  1. *sighs* I've come to the decision that the 'new' Post office that the Lab has been using for some reason takes longer to get packages anywhere. I'm now impatiently stalking my mailbox. Because I got a click'n'ship on Friday .. and another on Monday from Darkswan Soaps. Both sent Priority. The one from Darkswan arrived today. Two days. No sign yet of the one from the Lab. I'm seriously considering mojo, to make that darned post office work more efficiently.
  2. There are a number of posts regarding this matter. http://www.bpal.org/index.php?s...indpost&p=28243 http://www.bpal.org/index.php?s...indpost&p=14185 As far as who to contact? I would send an email tonight, as the lab is going 'no mail' essentially soon, and it'll be very hard to contact them regarding anything until they finish their 'break' ... which won't be so much of a break as a period where no -new- orders can be made .. so they can get caught up on the existing orders .. as well as wait for the backordered bottles that they -need- to package the oils up in. Emails should be send to answers @ blackphoenixalchemylab.com Here are a couple of posts about emailing the lab, also. http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=3074 http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=2639

    Wrath

In the bottle: I expected, especially with the color, this to be as 'hot' as Mars was. It's sweeter somehow, and less agressive. Not so much cinnamon as .. well .. possibly the clove blending with dragon's blood. All I know is it's not the cinnamon red hots I expected of a scent named Wrath. Wet: More clove than cinnamon at first, and a little sweetness. After a while though the cinnamon and pepper come out, and I really love it. Sadly, the little wand came off in my imp .. but that's okay. I don't think it'll matter one bit! Wearing: Definitely an 'angry' scent. I'm entirely pleased that my skin isn't as sensitive to the cinnamon oils as so many of you seem to have troubles with, because I love cinnamon-y scents. This one is no exception. It's hot, and spicy, and altogether a perfect match for its name, even though I didn't expect it to be from the smell in the vial. Edited: because 'and' is not the same word as 'an'. Grr.

    Ravenous

In the bottle: How odd! It separated! I had two distinct layers in my imp, swapped from supasonicsage .. I'm sure it's not her fault .. it probably settled. (Great packing job, by the way .. kept everything nicely upright .. no seepage!) Anyway .. it's a light citrus/orance scent .. not at all unpleasant. In fact, I can rather see already why this one earned the name 'Ravenous'. Wet: Red Patchouli isn't something I'm very familiar with, scent wise .. but I imagine that's what's making this spicier than a plain citrus note. Evil orange indeed, Shollin. I can totally get that. It's darker somehow .. more mellow and yet more foreboding. Yum. Side note: 2 minutes after shaking this up to mix it again, it's beginning to separate. Odd! Wearing: I don't think I have many imps of citrus notes .. and this is one I can see getting much more of. Like the lime I love in venom, this one is delicious, but not in the same way. Where Venom is cool and crisp, Ravenous is warm and .. tempting.

    Gluttony

In the bottle: This reminds me very much of Bliss .. but it's not quite as sticky sweet. This scent actually is filling the air right now, because the little imp leaked a little .. but that's okay. It's warm and toasty and just nice. Wet: This a warmer chocolate scent .. like something with toasted nuts in it also. This would make a delicious room scent and candle, for sure. And I suppose for certain occasions, this will even be wearable, where Bliss was just -too- much for me to try to wear. Wearing: This softens slowly, and it reminds me of a body wash I picked up a year or so ago at yule, that was a cocoa scent. Lovely .. though not something I imagine I'd wear a lot. but on occasion .. or when I just want to smell deliciously edible .. yeah, I can see it.
  6. For tension headaches, I've heard that lavender oil can be good, rubbed sparingly into the temples and the back of the neck .. preferably by another person! I've also found that having someone massage the base of my neck, shoulders and upper back often helps when I get those .. which I do .. often. As for the migraines .. count me in on those as well. not as often since I've cut most of the caffeine and processed fodds out of my diet .. but occasionally .. yeouch! I'm thinking I should get an imp of pain to try it out, since I too have heard the same suggestions.

