  1. Based on the notes I'd have never thought Spider would be a "me" scent, but Spider is so damn sexy it should be illegal.

I loved Spider in Anansi Boys, my very first thoughts on him were "Yeah, I'd fuck him." :P And I can absolutely picture him smelling exactly like his scent - crisp and fresh and sultry and sexy. all rolled into one.

I love wearing this scent. I cannot stop sniffing myself with it on, and even hours later I can still catch the scent unexpectedly when I turn my wrist or bend over.

  2. CT III: Strange Attractors; bottle # CXLVI

in the bottle: a strange lightly sweet fruity, but almost faintly root beer type smell.

first applied: smoky, a little dusty with a hint of powdery... the slightly sweet fruityness I smelled in the bottle is gone, though there's a hint of the root beer smell remaining if I search for it.

dry down: Not letting it fully dry down, as it produced an instant sinus headache for me. :P

Conclusion... as all Chaos Theories go, this one is indeed a wonderful experiment. I wish this blend had cooperated with my skin chemistry, but perhaps the next one I order will be the perfect one for me instead.

  3. Sage, the 3 year old, loves Bliss. I have some in a rollerbottle that I put on her frequently. Every night she goes to bed smelling of Somnus as well. Sacred Whore smelled wonderful on her too, but well... I am not going there having to explain the name, so I tend to avoid putting it on her. :P

Harley, the 10 year old, prefers Lick It right now. Alice and Anne Bonny work quite well on her too.

  4. LXVIII - a repost

In the bottle - very pink, fruity sweet smelling with a sharp edge

Wet on skin - light and sweet with a faint herbal undertone

Drying down - the sweet fruitiness fades into a light, soft, slightly floral scent. It still has the sweet edge to it, but not to the point it was at in the bottle. It's a gorgeous scent, just not one I'll wear.

  5. This is the first of the V-Day scents I got to try on my skin and I am in love. It's sweet and juicy, soft and flowery, and totally sexy and seductive all rolled into one. I've had a lot of problems with scents going wonky and powdery on me lately, but this is pure yumminess. I can't stop sniffing my wrist because of how yummy this is. :P

  6. Wow. I just got this as an extra, and like it. It's soft and delicate, yet not too obnoxiously girly for me. The flowers blend beautifully and there's just a gentle kiss of vanilla on me.

I can see myself wearing this once in a while... not too often, but on the rare occasion that I am feeling a bit girly.

  7. I finally got a chance to try Spanked earlier tonight. It's a very interesting scent, but totally not me. After about an hour's dry down it is cardamom and leather on me. But mostly cardamom. Unfortunately, it appears that I am not overly fond of the smell of cardamom and it's making my sinuses scream in agony.

It's really quite a shame, too, because I would totally love to tell people that I am wearing "Spanked." :P

  8. In the bottle: Sweet, sweet, sweet. I feel like I've walked into a cheesecake and cupcake factory.

Wet: Pretty much the same as in the bottle. Well, ok... slightly more cheesecake scented, very sweet and creamy and totally edible smelling.

Dry (about 30 minutes after application): Mellows somewhat, though still positively craving inducing. I think I may need to find a place that has cheesecake because I want some in the worst way now.

Verdict: I don't wear overly sweet foody scents as much as I should considering my love for them, but this will be great every now and again.

  9. In the bottle: barren, desolate, frozen icy chilly mint. Not peppermint, more wintermint as has been mentioned by other reviewers.

Wet: Slightly darker and moodier than in the bottle, as if somewhere in the midst of that frozen wasteland there was still a hint of barren earth peeking out.

Dry (about an hour after application): Mellowed out version of when wet... stays very true to the original scent.

Verdict: I love Beth's minty scents, and this one is no exception.

ETA: Getting a horrid sinus headache, I am pretty sure Nuclear Winter is the culprit. I will have to try it again in a few days, but I think it's related to that barren earthiness I am getting from it.

  10. YUM.

In the bottle: Beth perfectly nailed that sweet, minty, slightly vanilla candy cane scent perfectly. This is positively AMAZING!

Wet: So terribly hard to resist nibbling on my wrist... this is utterly perfect in every way.

Dry (about an hour after application): it has faded a bit, mellowed out more and is still divine (I barely put a drop on, I am sure it would still be stronger if I'd put as much as I normally do on).

This is such a perfect scent. I think I may need to get at least one more bottle before it's gone. :P

  11. I don't really get the buttery aspect that others have from Snowblind, but it is a positively creamy, light vanilla mint. Whilt is feels slightly chilly on, it is very smooth as opposed to being a crisp and harsh mint. It is positively yummy and I so terribly hope I end up getting a bottle of this with the Naughty and Nice Inquisition because I can see myself wearing this frequently. :P

  12. Wow.

I was totally expecting something dark and clovey and musky and expected this to totally hate me, but it is sweet and playful and boozy but not in the sense I expected it to be. Drying down a bit of the clove is peeking out, but it's not very dominant at all.

I'm almost sad that I never did get a bottle of this beautiful scent, but I will certainly cherish the imps I have of it. :P

  13. CCCXXXIV - Wow, a bright, sunny floral.  Definitely a pink/yellow scent for me.  I'm not very good at identifying specific notes without a description, but I'll do my best.  Magnolia, rose, lily maybe?  There might be a little jasmine in there too.  It's very feminine and perfumey, quite lovely.

