    Jewel Tone Scents

I would also suggest Nocnitsa. I got the emerald or dark teal base, but also a whiff of red berries floating over it. I smelled it and thought "whoa! I should tell the Jewel Tone person!"

    Penitence

I've only set foot in a Catholic church about 2 or 3 times in my entire life, and they never had the incense going, so I don't have that as much of an association for me. Neither have I knowingly smelled either frankincense or myrrh before. So this scent is... bizarre to me. Alien but intriguing. Something about these resin scents leaves a dirty, gritty sensation in my nose and mouth, but that slowly fades. The scent starts off very bittersweet, imploring and compelling, but in a language I don't understand. It almost makes me feel as if I'm a gilded, wooden idol. I touch my hair and I feel surprised I can move my hands through it. A precious, ancient, golden scent that grows sweeter and softer with time. This is a pretty notable experience. I feel nervous about wearing it to work, as I don't know what kind of reaction it will get, especially from Catholics. But if I ever had to try to convince someone that I was the angel Gabriel, boy would I know what scent to wear! I like!

    Cathedral

On me, this scent had a lot of "texture." I could clearly sense an Byzantine religious icon or gilded, cedar idol, with old, blistered varnish that feels like a cat's tongue. Heavy incense and resins. Very golden. Actually, for awhile, I thought I smelled something like heady violets alongside the gold scents. A fascinating scent, but perhaps a bit strong for everyday use for me.

    Coyote

*Whimper* Coyote's broken my heart. Wet, all I could smell was a strong, strong lemon soap. Then it faded into a lovely musk and amber, then the other elements came out, one by one, each having a little duet with the musk. Then musk. Musk. More musk. MUSK MUSK MUSK MUSK MUUUUUUUSK. I think I've discovered my skin's affinitiy. Not that it's a bad musk, necessarily. It's just an "oh, you're wearing musk!" kind of scent on me. Lemony, a little powdery, and animal. Maybe I'll try it again, wearing it the whole day through and see if the musk doesn't calm down and let the other scents come out to play. I was so completely sold on this scent before, so I'm glad I just got an imp for now. Edit: After about three hours, the scent quiets significantly and becomes much more balanced; soft, tawny and wonderful, just as I had hoped! And my guy loves it on me! Definitely getting a bottle of this, though I wish I could have it both strong AND nice-smelling =)

    Nocnitsa

Also known as Krisky, Plaksy and Gorska Makua, she is a nightmare spirit, the Night Hag of the Woods, who haunts Polish, Russian, Bulgarian and Slovak children during the darkest hours. The only protection against her torments is a circle drawn around a child’s cradle with a knife, or an axe or protective poppet hidden under the floorboards beneath where a child sleeps. Her scent is that of a lightless fir wood, nighttime air, wet forest mosses and upturned earth. What an interesting scent! I definitely got the damp earth smell out of this one, and a bit of pine. But I'm also in the camp that smelled berries. Actually, it smelled a lot like the dehydrated strawberries you get in some cereals. So it made me giggle continuously for awhile as all I could think of was a person eating a bowl of Special K Red Berries while strolling in a spooky, haunted forest. A rich and multi-faceted "emerald" or perhaps dark teal scent, though, in my mind. I would try it again even though it made me sneeze.
