like from the UK? I generally appreciate things that are regional. So if your area has some kind of specialty it's known for, that'd be great to try. Do you have a particular fandom you'd like stuff from? I don't usually collect items like that, but most Ghibli stuff is adorable. How do you feel about tea? Preferences? Would you want anything from David's Tea (https://www.davidstea.com/us_en/home/), Steepologie (https://www.steepologie.com/), Bird & Blend (https://birdandblendtea.com/us_en/), or do you have a favorite tea maker to suggest? What about tea tools or cups? I do really love tea and tea cups! I don't think there's a tea I'm not fond of. I think my favorites are Earl Grey and jasmine, but I like many blends too. How do you feel about fragrant things for the home like incense, candles, atmosphere spray? My favorite atmosphere spray ever is Exotic Bazaar. I got a sample from the Post a long time ago and have always wanted a bottle. I also really like bread-scented candles. I think it was Bath & Body Works that had a french bread one that I adored. Incense is also good too! Do you share your home with any loved ones (human, feline, canine, etc.) who might enjoy a tiny treat too? I have a young son and two cats. All are pretty spoiled, haha! 9/9/20 would anybody like a small cross stitch thing, like a patch or pin? or cross stitching notions like handmade needle minders? A patch sounds pretty cool! 9/8/20 Art and artists - anyone dig any of this? https://www.studiodesade.com/ (They also do masks, see here.) Nice art, but not my style. If you knit/crochet/weave, would you like custom dyed yarn? And if so do you have preference on weight, fiber, colors? I do like custom dyed yarn, and typically favor blues, grays, and greens. I don't have a preference on weight or fiber. I am just not a fan of really bright colors. what is one fun/frivolous thing for $20 or less that you’d enjoy? I am a big fan of Korean skincare. I use sheet masks often and will always use a serum or ampoule. I am a sucker for the cute packaging lol. I also like Japanese tea cups and stationary accessories. If I sent you to a dollar store with $20, what would you walk out with? I usually go to the dollar store with a particular mission in mind, like shopping for birthday party things or looking for some kind of thing to help with organization. Sometimes I go there looking for cheap glass items, like vases. I’m not there often to be honest, but it is fun to look around. 9/5/20 what are your feelings on home made/ home canned jams & pickles or syrups? I even make things with berries I grow in my garden. I make both brandied & bourbon cherries. Syrups good for cocktails, in lemonade or tea, flavors include Lavender, Lavender + Lemon, & Lavender + Vanilla. Interested? Those cherries sound fantastic! I also love spicy pickles. The syrups sound fun, but other than sakura I tend to not like floral flavors. I’m a big fan of lemon, though! Is there something that you're especially hoping to receive for this round? For example, a brand you've heard of that you're especially wanting to try, or a certain "thing" that you really want but just cant bring yourself to buy for yourself?? I am just happy to participate in this. It’s so nice to think of someone you don’t know and do something kind for them. I appreciate the thought and energy of curating something for someone else. Would you rather receive supplies/tools for your own craft/hobby or receive something you can't make yourself? I like knitting, so pretty yarn is always nice. I also like miniature dollhouses. Otherwise, having something that someone else made sounds great! I love the craft of other people. Whenever I'm at a fair (and have the funds) I always try to buy local pottery (usually mugs or bowls). Is there anything you'd like from Penzeys (https://www.penzeys.com/)? Fox Point is probably my favorite seasoning ever, so I’d never say no to that. I do fortunately live just 10 minutes away from one of their stores, so if I don’t receive that I won’t be heartbroken. 9/3/20 Would you like anything from here? https://www.etsy.com/shop/TaterRoundsBeauty Sure! I don’t wear a lot of eyeshadow (mostly liquid eyeliner), but I always love soap. When I wear lipstick I usually wear reds or browns, but also haven’t been wearing lipstick much at all lately. 9/2/20 Would you like a face mask from one of my favorite artists? https://akumuink.com/collections/facemasks I like the cheshire and jack-o-lantern smiles, though I have a lot of face masks right now. one of our fellow BPAL friends makes custom masks, Hakutaku Custom Masks on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/HakutakuMasks/ ). Would anyone be interested in one of her masks? All of those are beautiful! 9/1/20 are you familiar with https://www.a-natural-alternative.com/ ? Take a peak & let me know if you might like to try something. All of those sound nice! I have really dry skin because of the climate where I live. Well, except for my face lol. I definitely got the oily genes there, unfortunately. 8/30/20 Is there anything you want from Japan? Current kit kat flavors are... Salty Lemon, Salty Lychee, Sweet Potato, Chestnut and possibly still some Cookies and Cream Ice Cream or Strawberry Ice Cream from summer. Other than that, anime goods, cute stationery, other Japanese snacks, lay it on me! I would love items from Japan! I’ve always wanted to get gashapon--they just seem so fun. I love the horror art and all of the super cute stuff too. I wish I lived near a Daiso, haha. I’ve always wanted to try sea grapes! I also love the scent of yuzu. Oh, and anything flavored sakura is awesome. The sweet potato and chestnut flavors for Kit Kats sound delicious. I’ve also always wanted Japanese Starbucks items, like the tumblers and mugs with sakura and Mt. Fuji on them. What are your favorite self-care items or activities? I'm especially curious about things that you hesitate to do/get because they feel like frivolous luxuries. For self-care I like sheet masks and body scrubs. I also never seem to buy a pair of comfy slippers, even though I need some. 8/29/20 Does anything from Paintbox Soapworks catch your eye (http://paintboxsoapworks.com/)? I love their bath streusel and hot/cold process soaps. I have wanted to try their Bookkeeper’s Butter, but never seem to budget for it. Does anything from the Trading Post's etsy page catch your eye (https://www.etsy.com/shop/bptradingpost)? Luna Negra sounds interesting.

