How to remove scents from your skin

These are all great suggestions. I'm like Tesseljoan, rubbing alcohol is the one thing that has consistently worked for me. But, I haven't tried all of these other things... don't have babies or oily skin, so no baby-wipes or astringent pads. The other oil tip sounds pretty interesting, I'll remember that next time I try a head-ache inducing or civet-including blend.

    Banshee

Banshee is at first a very dry, dusty lemon scent. It's sort of like Phobos, but much more dry. I've never smelled anything this dry before. About 15 minutes later, it starts to smell sort of rosey. There aren't any roses in it, so I don't know what that is. Now all that's there is that rosiness. Weird. Banshee was a nice one, but I still wonder where that rosiness came from.

    Succubus

Succubus is a musky orange scent when wet. And either it wafts really, spectacularly well or I got some in my nose. Bergamot, neroli & mimosa all smell like orange to me, so this is just orange, orange, many shades of orange. As it dries, it's like an orange candy. Really, if you like orange, then this is the one for you!

    Scarecrow

Scarecrow reminds me of something from my childhood, I'm not exactly sure what it is. It brings back memories of a friend's bedroom. I think she had some make-up or a perfume or something. After a brief while, Scarecrow became overwhelmingly strong to me and I had to wash it off. Oh well.

    Yggdrasil

To me Yggdrasil was a very light, woodsy/citrus scent. Though the citrus may be something else like chamomile or something. It is very light and breezy and beautiful. If I wasn't already in love with Wolfsbane as my woodsy scent, I would totally go for Yggdrasil. ...Not that they're really very similar, but I feel like I can only have one woodsy scent. But that's probably just because I am a weirdo. ** editing on 12/21/05 -- We used up the rest of the imp in a 4 oz bottle of (otherwise) unscented lotion. It is fantastic! Yggdrasil makes a wonderful lotion. The complexity is much more obvious. Really light and wonderful!

    Oisin

Oisin is gorgeousness. I bought this for my S.O. because he is a comic book and graphic novel fanatic; luckily the scent is so beautiful. It is light and airy, and soft and green and oh so lovely. He smells like a dream in this perfume. OH, so beautiful.

    Tenochtitlan

Wow, Tenochtitlan is not what I expected at all. It is a light, fruity herbal blend. Very very delicate. There wasn't much change from wet to dry. Aaand, I put this on last night at about 10:00 pm, it is now 10:00 am and there is still a faint scent on my wrist. Really an amazing accomplishment this one.

    Bastet

AT first on my skin and in the bottle, Bastet is pure Almond. Something about almond and my chemistry. It's like my body goes, "Is that almond? Turn it UP!" Luckily, however, the almond blast faded after about 15 minutes. Now it is pure gorgeousness. My boyfriend said it made him "hungry. Sexy hungry." I'm not really sure what that means, but I like the sound of it. I can't pick out the individual notes, even knowing what is in it. This goes on my big bottle list for sure. Yowza!

    Skadi

Skadi is beautiful. Starts out very piney and then the berries which were in the background come to the foreground. After several hours it is mainly sweet, soft, warm, glowing, goodness. So good.

    Mistletoe

I've got to agree with Penance on this one. Mistletoe is exactly like a fresh Christmas tree. This is the scent of Christmas to me. I've had a fake silver tree for about 5 years now, and I didn't realize how much I missed this scent. Oh Mistletoe, how I love thee.

    Laudanum

Laudanum is spicy, herbal medicine and I like it. I feel languorous. Perfect!

    Carnal

Interestingly, Carnal smells like a candle to me. A nice candle, but a candle nonetheless. It's nice, but not really me. OH well.

    Block Buster

Wow, BlockBuster inspired this sort of semi-poetic review: smells like a summer festival. Like drinking an icy cold fruit slush in a crowd of young people, while the blazing sun heats your skin on a hectic, carefree day. Later it morphs into something softer, as if some clouds have come rolling in, or the sun has set. Very interesting. And I do feel as though I've busted through some blocks. So Yay!

