    Gluttony

Oh, wow...this put me in such a good mood today. Gluttony is a bountiful blend of sweets, with the chocolate and buttercream at the forefront, hazelnut and toffee just behind them, and the caramel peeking out every now and then. I don't notice any vanilla, hops, or pralines, though. This has average throw but it lasts for HOURS. I put it on around 9:00 this morning and can still smell it on my wrists 12 hours later with no touch-ups. This really was the perfect thing for my mood today at work; after each difficult customer all I had to do was sniff Gluttony to restore my sweet temperament.

    Van Van

In the imp and on my skin, this smells like tart lemon squares. After a few minutes on my skin, though, it started smelling more and more sour. I kept sniffing it, trying to figure out what it reminded me of -- then I went to work and started mopping the floors (yay for being the newbie...). This scent smelled almost exactly like the floor cleaner we have. It wasn't necessarily bad, didn't make me sick or anything, but it was too lemony and too sour on my skin for me to appreciate it. I didn't notice any voodoo action goin' on, even though this lasted for several hours.

    Blood

Mmm, I like Blood. It has excellent throw and lasts for several hours, even through a dish-washing episode. I still don't know dragon's blood or myrrh well enough to identify them, but I do know cherry and clove, and they both shine in this scent. Clove seems to be the heaviest note with darkly sweet cherry complementing it beautifully. It doesn't morph at all from imp to skin, which pleases me very much.

    Thalia

And here's another one I for some reason haven't posted my review of yet. At first Thalia is an overwhelming champagne scent. I have to be careful with how much I put on because a little goes a long way. The longer I have this on my skin, the more the pear comes out, as well as a hint of something floral (the plumeria, most likely, but I don't know this note well enough to identify it for sure). It ends as a pretty blend of pear and champagne with that floral note hiding underneath. This doesn't have much throw after the pear comes out, but it does last for several hours.

    Jezebel

How did I not review this one?! It was one of the first BPAL scents I ever tried! Anyway... This is so very sweet. I can pick out the orange blossom (seems to give it a slightly tart edge) and the rose (to add to the beauty). The honey makes it so very sweet, and the sandalwood just adds another dimension to this lovely scent. Unfortunately, whenever I wore Jezebel, it eventually turned into a very sweet baby powder with a stronger-than-average throw. This would be wonderful in a scent locket, but on my skin it just doesn't want to stay beautiful.

    Malediction

This was a frimp in one of my first orders from the lab. I wouldn't have ordered it for myself because I do my best to avoid patchouli...and even after trying it, I still wouldn't order it for myself. I'm not familiar with vetivert, but dear Lord, the patchouli nearly killed me when I opened the imp. I never noticed anything except the patchouli in this, and it was just too much for me.

    Leanan Sidhe

Just realized I didn't post my review here...oops. Leanan Sidhe is a sweet scent, but it's very flowery. It doesn't morph much on my skin; it just stays a very strong floral with a hint of an unidentified herb hiding underneath. It lasted for about 2-3 hours with a very strong throw. I'm not a fan of strong florals, so as much as I wanted to love Leanan Sidhe, it's not for me.

    Asphodel

And this is why I don't like straight florals. Asphodel makes my nose crinkle up and my stomach hurt. It brings to mind images of generic grey flowers, death, and mourning. If not for how the smell affects me, this would be perfect for a funeral...but the scent, to me, is a rather unpleasant, overpowering flower with nothing else to balance it out. I can't bring myself to wear it for more than a few minutes.

    Wrath

On me, Wrath starts out as a balanced blend of cinnamon and pepper with a hint of clove. I don't know dragon's blood well enough to pick it out yet, so if it's there I can't tell. As the oil dries the pepper and clove come out a bit more, and the cinnamon fades to the back. After a few minutes, it starts to turn soapy. It doesn't have much throw on me, and after 15 minutes I can't smell it anymore. This is the 4th time today I've applied Wrath, and it keeps disappearing! I would like this a lot better if it would last longer and not go soapy on my skin. Darn chemistry.

    Zorya

I don't get much of a floral scent from this even when I am able to breathe properly. It's more musky and incense-y to me, kind of like the incense my idiot burns at his house. I have to be careful and not put very much on because my skin seriously amps this up, and you can smell it across the room. It doesn't last very long on me, though -- two hours at the most. Still not quite sure how much I like it even after 4 tests, which means that it's probably not going to be one of my favorites.

    Port-Au-Prince

Admittedly I am sick and can barely breathe, but this is my review of Port-au-Prince from today: This was a rich, almost candy-sweet almond. I could smell the rum in the background, and after a while the clove came out a bit more while the candy-sweetness faded a little. I don't recall any bay or sassafrass peeking out from under the other notes. Since I'm sick I'm not sure about the throw, but this did last for several hours. I like it and will wear it again once I can breathe properly.

    Fruit Moon

Oooh, I'm so glad I was able to get my hands on this. The fruits are so perfectly blended; every now and then something specific will pop up (peach, raspberry, apple, orange are what I remember most), but for the most part it's just a fabulous medley of all my favorite fruits. Fruit Moon doesn't have much throw on me, but dear Lord, it lasts for hours. I put it on yesterday before leaving for work, and 15 hours later I could still smell it as I went to bed.

    Fire Eater

This felt very masculine to me. I didn't get any spice or florals. It reminded me more of fire itself -- not smoke, but somehow the scent of flames. There was also a very dry wood underneath. After a while, though, it turned a bit powdery. It lasted for several hours and was strong enough for my boyfriend to perk up and say, "Something smells GOOD!" Unfortunately, it's not to my preferences. Maybe I'll just give it to the idiot since he liked it so much.

