    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

I'm going to post an updated version of my spreadsheet later today. :-) Oh, what you need to do to fix that is right click, go to "paste special" and paste it as "text." (I think it's text, anyway, can't recall off the top of my head. If "text" doesn't work just try one of the other options, one of them is it, lol!) My options are "HTML", "Unicode Text", and "Text". I tried them all and none of them did the trick. Thank you very much for the update! Well, another thing you can do is select the cell, but don't paste right away; click the box at the top where you would type text manually to input it. Once you have the flashing cursor in the box, try hitting paste? Tell me if that works...

Spreadsheet has been updated for Kindly Moon; the row is at the bottom of the file if you wanna C&P over. It's only one scent though, lol. http://www.nattiechan.com/BPAL_spreadsheet.shtml If you have any trouble accessing that page, please let me know. It was acting weird a few days ago.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

After only a five month hiatus, I have updated the BPAL Spreadsheet. ^^; Beth is up to 945 scents now! You can find it here: http://www.nattiechan.com/BPAL_spreadsheet.shtml Besides adding all the new LE and GC scents, the following changes have been made: - I got rid of the Gender column; this information is usually not even available, and pretty much everything is either feminine or neutral. I may add it back in later and just make specific notes for masculine. - Added all the Unreleased scents listed in the BPAL review forums. - Added a number of LEs that were missing, including Convergence and Forum scents, plus just old ones I somehow missed before. - A lot of reorganization. A Little Lunacy is now listed as Limited Edition: A Little Lunacy. All other LEs that were in their own page on the website for a while are now listed as Limited Edition: (Name of that Line), i.e. Limited Edition: A Demon In My View. - Changed a bunch of past LEs to Discontinued. - Many more names of scents were able to be linked to forum reviews. If there is a forum review up, the scent name will be linked to it. - A lot of the GCs got moved into other categories. In light of all this, if you want to update to this version of the spreadsheet it will probably be a pain in the ass; there's no real easy way to do it. What did I do? Well, I sorted both by scent name and just manually copied all my stuff over. That can be really annoying, I had a couple hundred comments I needed to copy, but there you go. If you do that, don't forget to copy over the other tabs for buying, selling, and swapping (if you use them). If you're just getting started and don't have a spreadsheet, this should be helpful. If anything is confusing just read the notes on the website, it should clear things up. Thanks to arcadia for her help!

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

Hey guys! Sorry, I kind of got caught up with real life, and due largely in part to lack of money I had to ignore BPAL for a while, lol. I will hopefully have a job and a little disposable income soon, so of course I've come crawling back. (Isn't that face creepy?) I would like to update the spreadsheet again with every new scent that has come out since I quit updating it -- 4/12/06 -- but, well, I don't have the information for all those scents, especially the LEs that are no longer listed on the website. If anyone could help me out with that I'll try and have an updated spreadsheet up soon. It's cool to know that people still use it, or a variation of it. :-)

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

I have no idea about opening the spreadsheet in anything but Excel. From the sounds of it, it doesn't work, and I don't know that there's anything I can do to fix it anyway. :-/ In better news, though, the spreadsheet IS updated: http://www.nattiechan.com/BPAL_spreadsheet.shtml The rows for the new stuff are at the bottom for easy C&P into your existing file. TAKE NOTE, however, that if you want to do the C&P you need to change Ligeia from Bewitching Brews to Maelstrom on your own, and you will have to manually change all LEs except Sleepy Moon to discontinued. Enjoy!

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

You're very welcome! I've often tried to figure out a way to make my spreadsheet able to do what you've described, but I've come up with few ideas. The only thing I can think of is in the section where I suggested you write whether or not you've tried it, or ordered, etc, is that you can come up with a new tag like "Problematic" and sort the spreadsheet by that? That way, you'll see all the problematic scents listed together and you can check out the notes.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

I forgot to mention here a few days ago, but the spreadsheet has been updated: http://www.nattiechan.com/bpal_spreadsheet.shtml To whomever asked... updating to a new version of the spreadsheet *is* problematic, and I've tried to think of ways people can do it without losing their notes. There isn't an easy answer. One thing I've done is the updates are at the very bottom of the new file. This means you can just zoom to the end and copy and paste those rows into your spreadsheet, then sort the sheet again. One issue, however, is that this update includes links to a lot of different scents that previously did not have review pages on the forum. My suggestion for getting that information into your own file would be this: copy and paste the new rows into your file, sort each file using an identical setting, then go down the scent names on your file. When you see a scent that isn't linked to a review, go to the corresponding row number (they should be the same now) on the updated spreadsheet, then copy and paste the cell to your file. Example: I copy and paste the new row into my personal spreadsheet. I sort the blank spreadsheet by the area column, then the name column. I sort my own spreadsheet by the area column, then the name column. I scroll down my personal spreadsheet until I see an unlinked scent, say Undertow, on row 127. (I picked a random number for the example, I don't know what number it is.) I then return to the blank spreadsheet, scroll to row 127 which should also be Undertow, copy its linked cell that says Undertow, return to my spreadsheet, and paste it over the unlinked cell. So on down the list. I keep my spreadsheet with my own notes separate from the blank version, so that's what I have to do. I hope that made sense! This update has nearly every scent with a linked review page now, so while updating to the new version may seem like a lot of work, you won't have to do that with those scents again in the future.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