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

Have you tried Spellbound? It's really beautiful. Doesn't say vanilla, but the amber gives a similar feel, at least to me. The description is: "Perfectly enchanting! An irresistibly sexual, utterly rapturous blend of three roses, radiant amber, and sensual red musk."

    Bruja

My imp of Bruja is old and tarted and yet I tried it for the first time today. I don't know if this is one of those that mellows with age or what, but it is beautiful. A pleasant, warm, soft fragrance. And myrrh, which usually turns to straight baby-powder on my skin, is very well-behaved in this blend. All-in-all a nice blend.

    Vinland

Vinland is beautiful. Olfactory sensatiosn of grey and mauve. Wispy, but with an unexpected depth. Sort of a sunset feel, neither light nor dark. Definitely a bit on the sweet side. Whether it's just the name association, I don't know, but I get the feeling of Vikings (I don't know what "teh feeling of Vikings" is, but it's there) and of a northern springtime meadow.

    Rage

I've tried Rage twice, each with a different experience. The first time I tried Rage, it smelled of Hops. And I knew that wasn't right. I think something was fishy with my chemistry that day. Today I tried it again, and it was at first all dragon's blood, then became floral and amber. I've never really experienced rose geranium before, it was quite interesting. This drydown was really beautiful, soft and warm with good throw. If I put my nose to my wrist, I could smell the mandarin; wafting around me was all amber and dragon's blood with the softest touch of the rosegeranium. Unfortunately, it was soon gone. I mean, within an hour I could not smell it anymore. Totally different than what I expected.

    Severin

At first Severin is very citrussy, with something in the background (probably the tea & leather, huh?) But that's as far as the review can go. It lasts less than 10 minutes on my skin. Oh well.
  19. Allow me to second the nomination of Imp. It is delicious, and not really very sweet.

    Djinn

An ancient, free-willed race created from the essence of Fire, much as man was created from Earth. They prowled the land at night, vanishing with the first rays of dawn. Myths surrounding the Djinn paint them as many things: benevolent champions of mankind and slaves to mad sorcerers, malicious incubi / succubi and energy vampires, or malevolent harbingers of madness and disease. The Djinn are ruled by Iblis, the Prince of Darkness, who bears unspeakable contempt for man. The scent of black smoke, of crackling flames, and smoldering ashes. Djinn is totally on fire. It does smell just like a campfire. Or like your clothes smell after you've been to a bonfire. Very intriguing. It does make my nose itch and my eyes water, though. I'm going to give this to my mom's husband. He used to be a fireman.

    Ave Maria Gratia Plena

Ave Maria Gratia Plena is a shape-shifter with my chemistry. At first it is jasmine and lily, 2 great scents that do not go great on my skin - sort of soapy old lady smell is what happens. But, that's my chemistry for you. So, I wasn't holding out much hope. But about 2 hours later, I am suddenly smelling something wonderful.... sniff my wrists... lo and behold, it is Ave Maria! I believe it is mainly the musks, and a little of the lemon peel the flowers are still there, but much quieter now. Wow! It's really nice now.

    Xiuhtecuhtli

Describing, and accurately reviewing Xiuhtecuhtli is nearly impossible for me. This is perfection. The perfect scent, perfect for every occasion. Perfect for day, perfect for evening. Perfect for Summer, Perfect for Winter. Perfect. It's orangey and incensey and delicious. Did I mention that it's perfect?

    All Night Long

All Night Long was Super Cinnamonny. I had been afraid to try this one. Though I'm not really sure why, maybe it was my very unhappy experience with Red Devil. Anyhoo, I'm happy to say my fears were unjustified. Super Cinnamon (as mentioned above) with some sort of wood. Heh. That would be Red Hot Wood, then wouldn't it? That is appropriate!

    Kathmandu

Old Kathmandu is for me, mainly sandalwood, incense and some spices. Like Faerykin, I too got a whiff of coca-cola. Strange. But definitely not bad. But after that little interlude, Kathmandu goes back to being spicy, incensey sandalwood. I don't get cedar or lotus and I have no idea what chiuri bark smells like. Though I suppose the cedar and chiuri bark could just be interpreted as wood by my nose. Quite a nice blend.