    Titania

In the bottle: Lovely .. simply lovely. This is fruity and floral .. it's like being in a walled garden filled with blooming flowers of all types, and lush fruit trees, vines .. and a table strewn with petals is covered in trays of those fruits for the visitor to enjoy. Wet: Oh, its a sweet blush wine, and a bouquet of flowers, and all sorts of deliciousness all blended together. (I'll add more when I get to work .. no time to finish!) Wearing: It softens after about an hour .. but it's still surrounding me, an aura of loveliness. It's not overwhelming in the least, and it really does invoke the image of the Faerie Queen, from which my name was derived if you believe some tales. Soft, sweet, but a little bit tricksy, and incredibly sensual.
  8. Well, they did state here how emails are handled. Also, do keep in mind that at current there are only two or three people handling everything. Nella is on vacation, and Ted I believe was injured in a hockey game. Leaving Beth and Brian. Who, if I remember correctly, both have 'real' jobs they must keep until it is possible to only have the lab as their main source of income. I know it's so hard to wait. Beth's products are wonderful indeed. But as it stands right now, it's all they can do to keep up with the orders, and sadly, some do get missed, or misfiled more likely. Just remember when you email them to give as much information as possible. Full name and email address, date of order, order/transaction number and even what you ordered. It helps them tremendously. Edit: By the way, I am still awaiting an order from June 8th, as well as one from June 18th. And while I'm desperate for them both .. as both are for LE oils ... I know it'll be well worth it when they do arrive.

    Szepasszony

In the bottle: Blue. This is blue. This is the water scent I've been looking for. Lets just hope it stays blue when I wear it. Wet: It's a summers night, after the heat has broken, sitting on the front porch while the rain pours down. Blue green .. not like a sea, but like a combination of falling rain and a lush garden being drowned in it. Wearing: This is a scent for hot summer nights when I can't -bear- to wear anything heavy or sweet. When I need -wet-, but it's not coming from the sky. Who knows .. with enough muttering and this scent .. maybe I can coax some, so my poor plants won't bake in this southern summer heat.
  10. Well .. the title of the post states that they are shipped through June 11th, with a few exceptions, so I'm a little confused how that doesn't answer your question? Barring that .. you can email the Lab Staff, as is mentioned in numerous places, at answers @ blackphoenixalchemylab . com They are a little backed up right now due to lack of staffing and high order volume, but they do try to get back to you in a timely manner. Info about emailing the lab: http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=3074 http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=2639 http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showtopic=2845 Hope that helps?
  11. I'm wondering if there's an off alignment somewhere .. anyone know? I've not been paying attention.

    Scarecrow

Jason absolutely loves this scent .. and we really got it for him anyway .. but I had to at least try it. I have to preface this with saying I have not been able to get the image of the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz out of my head since I first head of this scent. In the bottle: Very crisp, very acrid smelling, but not really harsh. Not yet dead grasses in an overgrown field. Wet: Wow. This is a powerful scent. I think I might have put on too much, as I wasn't thinking this would be too strong. But that's okay. I like it. It's not floral, and not foody, and neither is it sweet. The best think I can describe this as is woody .. but not in the way of Aureus and Cathedral are on me. No cedar to irritate my nose. Wearing: It's not mellowed yet, but I don't think it needs to. This isn't what I imagine I'd wear a lot for perfume .. it smells more masculine to me than feminine. But I don't mind that sometimes. It's a warm autumnal scent which is something I've been lookinf gor too .. not a scent to burn for autumn, like in incense .. but to wear.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

That's a very good point. I have been using a coffee-stirrer to apply from my June Gloom and Brujah bottles, and it works well enough .. and later the room always smells like what I wore, because you never get all of it off. I may have to place another order with Sunburst .. or check out what this Moonbeam Garden has.
  14. TygherRayn