    Sybaris

I don't usually like violet, as it can come off very soapy to me, but this is really pretty. The incense, tonka, and especially clove really balance out the clean and candy floral scent of the violet. It's a very good scent for daytime and office I think, as it's not cloying or heavy. Feminine, youthful, and balanced in general, so I am happy with it!

    Boystyle Aristocrat

I'm so sad, I bought this as a low partial and pretty much all of it leaked out in transport. There was just a smidge left to test, luckily. I agree with the other reviews, though. It's a baby powder, patchouli and light pepper that doesn't have much throw. It's a clean scent just like Mellifluous said, kind of like a right of the shower clean and not in a soapy way. I think it's really nice, but it's not something I'd personally wear.

    Buen Viage

Yay, this was an Xmas present from my friend! When applied it was a very strong, almost astringent wood and I was kinda worried. However, after a few minutes that went away and I was left with a smooth, smoky, spicy wood. I find it to be really lovely, kind of like how a cigar box smells. I think that this blend is pretty gender neutral and would smell great on a guy. Bonus that it's a Goya label! This is a great blend and I can see myself wearing it often, especially in the winter. ETA: At the end the sandalwood stands out really nicely.

Scents that smell "motherly" and protective

I think Black Bear Moon would be great for this.

    Meliai

This is a nice coniferous tree, rosemary and wintergreen scent to me. I get a sweetness to it, but it's not overt or anything. I get the greenness people are talking about, but it's less like grass and more like herbal. It's nice but minty is not my bag.

    Switch Witch Fall 2012!

