  1. This scent gives off a sense of purpose. It's helping me focus after a monstrously stressful day. I was having trouble focusing on wht needs to get done, but this has made me feel more clear.

It's a lovely and very soft scent. Not at all bothersome. I could wear it in abundance and no one would know I was sort of medicating myself with it.

There is a bit of earthyness in it which is probably helping me feel grounded, but there are a few brighter, more aquatic notes that inspire.

    Lovely concoction!

  2. I also smell green. It's almost grassy on me.

I was really expecting to love this one, but sadly, it's a no for me. It's too sharp for my tastes. It actually reminds me a lot of a hairspray I used to use, can't remember which one, but it's not pleasant.

  3. This came as an extra in my most recent order. I never thought of ordering this one, but I must admit that in the bottle this is stunning. On me, it is stunning (especially when I smell it up close) but whatever is wafting up is giving me a headache (damn it!). I'm pissed cause I think this is just the kind of scent I'm looking for for summer.

I'm a bit ill so I'm hoping the negative reaction is because of that. Hopefully in a few days it will work better for me.

  4. FAS-CIN-AT-ING! I'm amazed that I have the option of smelling like this.

To me it smells exactly like a campfire. I couldn't imagine wearing this on a daily basis, but it's so interesting that I'm a bit tempted to keep it.

I think this is a must try for all....It's just filled with memories.

Now it's trick or treating on Halloween in the Northeast. How fun. Think I'll swap it so someone else can try.

  5. Bubblegum...well bubblegum with lavendar and cinnamon. I am actually quite fascinated with it. It's a complex little bugger. It's got me going....I smell sweet, NO spicy, NO bitter, NO....

Wet it was pure bubblegum....which was actually very fun.

First on- What the heck happened to the bubble gum...it's got lavendar in it.

Drying- Somebody put big red in my double bubble. Hmmmm.

Dry- The spice is most prominant now. I think it could be a rather lovely room scent as I know the boy won't like it on me. He doesn't like me smelling edible. (what a weirdo)

Edited to add: OUCH! Burning....not only my arm where I put it, but also my nose where I sniffed it. I'm red and puffy. Definately not a scent for me to wear. Will try for room scent though.

  6. This is the first BPAL scent that I've tried that reminds me of the scent of the ocean as I drive through Santa Monica each morning. It has that misty, sweet, morning ocean air smell. I have a slight headache and I'm hoping that this scent isn't what's causing it cause I think it would make a fantastic room scent.

  7. I'm going to disagree with the above. I think it depends on what rose is missing for you. I don't tend to like wearing rose as I find it a bit bitter and empty, but I think this adds a bit of sweetness that fills out the rose for me. I don't get any muskyness, just sweet rose. I think I may be getting more ylang ylang than others.

I like it very much....I think I'm going to keep the imp for a while it even though hubby just said "eh".

  8. It's funny how we all have different opinions about these pairings!  And so interesting to me; I think if there is a note you really like or don't like, you tend to think scents that share that note are more alike than someone who doesn't have a strong feeling about that note would.

I think Ms. MSgirl hit it right on the head. For example, I find Phantom Queen and Queen Mab to be very similar, Queen Mab being warmer and Phantom Queen more suitable for Summer. I've decided that it must be the Black Orchid listed for both scents that make me think they are so similar.

I also found a striking similarity between Veil and Twilight.

  9. I too wondered about cinnamon...it doesn't burn, but boy does it smell cinnamony. I wasn't really expecting to like this one, but I love it. It just goes to show that I know absolutely nothing!

It's warm and a bit powdery (I love powdery smells). The spicy beginning tones down when dry and just adds depth and warmth.

Dry it reminds me of Aubrey Organics Island Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner (if any one knows what that smells like). I love it....hope hubby does too.

    Astrological Info- Aries

How'd you find out about BPAL- Madgiepie introduced me (through TLHC)

Comments- Finally scents that match my personality. It's great to have so many unique options.

  11. Aparently I'm the only one who smells peanut butter in the vial. Maybe a peanut butter cup, but definately peanut buttery for me.

On, the peanut butter scent quickly morphs into hot chocolate made with milk. I get a very milky version of chocolate. The chocolate is there, but it's really diluted by the vanilla and milk.

I love the effect of the myrrh and sandalwood....and I've never particularly liked the smell of sandal wood. They give it an old feel....and make it a but nutty at certain angles.

Tasty, but as the boy doesn't like me in foody scents, I'm afraid this one will be banished to the burner....I'm sure it will make the whole house smell delicious.