    Wicked

In the bottle: Rosey jasmine. Floral, for sure. I remember the first time I sniffed this I loved it. Or so say vaniclion and salice. They remember me saying so. Wet: Ew? What the heck did this turn into .. it's like bathwater into which roses have been macerated .. and it's not lovely at all. Wearing: I won't be. I've tried this three times, and each time it makes me nauseous. Sadly .. despite me wating Wicked to be nice .. it remains perfectly, horridly wicked and cruel on my skin.
  15. TygherRayn

    Eclipse

In the bottle: Cherries and/or almonds, bathed in melted sugar. This one is so sweet, I almost just dropped it immediately into a 'Swap' pile. Wet: I don't get the cinnamon in this really at all. This smells almost like a cherry-menthol coughdrop to me Wearing: Didn't last long. Jason bought a gum once that tasted like this smells. Sadly .. a swap.
  16. TygherRayn

    Twilight

In the bottle: Lavender. This was one of my original choices for a 'sleepytime' scent, as lavender's known for its rest-inducing qualities. Wet: Every so often I catch a whiff of jasmine .. and jasmine and lavender should go really well together. but I'm afraid this blend isn't blending well with my chemistry. For every nice, lovely whiff I get two or three that are just sour and rotten. And I'm so horribly upset about that fact. Wearing: I won't be wearing it for very long, sadly. It's not a scent I can stand to wear for long .. and that rather defeats the purpose I wanted it for. So I'll be passing this along to someone else.
  17. TygherRayn

    Wings of Azrael

In the bottle: Wet violets and mulch, oddly enough. Not pine straw mulch, but good, thick bark mulch. Wet: This remains rather green on me, and while it's a very clean, soft, soothing scent, there are so many more that are moreso for me. Wearing: This one is just not me. I think my skin is bringing out the juniper and the cypress more, and I'm just not sure those two work well with my skin. I'm very glad to have tried it, but it's going to join the swap pile.
  18. TygherRayn

    Kitsune-Tsuki

In the bottle: White, juicy .. I want to say pear-like, but it doesn't smell like pears. Maybe it's the plum I'm getting the fruitiness from. And the sweet florals. Wet: This is not what I imagine when I think of the Kitsune, though I suppose it does fit them in some aspects. This reminds me of a Stephanie Law painting, where one of the primary themes are the Kitsune .. her style seems to fit this scent. It's sweet, bright and airy. Wearing: Sadly, as much as I wanted this to be something else, it just won't change to fit my picture. I like it, don't get me wrong. But I was hoping for something a bit more .. foxlike. More crafty and cunning. I'll hold onto this one a while longer.

    Hollywood Babylon

In the Bottle: Sweet, strawberry and almost overwhelming. It's actually kind of a grapey-strawberry oddness in the bottle at first. Very sweet, very possibly not a scent for me. Wet: The grape fades and leaves a sticky-sweet strawberry. The vanilla, for me, is in the background .. way in the background. It's not mellowing this any, and while I can't imagine wearing this much, I just have to give it a try. Wearing: The red musk and the black cherry are working to smooth this form me, and I'm happy they are, cos I was afraid this might not be a keeper. I won't wear it often, as it's too strong for every-day wearing, but for special occasions .. definitely.

    Queen Gertrude

In the bottle: Pale blue. A cool spring morning, with the early flowers just beginning to bloom, and as you walk out onto your patio you smell the wisteria draped over the trellis above. Wet: Sweet and dark. Rich. This smells like a rich, dignified older woman. This scent would waft out of her Rolls-Royce when she arrived at some state function, and would carry around her, making everyone smile. Wisteria is one of my favorite flowers, and I love it in this. Soft and lilac-y blue and wonderful .. and the fact that there's delphinium in this .. I'd love to get the single note of that, as it was part of my wedding bouquet and I'm dying to know what it alone smells like. Wearing: Elegant, proud and warm but still aloof. This is an older woman's perfume .. though that's not to say I won't wear it even now, as a still younger woman! I love this. It's pale and sweet and powerful all at once.

