    Are bpal blends all-natural?

Interesting. I wonder how that blending could be done with candy scents though? I mean like candy corn, cake, stuff like that.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

Hiya I think I posted in the wrong thread before, oops! I am ok with fragrance oils and love bpal, so I'm just curious here As far as I know a scent such as strawberry must be a fragrance oil and not an essential oil because it isn't possible... so I am assuming bpal is natural per say, but that it does use fragrance oils in addition to essential oil...?

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

When the Lab uses a note that obviously isn't a readily extractable essential oil (like strawberry, brimstone, cotton candy, soil, leather, metal, certain florals) or one that's animal based like musk or civet, but is inhumane to extract, it is my understanding that these notes are bouquets, meaning that they are combinations of natural plant based extracts that are intended to approximate or mimic the scent of something else. This thread, discussing different types of oils, might be helpful. Some of the other places this has been discussed in the past include the General Note discussion thread, the BPAL free for all questions thread, the Civet Discussion thread, the musks discussion thread (see in particular this post, with info from a class Beth taught) - if you search any of those threads for the word "bouquet" using the box at the lower left it should narrow the posts down for you. (Of course, just because something is natural instead of synthetic doesn't mean that people with sensitivities or allergies can automatically use it... everything that I am allergic to (per my doctor's diagnosis) is 100% natural; poison ivy and poison oak are natural too. So I can understand why the argument comes up, that someone with chemical sensitivities might be able to use BPAL perfumes as opposed to commercial scented products - but because so many people with chemical sensitivities seem to have immune systems on high, high alert, I don't think it would be safe for them to assume this. Anyone with a history of serious reactions to fragrance needs to be extremely careful with all fragrances.) Thanks! Sure, I understand the whole civet bouquet combo, and I understand that they can use different plant sources to blend to create fragrances. I don't think though that BPAL has ever said directly that they don't use fragrance oils? Have they ever said they have or haven't? I just want to know for sure so I don't give anyone the wrong answer.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

All natural? I'm a bit confused about if the oils are 100% natural. I see people saying they are, but I know - for instance - that strawberry isn't a natural oil, so therefore it must be synthetic. I don't really care either way honestly because I don't mind some synthetics and I love BPAL either way, but I don't think people should recommend it on the basis that it's all natural if that is misleading. Any ideas?

    Snow, Glass, Apples

I normally go for foody or spicy/musky scents so I wasn't sure this would work but I was wrong. Initially this is all about the snow and the apples and at this stage it is stunning! However, it doesn't last long on me (maybe 20 mins?) and then it moves on to an aquatic, clear, very pretty scent. Finally it settles into almost a mellow white floral and it seems like there was a small stage of vanilla but that could just be the base or something? However! I was sitting here about SIX hours after I applied it and all the sudden it "bloomed". I kept looking around me thinking what is that smell?? It was quite strong and and fresh and clean. I didn't think it could possibly be SGA but it was. And true to the story she dies and is reawakened and makes her presence known. Very cool.

    Love's Philosophy

Weird. I get absolutely no likeness to Underpants. They are completely different. This smells like wintergreen with a slight sweet creaminess underneath. Not really that impressed.

    Anactoria

    This reminds me of Geek.

    Privilege

This smells exactly like my grandmother's old Avon brand perfumes! The ones that would come in the weird-shaped glass bottles... I still go up in the attic sometimes and smell the empties after all these years. In any case, I really dislike this scent. It isn't something I would be remotely attracted to or want on my body.

    Black Moon

This moon reminds me of my night blooming jasmine plant that I would occationally get wafts of as I moved around the room. It's a lush, heady floral. I really don't get anything else besides the jasmine smell. Just a little dab created waves of scent that enveloped me and scented the air around me. It is quite lovely... but I'm not really sure when it would be an appropriate scent for me to wear. I feel like it should be worn by a priestess or pilgrim visiting a sacred shrine honoring a lunar goddess. But it is overkill in most circumstances for me to wear everyday.

    Chrysanthemum Moon

Lovely artwork! In the bottle it smells faintly herbal with a whiff of musk that reminds me of smut. I also detect a floral element. Wet on my skin everything is amped up and for a minute I think I won't like it because I hated smut. However after a minute it begins to mellow out and bloom... the harsh smut musky smell disapears to a smoother, rounder musk. The mum's come out and play mingled with a spicyness. It has a slight perfumey smell to me but in a good way. I love this scent. It is also very long lasting and I get gently waves of it as I move around. Actually I applied it last night and at the end of the day today I smell a creamy sweetness still on my wrist.

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

CCXLI - The Mysterious Scent Hmm..! Well, I feel a bit bummed reading all the glowing reviews because my chaos theory is just... well... strange. I can't even try and describe what is in this. I haven't smelled anything from BPAL even remotely related. To me it smells very much like the smell of Vitamin C tablets or Zinc tablets when you open a bottle. There is a musky quality but not like any musk I have smelled. It isn't sweet musk thats for sure. (This is from the bottle) Wet smells pretty similar - the strange scent of chewable multi-vitamins. (They always kind of made me ill when I had to eat them - sort of like puke scented). Honestly, I really would like to know what this odd note is. Maybe it is civet? I haven't smelled any bpal civet so I am unsure. I can't see this being a scent that many people would remotely like but it is an unusual scent that people might want to smell just to see what the deal is. Anyway, I'd like to sell this one or swap it out. (And get reviews so I can see what this stuff is)