    Nefertiti

The iris is my favorite flower, and I've grown to like sandalwood, so I was very interested in trying this one. I cannot pick out any floral notes at all, however; all I can smell is a slightly herby sandalwood. My co-worker said it smells like incense and made her think of Egypt, and that was before I told her the name. I didn't dislike Nefertiti, but I wish I could smell the iris in it.

    The Apothecary

Very strong tea, very strong herbs, VERY STRONG GINGER. For fifteen minutes all I could smell was a strong herbal tea. Suddenly the ginger took over, and that was all I could smell. It wasn't overpowering, but I just don't really like the scent of straight ginger. I wasn't really crazy about this to begin with because tea scents aren't a favorite, so at least it didn't break my heart when the ginger took over.

    Tenochtitlan

I feel like I'm in the desert with this scent. It's very dry but sweet (the pear?) with a hint of sage coming through. When I first put it on, I had this image of tumbleweeds in the desert blowing past a lonely blooming flower, which was kind of odd since I can't really pick out any floral notes. Tenochtitlan has average throw on my skin and lasts for about 4-5 hours. I like this, but I don't see myself wearing it very often.

    The Hesperides

Very pretty! I can definitely smell the oak bark underneath the apple. The oak gives the apple a stronger foundation, which I like. The scent started out strong on my skin, but it faded pretty quickly. When I put my nose to my wrist several hours later, however, I can still catch a whiff of it.

La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente

Imp: Peach, something else a bit fruity (the pomegranate?), and deep aquatics underneath. Skin: Peach, deep aquatics, tiny hint of florals -- and within five minutes of application it turned to baby powder. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not even before the powder. Although I like aquatic scents in general, I don't prefer them as perfumes. Once it turned to baby powder, though, I knew this wasn't for me.

    Jack

Butter. No pumpkin, no clove, no peach, no nutmeg. From the imp I can almost smell a spice underneath the butter, but as soon as I put it on -- butter. Someone had recommended this to me when I joked about a scent that smelled like butterscotch schnapps, but Jack doesn't even do that. It just smells like butter that's been sitting on the counter for a few hours, so it's soft and gooey and all over the place. It's very strong, though, and lasts through several washings. I'll need to try this with Gingerbread Poppet. ETA: After letting Jack sit for a while, I finally get pumpkin and a bit of spices (mainly nutmeg) from this. It's still a bit buttery but nowhere near as strong. Average throw, lasts for at least 3 hours. It's reminding me a lot of pumpkin pie.

    Midway

YUMMY! I'm sad that I discovered this too late to stock up on bottles. I received this as a decant. In the imp -- cake! And apples! And caramel! So very very sweet and delicious! On my skin, the funnel cake is brought out a bit more, and the apples fade back, but it remains utterly delicious. My boyfriend wanted to eat my wrist, this smells so good. Unfortunately it didn't last for more than a couple of hours. I'll have to use this only on days when I NEED sweetness in order to save this decanted imp for as long as possible (unless I find more for sale/swap...hmmm.)

    Honey Moon

I'm slowly learning that ginger overpowers all other notes on my skin. In the imp, all I could smell was ginger, but from reading these reviews I'd hoped that the honeys would peek out once I put it on. Nope. Ginger, ginger, ginger. Very strong ginger. After an hour, it turned into baby powder and I washed it off. So sad.

    Glasgow

This was on my wishlist, so when the lab threw it in as a frimp I was very excited. From the imp I could smell mainly blackberries with a hint of something green, almost grassy, underneath. The blackberries stayed on top after I put it on, but the green scent underneath grew stronger. The scent faded quickly. Overall, it's a very nice blend, but not really suitable for me.

    Tintagel

This was a frimp that I never would have ordered for myself -- if I'd ordered it at all, it would be for a friend who loves King Arthur. Even now, reading the description more carefully, it doesn't seem like something I'd love...but love it I do. Mainly I get leather and a bit of sweet/spicy from the imp. Once on my skin, however, the leather fades away into a very sweet/spicy scent. I don't know most of these particular notes well enough to be able to distinguish them in a scent yet, but whatever it is I'm smelling, I'm loving it. It reminds me of apple cider, heavy on the cinnamon, but it doesn't irritate my skin at all. Every now and then I can pick out the leather, so I don't get bored with just the sweet/spicy -- the leather adds another dimension that I enjoy. Tintagel has average throw on me and doesn't last as long as I'd like. That's my only complaint.

    Hellcat

When I put this on, I couldn't remember what notes were in it, and I still swear I smelled chocolate and cloves even though they're not listed. Anyway. As Hellcat dried, the hazelnut became more pronounced, and I could catch a whiff of the buttercream every now and then. This scent was constantly changing on my skin -- at times being sweet, at times almost spicy, and sometimes extremely nutty. I can't decide if I like it or not. The throw was strong, and it lasted for several hours.

    Harlot

In the imp, Harlot was pure, dark rose -- the kind of red rose that is so deep in color it's nearly black. Once on my skin, I got a bit of spice while it was still wet, then as it dried the cinnamon was brought out more. It blended beautifully with the roses; the roses didn't allow the cinnamon to take over the scent, and the cinnamon added that extra depth to the roses that I prefer. The throw was strong enough for my co-worker to smell me from several feet away (and over photo processing chemicals, too!). I'm not sure how long it lasted, though, because I put it on this morning before going to work, and then we were too busy for me to keep track of the scent. I do absolutely love this scent.