    Queen of Sheba

In the bottle: This teeters between the 'king's nuts' sold at Rennaisance Fares, and the heady spice of Old Morocco, though it's sweeter than that one. Almonds, definitely .. and the sweetness of honey. I think I won't be wearing this to the Faire, much as the bees would love it. Wet: The spice begins to heat pretty quickly, and I'm glad for that. I didn't want this to be so much almond that it's overpowering. It really is a sweeter, lighter Old Morocco on me. Wearing: Much as I like this, it's perhaps a little too sweet for me to wear regularly. It's softening a bit as I wear it longer, but I think that if I want this spicy, Middle Eastern kind of scent, I'll stick with Old Morocco.

    Severin

In the bottle: This to me is reminiscent of Villain to me .. lemony and light. It's almost tea with lemon, but I'm not sure if I'm imagining that tea or not. My initial impression was this was an almost clinical scent .. crisp and clean, like bleach, only it smells better. Wet: Still lemony. I have a feeling this will smell fabulous on Jason .. however it seems to be doing a 'Villain' thing on me .. it's becoming almost lemon pledge. There's an almost acrid tone to this that bites at my nose. It's nice, but I'm just not so sure it's me. Wearing: Sadly, this does like Villain does, only this is just too cold to ever play nice on my skin, whereas Villain just lemons out. I imagine though it'll be amazing on Jason though, so I'm not going to complain. Wanda's nice enough to make up for this one not working, certainly.
  23. TygherRayn

    Wanda

In the bottle: The mere description scared me. I was worried Wanda might be too overpowering for me. But she's not bad. Wine. A rich, bold wine, tainted by the dark floral of violet. I'm not noticing the musk, or the leather like I can in De Sade .. but they may come out when I'm wearing her. Wet: On me, this is a wine/floral at first. I now and again get a hint of the leather beneath it all, but this is mostly wine. Very warm wine .. perhaps almost a mulled wine .. but not quite as spicy as that. The crust roses come out, but blissfully, at least for now, they're not cloying and over-ripe. They're just there, mixed in with the gentleness of the violet, swathed .. or perhaps drowned, in the bold wine. I really keep wavering between 'Oooh, this is so hot!' and 'I'm not sure I like this.' Wearing: Definitely a sexy scent. The leather in this, like De Sade, reminds me more of hard boot leather than the smell that draws me to most leather stores. It's not soft, it's not gentle .. but it's alson not a predominant note for me. This is wine-soaked leather. This is a hidden garden, walled to all but the owners, where they play out debaucherous fantasies.
  24. TygherRayn

    Alecto

In the bottle: I immediately smell the cedar, which makes me worry if this will be okay on my skin. But it's somehow greener than Tombstone and Catheral's cedar, so it might work out. Hope so .. I so want the Furies to work for me. Wet: Not so much woody as it is green. Kind of a piney green .. the leaves, probably. And that's okay with me. This strikes me as a wintery scent. It smells almost like the house does for a few days after you bring in a fresh tree and are waiting for the branches to fall before decorating it. Wearing: Still that Yuletime smell. I'm not so sure this works for me as a perfume .. the hot, woodsy smell of this makes me think of a bonfire. We used to have them often at school, and up north, pine is a common wood to be burned. When I'd go home, I'd always smell like ashes and smoke and pine tar somehow .. which is what this reminds me of.
  25. TygherRayn

    Megaera

In the bottle: Citrus-y sweet. The grapefruit isn't nearly as strong as in Aizen-Myoo, it's lighter and sweeter, not as tart. This scent is a light orange, sweet, crisp and lovely. Pink grapefruit mayber, while Aizen-Myoo is most definitely yellow. Wet: This stays a sweet, sugared grapefruit at first on me. I can also smell the rich, sweet plum coming out. Maybe a touch of the amber too .. my skin like to amp-up the amber in things, which in this case I can't imagine will be bad. Wearing: The furies did not kill their victims. They made them mad. I can see that in this scent .. I can envision a hideously beautiful woman tormenting a man so much that he goes insane. This scent is that of a woman's jealously .. the jealousy that can drive her to simmering rage so much that she makes all others uncomfortable .. but she is, mostly .. harmless. Another of Brian's Masterpieces, clearly.