Hola witch or warlock! I'll be updating this with questions and links to lists and such for you to peruse. Before I start I just want to say thank you so much for doing this for me. I really appreciate it and I hope that you have as much fun participating as I will! The new questions are at the bottom in blue, updated 10/3 (added loose shadow q). ThinkGeek wishlist My Etsy favorites Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? I like my PJs SUPER baggy so I always buy them xxl, lol. I don't like fluffy ones so much, but I like cotton and whatever yoga pants are made of. What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white, dark, etc? I prefer dark chocolate and fruits more than nuts. But once again, trying to get trim for my wedding next year. I can say I love Ritter Sport strawberries and cream and the milk chocolate and corn flakes one. Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) I think something that was cute and unique for the kitchen would be great, but we do have a lot of the standard things already. We don't really need bento stuff since my family is Korean. We have chopsticks out the wazoo. Neatest freebie: I swapped with skunkwater and she was sooooo amazing. I don't think I've ever received such generous frimpage or nicely packaged things. It was such a treat and if I ever trade with her again I will be sure to blow her mind, lol. S'mores: I love, love, love s'more poptarts but sadly I am dieting for my Halloween wedding next year (we are a Halloween a lovin' peoples to the core) and can't really do the delicious things right now. I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? I have no idea what Penzeys is, but we have Trader Joe's and Whole Foods here. Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? That's fine, I think things like homemade cocoa or pancake mix are awesome. I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! I always have this dilemma at Cost Plus World Market, they have so many cool little knick knacks and such. I wish I could be more specific, but it's just like at Urban Outfitters and you're like, "look at all teh random neatness1!!1" What kind of cuisines do you like? And, what are your favorite restaurants? Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese are my favorites. I just recently went to Pei Wei and it was pretty good, but mostly I stick to local hole-in-the-wall type places, or just nice local restaurants in general. I'm from Canada - is there anything specifically a witchee might like that is only available here? Firstly, can I say I love our neighbors to the North? We're planning on relocating there after grad school. Anywho, the only thing I can think of is that there are some stores in Vancouver and Toronto that specifically sell Korean make up and I really want innisfree brand BB cream. What are your "fandoms" and would you like a t-shirt from TeeFury if an appropriate one came up? Buffy, LotR, Harry Potter, Cthulu, Firefly, Xena, Battlestar Galactica and such. Anything in that vein is awesome. Do you have an eReader and if so which one? I don't currently, boo. I love the feel of actual books, but I want to get one soon because they're so much more ecological. Do you like candles, or tart burners, or something? If so, what's your favorite scent to burn? I've got a toddler so candles are a no for us right now. I don't have a tart warmer, but I'd like one, except hubby doesn't appreciate smellies as much as I do. Would you be interested in washable/reusable muslin "paper" towels (basically muslin squares hemmed around the edge)? Maybe in some sort of box to put on your kitchen or bathroom counter? We're really stocked up on towels for this purpose already, but that's a great gift idea! Do you drink alcohol and if so, would you be OK with your witch sending you homemade infused vodka? Also, does your state allow alcohol to be shipped through the mail (for example, PA doesn't). Nope, I'm not a drinker. But it's funny, because I love wine, alcohol and tobacco notes but I don't smoke or drink. Marzipan? I like it okay, it's nice every once in awhile. If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round) as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australian specialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? Yes, I love local stuff! It's so nice to get stuff that is specific to a region. If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? I love, love hand knit things! Fingerless glove, socks, and scarves are awesome!!! Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? My hubby (we're married but actually having our wedding next year because we kind of eloped) is 27 and my son is almost 18 months. I'm sure either of them would appreciate something, but it's not going to hurt their feelings (or mine) if the box is just for me. How would you feel about a taste of (insert witch location here) box? Local things are great! I like experiencing other regions/cultures. Since it's been mentioned several times, and I've also offered to nacho witch some, would you you like to receive wild rice and or maple syrup? I promise to include recipe ideas with the wild rice. That'd be fab! I have 5 bushels of tomatoes sitting in the kitchen right now that are supposed to turn into red sauce tomorrow, so would anyone like a basic red sauce (spaghetti sauce) to make its way to them? I am actually kind of picky about sauces, lol. Would you be interested in having a bat adopted in your name? I'm always for helping the fur babies of the world. Some of your favorite artists? Classic and modern? Judith with the Head of Holefernes has been done a lot in art but I love it everytime, regardless of the artist. Anything Baroque or Neoclassical is great. I like dark themes, stark colors... Klimt is awesome, I love his work. Not into anything Nonrepresentational usually, though, and when I am I'm kinda picky about it. Honestly, anything dark and gothy would probably