BIG update to the BPAL spreadsheet... In addition to listing every BPAL scent ever and all its information (as always, let me know if anything is missing), there are three new worksheets for managing your inventory, which are as follows: Selling: This is the spreadsheet I use to manage all my sales, and it's a big reason why I've never had any problems forgetting to send anything. If I didn't have it, God knows what would happen. ;-) It has columns for the date of the sell (I use the date they actually paid), their name, their forum or LJ name (linked to their actual journal or profile), their e-mail address, their address, how much they paid me, what I'm to send them, the USPS tracking number for their package, whether or not they've received it (I check the tracking numbers daily), and the most useful part... ... a column that generates an e-mail to send to them that includes what they ordered, what their tracking number is, and a link to the tracking number page. Look at the cell and you'll see what to edit to customize the message. This makes it EXTREMELY easy for me to keep people updated on everything because as soon as I come home from the post office, I just enter the tracking number in the spreadsheet, copy and paste that one little cell, and shoot them an e-mail. It takes like, two seconds, it's great, and I hope you guys find it useful. Buying: Same premise, includes columns for the date you paid, the name of the seller, their LJ/forum name, their e-mail address, how much you paid them, what you ordered from them, the tracking number if they give you one, and whether or not you've received it. If I didn't use this spreadsheet, I really think I may be out some money if people forgot to sell me stuff, lol. Swapping: Same premise, includes columns for the date the swap was initiated, their real name, LJ/forumn name, e-mail address, physical address, what you're sending them, what they're sending you, tracking numbers for both of you if applicable, whether each of you has received their end of the swap, and again, an e-mail generator for when you've shipped their package. In addition, I've changed the Status column to the more descriptive "Availability," and added a new column called "Status" that you put whether you've ordered something, tested and liked something, tested and disliked something, etc, and now the Comments column is just for specific comments you have on the scent. I've also added in all the Naughty & Nice oils, and changed all the anniversary and fall scents to discontinued. I've also added Bess after being told it was missing. The BPAL spreadsheet is available at http://www.nattiechan.com. The webpage hasn't yet been updated to indicate this, but the file is the current version. Phew! Please enjoy, and lemme know if anything is messed up.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

Thank you so much, your post was very informative. I'm going to go try and find that book now, since I've been wanting reading material on this stuff for some time. I'm going to try a bunch of the other books you recommended too! Thanks again.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

Nattie quoted this and someone else mentioned it earlier. Just wanted to mention that negative effects of applying pure EO's to the skin may not be immediately or readily apparent...but rather, it is a cumulative build-up effect which can prove toxic to the body in other forms: later liver, blood damage, later occuring allergies etc. Just wanted to let you know, that it may not seem to have negative effects immediately, doesn't mean they aren't affecting you internally....and like I said, it's mostly a cumulative effect. Then I really would like an official answer on this... :-/

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

I just read this entire thread because I was wondering the same thing as many of you: if they are undiluted (or even high concentration) essential oils, then why is okay to put them directly on the skin? Because, like a lot of other people, I've always read that you really shouldn't put them directly on your skin (although I've never had a problem doing it anyway). Just to clarify, I don't doubt that they are completely safe, I just don't understand why that is. I don't have any weird allergies and I don't care if something is synthetic and I don't need to know, but I wish there was an official response on this just to satisfy my curiousity. So all we can figure is that... 1. Some blends might be partially diluted in carrier oil. 2. There are non-synthetics that aren't essential oils, like attars and absolutes and all that jazz. This could be one reason they're not "100% oil," or one reason why they're safe to apply directly to skin, or both. Did I get that right? Am I missing something? I'm a little confused.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

I spent the last several days making a BPAL Excel spreadsheet with all the scent lines, the scents they contain with links to the reviews, the full description from the site, an abbreviated description that includes only the component smells mentioned in the long description, the gender of the smell (blank means feminine), its status (blank means active), and then a blank column called "Notes." You can read more about it, see a screenshot, and download it by viewing the LJ entry in the blackalchemylab community here: http://www.livejournal.com/community/alche...58800#t15058800 The above link lists several tips for using the spreadsheet as well. I hope some of you guys can find it useful. :-) Feel free to e-mail me personally (Natalie.Bates@gmail.com) with questions, ideas, comments, etc.