  12. This scent has that same something in it that I smell in all the Aveda products. While I like that scent, it tends to be cloying on me, so this isn't a scent I'm likely to wear.

It turns rather powdery on me....now mind you, I like powdery scents, but this powdery just isn't me.

It IS however a very interesting scent and I totally understand why some people absolutely adore it. This is signature scent material....it's a second skin scent on me.....just a second skin scent that isn't me. (if that makes sense)

I have a feeling hubby will like it though.....so I may end up keeping the imp.

  13. OK, so now I know what scent is simply turning me on.....Black Orchid. I got the same feeling from Phantom Queen as I did from Queen Mab....the only common note that I can see is Black Orchid....so that's it for me...I'm on Black Orchid hunt now.

In the bottle.....Uh.....Queen Mab. Beautiful, rich, thick, heavy. Totally sexy and strong.

On me...warmer and smoother. Still absolutely sexy. I dunno, I may even like this one better than Queen Mab. Phantom Queen is a bit more gentle than Queen Mab. QM, though I LURVE it is slightly headache inducing for me. Not a twinge of an ache with PQ.

Drat...it faded very quickly on me....but, oh well, guess I'll just have to buy more.

ETA: This is the only scent I wear that illicits compliments from both men and women. Infact, it seems men are drawn to smelling my neck when I wear it. I put this in one of those necklace perfume bottles so I can reapply often.

  14. I too smelled clove which is why I (unfortunately) didn't like this one. I loved everything but the "clove" note (which I assume is actually the carnation?) in this....if it hadn't been there it would have been that perfect spring scent I was looking for. So sad for me. But happy for those who don't mind the smell of clove...aka carnation.

  15. It started out a bit too strong for my tastes but settled town to something much softer and cooler. It's very clean smelling, but not crispy clean, not sharply clean. There is a cool, clean sheets feeling to this. Like lying in bed on a lazy Spring morning in freshly laundered sheets...with the windows open. Very fresh and country.

This one is really nice, but not really me...I could easily keep it and finish the imp, but my curiousity for others urges me to swap this one.

  16. This is my second time wearing the scent.

I adore it. It's gentle and lovely. Suitable for warmer weather. Floral, but not just. Dry there is a slight spice to it on me. I'm not really smelling specific notes...just prettiness. If I had to ascribe a color to this it would be white or an off white with a pinkish tint. So pretty.

OK, just re-applied so I could post a response for it wet- It is much crisper and sharper when wet. I can definately smell the pear which is what seems to give the scent its edge. It's clean smelling....but not soapy. It's so pretty and hubby likes it too (which unfortunately is rare...he's so darned picky)

Probably going to go on my quickly growing large bottle list....at the very least I'll need to buy another imp of it....mine came from a swap and is consequently almost gone.

I just wanted to add that this is REALLY lovely in my scent locket. It stays much stronger much longer and gets a bit of warmness to it after a while. I almost always wear this in the locket rather than on my skin.

  17. Almonds just happen to be my favorite scent of all time. This scent is fantastic when wet! Why oh why can't it keep that amazing wet smell of almond?

Dry it is a very smooth and warm vanilla on me...more pleasant and richer than straight vanilla would be, but mostly it's soft vanilla. I like the spiced vanilla but prefer the Almond scent.

I'm going to try this with my diffuser necklace...I hope that it will retain the wet smell longer this way.

I'll probably buy a big bottle of this regardless....I think I'd love this as a room scent as well. I wouldn't mind just keeping a bottle with me at all times to take an occasional "hit" of cinnamony almond through the day.

  18. OK, there is something about Spellbound that I just adore and it's almost perfect. There is just this...uh....twiggy/acidic smell in it that I'm not a fan of. I don't know which part of the scent I love and which part gets in the way.

Does anyone know of something that smells similar to Spellbound but with out this sharper note?

Also...take a stab at what you think might be bothering me. Could it be the red musk? I don't think I've tried anything with red musk yet.

  19. Wet: Grape Big League Chew gum.

Dry: I smell the currant and berries very well. The currant keeps it from being too sweet I think. It's definately a purple scent...well, a purple with shades of burgandy. Interesting, different, and fun.

Not really me, though it might be a fun one to experiment with layering.

  20. Lucy’s Kiss: Rose…similar to Old London, but not as pale and cold. There is something warm underneath. Innocent, but a bit sad….or confused. Lost.

As it dries, it gets more powdery….I like that…I was afraid it would get colder but it continues to get warmer.

I like it very much, but I don't think it's me enough to buy a bottle of....I'll probably finish the imp though.
