Voleuse

I get aquatic florals and melon on first application, sweet and watery and clean. This has a lot of throw on me, and it's delicious.

As it dries, the florals become more pronounced, but the overall tone of the blend stays juicy and sweet. The aquatics give it a pale turquoise feel, which is interesting. I like this.

Moonflower always, always creates night blends on me, pale and cool and gleaming. That's exactly what I get on first application, though soon the blend becomes a fine balance between ozone and jasmine.

After a while, however, the scale tips to ozone quite strongly, with a sweet background of floral notes. This is really pretty, but the strong ozone makes me want to sneeze.

This is fascinating. On first application, it's soft jasmine, but as it dries, it morphs into sandalwood and rose. Wow!

After a while, it fades to rose and jasmine, with an added touch of musk and the other floral notes behind it. It kind of gives me a headache at the very end, but the journey there is lovely.

This is all ylang ylang and jasmine on me, perfectly balanced. It's cool and pale and a little sweet. It fades very quickly on me, becoming slightly powdery as it disappears, but I do like it. It's soft, and rather calming.

On first application this is strong cardamom and earthy patchouli. It's spicy and sweet and very demanding. As it dries, it becomes more bearable, and much earthier. There's a dirt note I didn't detect before, and a bit of dry sandalwood as well. I don't get anything else, however--there are definitely no floral or mandarin notes on my skin.

This is a gorgeous blend, dominant and delicious, but it's much too strong for my tastes.

On first application, this is sweet, sugared lemon. As it dries, I catch hints of rosemary and sage, as well as an incense note I assume is the myrrh. It's warm and invigorating.

After a while, however, the incense note goes wonky on me. It smells a little musky, and it clashes unpleasantly with the dominant lemon. Not strongly, but enough that I find it disconcerting.

In the bottle and on first application, this is a heady masculine scent, a gorgeous combination of leather and evergreen--two of my favorite BPAL notes! As it dries, the patchouli and the cinnamon appear as well, adding spice to the overall blends. This is damn sexy.

After a while, the cedar becomes the predominant note, making this a dry and spicy blend, warm and woodsy. It actually skirts the edge of too woodsy--I get a definite hint of wood chips and dust--but somehow, it still works. Definitely a keeper!

This is another aquatic floral on me, very feminine, very delicate, but less sweet than others like it. The carnation is the predominant note on first application, but the overall blend disappears almost immediately. What I'm left with is carnation-scented powder, pleasant and long-lasting, but negligible.

The dandelion leaps out of the vial on this one, though it's a little sweeter than the dandelions I've smelled in real life. I get a faint whiff of booze, but otherwise, it's all greenery. As it dries, I start to smell the dryness of tobacco and hemp.

I like this scent quite a bit--it reminds me of when my family used to drive cross-country, stopping in the middle of nowhere to gas up and grab a burger. This is a sunny scent, and not altogether pretty, but it fits the description perfectly. This is another bottle I'd snag for nostalgia's sake.

Someone has a bottle of Holiday Moon up on eBay, complete with picture. The little fu-dog is adorable! I wasn't able to pick up the T-shirt, but I'm glad the picture is on the bottle. I can't wait for my bottle to arrive! Kudos to Macha, yet again.

I'm not sure what neroli is, but I'm guessing it's the predominant note in this blend, as most of the other notes are florals I know, and this is definitely not one of them. It's floral, but edging towards herbal, and there's something musky in it that isn't musk. (This review is all contradiction, really.) After a while, I get hints of the other floral notes, but they never bloom.

This evokes a warm afternoon, spent whirling and laughing and singing, and by the time it's over, any perfume donned has faded to an echo. I don't think this is a scent for me, but I think it fits very well with the description.

This is sharp and white on first application, the lime lending it a jagged edge. It's an incredibly well-blended scent--I have difficulty identifying the individual components, even though I get the effects of each. The sharpness of citrus, the cool of mint, the dust of lavender, the masculinity of vetiver. None of them is distinguished from the other, but they're all definitely there.

