  1. First whiff: Oh no. This scent is already right up my alley. Myrrh, woodsy, a little heavy, herbal, what I call a "sticky scent", which means... it stays, it lasts, it grabs a hold of you, and doesn't let go. Even with the imp closed and none ON me, I can still smell it around me. This is a huge bonus point for me when it comes to scents.

On (still wet): My chemistry has really locked on to that Myrrh, but... now I smell something.... fruity? Almost cherry-like? I don't know much about storax, I don't think I've ever even smelled it, so maybe that's where the fruity hints are coming from? The balsam may be helping create that, too. Not sure though. But it's really pleasing.

Dry down: Ahh, just as I suspected (and hoped). 'Anubis' has really hung on. The scent hasn't changed much, except that it's lightened up, but... that magical Myrrh (and fruity scent) is still very much there. I don't need to do a re-ap (and it's been about an hour). I even had a friend ask me what I was wearing. I told her, and she said, "It's really pretty and feminine." - but I told her about Anubis, and she said, "I wouldn't have thought such a beautiful scent would have such a dark description!"

    LOL!

'Anubis' is a keeper! 5ml please! STAT!! :P

  2. In the imp: Sweet, sweet roses, and even sweeter lotus blossom. This, is the sweetest rose-hinted scent I've ever experienced. It smells like the rose garden around by the waterfront out this way. The smell there is overwhelmed by roses... and they're so fresh and sweet as they mix with the misty air.

Wet (on): A very fruity-rose scent. I can smell the lotus, but it seems to really be mixing with the rose, playing with it, and turning it very fruity sweet! How odd! And yet... how neat!!

Drydown (on): Still VERY rosey, but not as sweet. But I still love it. I'm not a huge fan of rose scents, but this one is really winning me over.

Closing thoughts: Feminine beyond feminine. A rose scent I am actually VERY pleased with. People who like sweet tea roses scents... will love this blend. I will wear this again, and may buy a larger bottle.

  3. Frost Moon... how I :P thee.

This is EXACTLY what I hoped and prayed 'Frost Moon' would smell like. Frosty, minty, cool, fresh, clean, and... a little floral. Just a wee bit. Even though it seemed like a light scent in the bottle, once it was on my skin, it really changed. It became much stronger, much richer, and downright alluring.

    Best of all...

It reminds me very much of an incense I used to burn called 'Snow Fall'. A long time ago, Pier One used to carry a line of incense that was not their own brand... and I loved every one of those scents. When 'Snow Fall' was discontinued, I was heart broken. 'Frost Moon' is 'Snow Fall', in a bottle. I am SO happy!!!

Why oh why must I fall head over heels for the limited edition scents?

    :D

  4. EGG NOG
Sweet brandy, dark rum, heavy cream, sugar, and a dash of nutmeg.

Oh, Mama. This one is DEAD ON ACCURATE. I am madly obsessed with Egg Nog. For me, the Holidays wouldn't be the same without it. And a good batch of Egg Nog has a scent to it that is equally as appealing as the taste.

And BPAL's limited edition masterpiece has that scent... the smell of the perfect batch of Egg nog, served up in an antique crystal and gold trimmed goblet. Brimming over with spice, rum, sugary goodness, and oh, oh, oh... that BRANDY. It really leaps out at me and my happy little nose!

That's my 'First Whiff' experience. Now *on* gets even better...

After some dry down time, the rum is really prominent. But it's accented by the nutmeg and the brandy. It's so sweet and subtle. Warm. Inviting. Almost... alluring. I can't believe I'm wearing an "Egg Nog" scented oil! It's downright delightful and so far, it's really holding. The spice of this scent gets better and better with my body warmth, too.

About 30 minutes later: It's still going fairly strong. Much of the other notes had faded off, but that rum is still there. Sweet, sweet rum. I couldn't resist... I HAD to do a re-app, just so I could sniff the contents of the bottle again. I decanted some straight to an imp, and am applying from that so that I can really slather it on now.

I hate Holiday shopping, and so I have decided this is going to be my "Holiday Shopping Blues Pick-Me-Up" scent. It does the trick!

  5. *Le happy content sigh*

I have NEVER smelled such a FANTASTIC rose scent in all my life!

I haven't been very big on rose scents because I have so many, and many of them smell alike to me, and my skin seems to eat them alive.

But this one...WOW. It's brisk, it's wet, it's fresh and alive! It smells exactly like the description says: the perfect winter rose. Dew covered, and freshly cut.

It's exactly what I imagine a 'winter rose' would smell like. Smelling it both in the bottle and on my skin, gives me this image of a fairy tale type scenario where I've stumbled upon a single rose blossom poking out in the crystal white snow. It's almost like... hope in a bottle. I mean, what says hope more than a flower blooming in the dead of winter??