make me happy. If you could have an image or certain subject painted for you on any type of "canvas" (on a box, on paper, on a canvas, and so on) - could you point your witch to some of these images? Erm, I like suprises best? Once again, gothy, nerdy, scifi are all good. Is there a GC scent that's been on your list for ages but keeps falling off the bottom of your order because of the LEs? Yeah, there are a couple on my wishlist that keep getting put off. I've been getting into indie nail polish brands recently. What's your favorite indie brand of nail polish? Or what's your favorite mainstream brand of nail polish? Or are you not big on polish? I only do the polishes that are formaldehyde and other bad-stuff free (can't recall the names right now). Stuffed things: yea or nay? I like the plush toys that are a play or dark or creepy things, like Cthulhu. New Question: mix-in-a-jar? How to you feel about cookie or cake or soup mixes that come in jars and you just add, like, an egg or water or what have you? Sure I guess? I've never really used those before. Would you be interested in beer, wine, or other specialty beverages from your Witch's area? No alcohol please. Are there any crafts/skills you've wanted to learn but haven't gotten around to? And if so, would you be interested in supplies and tutorials? I would love to learn to make cold process soap, but I don't have the time or funds right now. I'd rather spend more time on a skill I need to hone better, like my knitting. Who here would be happy to get a lil' sumthin sumthin from Adagio Teas? I'm not familiar with them but I do love gourmet tea. Do you Ravelry? And if so, what's your handle over there? Would you be interested in gift patterns from your queue? Not currently. I live near this very cool Retro store (retrodrygoods.com) (you can order online too) - are there things from it that would make you squee if your witch sent them? I still need to check this site out. Who likes Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses? Sure, pumpkin is a great flavor. What does your kitchen look like? Colors/style? MESSY, Half painted. Witchee, what are your favorite quotes? I'll get to this one later. Put your iPod/MP3 player/what-have-you on random and list the first 10 songs it plays! Death in June - "Last Farewell" Johnny Cash - "First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" Skinny Puppy - "Download" B-52s - "Bushfire" Dead Kennedys = "Straight A's" New Model Army - "Better Than Them" Conflict - "Increasing the Pressure" Doom - "Black Monday" Citizen Fish - "Criminal" Frank Sinatra - "The Way You Look Tonight" A taste of <location> here box? sure! Witchee, would you like it if I made you a "mix tape" of songs that I think you might like? And if so, would you prefer mp3 or CD format? Sure, a CD for the car would be great. I know it is totally the wrong season (for most of us), but do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you like to grow? Nope, our yard is woefully out of shape for that. I'm about to be near a Lush store next week, is there anything you might like from there? I've never been to the wonderland that is Lush. Name one movie you keep meaning to buy, but just never get around to getting? Jiro Dreams of Sushi. Any favorite Bath & Body Works scents/products? I don't really like their stuff. Haus of Gloi is offering custom perfumes - would you like one? What would your ideal blend be? I've been kicking around the idea of black tea/bergamot/vanilla sugar/rose, black tea/bergamot/leather/rose, dragon's blood/woodsmoke/beeswax and honey/clove, or leaf pile/woodsmoke/leather/beeswax and honey. I think the last two sound the best. Any Bath, Body or nutritional type items you would love to try from a Natural and Organic food store (similar to Whole Foods) that you don't buy because they are a bit too pricey? Not that I can think of at the moment, I've mostly been wanting online things. Witchee, will you be gone from your normal mailing address at any point during the round? Yup, I'll be here. Are you a Disney fan or does even thinking about Disney make your head hurt? If you're into Disney, would you like something from the Happiest Place on Earth? I like some things, like Maleficent and Ursula. I also like the Kingdom Hearts games. dear witchee, would you, could you use an electric candle warmer? I think that'd be cool- hubby's scent aversion be damned, lol. Do you lust after some new socks/tights? Sure, I love knee/over the knee socks. Are you a gamer (of any sort - video, casual, tabletop) and are there any games you want? I love WoW and RPGs and action adventure (FF, Legend of Zelda). Would you be interested in BPTP CANDY? Sure but I'm not dying for it. Do you like coffee? If so, what kinds? Flavored, fancy, basic? Beans or ground? Yes, but I don't drink it often. I really like dirty chais. Mostly I prefer tea, I love a good London Fog. Would a Starbucks gift card make you happy or do you prefer your local place? I prefer local, the coffee place to go to here is called Satellite. CUSTOM-Made Pottery?? yea or nay? coffee mugs, rustic or more elegant? a set of bowls? soap dish? bird feeder? something alltogether different? and lastly, good colors for glazes...? Wow, that'd be awesome! I think I'd like something that looks like it's from the Shire, haha. Do you have a forum buddy? Someone who knows you and/or your tastes well enough to answer questions on your behalf? Yup, burymestanding. If you are on Livejournal, would you appreciate LJ stuff like paid time, custom userheads, stuff like that? If you are NOT on LJ but are on other sites that have similar paid-for services (Flickr, for example?) would you, and what are those sites/etc? No thanks. A question, witchees: if you are into tarot, what is your favorite card? I just like the artwork. And another question: would you like your own set of handmade rune stones or worry stones? Hmmm... probably not. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cider, or none of the above? Yes to all. Gum, hard candy, soft candy, or none of the above? I prefer soft. Loose tea or tea bags? Do you need anything for your loose tea? (Filters, presses, etc.) Any is fine. Blooming teas look beautiful. If you like tea, what kinds? I like things with bergamot or cherry. I am always open to new stuff. Zombies; Yay or Nay? Not just yay- huzzah! If you have kids, what are they into? Blue's Clues and being a ball hog at Gymboree. How do you feel about wearable knitted lace? Shawls, wraps, and the like? I don't really do shawls or wraps, but fingerless gloves, socks and coats are good. Looking at the warehouse, I notice that our lovely Greenwoodtree is able to do chart readings and/or forecasts at a very reasonable rate. Is this something you would want? Not really, but thanks. I live in Japan. Anything you would be interested in from there? Yes!!!!! Crazy Japanese goth and horror stuff please!!! Ghost stories art and stuff. Candy Corn: yes, no? Yes, but it's been awhile. Lately I've tried to avoid corn syrup as well. WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF!!! movies, comedians, black humor, your partner, a comic strip? what? My friends and hubby and the stupid things we talk about. Like, my husband claimed that cat poop has a chemical that can cause schizophrenia which leads to crazy cat ladies, so that spawned a whole thing about zombie cat poop and why fruit has seeds. You are meeting up with someone on a casual lunch/early afternoon thing. This person is someone you want to impress/look good for (for whatever reason, not necessarily romantic, and not necessarily for business either). What would you look like, given the contents of your wardrobe/etc? See the question below the next one. Apocalyptic prostitute. You are to be let loose in a clothing store of your choice, to pick a full outfit, down to the shoes, the accessories, etc. and things would be altered to fit you if needed. What store would that be, and what would you look like? I think it'd be Sourpuss and I'd look like an apocalyptic prostitute with giant boots, ha. You open a box from the post office to reveal the 3 things you want most right now. What are they? (caveats: size doesn't matter, but they have to be tangible/buyable). Stuff from the Haunt Halloween update, a magical cookie that is delicious and has no calories, and a diet coke. The end of this month I'm going to Scarefest, the big horror and paranormal con in Kentucky. (www.scarefest.com) If I were your witch, is there anything you would like from there (skull jewelry, art prints from an artist that catch your eye, etc), or anyone whose autograph or photo or such you would dig? I love anything Toxic Avenger, Rosemary's Baby, Hellraiser, etc. What is your holy grail "I'd kill to just have one drop in an imp" bpal scent? I think most everyone says Storyville, lol, which would be impossible but nice. Otherwise I'd like to try Cake Smash, Rivet Goth, or Dolly Kei. Are there any existing Weenies that you have your eye on, but haven't gotten around to getting? Not right now, I'm waiting for the Haunt stuff to go live at the beginning of October before I do any BPAL at the moment. If you wear earrings, do you have pierced ears? I addressed this in the questionnaire. Lip balm - tube or tin? I prefer tube because I often wear my nails long and the balm always gets stuck under my nail. Would you like to receive a journal or sketchbook? How aboutother pretty paper goods like post-its, notepads, bookmarks, letter paper/envelopes? Probably not because I am terrible with journals. Are you interested in audiobooks? If so, any specific titles? Nah, I don't have the time to listen to them. Bar soaps with some scrubby bits, yes or no? Sure, exfoliation is good. Do you need any small electronic gadgets like flash drivesand the like? I'm okay for right now. Would you like a pair of knitted socks? Yup! I would love some, hand-made things are the best. Do you have any use for knitted dishcloths, facecloths, etc, especially if they were fandom related? We're pretty good on cloths for right now. Do you subscribe to any sample boxes, and if so, which ones?Would you like to receive some samples? (perfume, eco/"green," skincare, hair, music downloads, cosmetics, soap...) Nope, I don't do things like that because I participate in decant circles every month. do you have a problem with nudes??? No I'm okay with them tastefully done but I don't really decorate with nude art. Haunt Halloween? YES. I adore her soap and skin glossing oil!! I'm interested in Tell the Bees and The Drying House (Salem Series), Gloomy Sunday, The Collector's Cabinet, Winchester, Claw and Cobble Stone, Burying Tree, Rising, and Palmist. I'd love the Lip Lusts as well, and Lavender Spice Tea sounds awesome. BPAL at NYCC? I think Badgers sounds great. Loose Shadows? Geek Chic just came out with a Cthulhu inspired set and I love it all. I also just placed my first order with Shiro Cosmetics for her Halloween set.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Thanks for responding! I am not really allergic to much of anything, though I am sensitive to nickel. I applied it to dry skin, and it was interesting because my skin became all red and angry in the exact pattern of the oil lol. I noticed on a different thread that there was another person who hasn't heard from the Lab in excess of a month. Hopefully they can get back to people in a more reasonable time frame soon. Chances are they just missed it, you can email the trading post and maybe get a quicker response, Puddin' is always quicksilver fast with replying. I am so sorry you were allergic! I just wanted to say that they did get back to me and suggested that it may be coumarin that could've been it. I kinda don't think so because I just tried some Possets that list that as a note, but who knows. I feel much better having gotten a response about it. Yay, thanks Lab!