QueenFae and I swapped CT2 bottles (my DXLII for her CCCXXXIV). This is a very bright, slightly sweet floral. It's quite light and summery, perfect for the hot weather we've been having. I can't pick out any specific floral notes either, but it's what a bouquet of mixed summery flowers smells like from across the room. It's very lovely, indeed... and while I am normally not much of a flowery person, I can see myself wearing this frequently. :P

  14. In the bottle: soft, sweet vanilla. Much gentler than the Vanilla Bean single note, akin to a honeyed vanilla as opposed to a straight vanilla.

Wet, on skin: Slightly floral undertones mixed in with the sweet vanilla, with a faint hint of what could be a pale amber or musk.

Drying down, about 15 minutes after application: Soft and delicate, like a freshly washed fuzzy blanket, still warm from the dryer on a cool night.

Overall impressions: Very comforting and soothing... to the point where this may just replace Dragon's Milk as my comfort scent (or at least be a very close second to it).

  15. Chaos Theory 2, DXXIX (529)

In the bottle: sweet, slightly fruity, more sugary with a hint of mint.

Wet, on skin: still sweetly fruity, but minty too... not peppermint, I am thinking possibly spearmint, but it's too faint to tell.

Drying down, about 15 minutes later: something a bit powdery is coming out slowly. So far still mostly sweet, with a distinct spearmint edge to it.

Overall thoughts: I am normally more of a peppermint person, but this has a lovely crispness and coolness to it. I think it will be great for super-hot days, and I may try it again later as the heat index here is supposed to be around 105°F.

  16. I only ordered two SiA scents (Miskatonic U. and Cthulhu), and both were for Chris, but I am keeping Miskatonic U. for myself. :D

In the bottle: almost sickly sweet syrupy Irish creme scent.

Wet, on skin: the coffee comes out a bit, and mellows out the Irish creme beautifully. I used to drink coffee with Baileys in it every morning (eh... I was a lush, ok? :D ), and this is exactly how it smelled.

Drying down, about 15 minutes: The dustiness of the old books is making an appearance now... as if I'd stopped in a used book store in the morning on my way to work, back when I was drinking my coffee and Baileys.

Overall thoughts: I :P this one! I think it'll be perfect for the fall when the weather is crisp and cool, on those days when I crave my long since abandoned coffee and Baileys.

  17. Chaos Theory 2 DXLII (542)

In the bottle: slightly sweet, creamy, almost reminiscent of far off gummi sharks when the odd marshmallowy stuff on the bottoms.

Wet: still sweet and creamy, but with something dark and woodsy mixed in. Someone went on a hike in the woods and dropped their gummy sharks in a patch of recently dug up by a wild animal earth.

Drying down, about 15 minutes after application: the gummy sharks are being trampled on, buried in the loose earth, crushed under twigs and assorted wildflowers that haven't yet bloomed.

Drying down, about 30 minutes after application: the wildflowers have bloomed, overtaking everything else. They are very faint, almost just a lingering scent memory from the walk in the woods.

I don't know if it's something in this bottle, but I felt fine when I applied it, and have since returned to the nauseous, queasy, killer sinus headachey state I was in yesterday. I think I will try this again in a week or so to see if I get the same reaction. If so, it'll be getting swapped because I am not fond of random sinus headaches spurred on my my perfume. :P

I shall review my second CT2 at a later time.

  18. The grey and ghostly flower that fills the fields of Hades.

In the vial: slightly sweet, light flowers. I know I have smelled this before, it is a very familiar scent, but I just can't place it right this second.

Wet: beautiful light flowers, with a hint of sweetness intermingled. I *know* this flower. I just wish I could remember it... it is so amazingly lovely. :P

  19. A play of geological darkness and jagged brilliance. Soft and luminescent with flashes of black fire.

In the vial: Very soft, and light, to the point where I can barely notice it... either my nose is very, very stuffed up, or this is so delicate that it really is this light smelling.

On my skin, it is also very light, and I could almost swear I smell vanilla and a hint of coconut. But I could be totally off with this one.

I am going to reapply after showering (I now have roughly 6 or 7 different BPAL blends on, so my nose could just have stopped working)... and I will update this review ASAP. :P

    EDIT:

Freshly showered, sinuses mostly cleared up, I am still getting a very light, pale sort of scent from this, even with having slathered quite a bit on me. Definitely vanilla, not too sure about the coconut now, though. A hint of something dark, but what I have no idea. It's totally lovely, even with it being as light as it is. I have only had it on a few minutes and I really have to sniff close to smell it.

  20. The enemy of God, also named Iblis, He Who Despaired of the Mercy of God. Al-Shairan is the leader of the Jinn, a tempter who whispers false suggestions to men enticing them into evil and perfidious acts, and is the sworn enemy of all of Adam’s children. His scent is fiery, bright and thick with sweet sinfulness: clove, peach and orange with cinnamon, patchouli and dark incense notes.

In the vial: cinnamon, clove and orange with dark undertones.

Wet: cinnamon red hot candies... spicey, slightly sweet.

After about 10 minutes: The clove is very light on me, and the cinnamon is intense, but not burning my skin like most cinnamon scents do. There's a bit of a darker undertone to it, but it's not very noticable to my stuffed up nose.

I didn't think I'd like this one because of the clove, but so far it's light enough that it's not bothering me. I will have to try it on Chris later, though, as he'd be more likely to wear this than I would.