I have to say that from first whiff from the bottle, I was in love. Of course, my skin changed the scent a bit - dulling it down, and taking away that glorious fresh, wet rose smell, but still! And for once, my chemistry didn't eat those rose-based scent. It just lasts and lasts. Amazing.

  6. What a chameleon of a scent this is for me! My chemistry just can't seem to decide what it wants to do with it. Which is kind of amusing, and delightful. I'm really quite pleased.

And for me, there is nothing sinister about this scent at all. It's very a very 'springtime' type of scent (IMHO), and it's so sweet and fresh, that the last place it makes me think of is 'Whitechapel' (been there, and frankly, if it smelled like this oil, I wouldn't have wanted to get out of the area so bad).

One word for this scent: ALIVE.

    First time wearing the scent:

First sniff: I can smell every hint mentioned in it's description - everything is noticeable, especially the lime and the lilac. But, the lime is the most over powering of the hints.

On: Hmm. This scent smells very much like 'June Gloom' on my skin. The lime is leaping out! But it's nice, because a good citrus scent is always a bonus for me.

About an hour later: Now, the scent has worn down to mostly just a nice, faint lilac smell, which again, I have no problem with. Lilacs are my favorite flowers. But boy, I can REALLY smell the lilac now! It took time for it to take over, and it was worth the wait!

    Second time wearing the scent:

Right off the bat, my skin brought out the lilac more than any other note, and it totally drowned out much of the other notes. How odd. Wearing this has been kind of like digging into a bag of "Bertie Bot's Every Flavor Beans" - LOL! The second time I wore this scent, it hardly changed at all on me - all but to wear down with time. It was ALL about the lilac, so I wonder what the third time will bring me :D

    :P ing it!

  7. Mmm. This one is a keeper.

Orange, sweet and fruity, a little spice. Very warm and inviting. As far as a 'Sun' scent goes, this one is dead on. It has a very 'out on a warm summer afternoon' kind of feel to it for me. And yet, as it wears down, it almost has a very inviting evening type scent to it. I think of the "Sun" card from the Thoth deck when I imagine a Tarot card to go with this one. All the warm light, and sunbeams... the brightness, and the joy.

    Gorgeous.

  8. This came as a freebie with my last order.

Fresh. Clean. Water-floral. With a green hint... pine? Yes! I think I do smell pine! This seems like a very bright, yet complex scent. I like it! The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't last on my skin. Most of the more watery-floral scents don't.

  9. Limited Edition:

    Winter 2003 (re-released this month!)

I have this obsession with holiday-type scents. My favorites are Yule/Christmas scents. Pine needles. Berries. Spices. Cookies. Wintery goodness. And this scent is downright amazing as far as Holiday scents go. Here in Buffalo, we get buried in snow, and I end up desperate for good, full bodied scents to wear and scent my home with. It helps chase the winter blues away.

There's no mention of pine or of mistletoe in the scent description - or any mention of spices, but, aside from the Holly Berry hints, I SWEAR I smell pine and some spice! And, I love it! It's so fresh, crisp, and clean. Out of the bottle it's ALIVE with Yule! On my skin, it dulls down to mostly just this juicy berry scent.

I can't WAIT to get my hands on the 5ml I ordered from the recent Yule update!!!!!!!

  10. You know, I don't think there's any actual way to know when orders are 'harvested'. Sometimes, the funds from my account don't actually end up 'charged' till weeks later after I place the order. Sometimes, the funds are 'charged' in a few days. I just got charged for my Yule order. Anything I ordered after that appears to not have been 'charged' but the status on CCnow is still showing up as "shipped".

I think it all depends on how busy the lab is. I honestly have no idea.

  11. VERY interesting! I'm a HUGE fan of 'Darkness' and 'Noir' and this is very much like those for me. Woody. Dark. Lush. It's what I call a 'parlour' scent.

In the bottle: Hmm. VERY woody. Not so peppery. Strong!

On my skin: YAY! It dulled down and my skin really brought out the - and it smells woooooooooonderful. Rich, and warm. And it has serious lasting power. It's so... spicy. But not hot spicy, I mean that warm, nutmeggy (is that a word?), Chai kind of spicy.

An hour later: It's worn down to being mostly woody now, but I like that, so I am very pleased. This one is a 5ml for SURE.

    I... am... in... LOVE!!! :P

  12. When I decant perfumes, I always use a new pipette and new vial (reusing the pipette only, if I'm doing multiple imps of the same scent in the same day).

But I've heard (i think?) that sometimes other people reuse old containers.  I wouldn't really have any qualms about doing that for an imp that I'm planning on keeping for myself.

Ditto. It's the best way to decant. I'm glad others do the same as well :P

I do however re-use imp vials for my own use. I soak them in isopropal alcohol - which cleans them quite perfectly.

  13. thanks to friendthegirl, i'm wearing burial layered with zombi. zombi was a bit too light and flowery for me, but burial should give it some oomph.