    Thirteen (13): July 2012

This is the first 13 I've ever tried, yay! I think everyone has already hit it on the head- this is dark chocolate with a pink/raspberry quality over incense. It's seriously to die for, and the dragon's blood appeases the goth in me. I definitely see myself wearing this frequently.

    Shadwell

Shadwell is a very unique perfume. I feel like it's a lot of "little bits"- a little bit milky, a little bit musky, a little bit clean. I do smell a tiny hint of cologne, so a little bit masculine too. Overall, though, it's got this wonderful comforting quality to it. Just smelling it makes me feel very warm and kind of at home. I really wish I could describe it better, but it reminds me of the nice feeling you get after drinking a cup of tea with a splash milk, rainy days and soft blankets.

    Black Death

This is a really beautiful, sultry blend. I've been having bad luck with patchouli lately, but this is a wonderfully subtle blend that is slightly sweet. I do get a bit of citrus, but it fades and I mostly get the sandalwood, amber and a little bit of clove. I really like the spiciness in this one, it's very wearable.

    Hermes Trimegistus v2

This was a frimp from the wonderful skunkwater. It faded pretty fast on me, but what I got was mostly rosemary and lavender, which is exciting because I really love rosemary so much. I hope the Lab ends up doing more with this prototype!

    Baobhan Sith

This perfume is amazing! The grapefruit has a nice freshness to it and the apple blossom lends a wonderful sweetness that's tempered well with the white tea. I don't really pick up any ginger, which is fine by me because that's a hit or miss note for me. I don't feel like this has particularly good throw and fades fast, but it's so lovely I think that makes it bottle-worthy.

    The Obsidian Widow

Wow, I'm so on the fence about this one, bordering between moving on and buying a bottle, lol. All of the notes are win for me in this one, my only qualm being that the jasmine is a bit too strong. The concept is so beautiful, though, and really it is quite an evocative scent. I think that this would be a great, dramatic evening perfume. I think that what would make it perfect (for me) is if there were a little less jasmine, or perhaps something to temper it a bit. The wine note on this is pretty strong as well, but after drydown it's much better. It does go a bit powdery at the end, which actually might be the deal breaker for me.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Has anyone had any reaction to Creature Feature? I've tried on loads of BPAL at this point, and that was the only scent to make my skin red and itchy immediately. Lol, my skin turned all angry in the exact shape of the oil that was applied. I wrote the Lab a while ago an then also posted on FB but still haven't gotten a response about possible allergens in it. Actually, I'm a bit peeved, because I would've at least appreciated a return email even if they don't have any idea.