This is a masculine scent, though a light one. It's barely floral, and very addictive. I can't stop sniffing my arm!

On first application, this is a little sweet, a little bitter, and a lot waxy. Even after it dries, all I get is something smelling faintly like the fruits of the description. It's as if I'm sniffing paper that's been colored with scented markers. Huh.

On first application, this is sweet and creamy. I think there's honey, as well as a light floral note. It's quite delicate on me, however, and I'm having trouble identifying the individual notes. As it dries, it gets a little spicier.

After a while, however, it morphs into an odd, Play-Doh sort of smell. Blah.

This is sweet and fresh on first application, a forest garnished with fruity notes. As it dries, I start to get light floral notes, bright and delicate. This is beautiful!

Truth be told, however, the florals made me sneeze on first appearance. I really like this scent, but sinuses don't.

On first application, this is warm and spicy, cinnamon evident but not overpowering. As it dries, it mellows somewhat, the spices giving way to a lovely sweetness. The sweetness, however, also fades away, leaving a dry and musky note behind. Quite evocative, but ultimately not something I'd wear.

This is super-floral on first impression, budding roses and surrounding greenery. It's soft and fresh, but verdant instead of feminine, to my nose. As it dries, I get a bit of sweet pea, but then it goes completely to soap on me. Fancy, expensive soap, but soap nonetheless.

On first application, this is sandalwood, sweet lemon, and the ghost of lavender. It's smoldering, but comfortable as well. As it dries, I start to smell a bit of the frankincense, but no vetiver at all.

After a while, it fades quite a bit, but it's overall a warm and shadowy sort of scent. I really, really like it. It's not masculine, but it leans in that direction, and there's an overall smoothness that works beautifully.

I'm always startled by the bright red of Dragon's Blood. It looks more sharply red than it smells, I think. The scent itself is warm, but it's haloed, if that makes any sense. It's a little like jasmine on me, a little like resin, but not either of those things. As it dries, the sweetness becomes more potent, more smoky. It's not a strong scent, but it lingers and pervades. Lovely. Fascinating.

This is sweet and herbal on first application, a cottage garden in the sunshine. The lavender is predominant on first sniff, with a sharp burst of citrus behind it. As it dries, I can smell the verbena and thyme. Over time, this actually gets more citrusy on me, and lemon instead of orange. It's quite sharp, and though I don't get the mint at all, it's an invigorating sort of scent.

I'm a huge fan of Freak Show and 13, so when I noticed the forum reviews comparing them to this, I was thrilled.

On first application, I smell cocoa and tobacco, with a hint of mandarin in the background. The chocolate note is a little powdery, but as the oil dries, the mandarin blooms sharply, balancing out the powder perfectly. After a while, the overall blend mellows, and I think I start to smell the musk, though it's subdued. The chocolate and orange are dominant throughout, and the tea only makes a vague appearance. A long while later, however, the scent completely morphs into weak, lemony tea. Huh.

This is absolute incense on me, warm and slightly sweet. As it dries, it becomes a damp, woodsy scent, with sunlight weaving through the trees.

The scent ends up being all cedar on me. I suspect resins and amber, but I can't pin them down. It's a little spicy and very warm. Pretty!

The ozone wafts out even when I open the vial. It's not strong, really, but it's pronounced, and very reminiscent of the air before a storm. As it dries, however, it turns to dryer sheets on me, powdery and aquatic. It makes me want to sneeze.

On first application, this is a sweet almond oil, strong and boozy. It's definitely a warm scent, but the alcohol is a little overpowering at first. As it dries, however, it fades into a faintly sweet liqueur, and I definitely smell the honey mead. It's nice, but I'm not one for very boozy scents.

On first application, this is pumpkin bread and apple cider, except from a distance. There are floral overtones to this, but it comes off as very foody on me.

As the scent dries, it becomes smoke and buttery cornbread, and a wisp of dry florals. It's a nice scent, but I think I prefer the 2005 version to this one.