    Hijack:

You know, Zombi was on my 'not liking it' list of scents. But I layered it with Burial, and... I :D you gals who came up with this combo!!! It's perfect on me now, and I am so happy that a scent I was not very happy with, is now being used... a lot!

    :P

  14. Well, I'd like to wear Samhain on Halloween, but I'm not sure it will be here in time. Has anyone gotten a click-n-ship for the LE's yet???

I got one. I'm pretty sure it's for the LE's, too. I have my fingers and toes crossed that they'll be here in time because since I have been madly obsessing over making sugar skulls, I'd really like to WEAR 'Sugar Skull'.

*Bouncing up and down with joy*

    *Hope hope hope*

But I've been wearing Jack a lot the last few days. And if the LE's don't make it in time, I'll either have him or Three Witches on (like I said before, depending on the costume).

    Edited for my crappy spelling.

  15. I concur, that was a good post.  Now I just need to figure out how to get those pesky reducer caps off since my Queen of Spades just gushes out of the stupid reducer anyway... :P

I remove the reducers with a pair of 'bottle nose' jewelry pliers. Gently. Haven't damaged a reducer, or a bottle yet. Give it a go. Just don't use big, clumsy hardware pliers. Those are bad news for this kind of job.

  16. I've been dealing with a lot of pressure at work, and I would really like to wear something that might help diffuse tense situations without putting me to sleep.

Which are your favorite chill-the-fuck-out blends?

My 'chill the f**k out blends' are in the 'Voodoo' blends section:

    - GOONA GOONA

    - HIGH JOHN the CONQUEROR

    - WATER of NOTRE DAME

    - AUNT CAROLINE'S JOY MOJO

If not, then SNAKE OIL, O, or the sweeter, more soothing 'foody' scents may be worth a go.

    :P

  17. The Lab has for all intents and purposes stopped combining orders. I had one on the 15th, one the 16th and while both packages arrived on the same day they were in seperate boxes.

    *Nod*

I put 2 orders in on the 16th. So far, one has arrived, one has not. And things are a bit out of order (time line wise) as far as my orders go, but they're getting here and that's all I care about :P

I think it was just too confusing to try combining them.

  18. Anyhow, good luck on your 10/10 deadline.  I hope you have a wonderful time with it.

Thanks hun. It's for a very special 'memorial' type of ceremony for the one year anniversay of my Mom's passing. We've been planning, and really working to make it nice. It's Jewish tradition to have what's called an "Unveiling" one year later, and my Father is Jewish. My Mom and him talked a long time ago about how they both wanted that tradition to be upheld, even though my Mom was Catholic. So the oil is going to be incorperated into the ceremony - the women I'm working with found a beautiful way to use it.

  19. I'm waiting on a reply to emails I sent a few days ago. I'm wondering if everything is ok, considering I had to 8/16 orders, and only one arrived, my 'Harvest Moon' oil didn't make it in time for the full moon, and, a special oil I spoke to Beth about hasn't arrived yet, and the event I need it for is October 10th. I was wondering if maybe my emails are getting lost, or if the lab is just really backed up?

  20. I have an imp of this scent - it came as a freebie with an order. And... I think it's oddly delightful. It reminds me of the tomato plants in our garden. They always grow so big and strong... and, we harvest such beautiful tomatos from them every summer. The BPal scent brings me right back to those good memories. I've worn it a few times, too. It seems to fade off real fast on me, but, when I'm in a REALLY 'green' mood... it's the greatest scent ever :P

    -Leslie

  21. Yes, this scent is INTOXICATING...  Yuuuuum...

Cegirls hit it right on the head.

INTOXICATING. Fruity, sugary, sweet... but in a bad girlkind of way. Candy-fruity, like the smell of a lollipop that you've been sucking on for a while. Warm. RED. For me, this is a a club scent. It'll be the first one I slather on the next time I go out to the club (not the bar, big difference in bar scents, and club scents, IMO).

The best thing about this scent? My chemistry didn't change it much at all, other then fade it down with time. It stayed alive, and I could smell it on me the entire time I had it on.

I'll be sad when this scent is all gone. It's what I wanted Hollywood Babylong to smell like. I adore HB, but, Formula 54 is more *me* then HB. The bottle and the wax tag really made this one special.

    -Leslie

  22. *Swoon*

    Decadence. Is... decadent. Gorgeous.

First whiff: Cinamon! One of my all time favorite notes. I think I detect some citrus overtones, too. Rich, yet bright. VERY alluring.

On: My chemistry seems to be brining the citrus notes out more now, but it's not a 'house hold cleanser' kind of citrus. It's very Fruity-juicy. Staying power for sure! Big bonus in my book! It also seems to have an alcoholic-sangaria almost scent. It's almost like cider, but, more alcohlic I think.

A few hours later: Light, but still there. Can't really detect any cinamon anymore at all.

All in all? I'd get a 5ml of this in a heartbeat. It's going on my wishlist!!