    Lust

The Lab and I are going to have to agree to disagree on the sexiness of patchouli. So... this is a miss for me. I will say that the red musk and myrrh is great, though! I'm just picky about my patchouli and this one doesn't do it for me. So far as I can smell it's all pretty balanced as to the scent description.
  18. Innocuousmold

    Spellbound

Red musk is generally win on me, but conversely amber is usually fail mostly due to the powder quality. The amber is definitely winning in this battle. I get hints of rose, but it's not strong enough for my tastes. ETA: I will say it is a gorgeous color, though!
  19. Innocuousmold

    Lysander

Like milo, I get the caramel, which is also a no-no for me. I also amp wood notes, which is not bad in this case at all. I do find this to be very pretty and it has a nice warmth to it, but then the oncoming musk smell kind of messes it up for me. I can definitely see how someone else would love this, though.
  20. Innocuousmold

    Scarecrow

Blargh, this is nail polish and dandelion or hay milk. It's a bit nauseating to me.
  21. Innocuousmold

    The Sea Foams Milk

So. I cannot palate this, and it's the first scent I've ever had the "OMG get this off of me" reaction to. It definitely is what it says it is, but to me the milk is yellow, unctuous and fatty. It sticks to the deep inside of the rough of my mouth in a not good way. The aquatics started off really lovely but they get drowned out really fast. Yikes!

    RPG Combos

So, in order to save me from buying every freakin' bottle in the series, I'm going the route of testing them one by one before combining anything. I really want to cull it down as much as possible before I jump into mixing things, falling in love with everything and being flat broke. I've noticed so far the only thing that's lasted well on me is Elf. Anyway, here are my notes so far. Oh, and I avoided reading the labs descriptions just to see what I get without having my perceptions colored. My Impressions Cleric: Wood notes with rose. It's pretty powder-y and a bit like incense. Mage: Woody, something sweet like grape and incense. Rogue: Wonderful! Well-oiled leather and hemp. Something a little animalistic is in there, too. Paladin: Butter-y soft pale suede, musk and a foody sweetness. Vanilla. Fighter: Almost straight leather, like a western wear store. Maybe a bit ozone-y? Ranger: At first it's a little acrid, resin and evergreen. Quickly morphs with a sweet wild berry smell with something like Black Hellebore. Yum! Halfling: This faded the fastest, but I got a nice and sweet oatmeal smell. Elf: this was by far the strongest. Started off kind of herbal and evergreen, but morphed into a honeysuckle-like sweet floral. Awesome! Gnome: Omg, not good. Astringent and prickly, kind of sweet and sour at one. Very green with lots of ginger. Good: Soapy and powdery, sweet and a bit floral. Not great for me. Chaotic: Dusty grape with something root-like and a bit earthy. A teeny bit of a floral, too. My Combos Chaotic Gnome: Wow, this improves Gnome so much! They go strangely well together, and Chaotic really takes the acrid edge off of Gnome. This is a really green, sweet and earthy smell. So neat, they actually compliment each other really well! (Still not for me, though). My Next Trials Chaotic Rogue Paladin Elf Zomg, I'm doomed to buy everything, I know it.

    Mata Hari

I was really looking forward to this one but all I get is jasmine. This is my shortest review ever, lol.
  24. Innocuousmold

    Rome

Astrigent and herbal lemon at first, dries with with a lot of evergreen and seriously, the teeniest bit of rose for me. It's a nice clean smell but this has zero throw. If it lasted a bit longer I think I'd hang on to this imp, but off to the swaps you go, Rome!
  25. Innocuousmold

    Nemesis

Wet, this is earthy, herbal and sweet. On drying I'm picking up the dried roses and dirt while it still retains its sweetness. Dried rose never fairs well with me, it always smells like potpourri. However, This isn't a bad scent by any means, but it lacks the oomph that I love from other BPAL blends. I'd say this one is about average for me.
