    Desdemona

Damn this smells good!! I usually do not care for the Illyria scents and had the intention of tossing Desdemona into the swap pile but was delighted by this soft, light, floral. The listed notes include sweet pea, and carnation which are components of very popular blends. I shall wear my Desdemona upon my wrist for daws to sniff at!!

    Gomorrah

Fig? My Newton!! I never would have guessed that there are figs, currants, or any other kind of fruit in Gomorrah. Not a bad thing, since predominant fruit ain't my bag. With Gomorrah, it would be the woody blackened herbs for a win, except for the little issue with the burnt butter smell. Because my experience was so far off the mainstream, I'm chalking this one up to wonky chemistry or a weird batch. Lovely concept, though.

    Black Lotus

Black Lotus is nice and smoky-sweet having both amber and lotus contributing. I wish it had a bit more throw, though.

    Tushnamatay

I was so ready for "Tush" to smell like ass, but oh how it doesn't. It smells a bit like Khajuraho and is a new GC favorite. There may be some lotus, or rose, or champaca, or honey in it but no one note really predominates. Definitely the perfect headshop blend.

    Cthulhu

'What has risen may sink, and what has sunk may rise. Loathsomeness waits and dreams in the deep.' Cthulhu is by no means loathsome, but this oil is way to manly for me. Sort of the embodiment of a tentacled testicle. Makes me want to date my wrist. Good for clean guy-smell fix.

    Black Rose

Rose is nice in small doses, but usually overpowers everything else when I wear it. Black Rose smells like rose on me, and I'd be unable to state how Black Rose is different from London, Two, Five, Seven or other rose blends. A good one for rose lovers, and worth inclusion for a Great Rose Sniff-Off.

    The Jersey Devil

Having never been to the Jersey Pine Barrens, the Devil smells to me like a Colorado pine forest on a hot summer day. I was surprised to associate pine with summer and I like the scent very much.

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

Just sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet on me. Not nausea-inducing and really not too bad. Bloody Mary exceeded my expectations but a little foody goes a long way for me.

    Spellbound

For such a dark oil, Spellbound had a very faint throw. I don't detect the red musk, but the amber keeps this from becoming overpoweringly rosy. The rose is dark/fermented, as in Peacock Queen not the fresher, sweeter roses in some others. Maybe someday I'll be in a mood for rose, but not today.

    Sri Lanka

The cedar in Sri Lanka predominates on me. It turns me into a wooden chest full of spicy sweetness. I really like it for those headshop nostalgia days. It would also be fantastic in an oil burner.

    Hellcat

Sweet Jordan Almonds!! And maybe a tiny bit of phantom cinnamon? Yum. Hellcat manages to avoid the nausea-inducing surfeit of greasy sweetness that I sometimes get from the foody-nut varieties. A sweet blend that stays close to the skin -much better than I expected.

    Villain

Gomez Addams in a bottle. Gomez is my secret crush, and this would smell great on him - but something more tisha for me, please.

    Centzon Totochtin

The Scents on Toto's Chin are Bloody Drunken Rabbits? At least he let the munchkins alone. Predominantly foody chocolate as opposed to boozy or bloody. When dry, it is cosy without being stuffy. Not really my thing - but very very nice in its own way and that's saying a lot for a foody winey oil.

    Urania

A bright, white floral! In general I love the moonflower note, and the moroccan jasmine is present in just the right amount. Yes, it is more of a traditional perfume, but so what? Considering that 5ml goes for less than $20, Urania is wonderfully versatile, work friendly, has no alcohol smell, and should get love on a regular basis.

    Snow, Glass, Apples

The cold, fresh apple part fades pretty quickly and leaves dried apple, vanilla, and creamy musk. Doesn't sound like much, but smells great and is appropriate to the story.

    Toad Hall

I hope that Mr. Toad has good flood insurance because Toad Hall is surprisingly aquatic on me. It is an interesting and powerful scent - sharp, breezy, and fresh - but not something I'd wear every day.

    Rage

I was wondering what currents had to do with Rage, but had an AHA!! moment: do one's fruit Vrb phrs. To be extremely annoyed. E.g."Sharon's going to do her fruit when she finds David's stuck his bloody nose into her business again." do one's nut Vrb phrs. To be very angry, to throw a tantrum, to get emotionally upset. E.g."The work was piling up, he couldn't do it all by himself but the boss was doing his nut." UK Peevish Slang I like Rage-the-Perfume and am glad that it is only is intended to evoke a degree of annoyance because the nut-scented oils are so not my thing. Rage is definely on the OK side of the line for my fruity perfume toleration - you don't metamorphosize into a walking jam jar. Not off to the swaps; the Rage stops here.

    Pontarlier

At first sniff: Ah... Rose that doesn't drive me crazy!! The ensuing mixed floral stage is also nice, and finally a bit of deep anise. Pontarlier is my type of perfume: floral, "clear", and complex. I like it very much.

    Kubla Khan

Kubla Khan is definitely yummy, and the only thing that keeps it from being a GC favorite is that it is a bit "stuffy" as in an un-aired room instead of clear. Otherwise it is made of win in addition to being made of a kitchen sink full of components.

    Jailbait

If I ever woke up and found myself the warden of a maximum security prison, I would load barrels Jailbait into the fire supression system and spray down any potential rioters to turn them into giggly toenail-painting slumber partiers. And then I'd do the same for Congress. Underneath the silly pink girliness there is a bit of almond oil - or some other type of nuttiness that likely contributed to the previous paragraph. Jailbait definitely evokes its concept, but alas is just not me.

    The Cracked Bell

They really should have just called it Crack instead. (Along the lines of Snake Charmer and incense, hold the vanilla.) It definitely rings my chimes.

    Bon Vivant

Bon Vivant held a cork to my head and made me hum the Dave Matthews song Crash Into Me. Sweet like candy? Yup. DUI issues with champagne? Check. A very happy scent, but sweet, sweet, sweet!!!

    Masabakes

Masabakes is bitter and woody on me in glowing-embers-in-the-fireplace way. I'm not getting anything especially fruity - just some clear aromatic sweet that plays off the bitter. Definitely a good winter scent. Glad I got to try a Tentirujo of this.

    Arcana

Maybe it's the power of suggestion, but Arcana reminds me of Arcana's Grasshopper soap. I get mostly lemon verbena, and although undoubtedly this Arcana is subtly different from other citrus BPAL oils, exactly how is an esoteric mystery and magickal enigma without a formal sniff-off. I like citrus in general, and like Arcana, but have enough other similar scents.

    Men Ringing Bell with Penises

I had always been under the impression that the dangly bits inside a bell were called "clappers", but go figure. Men Ringing Bells is a clear, bright, perfume with a little vanilla undertone to balance the green components. Maybe that's where the concept of "bell" comes from. It successfully avoids becoming generic men's cologne and reminds me of my other fave: Satan w/ Sin and Death. Glad I added still another tea scent to the shelf because these Penises will get plenty of plenty of love chez nous.
