  1. Thank you all for helping a girl out! I'm taking notes.

I tried Wolfsbane today and I love it! My first BPAL love (not bad, considering I've only tried 6 scents so far).

And my wish list just keeps growing... :P

That's awesome! Wolfsbane was just what I was going to suggest. I love it, too.

You might also try Phobos for that clean citrusy smell. And, I know somebody else already suggested Baobhan Sith and Imp, but they are both fantastic.

You might love Xiuhtecuhtli. It's got a bit of floral, but it's mainly orangey and incensey. It's really delicious.

And I'm definitely not a floral person, and yet I love Queen Mab. If you haven't tried it, you may want to consider it.

  2. Goona Goona smells to me like a mix of Water of Notre Dame (or Hymn) and a single note white floral. The floral is stronger than I though it would be.

That's pretty much exactly what I was going to say. Smells like Water of Notre Dame, but flowerier.

I didn't realize that it was the peace and compassion one when I put it on. But, that explains alot about how I've been feeling today. I've been very peaceful. Maybe a little too peaceful since I'm at work.

    But, good stuff.

  3. At first on me, Jabberwocky is mainly eucalyptus, with a strong blast of pine. I made my boyfriend smell it and he said, "Smells like a monster!" But it quickly settles down, and is nice and foresty and happy. And then it's gone.

I like smelling like a monster!

  4. For me, storm is first a flash of mint and then immediately citrus. Stays citrusy and slightly watery for a brief while, and then it's gone. Within an hour this was gone from my skin.

Oh well, gives me an excuse to put something else on.

  5. My experience with Sol is different than the above reviews. On me, sol is lemony but not sweet, a touch of vanilla and cinnamon, possibly a touch of coconut. Sol is warming and cheery.

Perhaps I am a child of the Sun after all.

  6. Perfectly enchanting! An irresistibly sexual, utterly rapturous blend of three roses, radiant amber, and sensual red musk.

Spellbound is the most "evening" scent I've tried. A womanly scent, Spellbound seems suited to a big black-tie night at the opera or a fancy dinner party or a blind date.

  7. I did not experience any burning or redness whatsoever. At first I was very careful, and applied in only a tiny spot. When I realized it wasn't burning at all, I put it everywhere! Ha!

At first Mercury is all Lavendar. Then it is all Cinnamon! Finally, it combines into a really beautiful, unique fragrance.

    5 hours later, it's gone.

  8. Wolf's Heart was so much more floral than I expected. When I think of Wolves, I don't think of flowers.

As to the effect. Lately, I've been having alot of trouble with going to sleep. I'm always afraid that somebody's going to break into the house, etc. A bit crazyparanoid, I know. The Wolf's Heart really helped. I don't know if it was the placebo effect, or what, but I definitely did not feel afraid when I went to bed last night. And I got to sleep fairly quickly, which is almost unheard of for me.

  9. La Petit Mort. Somehow I expected something stronger. At first, I honestly could not smell this at all. Putting the vial up to my nose, I couldn't smell it. So I slaaaaathered it on. My boyfriend said he could smell it and it smelled like baby powder. But he says that about alot of things, so I didn't pay much attention.

About 30 minutes later, I could smell this very subtle, pleasant fragrance and realized it was coming from me. Weird, but nice. If there isn't something wrong with my nose, this could be a good work scent.

  10. Well, I was going to say almost the exact same thing that Requiem-of-Roses said. Even down to the little girls! It is a perfect innocent, late spring, childhood scent.

I'm totally going to get a bottle of this as springtime draws near.

  11. This is so much different from what I expected. Soft, light and sweet.

Occasionally, I get little whiffs of coconuttiness. Mostly white musk and plum and something else. Probably the opoponax, since I have no idea what that might smell like!

*editing because I forgot to say that I am completely in love with the King of Spades!

  12. Well, wearing this doesn't work for me. It gives me a big ol' headache. It is almondy and smokey and vanillay like the others have suggested and none of those things usually give me a headache. But, thee headache definitely comes on every time I put my nose to my wrist.

But I will try using it in a ritual.

  13. Chaos CXXII

I traded with Violetblue for this one.

It is at first overwhelmingly menthol. Sinusclearingly menthol. Even with the cap on it is menthol.

Once on it quickly settles down and becomes menthol (which seems to be some sort of mint and eucalytpus) and aquatic. Now, I'm not usually one for aquatic scents, but this is different. It's so fresh. Not floral or sweet at all.

And will definitely be good for those days when I need something aquatic. And for those days when I need my sinuses cleared.

  14. My experience was much more like ladylatemar's. It is very floral. Though to me it smells more like sweet pea than anything else. I get a little bit of something herbal, but no peachy-apricoty-ness.

I haven't had it on long enough to experience any good luck effects, so we'll see about that.

*editing later 'cause I'm wearing it again. It doesn't smell like sweet pea this time. More like jasmine. And since jasmine has a tendency to take over on me, that's what it does. But it also does lift my spirits.

  15. If you're one of the unlucky subgroup whose skin transforms civet into something the dog rolled in, you could make an unforgettable impression that way.

Unless he's a scat fancier, then you're on your own.

That's what I was going to suggest. Civet smells totally gross on me. Especially Red Devil, it smells like cat spray and bad breath! Nobody could find that attractive.

  16. Hello all.

I'm getting ready to place my umpteenth order and just realized something strange. If I'm reading the site right, it looks like shipping is cheaper to Canada than to U.S.

For example I am ordering 2 5mls and 2 sets of imps.

According to the international shipping rules that counts as 4 items, so is $7 to Canada.

    Do you sell internationally?

YES! Unfortunately, due to the limitations of our current credit card processing system we can only accept PayPal for any orders placed outside of the United States, Canada included. The following is a quick reference chart for international shipping costs covering Canada, Australasia and Western Europe, verbatim from this thread in the BPAL Forums:

    1 item = 1 5ml

    1 item = 1 10 ml

    1 item = 1 set of imps (6 imps)

If it's 4 items or less, these are the flat rates:

    $7 Canada

    $9 most of Western Europe

    $10 to Australia

If it's 5 items or more = 2 dollars extra to each flat rate.

If 10 items or more, $4 dollars extra to each flat rate.

But, according to the U.S. instructions it is $8.50 because it is between $40 and $100.

    What are your shipping rates?

The shipping rates for the US are as follows:

Orders totaling up to $20.00: $5.00

    …up to $40.00: $6.50

    …up to $100.00: $8.50

    …up to $350.00: $12.50

Shipping costs will be waived for all orders over $500.00.

Does that seem right? Am I reading something wrong? Why would it cost less to send internationally?
